TERRELL GAUSHA: “WE’RE GOING TO GIVE TIM TSZYU A DIFFERENT LOOK THAN HE’S EVER SEEN BEFORE”

Super Welterweight Contender Gausha Faces Unbeaten Rising Star Tim Tszyu in SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING®

Main Event Saturday, Kovas 26 from The Armory in Minneapolis

LOS ANGELES – March 17, 2022 - Ne JAV. Olympian and super welterweight contenderTerrell Gaushais confident that he’ll be spoiling the stateside debut of unbeaten rising starTim Tszyuwhen they square off on Saturday, Kovas 26 gyvena Showtime® headlining a Premier Boxing Champions event from The Armory in Minneapolis.

“We’ve been working on some different things for this fight,” said Gausha. “We’re going to give Tim Tszyu a different look than he’s seen before. Compared to most of the fights that everyone has seen, they’re going to see something new from me on March 26.”

Tszyu, the son of Hall of Fame fighter Kostya Tszyu, will be making his much-anticipated debut in the U.S. against Gausha, after dominating his first 20 fights in his native Australia. For the Cleveland native Gausha, his motivation comes from within and not from the hype surrounding Tszyu entering this matchup.

“I’m just motivated period,” said Gausha. “It’s got nothing to do with any hype around Tszyu. It has everything to do with where I’m at in my life and my career. Things are happening at the right time for me. I’m in a good place. This is the perfect fight for me at this point in my career.

“I appreciate him for taking this challenge. Most other fighters would try to protect their record. This shows that he believes in himself. He wants the tough fights. Cela dit, I think he took the wrong fight.”

Gausha scored an impressive knockout over young contender Jamontay Clark in his last fight, stopping his opponent in round two in March 2021, and will look to build on that triumph against a bigger name in Tszyu.

“That was a good fight for me against Clark,” said Gausha. “I wanted to get right back in the ring, but sometimes it’s hard to make fights with certain guys. I have a great opportunity against Tszyu and I’m looking to capitalize and build off of my last performance. I’m going to make an even bigger splash in this fight.”

Training in Los Angeles with Manny Robles and Prenice Brewer, Gausha has received excellent sparring leading up to fight night, having shared the ring with 154-pound champion Brian Castaño, welterweight contender Vergil Ortiz and 2020 Ne JAV. Olympian Delante Johnson. While Gausha expects Tszyu to display his typical come forward style, he plans to be ready for anything that his opponent presents.

“I expect Tim to try to bring pressure and come forward,” said Gausha. “He’s a one-trick pony. Ką matote, yra tai, ką jūs gaunate. He doesn’t do too many things spectacularly, but what he does do well, he does it very well, and that’s bring the pressure. We have something ready for that and we’re going to do our thing no matter what he tries to do.”

Gausha previously challenged for the 154-pound world title in losing a 2017 decision against Erislandy Lara and also owns a decision defeat to Erickson Lubin and a draw against former champion Austin Trout. Dabar, Gausha will look to catapult himself right back into the title picture with a victory on March 26.

“After everyone sees this performance on March 26, they’re going to know where I fit into this division,” said Gausha. “I’ve got a job to do. Dabar, I’m really just starting to show people my skills and what I can do. This is going to solidify that. I’m knocking on the door of a title fight right now. A win over Tszyu would be great for my career and get me to the world titles.”

Uncasville, Conn.

Noriu [Jermall] Charlo, Canelo Alvarez, Kalebas augalų, Visi jie."

Jis niekada skauda man, tai juokingas dalykas. I took a lot of shots but he didn’t damage me or have me super hurt. I never thought about quitting.”

The sports world lost an icon today as the death of Marvelous Marvin Hagler was reported hours before the live telecast began. A member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame, Hagler, kuris buvo 66 metai, fought in the first main event ever on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING on March 10, 1986. Hagler was honored with a ceremonial 10-count prior to tonight’s main event. Click Here to Watch SHOWTIME’s Tribute to Marvin Hagler

Benavidez reflected on Hagler’s passing after the fight: “I had met Marvin once before and he was a great champion. Someone told me he fought the first fight on SHOWTIME. Someone on my team let me know a few hours before the fight that he had passed. Liūdna ir jis bus praleistas. Jis buvo tikra legenda “.

Be bendro pagrindinis renginio, Isaacas Cruzas (21-1-1, 15 Kos) Meksiko pelnė vieningą sprendimo pergalę prieš Argentinos Matiasas Romero (24-1, 8 Kos) 12 turų WBA lengvo svorio kategorijos eliminatoriuje. Neoficialus „SHOWTIME“ žaidėjas Steve'as Farhoodas įmušė kovą 115-112, duodamas raundus 10 per 12 kylančiai žvaigždei.

