About Roy Jones Jr.
Roy Jones Jr. is an American professional boxer who has captured numerous championships in the Middleweight, Super middleweight, Light heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He is the only boxer in history to start his career as a junior middleweight, and go on to win a heavyweight title. He is also noted for holding the WBC, AMB, FIB, IBO, NABF, WBF, and IBA light heavyweight championships; a record seven belts at the same time. Jones left his mark in boxing history when he won the WBA heavyweight title, becoming the first former middleweight champion to win a Heavyweight title in 106 any. As of February 2018, Jones holds the record for the most wins in unified light heavyweight title bouts in boxing history, at twelve. The Ring magazine named Jones the Fighter of the Year in 1994, and the World Boxing Hall of Fame named him the Fighter of the Year for 2003. COLORADO SPRINGS, Volta. (Febrer 26, 2019) – USA Boxing Alumni Association’s tribute this past weekend to two of New England’s all-time greatest amateur boxers, Vinny “The Pazmanian Devil” Paz i “Irlandès” Micky Ward, was a major success at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

A sold-out fundraiser to benefit the USA Boxing Alumni Association was held at Fred & Steve’s Steakhouse on Friday evening, honoring Paz and Ward, in addition to Hall of Fame referee Steve Smoger, who officiated numerous fights for both fighters.

Paz and Ward held a meet-and-greet Saturday night, prior to a CES Boxing event, as the popular boxers signed autographs and posed for pictures. They were brought into the ring, along with Smoger, and received a standing applause from the large crowd in attendance.



USA Boxing Alumni Association’s back-to-back nights at Twin River raised $3,000 (including proceeds from Sportsworld’s memorabilia auction) and added 20 new alumni members, including Paz, to its growing ranks.

“We were part of a magical weekend,” dit Al Valenti, USA Boxing Special Projects Consultant. “Vinny and Micky greeted so many of their fans. It is without question that these two warriors define what the USA Boxing Alumni Association is all about: bringing together so many members from so many years past that built the future for so many young boxers. It was especially rewarding to see past boxers, coaches and officials flock to Vinny and Micky. The entire two-day experience at Twin River Casino was packed with memories that we will all hold onto for years to come. We’d like to thank Jimmy Burchfield (CES Boxing) for his hospitality and hosting Saturday evening’s event.”

Boxing great Vinny Paz, the subject of critically acclaimed Bleed for This, is attending as a special guest of Baltimore Boxing Promotions and will be available to meet and greet all VIP ticket holders.
Topping this outstanding evening of action is a ten round cruiserweight title showdown between NABA champion “Slick” Nick Kisner of Baltimore and former champion Alex Guerrero.
Fighting out of Baltimore, Kisner has an impressive 19-3-1 comptabilitat professional amb 6 Nocauts. Kisner won his last three bouts including the NABA title winning effort where he traveled to Ohio to outpoint local favorite Brian Holstein. Never afraid of a challenge, the 26-year-old Kisner defeated 8-1 Lamont Singletary March 30 at Michaels Eighth and will have a tough task come May 12.
Representing Salisbury, MD and originally from the Dominican Republic, Guerrero will look to regain the title he captured via 8º round stoppage of Anthony Ferrante in 2014. En 12-1-1 amb 6 Nocauts, Guerrero lost his last fight but will enter the ring looking not only to win back his title but to prove he’s worthy of fighting the cruiserweight division’s elite.
In just his third professional fight “Dangerous” Donald Wallace looks to capture the vacant East Coast Middleweight Championship when he faces Devin Butcher in an eight round battle of Baltimoreans. En Gener 13, Wallace, 2-0 (1 KO), won a six round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Tahir Thomas. Prior to his pro career, he generated local buzz by impressing in tournaments as a newcomer to the sport. Butcher is 6-1 amb 3 wins by knockout and is coming off a decision victory over Eric Govan.
2012 Dominican Olympian Wellington Romero will face an opponent to be named in a special attraction welterweight contest. Now fighting out of Newburgh, Nova York, Romero’s 12-0-1 amb 6 victòries per nocaut. He is promoted by Roc Nation Sports.
Welterweight Matthew “Boogieman” Bowling, 4-0 (4 Nocauts), and heavyweight Colby Madison, 4-0 (3 Nocauts), will both face opponents to be named in four rounders.

This week on the FNU Combat Sports Show we discuss a fantastic month of November as far as fighting goes. We only had two shows last month, so we kick off this week in catch up mode. We discuss Ward vs. Kovalev at length, go off on a few tangents and then get to Tony’s review of “Bleed For This.” We then go back to MMA for Rich’s commentary on Miesha Tate telling Dana White, “FU, you’re not my boss..” after his request that she go to the hospital after her fight with Raquel Pennington. Tate retired earlier in the evening after a stellar career. Rich also gets going about the fighter union front and some new developments with Georges St. Pierre, Ex-Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney, Cain Velasquez, T. J. Dillashaw and other UFC notables breaking new ground in the niche with the founding of the Mixed Martial Arts Athletes Association. We also manage to preview the upcoming weekend’s boxing schedule before the end of the broadcast tonight.

