FORMER IBF WORLD CHAMPION JONATHAN “SALOMON KING” GUZMAN SIGNS WITH EL MATADOR MANAGEMENT

QUEENS, NY (May 15th, 2018) – El Matador Management, Inc. has announced the signing of hard hitting super bantamweight contender, Jonathan “Salomon Raja” Guzman (23-1, 22 KO). Felipe Gomez will now be managing the career of hard hitting and former IBF World Super Bantamweight Champion Guzman, who hails from Santo Domingo, Republik Dominika. Gomez will be working closely with Sampson Lewkowicz (Guzman’ Promotor) as they jointly look to keep Guzman busy, while guiding him back toward a world title.

 

 

 

Guzman won the IBF World Super Bantamweight Title with an 11-round stoppage over Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KO) di Jepang. Guzman then defended his title against Yukinori Oguni (18-1-1, 8 KO) in Kyoto, Japan losing a 12-round unanimous decision.

 

 

 

“I been out of the ring for over a year now and I know Felipe Gomez can help jump-start my career again.” said Guzman. “I see the job he is doing with all his fighters and how he has been keeping them busy. That is exactly what I need, someone that can help keep me busy fighting and that also believes in me becoming a World Champion again.”

Fortuna Returns with Impressive KO over Formerly Undefeated Cabrera

Pada Hari Sabtu night in front of a standing-room-only crowd at the Sambil Commercial Center in Santo Domingo, Republik Dominika, former world super featherweight champion Javier “The Abejon” Fortuna returned to action with an impressive two-round blowout of fellow Dominican Marlyn Cabrera.
In his first fight since a surprise defeat last June to Jason Sosa that cost him his WBA World Super Featherweight Championship, Nasib (30-1-1, 22 Biaya) dropped Cabrera twice in the second round, eliciting the stoppage. It was Cabrera’s first loss as a professional.
Fortuna’s victory was one of three Sampson Boxing fighters to win Hari Sabtumalam.
Undefeated 21-year-old Dominican super welterweight Jeison “Banana” Rosario (12-0, 9 Biaya) destroyed formerly undefeated Carlos Jairo Cruz (saat ini 17-1, 11 Biaya) in two rounds and 22-year-old super featherweight Abraham “Super” Nova moved his record to 3-0, 2 KOs with a fourth-round knockout over Willy Morillo.
Fortuna looked sharp in his comeback bout, putting the explosive power and speed that makes him one of the most exciting fighters in all of boxing. With the victory over Cabrera in the books, the southpaw former champion will now be looking to regain his championship status.
Fortuna’s promoter, Sampson Lewkowicz, says his fighter has two options to consider for his next fight.
“Next we will either look for an elimination bout for the IBF mandatory contender to fight Jose Pedraza or we will look to face the winner of Jason Sosa vs. Stephen Smith in Monaco on November 12,” kata Lewkowicz. “Javier wants to be champion again and he’ll fight anyone to get there.”
Rosario, a recent Sampson Boxing signee to a long-term promotional agreement, is a former amateur standout with a wealth of boxing talent. Cruz stood no chance against the Santo Domingo-based slugger.
“Jeison is a future star and I’m happy to have him in my stable,” terus Lewkowicz. “I will get him a visa to fight in the USA and pay his IRS taxes, which I do for all my fighters.”

IBF #2 super bantamweight contender Jonathan “Salomon Raja” Guzman (21-0, 21 Biaya) is hard at work preparing for the “fight of his life” with trainer Hector Bermudez at Peter Welch’s Gym in Boston.
The 26-year-old KO artist from Santo Domingo, Republik Dominika, will face IBF #1 contender Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 Biaya) pada tanggal Hari Rabu, Bulan Juli 20, at EDION Arena Osaka in Osaka, Jepang, for the vacant IBF World super bantamweight title.
Guzman, who stopped Mexico’s tough Daniel Rosas in eighth round on Bulan April 29 to earn this fight, says his dreams are so close to coming true he can almost taste them. “I have waited my whole life for a world title fight and now it’s almost here,” said Guzman. “I can’t wait to get in the ring and win for my family and my country.”
Trainer Bermudez says Guzman has too many weapons to fall short in this fight. “Although Jonathan has never had to go the distance because his power is amazing, he can also box very well. He’s just never had to thus far in his career. Jonathan is the complete package and soon the world will be learning all about him. There is no way that Wake can beat him.”
