About Roy Jones Jr.
Roy Jones Jr. is an American professional boxer who has captured numerous championships in the Middleweight, Super middleweight, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He is the only boxer in history to start his career as a junior middleweight, and go on to win a heavyweight title. He is also noted for holding the WBC, WBA, IBF, IBO, NABF, WBF, and IBA light heavyweight championships; a record seven belts at the same time. Jones left his mark in boxing history when he won the WBA heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a Heavyweight title in 106 anos. As of February 2018, Jones holds the record for the most wins in unified light heavyweight title bouts in boxing history, at twelve. The Ring magazine named Jones the Fighter of the Year in 1994, and the World Boxing Hall of Fame named him the Fighter of the Year for 2003. COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Febreiro 26, 2019) – USA Boxing Alumni Association’s tribute this past weekend to two of New England’s all-time greatest amateur boxers, Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Paz e “Irlandés” Micky Ward, was a major success at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

A sold-out fundraiser to benefit the USA Boxing Alumni Association was held at Fred & Steve’s Steakhouse on Friday evening, honoring Paz and Ward, in addition to Hall of Fame referee Steve Smoger, who officiated numerous fights for both fighters.

Paz and Ward held a meet-and-greet Saturday night, prior to a CES Boxing event, as the popular boxers signed autographs and posed for pictures. They were brought into the ring, along with Smoger, and received a standing applause from the large crowd in attendance.



USA Boxing Alumni Association’s back-to-back nights at Twin River raised $3,000 (including proceeds from Sportsworld’s memorabilia auction) and added 20 new alumni members, including Paz, to its growing ranks.

“We were part of a magical weekend,” dito Al Valenti, USA Boxing Special Projects Consultant. “Vinny and Micky greeted so many of their fans. It is without question that these two warriors define what the USA Boxing Alumni Association is all about: bringing together so many members from so many years past that built the future for so many young boxers. It was especially rewarding to see past boxers, coaches and officials flock to Vinny and Micky. The entire two-day experience at Twin River Casino was packed with memories that we will all hold onto for years to come. We’d like to thank Jimmy Burchfield (CES Boxing) for his hospitality and hosting Saturday evening’s event.”

Baltimore Boxing returns with “Super Brawl of Boxing” January 26

Baltimore, MD (Xaneiro 9, 2018) – Jake Smith Baltimore Boxing will host their first show of 2018 when they present the “Super Brawl of Boxing” Venres, Xaneiro 26 at Michael’s Eighth Ave in Glen Burnie, MD.

Baltimore Boxing is also pleased to announce that 5-time world champion and the subject of the movie “Bleed for This” Vinny Paz will be on hand to meet fans. Paz is a regular at Baltimore Boxing cards and local fight fans have adopted him as if he were one of their own.
This Olympic style boxing card is headlined by a title unification between Maryland State Middleweight champ Deshawn “Soulsnatcher” Chase of Baltimore Boxing and East Coast belt holder Marquis Moore of Salisbury’s Main Street Boxing Gym. Chase is one of Baltimore’s better amateurs and a regular at Michael’s Eighth while Moore is a well-schooled boxer that believes both titles will be his come the 26th.
This excellent evening of boxing also feature the debut of former NFL player Leon Joe. A standout linebacker at the University of Maryland, Joe was listed by Street & Smith as an All American Honorable mention in 2003. The next year, the Chicago Bears drafted Joe in the 4th round and he played in Super Bowl XLI. He later spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions before playing two years in the Canadian Football League.
Baltimore Boxing’s ‘Super Brawl of Boxing” also serves as a fundraiser for Tina Frost. En Outubro 1, Frost was shot in the head during the mass shooting in Las Vegas. Her right eye was removed and spent time in a rehab facility. Originally from Baltimore, the 28-year-old Frost was working as a CPA for Ernst & Young in San Diego but is back in Maryland with her family. While Frost’s made great progress, she has a long way to and a mound of medical bills that will only continue to grow.

Boxing great Vinny Paz, the subject of critically acclaimed Bleed for This, is attending as a special guest of Baltimore Boxing Promotions and will be available to meet and greet all VIP ticket holders.
Topping this outstanding evening of action is a ten round cruiserweight title showdown between NABA champion “Slick” Nick Kisner of Baltimore and former champion Alex Guerrero.
Fighting out of Baltimore, Kisner has an impressive 19-3-1 Razón profesional con 6 KO. Kisner won his last three bouts including the NABA title winning effort where he traveled to Ohio to outpoint local favorite Brian Holstein. In just his third professional fight “Dangerous” Donald Wallace looks to capture the vacant East Coast Middleweight Championship when he faces Devin Butcher in an eight round battle of Baltimoreans. En Xaneiro 13, Wallace, 2-0 (1 KO), won a six round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Tahir Thomas. Prior to his pro career, he generated local buzz by impressing in tournaments as a newcomer to the sport. Butcher is 6-1 con 3 wins by knockout and is coming off a decision victory over Eric Govan.
2012 Dominican Olympian Wellington Romero will face an opponent to be named in a special attraction welterweight contest. Now fighting out of Newburgh, Nova York, Romero’s 12-0-1 con 6 vitorias por nocaute. He is promoted by Roc Nation Sports.
Welterweight Matthew “Boogieman” Bowling, 4-0 (4 KO), and heavyweight Colby Madison, 4-0 (3 KO), will both face opponents to be named in four rounders.

