Shumenov stops Wright in 10th round of WBA cruiserweight world title fight

“Hat’s off to Jermall Charlo. He fought a hell of a fight,” Austin Trout said. “I felt like I did enough to win. They won’t give me a close decision, so it’s time to start taking these cats out. But I can’t make excuses. I fought my ass off, Charlo fought his ass off and hats off to him.

 

“I’m going to live to fight another day. You’re going to see me back. We’re warriors out here.’’

 

Two minutes into the eighth round, Jermell Charlo, trailing 69-64 on the three judges’ scorecards, landed a perfect counter right hand to Jackson’s left eye. As Jackson dropped his guard to insure his mouthpiece was in place, Jermell connected with two more right hands that sent Jackson falling forward into his corner. Defenseless and seemingly out on his feet, referee Tony Weeks stepped in immediately and stopped it at 0:51.

 

“It’s history,” said Jermell, who entered the match as the WBC No. 1 contender and became the 66º ShoBox: La Nova Generació fighter to capture a world title.

 

“We did it. A lot of fighters don’t come out of Houston and we did it. I’m waiting for my brother next. We’ve been boxing for all of these years and it had to happen.

 

“I was behind. He was boxing, he was moving around a lot. That was unexpected of him. I thought he was going to come out to brawl. I had to make an adjustment and I did.

 

“When he started slowing down, I was able to catch him with a shot. I knew that if he could have continued he could have come back so I had to hit him.”

 

While both were selective with their punches, throwing just 427 combined shots through eight and a half rounds, Jermell was the more accurate fighter. The new WBC champ landed 23 per cent del seu total de ponches, Incloent 34 percent of his power shots against Jackson.

“As usual Lara’s style is extremely difficult for the judges to score,” Farhood said. “He’s so selective with his punches, yet he lands such a high percentage of them. And to make it even more difficult, a lot of Martirosyan’s body punches were blocked. The judges agreed on seven of the 12 rondes. It clearly was a close fight and what got Lara over the top was the 10-8 score in round 11.

 

“We benefit from the use of replay. Watching the punch that brought the deduction on replay, I believe that it wasn’t a low blow.

 

“Lara did what Lara does. Martirosyan fought about as well as he could. The difference was Lara’s accuracy and ring generalship. I think Martirosyan’s competitiveness made it a good fight.”

 

Lara, 33, was making his fourth title defense. “This is normal,” said Lara who landed 60 percent of the 160-plus power punches. “This is boxing, not baseball. Low blows and headbutts happen. I’m a very intelligent fighter and at no point did I feel this fight was going to be lost.

 

“My mother and kids are still there so it would be a great privilege to go fight in my native Cuba. Everything is possible in this world. I didn’t think I’d be champion of the world and here I am.

“I’m proud of what my brother has done. His success motivates me. He’s a world champion. These are the kind of things we look forward to.
“This is our time. There is no more that we can say. There is a lot that’s coming ahead of us.

LAS VEGAS (Set. 13, 2015) – Floyd “Diners” Mayweather realitzat una última obra mestra en dissabte viure SHOWTIME PPV® en el que ell insisteix va ser l'última baralla de la seva distingida carrera de 19 anys.
Abans 13,395 aficionats al MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mayweather va millorar a 49-0 (26 KOs), igualant el rècord del mort campió de pes pesat Rocky Marcià amb una decisió de 12 assalts sobre l'ex campió mundial de pes welter en dues ocasions Andre Berto (30-4, 23 KOs). En un control total des del principi, Mayweather va ser victoriós amb les puntuacions 120-108, 118-110 i 117-111.
Després de la campana final, Mayweather es va posar de genolls en el reflex del seu acte final.
“Has de saber quan cal penjar-,” dir a SHOWTIME de Jim Gray en el ring després. “Estic trucant a la porta; Estic prop de 40 anys.

Berto es va mostrar satisfet amb la seva actuació, però va admetre que no estava en el nivell de Mayweather.

Recollint on ho van deixar quan van lluitar en una candidata a baralla de l'any a l'abril passat, guanyat per Martínez, Tots dos peleadores van intercanviar cops durant 36 minuts d'acció ferotge. Cada baixar a la tercera ronda. En una altra baralla de títol mundial, Badou Jack “El Esbudellador” (20-1-1, 12 KOs) defensar amb èxit el seu títol súper mitjà del CMB Mundial amb una renyida, decisió majoritària de 12 assalts multitud-agradable sobre el retador obligatori “Sant” George Groves (21-3, 16 KOs). Gat, que van abandonar Groves tarda a la primera ronda, triomfat amb les puntuacions 116-111, 115-112 i 113-114. La mala sort Groves, qui sobtadament va fugir del ring en la incredulitat després de l'anunci, caure a 0-3 en baralles de títol mundial.
Jack va ser impressionant en el que va poder haver estat el seu baralla més dura fins a la data.
“Groves té molt de cor,” va dir Jack, qui estava fent la defensa inicial del cinturó del CMB que va prendre d'Anthony Dirrell a l'abril.
“Carrosseria està convertint en la meva signatura. Jo no era prou eficaç, perquè jo no podia noquejar. Em vaig sentir com després de la primera volta que vaig poder però simplement no vaig poder. No vaig anar al cos prou.
“No he pensat en la meva pròxima baralla encara, però hi ha un munt de grans baralles per a mi. Vaig sentir Julio César Chávez Jr. vol lluitar amb mi. Vull gaudir d'aquesta victòria, però vaig a barallar amb qui sigui.”

Però ens esperava una dura lluita de (Martirosyan). És llarga, llargarut i un bon colpejador, però és per això que volia entrar i lluitar amb ell allà.

“Estic segur de guanyar. Sempre estic segur de guanyar. La millor manera de descriure aquesta lluita és que Badou Jack és un bon boxejador, però sóc un millor lluitador. Jo sóc millor que ell en totes les fases del joc.
