Sunday Matinee Detroit Brawl Draws Huge Crowd to Masonic Temple in Detroit

Promoter Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions wishes to thank all the participants, sponsors and especially the fans who helped make his latest “Perkelahian Detroit” such a tremendous success.
Held this past Sunday, Bulan Januari 22, at the Masonic Temple Downtown, the Detroit Brawl attracted a near sell-out crowd, who took in an exciting night of no less than 10 perkelahian. In the night’s welterweight main event, Detroit’s Lanardo Tyner (31-10-2, 20 Biaya) proved he still has plenty left in the tank as he made a meal out of Hungary’s Istvan Dernanecz (10-5, 7 Biaya).
Tyner, one of the city’s most beloved fighters, scored an impressive TKO in the first round (1:58).
And in the co-main event, Detroit bantamweight James Gordon Smith (12-0, 7 Biaya) had an usually easy night, as he took out Hungary’s Szilveszter Ajtai (10-4-1, 5 Biaya) pada 1:00 mark of round two. Having had several slugfests in a row, Smith used his considerable talent to take out his Hungarian foe with a flurry of hard punches along the ropes.
“Boxing’s big comeback continues,” said a happy Salita, pasca-pertarungan. “The goal of this series was to showcase the best young prospects in the city in competitive match-ups and we’ve done it and the fans have responded very well. The crowd today was very large and loud and came out in force to support their local fighters. Already building a reputation for putting on Detroit’s best boxing shows, promoter Dmitriy Salita and Salita Promotions have done it again by featuring a potentially explosive war in their next show.

Known for his powerful fists and granite chin, Lanardo Tyner is a former USBO and USNBC Welterweight Champion and one of boxing’s most dangerous gate keepers. Tyner has never been stopped in his career, despite facing a long list of future champions and top contenders including Canelo Alvarez, Lamont Peterson, Jessie Vargas, and Antonio DeMarco – and given them all tough fights. Tyner holds victories over former world champion Vivian Harris and a then 17-0-1 Charles Hatley. He also stopped then 21-3-1 Tyrese Hendrix and fought to a draw with top contender Adrian Granados.
“I know he’s a good fighter and a cool guy. I sparred him one time. He’s strong and aggressive. Exactly what I like,” said Tyner. “I’m going to try and make it a war. Hopefully he’s down for it. We both like to fight like that – whoever backs up, that’s who is going to lose. I doubt I will lose.”
Tyner says he can’t wait to see all his fans at the fight and looks forward to seeing where he stands in the division by testing himself against another undefeated would-be contender.
“I love to fight in Detroit. I really don’t fight here too often now, so I’m looking forward to fighting in front of all my people and I know he’s bringing a lot of people too, so it’s going to be a great fight. Beating him would mean that I’m still relevant and can still mess up these young punks. He’s stepping up against me. Bagi saya, I’m just making sure I still have it.”
Undefeated southpaw Wesley Tucker had over 250 amateur bouts and won several championships including the Toledo Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves, and Junior Olympics multiple times. A skilled counter puncher with above average power, Tucker has, sejauh ini, shown strong ring generalship and a veteran’s confidence, in-ring. Passing the test against Tyner will be a strong indicator he belongs in the discussion of world-class up-and-coming welterweights.

It’ll be explosive. I love fighting in Detroit because it’s 45 minutes from my hometown. I will have more people there this time than came to my last one and I had over 50 at the last one.”
Promoter Salita says he’s looking forward to putting on this fight for the fans in his adopted city of Detroit.

Former Amateur Standout Faces Detroit’s Larry Ventus Sabtu ini at ‘Detroit Brawl’

You can’t blame undefeated super lightweight prospect Giorgi Gelashvili for feeling like the rug was pulled out from under him a little.

In search of notoriety and success in the American boxing universe, the 22-year-old from Kutaisi, Georgia, moved his home base to Brooklyn, New York, last year only to have heavy-handed new laws in the state derail his plans temporarily.
The bill, that went into effect in August, dramatically increased mandatory insurance premiums promoters must pay to put on a show in the state — dari $10,000 untuk $50,000 for general coverage per fighter and $1 million minimum, per-fighter, in the event of brain injury. The result is that smaller shows in New York State are basically impossible to justify financially.
“It is disappointing that I can’t fight in New York,” said Gelashvili. “My first three fights were on Salita’s Brooklyn Brawl series. New York has lots of people from my country and I was building a fan base in the community.”
But like any true champion must, Gelashvili has since picked himself up and moved his fighting base to Detroit, Michigan, where a new group of fans have welcomed him warmly.
Gelashvili (5-0, 3 Biaya) will face Detroiter Larry Ventus (6-11-1, 3 Biaya) in a six-round showdown on Salita Promotions latest “Perkelahian Detroit” event at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit, pada tanggal Hari Sabtu, November 12.

They know boxing and they most definitely love a good fight. They know I come to fight and put my heart and soul on the line. Like Detroit, I am climbing up the ranks for worldwide respect and positive recognition.”
Extremely strong and powerful for a fighter his size, Gelashvili had over 120 amateur fights winning 110 while becoming a five-time Georgian National champion. Still he maintains he’s training hard to face Ventus, who is known to pull a surprise or two out of his veteran bag of tricks.
“I know Larry Ventus is a good fighter. He has a bad record, but he has fought many top fighters and in his last fight I heard fought a very close fight with Dorin Spivey. I know he has been training for a long time for this and he is from Detroit, so he’s got the hometown advantage. I trained hard and I am ready.”
Gleashvili says many of his New York-based fans are making the trek to watch him Sabtu ini in Motown and that he is still very happy so far with search for fame and fortune overseas.
“I have been with Salita Promotions for a little over a year they keep me very busy and help me with transition to the US and professional boxing. I believe that they will take me to the top of my division. I am working hard and taking on all comers. November 12 di Detroit… Saya tidak sabar!”

Salita Promotions Signs Promising Toledo Welterweight Wesley Tucker

Dmitriy Salita of Salita Promotions proudly announces the signing of undefeated welterweight contender Wesley “King Wes” Tucker.
A skilled counter puncher with above average power, Tucker (12-0, 7 Biaya) Toledo, Ohio, had over 250 amateur bouts and won several championships including the Toledo Golden Gloves, Silver Gloves, and Junior Olympics multiple times.
The 29-year-old southpaw started boxing at age 8 years old and already has 18 years boxing experience.
“My ring generalship is my greatest asset in the ring,” said Tucker, “tall, small, bigger, I’ve already seen it all and I know what to do to beat them.”
Tucker will make his debut fighting under the Salita Promotions banner on Hari Sabtu, November 12, at their “Perkelahian Detroit” event at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit, when he faces North Carolina’s Richard Hall in a six-round battle.

A father of five, Tucker says family plays a major role in his life and the reason he is a tireless worker in the gym.
“They are my push and motivation for everything I do. They come to the gym with me a lot at least three times a week. And my mom, she loves what I do. She’s my number one fan.”
Tucker’s manager, David McWater who arranged the deal with Salita, says he’s happy to have another of his fighters under their promotional banner.
