Zurdo Ramirez chasing his legacy Fighting for 44-0 vs. Dominic Boesel

LAS VEGAS (Abril 28, 2022) – Rather than wait for the winner of the May 7º Las Vegas showdown between superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and World Boxing Association (AMB) Super Light Heavyweight Champion Dimitry Bivol, or take a meaningless stay-busy fight, former World Super Middleweight Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez will put his impeccable 43-0 (39 KOs) record on the line May 14º versus German Dominic Boesel (32-2, 12 KOs), the reigning International Boxing Organization (IBO) Light Heavyweight World title holder and WBA No. 1 contendent puntuació.

“Zurdo vs. Boesel,” presented by Golden Boy Promotions in association with Zurdo Promotions and SES Boxing, will stream live and exclusively on DAZN from Toyota Arena in Ontario, Califòrnia. The winner of their 12-round main event will position himself for a shot at the Canelo vs. Bivol winner.

“Boesel is the No. 1 European light heavyweight who has all the accolades to make this a challenging fight,", va dir Ramírez. “Of course, Bivol (CMB & IBF champion Artur), Beterbiev and (WBO champion Joe) Smith are still at the top of my list, but they were all unavailable. Even though they are on the top of my list, I’m not waiting for them, I’ve got my own legacy to chase. I’ve said before, Beterbiev and Smith are average fighters at best, and they know not to mention my name. Bivol was close to making it (fight vs. Esquerrà) happen, but he got the Canelo opportunity, so I don’t blame him.”

Boesel, who has fought outside of Europe, és 2-1 in IBO world title fights, losing to Robin Krasniqi, while Zurdo is 6-0 fighting in world championships. Boesel is also a former WBA Interim, European and WBO Youth World lightweight champion.

“I’m looking forward to this challenge,” Zurdo added. “He knows this fight can change his life. I’m the best light heavyweight in the world, but I still need to bring my best come fight night. I will have an advantage in experience, but I can’t take him lightly because, he’s a longtime pro who knows how to take advantage of the moment.”

Because he was blocked from fighting for the WBA, OMB, WBC or IBF light heavyweight world titles right now, due to the aforementioned unavailability of Bivol, Beterbiev and Smith, Ramirez considered formally challenging WBC Cruiserweight World Champion Ilunga Junior Makabu (29-2, 25 KOs). It never came to that, però, Zurdo does plan to move up, but only after he takes care of business clearing out the 175-pound division.

“I still plan on moving up to cruiserweight and eventually heavyweight,” Zurdo offered. “It’s always been my goal to be a 4-division world champion.”

LAS VEGAS (Gener 21, 2021) – If 29-year-oldGilberto "Esquerrà" Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs), arguably already one of the top 25 Mexican fighters of all-time, has his way as he enters his prime years, he will eventually have a mega-showdown with fellow countrymanSaul “Canelo” Alvarez (54-2-32, 36 KOs) before making their way to the Hall of Fame.

“Anything is possible, and it’ll be great for fans if a fight for me against ‘Canelo’ happens,” Ramirez said. “With two Mexicans in the ring, you know it’ll be a war from round one. We’ll see what happens in the future.”

“I never look past any fight,” Ramirez noted. “In this sport, on any given night, the best man will win. All I can do is train hard and prepare myself to be my best for when the occasion arises. Marró, Bivol, Beterbiev or Canelo, it doesn’t matter who I fight; I always train hard to make sure I’m ready when the fight is here.”

Ramirez became the first Mexican fighter to capture a world super middleweight crown in 2016, when the athletic southpaw thoroughly dominated defending champion“King” Arthur Abraham (44-4), winning each round for a 12-round unanimous decision (120-106 X 3) to become the WBO world champion.

En 2019, Alvarez joined WBO titlistJulio Cesar Gonzalez (2003) as the only Mexican-born light heavyweight champions of the world, when he stopped 34-3-1Sergey Kovalev al 11º round to become the WBO World light heavyweight champion. The 9-time, 4-division world champion Alvarez relinquished his WBO light heavyweight crown without defending it.

Ramirez is off to the 5º-best winning streak to start a professional career in Mexican boxing history behind four Hall of Famers: his idolJuli Cèsar Chavez (87), Carlos Zarate (52), Ricardo López (47) iMarc Antoni Barrera (43). 

