WBO-nyheter: Another Successful Boxing Officials’ Seminar Was Held In Chicago

The World Boxing Organization and the Illinois State Athletic Commission concluded a successful training seminar for boxing officials at the Garfield Park – Golden Dome, Chicago, Illinois.

 

 

 

This event covered different topics, such as refereeing, judging, rules, and ethics; the seminar followed an interactive format with the purpose of giving ring officials the necessary knowledge, confidence and experience to execute good judgement of a boxing match.

 

 

 

John Duggan, First Vice-President of the WBO, stated that some of the objectives of these events are to “improve the quality of officiating” and he highlighted the importance of cross training ring officials in order to ensure the correct decisions are made during a boxing match, “correct officiating is important to ensure the right and deserving winner is named in a fight”.

 

 

 

Under tiden, referee Celestino Ruiz and former referee Gino Rodriguez conducted the referees’ training and stressed out the importance of taking control from the moment instructions are given in the locker room; the necessity of having proper knowledge of the rules and being correctly positioned during a fight.

 

 

 

Ethics and professionalism were also covered, as fundamental aspects in the development of a career as a boxing official.

 

 

 

Videos were used to exemplify, analyze and break down different decisions during a boxing match, this is important to help participants understand some of the scenarios they may have to face, it offers them the possibility to clarify doubts while at the same time put their knowledge to test.

 

 

 

The WBO values these opportunities to contribute with the training of boxing officials and help them attain mastery of their skills.

Världsboxningsorganisationen (WBO) kommer att övervaka fyra stora slagsmål denna vecka runt om i världen, inklusive ett världsmästerskap.

 

 

 

Börjar på torsdag, Juni 14 vid Korakuen Hall i Tokyo, Japan, sjunde rankade Hiroaki Teshigawara (16-2-2, 9 Kos), Tokyo, kommer att försvara sin WBO Asia-Pacific Bantamweight-titel mot den tvåfaldiga världsutmanaren Teiru Kinoshita (26-2-1, 9 Kos), från Kobe.

 

 

 

På samma kort, 12th rankade Ryuichi Funai (29-7, 20 Kos), från Tokyo, möter den tidigare världsmästaren Warlito Parrenas (26-7-1, 23 Kos), från Filipinerna, för lediga WBO Asia-Pacific Jr.. Bantamvikt bälte. Båda striderna är planerade till 12 runda som en del av ett evenemang som marknadsförs av Dangan Boxing.

WBO: Officials Named for Title Bout Between World Champion Ángel Acosta and Carlos Buitrago

Världsboxningsorganisationen (WBO) announced the officials for this Saturday, Juni 16, clash between WBO Jr. Flyweight-mästare, Angel ‘Tito’ Acosta, från Puerto Rico, and ranked No. 10 by this sanctioning body Carlos ‘Chocorroncito’ Buitrago, from Nicaragua, i en schemalagd 12 rounds bout.

 

 

 

The world title match will take place at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan as the main event of a boxing evening presented by the Cotto Promotions. The Puerto Rican Luis Pabón will be the referee of the clash. Pabón is a veteran of over 400 professional boxing fights, Inklusive 168 world titles bouts.

 

 

 

The Coliseo de Puerto Rico, was the scene of Miguel Cotto’s first world championship, when the today’s promoter was crowned WBO Jr. Welterwweight Champion on September 11, 2004 after defeating Kelson Pinto, Brasilien, by technical knockout in the sixth round.

 

 

 

Puerto Rican Jerry Martinez of Guaynabo and from the United States, Rocky Young, of Florida, and William Lerch, of Illinois, were appointed judges for the bout. The WBO Supervisor will be WBO President of the Classifications Committee Edgardo López Sasso, Esq.

 

 

 

For Acosta (17-1-1, 17 Kos), it will be his first world title defense of the title he won last December by knocking out Mexican Juan ‘Pinky’ Alejo in the tenth round. Från hans sida, Buitrago (30-3-1, 17 Kos) has held the WBO Youth and Latino Mini Flyweight titles.

Världsboxningsorganisationen (WBO) kommer att övervaka sju rubriker runt om i världen i helgen, varav två är för världstitlar.

 

 

 

Från och med fredag, Juni 8, i Verona, New York, WBO-rankad junior fjädervikt Diego De La Hoya (20-0, 9 Kos) kommer att försvara sin NABO 122 pund titel mot José “Socker” Salgado (35-4-2, 28 Kos) i en 10-omgångsduell. Kampen marknadsförs av Golden Boy Promotions och kommer att gå på scenen på Turning Stone Resort Casino i den tidigare nämnda staden.

 

 

 

Striden kommer att sändas live på ESPN3, börjar vid 9:00 p.m. (Eastern Time). ESPN2 kommer att sända striderna på 12:30 a.m. OCH / 9:30 p.m. PT. och ESPN Deportes kommer att sända striderna dagen efter kl 9:00 p.m. OCH / 6:00 p.m. PT.

 

 

 

De La Hoya-Salgado kommer att äga rum under International Boxing Hall of Fame-introduktionshelgen, där ”Dr.. Ironfist ”Vitali Klitschko, Erik “El Terrible” Morales, och Ronald “Winky” Wright kommer att upphöjas, tillsammans med andra viktiga boxningsfigurer som Peter Kohl, Steve Albert, Jim Gray och Lorraine Chargin.

