Portland, מיין (סעפּטעמבער 12, 2018) - ניו ענגלאַנד פייץ (נעף) will hold its final mixed-martial-arts event of 2018, “נעף 36: Battle for the Gold,” אויף שבת, נאָוועמבער 17 at Aura in Portland, מיין. Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur women’s flyweight fight to the card. ב.דזש. Garceau (1-0) is scheduled to face Chelsea Tucker (0-3) בייַ אַ קאַמף וואָג פון 125-פונט.

ב.דזש. Garceau made national headlines earlier this year as she prepared for her in-cage debut with NEF. Diagnosed with Type-1 juvenile diabetes in 1993, Garceau became an inspiration to those within the diabetic community looking to practice the martial arts. בייַ “NEF 32” last February, she went the distance with Sarah Ziehm (1-2) in a back-and-forth contest, ultimately picking up the win via split-decision on the judges’ סקאָרעקאַרדס. Garceau is a member of Young’s MMA based in Bangor, מיין.

“When Coach (קריס) Young asked me if I was free November 17th, I thought he wanted me to be the water girl for the guys on the card,” Garceau quipped. “I say this jokingly, but we’ve had some struggles finding match ups for the Young’s WMMA (women’s mixed-martial-arts) team in the past. Me and my girls are hungry to fight. So when he asked if I’d fight Chelsea, who is a warrior that doesn’t back down from anything, of course my answer was ‘yes.’ I adore Chelsea and am ready to put on a hell of a show for the fans, my team and the beautiful city of Portland, Maine this November.”

The casual observer should not let Chelsea Tucker’s record fool them. Scrappy, talented and full of heart, Tucker has come to fight each time she has stepped in the cage. She has appeared four times in the NEF cage, including a non-sanctioned grappling match with Carol Linn Powell that went to a draw last April in Portland. Tucker proudly serves her country as a culinary specialist with the United States Coast Guard stationed in Boothbay, מיין. She trains with First Class MMA in Brunswick, מיין.

“I am very excited to step back into the cage,” said Tucker. “I look forward to fighting B.J. דאס איז געגאנגען צו זייַן אַ גרויס קאַמף, and I look forward to representing my gym and my skill set again in the NEF cage.”

STACKED FIGHT CARD OPENS THE YEAR FOR NEF IN LEWISTON

לעוויסטאָן, מיין (יאַנואַר 11, 2017) -נעוו ענגלאַנד פייץ (נעף) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on פעברואַר 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “נעף 27: RESURGENCE.” Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the full card for the event. The night will feature both amateur and professional MMA bouts.

 

Headlining the evening will be the semi-finals of the tournament to crown a new professional lightweight champion. The title was vacated when previous champion Devin פּאַואַל (8-1) signed with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (ופק). Ryan Sanders (12-8) וועט נעמען אויף John Ortolani (8-10) ווייַלע דזשאָן לעמקע (5-7) פנימער דזשעסי עריקסאַן (9-5) in a rematch from Bellator 93. The winners of those two bouts will meet in the finals tentatively scheduled for “NEF 28” later this year.

 

In a highly-anticipated heavyweight bout, Ras Hylton (0-0) וועט מאַכן זייַן פאַכמאַן דעבוט קעגן מייק האַנסען (5-4). The 6’6″ Hylton, אָדער “Rasquatch” as he is known amongst his fans, was voted the “2016 רוקי פון די יאָר” by NEF fans after going 3-0 ווי אַ ליבהאָבער. Hansen was a Maine state wrestling champion for Mountain Valley High School (מווהס), and he has developed quite a reputation for downing larger opponents on both the mats and the MMA cage. Hansen was the recipient of the “2016 Submission of the Year” פּרעמיע.

 

Speaking of 2016 אַוואָרד ווינערז, די “פייטער פון די יאר,” פעאַטהערוועיגהט ויסקוק אהרן לאַסעי (4-0), will look for his fifth consecutive victory in less than a year when he meets Florida’s Chris Jacobs (1-0). Jacobs put together an impressive 8-3 רעקאָרד ווי אַ ליבהאָבער, winning regional titles along the way.