American Legend Set To Descend On London Boxing Gym In Celebration Of Film About His Career

On Monday 28º Novembre, Vinny Pazienza, the subject of forthcoming Hollywood movie BLEED FOR THIS, will descend on pro boxer Ben Day’s Ringtone Gym in Euston, London for a series of press interviews, ahead of a special private screening of the film that evening. BLEED FOR THIS goes on general release in the UK on Friday 2nd Desembre.

 

BLEED FOR THIS is based on the incredible true story of Vinny Pazienza, who is played by Miles Teller in the movie, one of the few American boxers to hold World Titles in three different weight categories, who suffered a near-fatal car accident at the peak of his career. Told he would never walk again. Vinny spent months recovering in a neck brace until, against doctors’ orders and without their knowledge, he returned to the gym. With support of trainer Kevin Rooney, played by Aaron Eckhart in the movie, “The Pazmanian Devil” made a triumphant return to the ring just over a year later.

 

Written and directed by Ben Younger (Boiler Room), BLEED FOR THIS is executive produced by RAGING BULL director Martin Scorsese. Miles Teller (Whiplash, War Dogs) stars as Vinny alongside Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight, Sully) as Pazienza’s trainer Kevin Rooney. The Supporting cast includes Ciarán Hinds, Ted Levine and Katey Sagal.

 

On a quirky side note: En dissabte 3rd Desembre, the day after BLEED FOR THIS is released nationally in the UK, Ringtone Gym owner Ben Day will be back in Championship action himself, as he looks to secure his third title, the Southern Area Lightweight, against Michael Devine at York Hall in Bethnal Green, Londres.

 

Speaking earlier Ben said “I’m really looking forward to Vinny and the stars of the film coming to the gym els dilluns. I can empathise with Vinnys struggles we’ve both had struggles in similar areas, his physical and mine mental, following an extremely tough upbringing, however against all the odds I now hold an International Masters Belt and the Southern Area Super-Lightweight title, and I’m fighting for the Southern Area Lightweight Title on 3rd December!”

Lcom Vegas (Juliol 21, 2015) – James “Lights Out” Toney, un campió del món 12 vegades en cinc categories de pes, ha confirmat que apareixerà al Centre de Convencions de Las Vegas per a la segona edició del Expo Box Fan, Dissabte, Set. 12, 2015. L'Expo Box Fan coincidirà amb l'última baralla de Floyd Mayweather Jr. i el cap de setmana de la Independència de Mèxic.
Toney és un ex- FIB de pes mitjà, súper mitjà i campió mundial de pes creuer. Ha estat considerat com un dels més grans boxejadors defensius de la seva era i estava invicte en la seva primera 46 concursos combats. Toney ha lluitat a nivell d'elit durant més de tres dècades i és un primer Saló de la Fama boleta Segur. Toney té notables victòries sobre Michael Nunn, Reggie Johnson, Mike McCallum, Iran Barkley,Vassiliy Jirov i Evander Holyfield. Amb més 90 baralles professionals en la seva carrera, no una vegada que mai ha estat noquejat i cap àrbitre ha hagut de salvar o aturar una baralla mentre competia. Toney també va ser guardonat Ring Magazine i l'Associació d'Escriptors de Boxa d'Amèrica Boxejador de l'Any 1991 and comeback fighter of the year 2003.

Toney compartirà un estand amb l'ABA (Associació Americana de Boxa) i tenen fotos, guants i mercaderia per als seus fans per gaudir i compra.

 

Toney s'uneix a Sergio “Meravella” Martínez , “Temps De La Funció” Shawn Porter, Peter “Kid Xocolata” Quillin, “Terrible” Terry Norris, Joel “El Raspall” Casamayor, “El Ferotge” Fernando Vargas, Ruslan “Siberià Rocky” Provodnikov i Mia St. John entre els primers compromisos de Box Fan Expo d'enguany.

 

Aquest esdeveniment únic experiència dels aficionats, que va permetre als aficionats a conèixer i saludar llegendes de la boxa, campions del passat i actuals i altres celebritats de l'esport, debutar el setembre passat. Aquest any, l'Expo tindrà lloc del10 a.m. a 5 p.m. i una vegada de nou, permetrà als aficionats l'oportunitat de recollir autògrafs, fer fotos i mercaderies de compra i records.

 

Expositors com a equip de boxa, vestir, els mitjans de radiodifusió i altres empreses de marca que desitgin participar tindran l'oportunitat de mostrar els seus productes als fans i tota la indústria de la boxa.

 

Inaugural Expo Box Fan de l'any passat va comptar amb alguns dels boxejadors més populars i celebritats de boxa en la història recent. Els aficionats van poder gaudir de visites amb Mike Tyson, Roy Jones Jr, Martínez, Amir Khan, Zab Judah, Mikey García,Toney, Riddick Bowe, Leon Spinks Terry Norris, Desgast, Chris Byrd, Jesse James Leija ,Lamon Brewster, Ray Mercer, Màquines d'afaitar Earnie, St-John, Erislandy Lara, Quillin, Jean Pascal i Austin truita. També apareix eren actual campió del CMB Deontay Wilder, el carismàtic Vinny Pazienza, Paul Williams, comentarista va assenyalar l'Bernstein i entrenador Roger Mayweather de Mayweather Promotions.
