Lightweight Contender Tony Luis to Serve on Broadcast Commentary Team on CBS Sports Network, Vrydag, Mei 29 in Memphis

Lightweight contender Tony “Weerlig” Luis says it’ll be the realization of a childhood dream when he serves as guest analyst on the broadcast team this Friday, Mei 29.

“It’s another childhood dream come true,” said Luis of doing commentary. “My mom was a stickler with me over reading when I was little, but once I got the hang of it and discovered boxing, look out! “Max Kellerman motivated me when i was younger,” said Luis of his influences. “I saw a young guy with a passion for boxing. Max is a very good commentator and has developed a good eye for the sport, but I feel I have an edge because I actually live it and know what it is like to be in that ring.”

Luis (19-3, 7 Uitklophoue), who lost a controversial decision in a world-title fight in England against England’s Derry Matthews in April, will next be seen, in ring, Junie 25 Niagara Falls, New York against an opponent that is TBA.

Canada’s Tony Luis Disappointed in Scoring of Controversial Loss, but Vows to Keep Fighting for his Goals!

Canadian lightweight Tony “Weerlig” Luis (19-3, 7 Uitklophoue) says he’s disappointed with the scoring of his controversial unanimous-decision loss last weekend to Derry Mathews (38-9-2, 20 Uitklophoue) for the interim WBA Lightweight title in Matthews’ hometown of Liverpool, Engeland, but won’t let it deter him from his goals.

Despite taking the fight on three days’ kennisgewing, Luis seemed to outwork Matthews in most rounds and would probably be wearing a championship belt today, had the fight been contested on neutral ground. Despite his disappointment in the scoring, Luis says taking the fight was still a good career choice. “It was absolutely the right decision. You don’t turn down a title shot. But taking it on three days’ kennisgewing, we knew we’d have to shake off the jetlag quickly. My game plan was good, but on such short notice, it wasn’t muscle memory. I had to keep thinking about it in the ring. That’s why I think it took me three rounds to get going. Despite all this, I still won the fight. Now I know I belong among the champions in this division and that’s a good feeling.”

Luis’ promotor, Greg Cohen van Greg Cohen Promotions, says he’s pleased with his fighter’s strong performance and will immediately go to work for the 27-year-old.

“Tony looked sensational Saterdag,” gesê Cohen. “Taking the fight on such short notice, you’d think fatigue would play a role, but he was a machine in there. That shows you how hard he works in the gym. Of course we’re disappointed in the scoring, but looking at the big picture, we now know we have a championship-caliber fighter in Tony. He responded perfectly to the pressure of a world championship fight. I will be petitioning the sanctioning bodies to keep Tony high up in the ratings and give him another title shot very soon. This time on neutral ground.”

Luis will be returning to action quickly, he is set to fight for a regional title against an opponent TBA on Junie 26 at the Seneca Niagara Event Center in Niagara Falls, New York, and live on CBS Sports Network.

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y.. – The thrill of championship professional boxing is returning to Niagara Falls, NY. Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino and Greg Cohen Promotions (produced by David Schuster’s Winner Take All Productions), in compliance with the Seneca Nation of Indians Athletic Commission, announced today that an installment of the popular “Championship Boxing op CBS Sports Network” series will be presented in the Seneca Niagara Event Center on Vrydag, Junie 26.

The night’s card is being dubbed the Sully Huff Invitational, in memory of Stanley “Sully” Huff, a successful boxer from the Seneca Nation of Indians, wat oorlede in 2014 op die ouderdom van 84. Before the highly debatable decision loss for the world championship in mid-April, the 27-year-old Tony Luis, van Cornwall, Ontario, pulled off a dominant 10-round unanimous-decision upset victory over then IBF #15 Rated Karl “Dinamiet” Dargan in January. Hogan Outworks Brunson on CBS Sports Network Night of Boxing

Brunson, who seems to have morphed into a counter puncher since his days as the King of the KO 1 earlier in his career, had a good round eight and seemed to hurt Hogan with a right. He kept it interesting throughout by catching Hogan coming in with right hands.

Several thudding knockouts punctuated the rest of the night’s action.

In the night’s co-main event, lightweight slugger Ismael Barroso made quick work of Memphis, Tennessee veteran Ira Terry, knocking him out inside of a round.

The southpaw Barroso, El Tigre, Venezuela, moved his record to 18-0-2, 17 KOs by flattening Terry (nou 26-14, 16 Uitklophoue) with a devastating left hand. Barroso’s reputation seems to grow with every frightening performance. Terry tried moving to his left and being elusive, but it only took one shot from Barroso’s cement fists. Referee Mark Nelson began a count when Terry went down, but quickly waved it off at 2:49.

San Antonio, Texas, super bantamweight Adam “Mantequilla” Lopez (11-0, 6 Uitklophoue) furthered his reputation as an up-and-coming prospect by levelling Saint Paul, Minnesota’s Philip Adyaka (4-5, 2 Uitklophoue) with a monstrous left hook at 58 seconds of round two. 24-year-old Lopez was too big and too powerful for the smaller Adyaka. Lopez impressed, showing off his world-class weaponry while banging to the head and body, especially with the left hook. Adyaka bravely tried to rise, but stumbled back into the ropes and the fight was waved off.

In a six-round heavyweight match-up, fan favorite Joey “Minnesota Ice” Abell (30-8, 29 Uitklophoue) of nearby Coon Rapids, Minnesota, started his comeback by stopping journeyman Travis “Iron Man” Fulton (22-39-1, 21 Uitklophoue) of Cedar Falls, Iowa in three rounds. Out of the ring for more than a year, the southpaw Abell finally shook off the rust and got through with a volley of punches against the ropes, which badly stunned Fulton. The came at 34 seconds with Fulton dazed but still standing. I’m starting over. I want to get a couple wins and hopefully get a big fight here,” said Abell, post-stryd. Ongelukkig, Abell slipped awkwardly in the first round and reportedly suffered a serious ankle injury.

In a four-round, all-Minneapolis super heavyweight showdown to open the night, 316-lb Van “Die Man” Goeieman, nou 4-5-2, 4 Uitklophoue, picked up a good win over299-lb Brett Murphy, nou 1-1, 1 KO via TKO 2.