 

The amateur card will feature a bout for the light-heavyweight strap as ריאַן גלאָווער (3-1) דעפענדס קעגן Victor Irwin (2-0). Glover has held the title since last February. Both Glover and Irwin were Maine state wrestling champions – Glover with MVHS and Irwin with Brewer High School.

 

Also scheduled on the amateur card are no less than three women’s bouts. אַנגעלאַ יונגע (1-2), who put on multiple “פייט פון די נאַכט” performances in 2016, returns to face New Hampshire’s Christine Brothwell (0-2). Young’s teammate, Katie Baker (0-0), will make her in-cage debut against another tough competitor from the Granite State in the form of אַלעקס וואָקער (2-1), ווייַלע Sarah Ziehm makes her debut against Nicole Burgess (0-1).

BROTHER AND SISTER MMA FIGHTERS RETURN TO CAGE AT NEF 27

לעוויסטאָן, מיין (דעצעמבער 15, 2016) -נעוו ענגלאַנד פייץ (נעף) returns to the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on פעברואַר 11, 2017 with its next mixed-martial-arts event, “נעף 27: RESURGENCE.” Earlier today, the fight promotion announced the addition of two amateur bouts to the card. ריאַן בורגעסס (2-1) וועט שלאַכט דזשאַסטין וויטהאַם (2-4) in a flyweight contest while his sister, Nicole Burgess (0-1), נעמט אויף Sarah Ziehm (0-0) in the strawweight division.

 

This will not be the first time the Burgess siblings have competed on an NEF card together. Last June at “NEF 24,” Ryan and Nicole would taste defeat at the hands of Dustin Veinott (5-4) and Alex Walker (2-1), ריספּעקטיוולי. They will look to redeem themselves on פעברואַר 11.

 

“I’m super excited to get my sister back in the cage on the same card as me,” said Ryan Burgess. “She has always been a competitor and being able to train side by side with her throughout this fight camp will help me as much as it will help her. She is tough as nails and everything I will be helping her learn over the next two months will just reinforce the knowledge I have already obtained from my coaches. Her debut was against a seasoned fighter in Alex Walker and I can’t wait to see her take home her first win on February 11th.”

 

Ryan and Nicole are based out of the Berserkers MMA camp in Rumford, מיין. They grew up in neighboring Mexico, מיין. Ryan was a three-time state wrestling champion out of Mountain Valley High School, while Nicole, a multi-sport athlete, also wrestled and excelled in field hockey. She has continued her field hockey career at Plymouth State University. Ryan captured the NEF MMA Flyweight Title last year. Both siblings are confident that Nicole can replicate his success in the cage.

 

“Training with my brother is both a challenge and a blessing,” said Nicole. “We’ll get on each other’s nerves, but at the end of the day we want each other to succeed. מער, he’s a good partner to have on your team.”

 

Ryan’s bout at “נעף 27” will be a rematch. In their first meeting, he defeated Justin Witham via unanimous decision at “NEF 18” in the summer of 2015.

 

“Rematching Witham will be a perfect opportunity for me to showcase the huge strides I have made over the last year and a half since the beginning of my MMA career. He is a really tough dude and I know he will show up for a war, but I have made huge improvements in all aspects of my game since adding Jason Bell to my corner and I will be the one to decide the outcome of this fight. I will control the pace of the fight and whether I want to take it to him on the feet or take him down and submit him, there is nothing he will be able to do to stop me. This fight will not go three rounds.”

 

Justin Witham is a member of the Shatterproof Combat Club. Since his loss to Burgess, Witham has gone 2-1 including an impressive submission win over Conner Murphy (1-1) אין זיין רובֿ פריש עקסקורסיע. Witham is certain that he can defeat Burgess in the rematch.

 

“I’ve been wanting this fight since the second our first fight was over,” exclaimed Witham. “I can and will win!”

 

As for Nicole, she will be taking on the debuting Sarah Ziehm. Ziehm is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (קמבדזשדזש) based in nearby Auburn, מיין.

 

“I’m looking forward to getting back into the cage,” said Nicole. “I think my first fight was a good learning experience and I got out all my nerves that I didn’t expect to have. איצט, it’s my turn to come out with a ‘W’ for my team.”