„Aš nesu patenkintas kovos stiliumi, tačiau esu patenkintas, kad parsivežiau pergalę namo ir mes priėjome„ Ne “. 1 vieta WBA,Sakė Cruz. „Aš nežinojau, kas nutiks [kiek teisėjai]. Mes visą laiką privertėme kovą, o teisėjams būtų buvę labai neįmanoma ką nors padaryti man, kai aš buvau stumiantis kovą “.

Visą 36 minučių romaną, Cruzas nuolat darė spaudimą priešininkui, kuris privertė Romero, labiau patyręs profesionalas, pernelyg laikytis bandant sustabdyti spaudimą. Nepaisant to, kad teisėjas Harvey'as Dockas dažnai įspėjo, 24-erių Romero niekada nebuvo nubaustas.

„Man buvo labai atsibodę klinikos - jam niekada nebuvo įspėjimo. Aš padariau viską iš ten. Not the best way I wanted to do it but thank God we won the fight and we’re taking the victory home.”

Romero presented an effective jab throughout the fight, nusileidimas 89 apie 282, but it was Cruz’s power punching that ultimately earned him the victory. Kryžius, who is now the No. 1 contender for a world title shot at 135 svarų, nusileido 145 apie 459 Baterijos štampus, įskirtinai 91 Kūno kadrai.

“Obviously I’m not happy with the decision,” stated Romero following his first professional loss. “I thought maybe it was a draw. Overall I’m happy with my performance. He’s supposed to the be the ‘Pit Bull’ and I went the distance. You have to take the opportunities when they are presented and I wish I would have had more time to get ready for this fight.”

In the evening’s opening bout, Cleveland’s Terrell Gausha (22-2-1, 11 Kos) scored an impressive second-round technical knockout over fellow Ohioan Jamontay Clark (15-2-1, 7 Kos) Cincinnati. Gausha, 33, did not land a single power punch in the opening round but worked well behind the jab, winning the round on two of the judges’ scorecards. As the second round neared completion, Gausha beautifully countered a lunging left hand from the southpaw Clark which sent the 26-year-old to the canvas for the first time in his professional career. Clark beat the count but moments later was met by a barrage of unanswered punches in the neutral corner. Referee Arthur Mercante jumped in and called a halt to the bout at 2:44 antrojo turo.

“I knew Jamontay was a tough kid, I’ve been watching him since Cleveland so I knew about him already,” said Gausha.

Pirmuoju ir vieninteliu pasaulio titulu nušovė 2017, Gausha dropped a unanimous decision to current super welterweight world champion Erislandy Lara.

“I know I made a statement tonight,“- pridūrė Gausha. “I put the division on notice. I’m locked and loaded and I’m ready. I want to be a world champion so I’m looking to fight whoever I need to fight to get to the belts.”

Šeštadienio Showtime ČEMPIONATO Boksas telecast will replay Sunday at 8:55 tarifu. ET/PT on SHOWTIME and Monday at 10 p.m. ET on SHOWTIME EXTREME.

We need to do that again. That wasn’t right,” said Trout of Las Cruces, N.M. “Let’s do it again. That was after a year layoff. Timing is going to be off. Now that I am a little more active. I need an immediate rematch. Immediate.

You never know how the judges are seeing it, but I know 99-91 už (Gausha) wasn’t right. I was definitely in there more than one round,” continued Trout. “But I didn’t feel good in there tonight. I had to force a lot of things, and I had to close the gap in the later rounds.

I felt like I won the fight,” said Cleveland native Gausha. “That’s boxing sometimes. You don’t get the decision.

I have been through a lot this camp. Yra kaip yra,” continued Gausha. “I caught a bad cold the last week of training camp. My father passed away during this training camp.

I don’t really care about a rematch with Trout,” concluded Gausha. “I just want bigger fights. I’d like to do something different. But if we have to go through (Upėtakis) again we’ll do it and just make it more convincing next time.

In the FS1 co-feature, unbeaten contender Chordale Booker (15-0, 7 Kos) defeated rugged veteran Wale Omotoso (27-4, 21 Kos) vienbalsiu sprendimu (100-90 X 3) į 10-turas Super Papildsvars konkursas. "Booker, a southpaw from Stamford, Conn., dominated the action against the Nigerian Omotoso.