This week on the FNU Combat Sports Show we discuss a fantastic month of November as far as fighting goes. We only had two shows last month, so we kick off this week in catch up mode. We discuss Ward vs. Kovalev at length, go off on a few tangents and then get to Tony’s review of “Bleed For This.” We then go back to MMA for Rich’s commentary on Miesha Tate telling Dana White, “FU, you’re not my boss..” after his request that she go to the hospital after her fight with Raquel Pennington. Tate retired earlier in the evening after a stellar career. Rich also gets going about the fighter union front and some new developments with Georges St. Pierre, Ex-Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, Cain Velasquez, T.J. Dillashaw and other UFC notables breaking new ground in the niche with the founding of the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association. We also manage to preview the upcoming weekend’s boxing schedule before the end of the broadcast tonight.

American Legend Set To Descend On London Boxing Gym In Celebration Of Film About His Career

On Monday 28th Novembro, Vinny Pazienza, the subject of forthcoming Hollywood movie BLEED FOR THIS, will descend on pro boxer Ben Day’s Ringtone Gym in Euston, London for a series of press interviews, ahead of a special private screening of the film that evening. BLEED FOR THIS goes on general release in the UK on Friday 2nd Decembro.

 

BLEED FOR THIS is based on the incredible true story of Vinny Pazienza, who is played by Miles Teller in the movie, one of the few American boxers to hold World Titles in three different weight categories, who suffered a near-fatal car accident at the peak of his career. Told he would never walk again. Vinny spent months recovering in a neck brace until, against doctors’ orders and without their knowledge, he returned to the gym. With support of trainer Kevin Rooney, played by Aaron Eckhart in the movie, “The Pazmanian Devil” made a triumphant return to the ring just over a year later.

 

Written and directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room), BLEED FOR THIS is executive produced by RAGING BULL director Martin Scorsese. Miles Teller (Whiplash, War Dogs) stars as Vinny alongside Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Sully) as Pazienza’s trainer Kevin Rooney. The Supporting cast includes Ciarán Hinds, Ted Levine and Katey Sagal.

 

On a quirky side note: O Sábado 3rd Decembro, the day after BLEED FOR THIS is released nationally in the UK, Ringtone Gym owner Ben Day will be back in Championship action himself, as he looks to secure his third title, the Southern Area Lightweight, against Michael Devine at York Hall in Bethnal Green, Londres.

 

Speaking earlier Ben said “I’m really looking forward to Vinny and the stars of the film coming to the gym o luns. I can empathise with Vinnys struggles we’ve both had struggles in similar areas, his physical and mine mental, following an extremely tough upbringing, however against all the odds I now hold an International Masters Belt and the Southern Area Super-Lightweight title, and I’m fighting for the Southern Area Lightweight Title on 3rd December!”

Foi considerado como un dos máis grandes loitadores de defensa da súa época e estaba invicto na súa primeira 46 Concursos loitas. Toney loitou no nivel de elite por máis de tres décadas e é un primeiro escrutinio seguro Salón da Fama. Toney ten vitorias notables sobre Michael Nunn, Reggie Johnson, Mike McCallum, Iran Barkley,Vassiliy Jirov e Evander Holyfield. Con máis 90 loitas profesionais na súa carreira, non xa que el foi cada vez nocauteado e ningún árbitro xa tivo de salvalo ou deixar unha pelexa mentres competía. Toney tamén foi premiada revista Ring e Boxeo Asociación de Escritores de América Loitador do Ano 1991 and comeback fighter of the year 2003.

Toney han compartir un stand coa ABA (Asociación Americana de Boxeo) e teñen fotos, luvas e mercadorías para os seus fans para gozar e compra.

 

Toney xunta Sergio “Marabilla” Martinez , “Altura De Comezar” Shawn Porter, Peter “Chocolate Kid” Quillin, “Terrible” Terry Norris, Joel “Cepillo” Casamayor, “El Feroz” Fernando Vargas, Ruslan “Siberian Rocky” Provodnikov e Mia St.John entre os primeiros compromisos coa Expo Fan Box deste ano.

 

Este evento único experiencia fan, que permitiu que os fans para coñecer e cumprimento lendas do boxeo, campións do pasado e actuais e outras celebridades do deporte, estreou en setembro pasado. Este ano, a Expo será executado desde10 a.m. para 5 p.m. e unha vez máis, permitir que os fans a oportunidade de recoller autógrafos, sacar fotos e mercadorías compra e recordos.

 

Expositores como engrenaxe de boxeo, vestiario, transmitindo a medios e outras empresas de marca que desexen participar terán a oportunidade de amosar os seus produtos para os fans e toda a industria de boxeo.

 

Inaugural Expo Fan Box do ano pasado contou con algúns dos loitadores máis populares e famosos de boxeo na historia recente. Os fans foron brindados con visitas con Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, Martinez, Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Mikey Garcia,Toney, Riddick Bowe, Leon Spinks Terry Norris, Desgaste, Chris Byrd, Jesse James Leija ,Lamon Brewster, Ray Mercer, Earnie Shavers, St-John, Erislandy Lara, Quillin, Jean Pascal e Austin Trout. Tamén aparecen eran actual campión WBC Deontay Wilder, Vinny Pazienza o carismático, Paul Williams, comentarista observou Al Bernstein e adestrador Roger Mayweather de Promocións Mayweather.
