Tony DeMarco at his statue dedication in Boston’s North End.

באָסטאָן, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ (מאַרץ 22, 2019):

Coming off the heels of the sold out 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Clash which has amassed over 225,000 online views, Murphys באָקסינג is proud to announce the creation of the Warrior’s Code Award to celebrate the achievements of New England’s most legendary boxers.

The award’s first recipients will be 2019 אינטערנאַציאָנאַלע באָקסינג האַלל פון רום inductee,טאני דעמאַרקאָ and one of Massachusettsmost decorated amateur boxers, Mike D’Ampolo.

Both fighters will be presented with their awards next פרייַטיק, March 29th at the Murphys Boxing event at Memorial Hall אין Melrose, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ.

בייַ 87 יאר אַלט, Tony DeMarco holds the distinction of being boxing’s oldest living world champion and has been a beloved figure in the Boston sports world for over half a century.

Known as ‘Nardo’, the Boston fighter of Italian descent, turned pro unbelievably just a few years after the end of World War II. אין אַ 14 year career, DeMarco went 52-12-1 while fighting during boxing’s golden age. His legendary battles with Hall of Famers like קאַרמען באַסיליאָו און Kid Gavilin made DeMarco a star and he won the welterweight world title אין 1955 קעגן Johnny Saxton at the original Boston Garden in a fight that was voted one of Boston’s Top 10 Sports Moments.

דעמאַרקאָ, who still can be found ringside at Murphys Boxing events and whose statue resides in Boston’s North End where he still lives, will receive the long overdue honor of joining the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a 2019 inductee this June.

“Murphys Boxing has always been very welcoming to me and my family.”, explains DeMarco.

“They have a true respect for boxing’s history. It’s an honor to be given their first ever award just months before entering the International Boxing Hall of Fame. I am looking forward to the evening.”

Joining DeMarco will be Melrose’s own, Mike D’Ampolo, who is considered one of the most successful amateurs ever to come out of the state of Massachusetts.

D’Ampolo was a New England Golden Gloves Champion, אַ 3x New England AAU Champ, אַ 2x Eastern Regional Champion and participated in the 1984 אָלימפּיק טריאַלסbarely missing a spot on the legendary 1984 USA Olympic Team with his weight class ultimately being represented by none other than עוואַנדער האָליפיעלד.

On advice from his father, D’Ampolo made the decision to not enter the professional ranks and went onto become a successful businessman with his company, ב&L Transit Systems based out of his hometown of Melrose, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ.

I’m humbled. Back when we were fighting, there wasn’t much recognition or credit given to amateurs.”, says D’Ampolo.

“I used to be in the paper back then but it’s been a long time and I’m just very grateful to Murphys Boxing for remembering and honoring me here in my hometown.

Murphys Boxing founder, Ken Casey explains the promotion’s decision to name Demarco and D’Ampolo as the first two recipients of the award named after one of the Dropkick Murphy’s signature songs, “The Warrior’s Code” which is a tribute to another New England boxing hero, מיקקי וואַרד.

“The idea stemmed from Tony DeMarco finally being inducted into the Boxing Hall of Fame. We wanted to celebrate Tony at one of our local shows before his big day and in talking we realized their were so many other retired New England based fighters both professional and amateur that, like Tony, deserved more recognition.”

The Warrior’s Code Award is a way for us to honor those locally who have come before us and given so much to the sport we love. Boston and beyond has such a rich boxing history, it’s important for Murphys Boxing to respect and honor that as well as educate a new generation about these warriors that have paved the way.”

The presentation of Murphys Boxing’s 1st Annual Warrior’s Code Award will take place during the Murphys Boxing “Mayhem in Melrose” event next Friday, March 29th which features the return of Stoneham’s Greg Vendetti (20-3-1, 12 קאָס) ווס. מאַני וואָאָדס (16-8-1, 6 קאָס) אין די 10 round main event as well as a packed undercard of Massachusetts based fighters including:

באָסטאָן, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ (פעברואַר 26, 2019):

Murphys באָקסינג is proud to announce the return of junior middleweight contender and fan favorite, Greg Vendetti (20-3-1, 12 קאָס) ווער וועט נעמען אויף מאַני וואָאָדס (16-8-1, 6 קאָס) אויף פרייטאג, March 29th at Memorial Hall אין Melrose, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ אין אַ 10 קייַלעכיק באַוט.

