Питсбург, Пенсилванија…. “Right idea, wrong fight”, those were the words of Dallas welterweight, Jonathan Steele who gained his 8th victory as a professional on WFC 87 at Meadows Racetrack and Casino. Steele, who entered the ring у суботу са 9 fights under his belt squared off against the seasoned veteran, Steven Upsher, 25-5-1(6kos), who was attempting a comeback bid in front of his hometown crowd.

Steele dominated the fight from the opening bell, banging Upsher to the body, which ultimately led to the 31 fight veteran to quit in the 5th round of their scheduled 8 округли боут.

“We took the fight on a two week notice. My initial fight on May 18th was canceled, and Upsher’s opponent pulled out at the last minute. I didn’t care what his record was, or who he fought. I knew he had never faced a guy like me before.” Steele added.

Ennis, who was last seen dropping a 10-round unanimous decision to new WBC Super Middleweight champion Badou Jack, is looking to get back into contention with a big outing over the veteran from Ghana.

After what Ennis admitted was a lackluster performance against Jack, he needed some time away from the sport in order to get himself back on track.

Ennis also took the time off to get into some training camps and improve on his own game.
“I was in camp with David Lemieux for when he fought Gabriel Rosado. It was during that time I got my head back and now is where I need to be. I need to go out and listen to my dad (Trainer Bozy Ennis). I am in 32 година сада. То је то. It is either all or nothing.”

In one of the 8-round co-features, Steve Upsher Chambers (24-4-1, 6 КО је) returns to the city where he cut his teeth as a professional to take on Alejandro Rodriguez (24-16-1, 14 КО је) у Јр. Велтервеигхт боут.
Chambers, who came originally to Philadelphia with former Heavyweight title challenger, “Брзо” Еддие Цхамберс, fought 23 times and the famed Blue Horizon in Philadelphia and will be making his first start in the City of Brotherly Love in almost 6 године.