I’m always emotional when I fight,” said Booker. “Šiandien, I just let it all out. I feel like this was my time to shine after finally making it to this level. This was definitely a step-up fight for me, facing a guy that they told me nobody else wanted to fight.

I feel like I’ve got nothing to lose,” continued Booker. “I just feel like I’m supposed to be here. I’ve put in a lot of work to get where I’m at, but I could have gone down a very different path. I got a second chance at life and now look where I’m at. I’d love to fight Trout or Gausha next, or any other title challenger that wants to fight, Aš pasiruošęs. I pitched a shutout tonight and I’m prepared to be tested and prove I’m the best.

The opening bout on FS1 featured Ahmedas Elbiali (19-1, 16 Kos), an Egyptian-American who lives in Miami, Floridos, scoring a technical knockout victory over Marlos Simões (13-2-2, 5 Kos) of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil who was unable to continue due to an injured jaw. Elbiali knocked Simões to the canvas and referee Keith Hughes stopped the contest 2:12 into the second frame.

When he went down, I clipped him with a left hook,” Sakė Elbiali. “I knew right away that I could hurt him, and that hook felt like it landed well. He was a tricky and really awkward opponent, but I just went for it and got the job done.

I don’t really like calling out individual fighters, but I feel like I’m ready for a world title shot,” continued Elbiali. “We’re getting better with every fight and I’m ready.

The swing bout on FS1 saw Chicago’s Shawn Simpson (10-0, 3 Kos) pralaimėjimas Sergio Quiroz (6-2, 1 KO) of Los Angeles by unanimous decision (60-54 X 3).

LAS VEGAS (Gegužė 22, 2019) – Light heavyweight brawler Ahmedas Elbiali will return to the ring, and for the first time with new trainer Justin Gamber, kai jis susiduria su Marlos Simões in a 10-round showdown as part of Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes action this Saturday night from Beau Rivage Resort Casino in Biloxi, Misisipės.

PBC on FS1 and FOX Deportes begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT and is headlined by former super welterweight champion Ostinas “Be abejonės” Upėtakis returning to the ring to take on former title challenger Terrell Gausha in a 10-round super welterweight battle.

Bilietus į renginį, kuris yra skatinamas TGB Akcijos, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Beau Rivage Theatre box office and through Ticketmaster.

Elbiali has recently began working with a new trainer in Gamber, who also trains super middleweight champion Caleb Plant, and will look to show his improvement in the ring this Saturday night. Here is what he had to say about his new trainer and more:

On training with new coach Justin Gamber:I’ve been learning a lot since I started training with Justin Gamber, which was about six weeks ago. Nothing against my old trainers, I just felt I needed a new look. Justin and I work well together and I’ve improved tremendously. I’m learning how to relax more in the ring, which has helped me keep my power in the later rounds of sparring. Justin is a great coach and together we are going to make some noise in the light heavyweight division.

On his recent training camp:
I’ve put in a lot of hard work for this training camp and I can see the difference compared to other camps I’ve had in the past. I’m working on the fundamentals of boxing, using my jab more and setting up my combinations. I know I have the power to knock out my opponents, but now I’m learning more how to set it up. Living and training in Las Vegas has been a big boost to my career because the sparring out here is second to none. I’m having a great training camp.

On his matchup with Marlos Simões:
I know Simões is a durable opponent who’s only been stopped once in his career. I’m expecting him to be in great shape. He’s had a lot of success in the ring, so I’m preparing for a guy who can really fight. I’m just going to go in there and execute my game plan.

On when he will be ready for a world title shot:
I want to get as many fights as possible this year and make a world title run in 2020. Žinoma, everything is predicated fight to fight, but that is the goal.

On making his televised return on FS1:
Fighting on FS1 is always fun and exciting. FS1 is the platform where us fighters get the most exposure while we’re coming up. You can’t compare any other network to FOX, where the whole world can tune in. It’s truly a blessing for me to be fighting on FS1.

Be bendro funkcija, unbeaten super welterweight contenderChordale Booker battles rugged veteranWale Omotoso in a 10-round bout, while sensational unbeaten welterweight prospectEimantas Stanionis will open the broadcast at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT in an eight or 10-round welterweight fight.

Bilietus į renginį, kuris yra skatinamas TGB Akcijos, go on sale Monday, Balandis 15 and can be purchased at the Beau Rivage Theatre box office and through Ticketmaster.

