Philadelphia’s most viewed fighter, Christian Carto takes on 37 fight veteran Antonio Rodriguez on Friday, November 9th at SugarHouse Casino

Filadèlfia, Penn. (Novembre 2, 2018)–Millions of travelers drive on Interstate-95 each day. In each direction there are many billboards that are visible for miles. For the better part of the last month, two billboards in particular feature one of the hottest prospects in boxing in undefeated bantamweight Christian Carto.

 

 

 

Carto, who has been featured multiple times by SugarHouse Casino com la 21 year-old has developed a relationship with the casino as he has packed the fight venue on seven previous occasions.

 

 

 

“It’s really cool to see me up on these big billboards,” said Carto. “I didn’t know they were going up, but it is very exciting to see it.”

 

 

 

Those massive billboards can only enhance Carto’s already huge fan base.

 

 

En Divendres nit, November 9th, Carto will make his eighth appearance at SugarHouse Casino when he takes on 37 fight-veteran Antonio Rodriguez in the six-round main event of a seven bout card promoted by King’s Promotions.

 

 

 

Carto has signature victories over Alonso Melendez (14-1) and James Smith (12-1). Carto is coming off a eight-round unanimous decision over Javier Gallo on August 18th in Atlantic City, Nova Jersey.

 

 

 

Rodriguez of Durango, Mexico is a very capable foe as the 30 year-old has big wins over undefeated opponents Alonso Melendez (11-0); Junior Granados (12-0) and Luis Castro (7-0-2). Rodriguez also has wins over Jonathan Chavez (6-1-1), Granados (12-2-1).

 

 

 

“I don’t know too much about him,” continued Carto, “I know he is a Mexican fighter who likes to come forward. We share a common opponent in Alonso Melendez. I have seen that he is tough.”

 

 

 

This will be the 4th outing of 2018 for Carto, and with a win he will raise his mark to 2019, but the 21 year-old is continuing his learning process as he heads into the new year.

 

 

 

“I feel that I started off well in 2018. I always want to do better, and I am own biggest critic. I feel that I should have done better in my last two fights. This training camp, which is my 2nd camp with Billy Briscoe as my head trainer, I learned a lot, so I know I will do better.”

 

 

 

With Brisoce manning the corner, Carto sees himself getting better with each fight in 2019.

 

 

 

“I can definitely see myself fighting for a regional title in 2019, but I am still earning, so there is no rush. With being with Billy, I would like to go out to a training camp with one of the champions to help them get ready for a big, which will help me even more.”

 

 

 

“I just want to thank Billy as well as my brother Frankie who has helped me a lot with the training. My father who helps with all the tickets and ticket requests. I also had some great sparring with a Romuel Cruz. I am ready for a great fight.

The fantastic nine-bout show was promoted by King’s Promotions.

It seemed that Garcia was leading the action by landing combinations on the ropes. Crawley tried to keep the fight at the center of the ring by trying to lead with his left and flicking out the jab. Garcia dictated the action, but the judges did not see it that way as two of the voters saw the fight even at 76-76 and a 3rd judge had it 79-73 for Garcia.

García, 140.7 lbs of Dominican Republic is 14-3-1. Crawley, Jr., 138.5 lbs of Philadelphia, Pennsilvània 7-1-1.

Eric Moon won an eight-round unanimous decision over Christopher Brooker in a super middleweight bout.

Moon used quick combination that scored well over the second half of the fight that swelled the left eye of Brooker.

Moon, 167.9 lbs of Marieta, GA won by scores of 78-74 i 77-75 twice to raise his record to 8-1. Brooker, 169 lbs of Philadelphia is now 13-6.

Poindexter Knight remained undefeated by winning a six-round unanimous decision over Gregory Averil Young in a welterweight bout.
Knight was in control of the bout and then in round five with a powerful right hook. Knight landed several more hard shots, but was unable to finish him,.

Joshafat Ortiz stopped Javier Oquendo in round three of their scheduled six-round super featherweight bout featuring undefeated fighters.

Rasheed Johnson won a six-round unanimous decision over Tony Morris in a welterweight bout.

Morris was cut badly over his left eye in round three from a clash of heads, while Johnson was also cut but not as much.

The bout headlined an eight-fight card at SugarHouse Casino, and was promoted by King’s Promotions.

 

 

Fox de Forestville, Maryland controlled the action by using his long reach that set up combination punching. La 22 year-old was solid throughout, and cruised home to the victory by scores of 79-73 dues vegades i 78-74.

 

 

Fox is now 17-0, Mercado of Camuy, Puerto Rico is 11-4.

 

 

“The Fighting Ring Announcer” Alex Barbosa came back after a nearly two-year layoff to win a four-round unanimous decision over Sergio Aguilar in a super bantamweight bout.

 

Barbosa of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 i 39-37 twice to raise his mark to 6-3-1. Aguilar of Homestead, Florida is 2-8.

 


 

Romuel Cruz bloodied the nose of Bryann Perez on his way to a four-round unanimous decision in a super bantamweight bout.

 

Cruz of Philadelphia won by scores of 40-36 dues vegades i 39-37 to stay undefeated at 2-0. Perez of Carolina, Puerto Rico falls to 2-10-1.

 


New King’s Promotions signee, Anvar Yusunov shook of a flash knockdown to win a four-round unanimous decision over Deo Kizito in a super featherweight bout.

Jerrod Miner and Desmond Moore battled to a four-round split draw in a bantamweight contest.

 

 

Each fighter won a scorecard 39-37 and a third card was even at 38-38.

 

 

Miner of Philadelphia is 1-1-2. Moore of Bethlehem, PA is 1-0-1.

Coffie of Brooklyn is 3-0 amb 2 nocauts. Lewis of Conway, Arkansas is 0-2.

 

 

 

Joel Flores of Christopher Burgos fought to a spirited four-round majority draw in a junior lightweight bout.

 

 

Flores of Passaic, New Jersey won a card 39-37, but that was overruled by two 38-38 targetes.

 

 

Flores is 0-0-2. Burgos of Philadelphia is 0-2-1.

Despite scoring two knockdowns, Jerrod Miner had to settle for a majority draw with Rondarrious Hunter in their four-round super flyweight bout.
Miner took a card 39-35, while two cards read even at 37-37.
Miner of Philadelphia is 1-1-1. Hunter of Atlanta is 1-2-1.

(Febrer 27, 2018)–El invicte prospecte de pes gall cristià Carto (13-0, 11 KOs) has been buckling down in training camp for his showdown with once-beaten James Gordon Smith (12-1, 7 KOs) in the headline fight of a seven bout card that will take place aquest divendres nit a El Casino Sugarhouse.

Carto, 21 years-old of Philadelphia has been training in his hometown, where he has built up one-of, if not the biggest fan base in the city.
“Camp has been good. I have done a lot of sparring with different sparring partners,” said Carto.
In Smith, Carto is in with arguably his toughest opponent, whose lone blemish came on ShoBox to hard-hitting Joshua Greer.
“Smith seems to be a good a fighter. I watched a couple of his fights, and even in the fight he lost, he fought well until he got caught.”
Carto stopped his 1st eleven opponents, but had to go the full distance of eight-rounds in his last two outings. Carto was not disappointed that his knockout streak ended.
“It would have been nice to have kept that streak going, but I am not upset. I actually thought in my last fight against Luis Saavedra that I was close to getting him out of there but he did a good job in hanging in there and going the distance. It was a good experience to go eight-rounds. Estalvio 10-12 rondes, so I knew I could go eight rounds.”