The dream match for “Zurdo,” of course, is down the road against Canelo. How about having it on Cinco de Mayo or Mexican Independence Day? 

Between then and now, però, Ramirez needs a career-defining victory against a primetime opponent such as Beterbiev or Bivol to set the stage for a Canelo showdown.

U.S. commercial establishments

TENAFLY, N.J. (Novembre 14, 2018) — Integrated Sports Media (ISM), one of the leading distributors of combat sports programming in North America, has announced it has a signed, exclusive agreement to distribute DAZN programming to commercial establishments in the United States.

ISM will be responsible for distributing DAZN programming in the U.S. to bars, restaurants, casinos and sports books.

ISM is distributing its first DAZN boxing program on Saturday, Desembre 15, showcasing Alvarez (50-1-2, 34 KOs), who will move up one weight class for his Madison Square Garden debut in New York City. Alvarez, who is a 3-time junior middleweight and 3-time middleweight world champion, will challenge WBA Super Middleweight World Champion Rocky Fielding (27-1, 15 KOs) in the 12-round main event.

The 28-year-old Alvarez, arguably the No. 1 pound-4-pound boxer in the world today, is already a boxing icon in his native Mexico, one of the true hotbeds in boxing today. The wildly popular Alvarez has defeated a Who’s Who list of boxers during his incredible 13-year professional career, including past or present world champions such as Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, Juli Cèsar Chavez, Jr., Liam Smith, Amir Khan, Miguel Cotto, Erislandy Lara, Alfredo Angulo, Austin truita, Shane Mosley, Kermit Cintron, Lovemore Ndou i Carlos Manuel Baldomir.

Erik Morales Nicknamed “El Terrible,” is a retired Mexican boxing legend and is being inducted into the International Boxing Hall of fame in Canastota on June 10th, 2018).Morales compiled a 52-9 record in 61 baralles, Incloent 41 straight wins to start his career, and won world titles in four different weight classes (junior featherweight, pes ploma, junior lightweight, welter júnior). He also ended Manny Pacquiao’s six-year unbeaten streak in 2005 with a unanimous decision win.

 

 

 

Morales notable fights came against Marco Antonio Barrera (nicknamed “The Baby Face Assassin”). The Morales versus Barrera trilogy is one of Boxing’s most famous fight trilogies of all time, involving two of Mexico’s most revered boxers. Their memorable fights were also named Ring Magazine’s fight of the year on February 19, 2000 and once again on November 27, 2004.

Fernando Vargas, és un boxejador americà jubilat d'ascendència mexicana i 3 Time world champion with a Pro record of 31 victòries 5 losses and 22 Nocauts. Can Saunders aconsegueix la seva victòria més impressionant fins a la data sobre Lemieux?

Billy Joe Saunders sortirà al ring el desembre 16 al Canadà com a campió vigent i defensor de la mitjana de la OMB, sent l'orgullós propietari d'un cinturó que va guanyar al desembre 2015 en derrotar el company de viatge Andy Lee.

 

Però des que va destacar l’irlandès Lee amb un èxit de decisió majoritària per convertir-se en campió del món al Manchester Arena, Saunders només l'ha defensat en dues ocasions, amb una decisió unànime triomfa sobre Artur Akavov i Willie Monroe Jr., més recentment.

 

Contra el joc rus Akavov, el títol mundial invicte no va ser ni molt menys impressionant i potser fins i tot afortunat d’aconseguir una decisió tan còmoda al final al Lagoon Leisure Centre, a terra escocesa.. La victòria contra el rival nord-americà Monroe Jr va ser molt millor, després d'haver assumit Dominic Ingle com el seu nou entrenador.

 

Però aquest darrer combat va seguir sent un assumpte trist i no va fer res per afavorir ni impulsar Saunders’ atraure a un públic més ampli, mentre treballava amb comoditat la punyeta sud-americana nascuda a Nova York. Durant la major part de la defensa del títol, amb prou feines el feien treballar, amb Monroe amb un pla de joc estranyament ineficient.

 

No obstant això, el jove de 28 anys afrontarà la seva prova de carrera més dura fins ara contra l'excampió de 160 lliures David Lemieux, un desafiament molt més greu que un Chris Eubank Jr, inexpert i juvenil, un indiferent Andy Lee i el lluny d’amenaçar Willy Monroe Junior.