Austin Trout has one of the best resumes at super welterweight in the sport today,” sakė Tomas Ruda, President of TGB Promotions. “He’s been in the ring with some of the best boxers at 154-pounds of this generation and I’ve never seen him in a bad fight. Terrell Gausha doesn’t back down from anyone and that will make for an exciting match against Trout. Chordale Booker will be putting his unbeaten record on the line against Wale Omotoso in what will be one of his toughest tests to date. It’s a show that has something for everyone that attends at Beau Rivage or tunes in to FS1 and FOX Deportes.

Upėtakis (31-5, 17 Kos) has tangled with some of the top super welterweights of this generation, including Saul Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Miguel Cotto, Jermell and Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. The 33-year-old from Las Cruces, Meksika, will look to rebound from a majority decision defeat to Jermell Charlo last June. His knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in 2015 headlined the first PBC show on FS1.

I’m excited to be back in the ring,” sakė Upėtakiai. “I’m ready to take another chop at the world title and this is my way back. I’m really motivated to get that championship belt again. Gausha is a strong, technical fighter with an Olympic pedigree. I’ve got to get in there and take care of him and look good doing it. A good win over him will get me right back in the mix.

The 31-year-old Gausha (21-1, 10 Kos), a member of the 2012 Ne JAV. Olympic boxing team from Cleveland, Ohajas, will look to put himself back into title contention with a victory over Trout. He came up short in his first title fight against Erislandy Lara, losing a unanimous decision in 2017, before rebounding with a knockout victory over Joey Hernandez in his last fight in December.

I feel good about this fight and I think it’s the perfect fight for me,” said Gausha. “With Austin Trout being a former champion and having experience fighting all the top guys in the division, it gives me a chance to show where I’m at. It’s not only about winning, but it’s the way I’ll win that will put people on notice.

"Booker (14-0, 7 Kos) is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan De Angel in January on FS1. The 27-year-old southpaw from Stamford, Conn., was busy in 2018, vyksta 5-0 su trimis Knockouts. Booker is very active in his Stamford community as well, running his charity for at-risk youth and training amateurs for the Golden Gloves.

My expectations for myself are to put on the best performance I’ve had in boxing periodamateur or pro,” said Booker. “I’m looking to showcase every ability that I have, not just brute strength. I want to show people that I’m championship caliber. What I see from him is that he’s a game fighter and comes to fight. He likes to come forward. He’s going to try to take it to me. But I can do a lot of things, box going forward, backwards, sideways, or anything it will take to get this win.

The 33-year-old Omotoso (27-3, 21 Kos) is a hard-nosed veteran who will present Booker with his toughest test to date. Born in Lagos, Nigerija, Omotoso learned to fight in the streets before honing his skills in the boxing gym. He calls himself “Laimingas Vaikinas” because he feels fortunate to have made it off the streets alive and become a successful professional boxer. Now training in Los Angeles, Omotoso most recently defeated Freddy Hernandez in December 2017.

I got the call to fight a young, undefeated fighter in Booker and I said bring it on,” said Omotoso. “I’m really happy he took the fight because most people say I’m too dangerous and too tough. I will give it all I got. When I go to the ring I put all my effort and training into the fight. That’s the way this sport is. I know he’s going to come in with all he’s got, but the toughest man will win.

Stanionis (8-0, 5 Kos) is from Kaunas, Lithuania and was a member of the 2016 Lithuanian Olympic boxing team. 24-erių, who now lives in Oxnard, Kalifornija, and trains with Ronnie Shields in Texas, is on the fast track toward being a top contender. He’s continued to impress with victories over durable veterans Levan Ghvamichava and Samuel Figueroa in his last two bouts.

I was well prepared for Willie Monroe, kas yra Southpaw, so there won’t be that much difference facing Korobov,” Sakė Charlo. “There is a size difference. He’s taller than Monroe, but I’ll just have to adjust my game plan. The best fighters in the world are the ones who are able to make the best adjustments. Beating Korobov is going to make the victory that much sweeter due to this adversity. That means the celebration is going to be sweeter as well. He was fighting on the undercard, so he’s prepared. But now fighting for the title in the top spot is going to make him fight harder. Man tai patinka. He’s a much better opponent on paper than Willie Monroe Jr.

I was training to fight on this card so I am physically and mentally ready to fight,” said Korobov. “It doesn’t matter that I am taking this fight on a week’s notice because I have been preparing for this moment my entire life. I will make a few adjustments for Charlo and make the most of this opportunity. Do not miss it. Make sure you tune-in to FOX for a great fight.

The Charlo vs. Korobov bout is part of a blockbuster PBC on FOX show that features the Charlo Twins defending their world titles and a heavyweight showdown between Dominic Breazeale and Carlos Negron beginning at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
