“As a dad, I have to separate the boxing,” Angel Garcia said. “So when Danny’s in there I’ve got to look at him as a coach. I can’t look at it as a dad.”

 

 

 

Said Kenny Porter: “As a former boxer, I felt what it’s like to be in that ring… So I feel differently when he’s in the ring. I have a more competitive spirit towards winning than maybe someone who’s kid is in there and they’re looking at whether the kid is getting injured. I’m looking at it like, let’s win.”

 

 

 

Gray gets Porter and Garcia to open up about challenges, regrets and the aspirations they’ve carried for their progeny both in the ring and outside of it. “I do [have regrets],” Angel Garcia said. “I said my faults. I’m not perfect.”

 

 

 

Angel called himself the “most underrated trainer” in boxing today, and Danny the “most underrated fighter.”

Boxing For The World 5K Run es un éxito en Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico (Julio 30, 2018) – El domingo pasado (22 de julio) en Caguas, Puerto Rico, Boxing For The World organizó una carrera de 5K, que sirvió como recaudador de fondos para las instalaciones de la Fundación Make A Wish de Puerto Rico . La instalación (casa) alberga a niños con cáncer y otras enfermedades terminales. La instalación sufrió daños importantes debido al huracán María. .

 

 

 

El patrocinador principal fue el WBC y su programa WBC Cares.

 

 

 

No menos de 20 de los más grandes luchadores de Puerto Rico participaron en la caminata como:

García (34-1, 20 KOs) ha luchado and defeated many of the most formidable opponents at 140 and 147-pounds spanning two generations—Erik Morales, Zab Judah, Kendall Holt, Amir Khan, Lucas Matthysse, Paulie Malignaggi and Lamont Peterson among them. He lost a narrow decision to unified welterweight champion Keith Thurman in a 2016 Fight of the Year candidate in Brooklyn but rebounded with two victories last year at Barclays Center. He scored a TKO victory against former welterweight champion Andre Berto in a welterweight title eliminator and followed it up with a 12-round decision over Adrian Granados.
