Edmonton, Canada (November 6, 2017)In its continuing efforts as the boxing network destination for Canadian boxing fans, Super Channel has announced that it has secured the exclusive rights to air the LiamBeefy” Smith vs. Liam Williams rematch, lokhu ngoMgqibelo (Nov. 11), live from Metro Radio Arena in New Castle, I-United Kingdom.
The replay of Smith vs. Williams I from this past April will also air on Super Channel lokhu Friday(11 p.m. / 8 p.m. PT) futhi Saturday (1:45 p.m. KANYE / 10:45 a.m. PT).
The Smith vs. Williams II ikhadi, presented by Frank Warren’s Queensbury Promotions andukuqala at 3 p.m. KANYE / 12 p.m. PT, will be a 12-round World Boxing Organization (WBO) super welterweight title eliminator with the winner positioned to fight the winner of the WBO title fight between defending champion Miguel Cotto futhi inselele Sadam Ali ngoDisemba. Okuphekiwe, Nokho, claims that he will retire after that fight. Williams is presently rated No. 2 by the WBO, Smith No. 4, kanye No. 7 in The Ring magazine’s independent rankings.
Additional Smith vs. Williams II card fights airing Saturday on Super Channel will be announced later this week.
With the World Boxing Super Series taking a break before the semi-final matches return in the new year, we are excited to be able to continue to deliver high-stakes, world-class boxing to Canadian fight fans with this highly acclaimed rematch between Smith and Williams,” wathi Troy Wassill, Director of Programming, Domestic Distributors & Sports for Super Channel. “Given the controversy surrounding their initial match in April, tension will be high and both fighters will be looking to settle a score.
In the last fight for both boxers, Smith (25-1-1, 14 Kos) won a controversial fight last April when Williams retired after the ninth round, despite leading on all three judgesscorecards by identical scores of 86-85. Williams had suffered a double laceration on his right eyebrow that he claimed was the result of Smith’s flagrant headbutt in the third round. Smith believes he was robbed of the opportunity to knockout Williams.
The 29-year-old Smith captured the WBO Super Welterweight World Championship in 2015, stopping American Josh Thompson (17-1) in the seventh round. The gifted Brit made two successful title defenses against fellow countryman and previously undefeated “Jimmy” Kilrain Kelly (16-0) futhi Predrag Radosevic (30-1), stopping them in the seventh and second rounds, ngokulandelana.
Smith lost his belt to star USawule “Canelo” Alvarez a year ago, getting knocked out in the ninth round of their WBO title fight in Texas. Smith won a four-round decision against Marian Cazacu in a tune-up fight this past March, setting the stage for an interim WBO super welterweight title fight against Williams last April in Manchester, UK. Smith won the fight but was ineligible to capture the interim title because he failed to make the contracted weight.
I don’t think you had to be a good fighter to beat me in the first six rounds of our first fight,” Smith said about his original fight with Williams. “I was slow, flat and sluggish. I can never be that bad again. What I did to try and make weight during fight week killed me. It was nothing to do with having a slow start by game plan. Liam had a good start and I couldn’t have been worse. Bangu 10 fighters in Britain that could have properly out-boxed me on that night.
The fight was changing before round nine. He threw his head in numerous times because I didn’t get cut off it. Regardless, you go in the ring, you get wet. The minute you got cut, you knew your chips were down. You spewed it! You chose to let Gary (his head trainer) pull you out. You knew you’d had your moment and you were gone.
I was up for this rematch and that is why we’re here now. As soon as I start better, Liam is going to be in more of a fight earlier on and he won’t get his own way. It is only to go one way and he is going to crumble earlier than he did last time. I am stronger than him and I have more heart than him.
Williams, 25, has notable victories over Gabor Gorbics (22-4) for the vacant WBO European super middleweight title, futhi Gary Corcoran (15-0) for the BBBBofC British crown. The Welshman also was the Commonwealth (British Empire) 154-ganda division titlist.
Our first meeting was a good fight,” Williams explained. “I felt like I started very well. I was out-boxing him and getting a lot of rounds in the bag. Uyeza angivume, which we were always prepared for, (ngoba) that is the kind of fighter Liam is. He comes with a very solid defense and he is very strong.
Obviously it ended the way it did. It wasn’t fair. We didn’t give the fans a chance to see what the proper outcome should have been. I took a nasty cut to the eye. These things happen, it isn’t a tickling contest. These things happen in boxing and I’m glad to get a chance to do it again.
I think he was down in the fight and he needed to do something. It was frustrating, and I do believe the head clash was intentional. We are both going to be better. I am going to be more prepared and it is going to be another cracking fight. I’m going to put this to bed.

JENNINGS & SANTANA GAIN RESPECT WITH FANS

IJEZI ELISHA (May 5, 2015) – Ngemuva HBO World Championship Boxing had one of their highest rated shows since 2012 with the Klitschko vs. Jennings championship bout on April 25th, Gary Shaw feels his fighters, Bryant Jennings (19-1, 10 Kos) futhi Francisco Santana (22-4-1, 11 Kos), can make quick comebacks to the big stage.