 

 

 

På lördag, Juni 9 i Argentina, Facundo Galovar (10-2-1, 7 Kos), av Tucuman, och Rolando Mansilla (13-5-1, 5 Kos), av Entre Ríos, kommer att möta det lediga WBO Latino Super Mellanvikt bältet i ett schemalagt 10 runda bout. Kortet kommer att äga rum på Club Atlético Central Córdoba i San Miguel, som en del av ett evenemang som marknadsförs av Argentina Boxing Promotions.

 

 

 

Också på lördag, men på Filippinerna, två WBO Jr. Fjäderviktstävlingar kommer att äga rum, när den lokala pugilisten Jeo “Santino” Santisima (15-2, 13 Kos) möter Likit Chane (16-6, 10 Kos), från Thailand, för det lediga WBO Oriental 122 pund bälte, och lokala Albert Pagara (29-1, 20 Kos), som är rankad nr. 9 av WBO, strider mot Laryea Gabriel Odoi (20-3-2, 14 Kos), Ghana, för den lediga Inter-Continental Junior fjäderviktstiteln. Båda striderna är planerade till 12 rundor i ett evenemang som marknadsförs av ALA Promotions på Maasin City Complex.

 

 

 

I England, den tidigare WBO-lätta mästaren Terry Flanagan (33-0, 13 Kos), från Manchester, kommer att försöka regera i en andra division, när han kolliderar med Texan Maurice Hooker (23-0-3, 16Kos) för den lediga WBO Junior Welterweight-kronan. Duellen blir huvudevenemanget på ett kort som presenteras av Queensberry Promotions. Striden kommer att hållas på Manchester Arena. Flanagan och Hooker rankas i första och andra positionen, respektive, vid Junior Welterweight-divisionen.

 

 

 

Under hans regeringstid i Lightweight-divisionen, Flanagan försvarade framgångsrikt titeln fem gånger.

Buitrago also fought a 12-round split draw in 2013 to then-WBO Minimum World Champion Merlito Sabillo (12-0) in Manila, Filippinerna.

I’m not sure what Tito Acosta will bring into the ring June 16. I don’t think Tito Acosta is going to learn the necessary moves and techniques in a month. He is a raw boxer who relies only on the strength of his blows. I don’t believe that he will bring anything new into the ring and if they change him, the only thing that will accomplish is confuse him. I’m always emphasising my preparation. I’m coming in smart because I’m bringing the ability to work round for round. My only objective is to bring the world championship to Nicaragua.

Australien, Kalkon, Japan and England to host WBO bouts

Världsboxningsorganisationen (WBO), chaired by Francisco ‘Paco’ Valcárcel, will have seven fights in different parts of the world this upcoming weekend.

 

Lördag, Maj 19:

 

In Australia, there will be a duel of unbeatens when the popular Australian Liam Paro (13-0, 9 KO: s) faces Sebastian Bytyqi (11-0-1, 8 KO: s) of the Czech Republic for the vacant WBO Youth Jr. Welterweight title. Kampen är planerad till 10 rounds and it’ll take place at the Southport Sharks AFL Club in Southport.

 

“Paro and Bytyqi have the backing of world champions for this fight. Paro has been sparring with our WBO world champion Jeff Horn and in Bytyqi’s corner, he has Lukas Konecny, a former interim WBO champion and is the best fighter the Czech Republic has given so far”, said Valcárcel.

 

In Turkey, from the Spor Salonu in Trabzon, former world champion and WBO #2 Firat Arslan (47-8-2, 26 KO: s) will face Isaac Paa Kwesi Ankrah (14-7, 12 KO: s) of Ghana in a 10 round bout for the WBO Inter-Continental Jr. Heavyweight belt. Tidigare Olympian, current WBO junior welterweight European champion and #12 rankad, Fatih Keles (10-0-1, 5 KO: s) of Turkey, will be making the third defense of his title against Russian Maxim Churbanov (8-3-1) and former Olympian Ali Eren Demirezen (8-0-0) will defend his WBO European Heavyweight Title against Georgia’s Tornike Puritchamiashvili (11-8-0, 7 KO: s).

 

I England, WBO Inter-Continental Junior Welterweight title holder and 4th ranked Jack Catterall (20-0, 11 KO: s) will be making his seventh title defense against Frenchman Christopher Sebire (26-10-1, 9 KO: s). Sedan, in duel of Englishmen, Darren Tetley (15-0, 6 KO: s) will face Mason Cartwright (13-0-1, 5 KO: s) for the vacant WBO welterweight European belt. The fight venue is the Elland Road Football Ground in Leeds.

The boxing movement of WBO regional titles continues, and will take place in Japan, where the WBO Asia-Pacific lightweight champion and #2 ranked Nihito Arakawa (31-6-1, 18 KO: s) will put his title on the line against Filipino, Rimar Metuda (12-3, 7 KO: s) in a bout that’ll take place in the Ota-City General Gymnasium.

 

“We are very active all around the world. We are extending our organization so that the best fighters represent the WBO. Several of the fighters who will see action this weekend are close to going for a world title. Arakawa, Catterall, Arslan, Demirezen and Keles are very well ranked.