There is no doubt in my mind that Bryant Jennings and Francisco Santana are fighters the fans want see,” wathi Gary Shaw. “The viewership that HBO had on April 25th was fantastic and I believe Jennings and Santana had a lot to do with those high ratings. Jennings because of his activity on social media. Santana because he has a tremendous amount of Latin fans that support him. With ukuthi kusho, I believe both fighters, will be back on the big stage in the future.

Bryant Jennings gained a ton of respect for his gallant effort against Klitschko, in which he went the distance, giving Wladimir his toughest fight in recent years, proving he was deserving of a title shot. Francisco Santana, who also went the distance with Sadam Ali, showed remarkable heart as he fought hard in every round, giving the fans their money’s worth.

Bryant Jennings proved he’s an elite heavyweight contender with his performance against Klitschko,” Gary Shaw waqhubeka. “Santana is a Mexican warrior and both fighters gained a lot of fans that night. Both fighters pressed the action, taking the fight to their opponents, bringing excitement to the bout. Many in attendance felt the scores for both Jennings and Santana were not reflective of their fights. It was a lot closer then what the judges scorecards read. Jennings and Santana both love being HBO fighters. I have plans to bring them back to HBO.

Camp Notes/Photos: Bryant Jennings Looking To End Klitschko’s Reign

On training in Houston, Texas…

It’s really nice to get away from home and all the distractions that come with training in Philly. I’m able to focus on nothing but boxing out here in Houston. I got my whole team out here and were grinding away.

On his upcoming matchup with Wladimir Klitschko

This is the top of the mountain when it comes to heavyweight boxing. You can’t get any higher then fighting Klitschko. With ukuthi kusho, I’m ready to end Klitschko’s reign as heavyweight champion. He’s been defeated before and he can be defeated again. I’m confident I have the athleticism and skills to come out on top and bring those belts back home to America.

On fighting at Madison Square Garden….

Everyone knows The Garden is filled with deep roots in boxing history. I’m looking to make my own history with a victory on 25 April. This will be my third consecutive fight there and I feel my fan base has grown with each outing. I’m know Philly will be representing and I’m excited about that. I’m counting down the days and I’m very grateful to my promoters, Gary Shaw, Antonio Leonard, as well as my managerJames Prince for making this fight a reality.

On the possibility of becoming the next great American heavyweight champion

A victory against Klitschko will certainly bring back glory to the American heavyweight. Klitschko has reigned supreme for so many years, so it will be a huge accomplishment to bring home the titles. Dethroning Klitschko will open up many doors for my career and I see myself relishing in the moment.

FRANCISCO SANTANA PROMISES BRUTAL WAR WITH SADAM ALI

SANTA BARBARA, NJENGE (April 7, 2015)Gary Shaw Productions ekuphumeni star, welterweight Francisco “Ungahlukıselana” Santana (22-3-1, 10 Kos), is riding a 10-fight winning streak going into his highly anticipated clash with undefeated 2008 U.S. Olympian, Port “World Kid” Ingabe (21-0, 13 Kos). The doubleheader uzobe isiqephu bukhoma HBO World Championship Boxing isiqala at 10:00 p.m. KANYE/PT.

Training camp update

Training camp is going as planned. I’ve added a few new things that will be on display 25 April. Right now it’s about sharpening up the tools that got me here. There is nothing that needs to be changed. I’ve been active so I know I’ll be ready to showcase my talents on HBO come fight night.

Reflects on his journey to Madison Square Garden

It’s been a hard fought journey to get where I’m at today. After suffering a few losses I decided I was going to dedicate my life to this sport and give it my all. With a lot of hard work and support from my promoter Gary Shaw, I’m now fighting on the biggest stage at the most prestigious venue in boxing. Madison Square Garden is where every fighter dreams they can fight. It’s my time to show the world I’m on the championship level.

Relationship with Trainer JosephHossJanik

When you have the right trainer in your corner, it’s truly a blessing. Hoss is the man and he always tells me like it is. If I’m not doing something right he’ll let me know right away, he doesn’t beat around the bush. I’m on a ten fight winning streak and he has a lot to do with it. You couldn’t ask for a better man in the corner.

Sparring at Wild Card Boxing Gym

When you walk into the Wild Card gym you know going in its going to be a rugged day of sparring. The gym is filled with world champions and top prospects. You can’t replicate the work you get there.

On his matchup with Sadam Ali

Sadam Ali is a world class fighter with elite boxing skills, but I feel my style will give him problems. He puts his punches together well and he made a strong statement in his last fight against Abregu. A win against Ali will propel me into a world title fight. Believe me when I say I’m going to bring it on 25 April, it’s going to be a brutal war!”

Sadam Ali vs. Francisco Santana is a 10-round welterweight bout presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions. The HBO World Championship Boxing telecast uqala at 10:00 p.m. KANYE/PT.