Vendetti, who last summer pulled off a massive upset against former world title challenger,Yoshihiro Kamegai אויף עספּנ2, found himself in the Top 10 rankings and was offered the chance to fight France’s מיטשעל סאָראָ פֿאַר די WBA Interim Super Welterweight Championship in Paris this past December.

‘The Villain’, who was on an incredible 16 fight winning streak, came up short in his first shot at a title but is looking to get back in the winning column in front of his hometown fans at Memorial Hall in a tough match up against upset specialist, מאַני וואָאָדס.

Despite the loss, 2018 was an amazing year for me. איך געהאַלטן 5 times and I had the biggest win of my career as a B-side against Kamegai which landed me in the Top 10. We were offered the Soro fight for the Interim world title and even though I felt like my body needed some time off, you can’t say no to that kind of opportunity. You never know when or if it will come again.”, explains the Stoneham, Massachusetts native.

It was a rough camp. I trained too hard. My body was falling apart. As for the fight, it was an ugly knockout but that’s part of the game. I’m proud of how I handled it. No shame. No embarrassment. I wasn’t phased by it. Of course I wasn’t happy about it but my first thought was what do we do to get better? The fight showed me I have to get sharper. Continue to be aggressive but be smarter and more tactical about it. It was only one battle in a long war.

As for taking on a seasoned veteran like Woods when he could have easily asked for a tune up, Vendetti shows the attitude that has made him such a fan favorite.

I like to fight and wanted to be in a real fight in my return. Knocking out a ham and egger in the first round isn’t enjoyable for me or the fans. It’s a waste of a camp and a weight cut not to mention you don’t learn anything. Woods is a durable, legit guy who is coming to win. That’s what I need and want.

And after going 50/50 against against world class opposition last year, would Vendetti be willing to take on a top 10 fighter again in 2019?

“100%. I want to make a statement against Woods then keep improving with each fight. I don’t want to take any steps back with the opposition. Everything forward. As long as I’m healthy, I will fight anyone in the division.

אין די גלויבנס-הויפּט געשעעניש, fellow Murphys Boxing stablemate and Massachusetts fan favorite, Ryan Kielczweski (29-4, 11 קאָס) will take on an opponent to be named in an 8 round contest in the lightweight division.

‘The Polish Princeis coming off his show stealing back and forth battle with Tommy Coyle at TD Garden in Boston this past October on the undercard of the דעמעטריוס אַנדראַדע WBO world middleweight title fight.

Despite dropping the decision, קיעלקזוועסקי, who hails from Quincy, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ, showed world class talent and massive heart in an all out war that had the arena crowd on it’s feet.

Also featured on the card will be the most recent addition to Murphys Boxing’s growing roster, Mike Ohan Jr. (8-0, 5 קאָס).

The son of a popular New England area professional fighter in the 1990s, Ohan Jr. followed in his father’s footsteps going 82-10 in the amateurs and picking up multiple New England Golden Gloves טיטלען.

Fighting a remarkable 8 מאל אין 2 years and upping the competition level in each outing, including a unanimous decision over veteran, Daniel Sostre in his last fight, Ohan has been on the fast track as a professional. The impressive win lead to the young fighter, who hails from Holbrook, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ, being offered a contract with Murphys Boxing.

I am beyond excited to be a part of the Murphys Boxing family.”, says Ohan, דזשוניער. who will fight an opponent to be named in a 6 round bout on the card.

Being with such an active promotional company will give me the opportunity to grow as a fighter and showcase my skills as I move towards my dream of one day being a world champion.

In addition to the three headlining local favorites, the card will feature a 4 round super lightweight women’s bout between Jillian DiAuto (1-1, 1 קאָ) און Sarah Click (0-1-1), as well as the east coast debut of Venezuelan super lightweight sensation, Luis Arcon (5-0, 5 קאָס) who will take on an opponent to be named in a 6 קייַלעכיק באַוט.

3 more undercard bouts will be announced shortly to kick off the night at the beloved throwback venue which has become a mainstay of Murphys Boxing.

Memorial Hall is my favorite fight venue.”, says Ken Casey, founder of Murphys Boxing.

It gets incredibly loud in there when Greg fights and with the bowl seating, it feels like a mini coliseum.

Vendetti, who will be making his 7th appearance at the always sold out venue, couldn’t agree more with his promoter.

It’s intense. I really do feel like a gladiator fighting in a coliseum when I’m at Memorial Hall and for a gladiator there’s only two optionsvictory or death.

Vendetti vs. Woods takes place on Saturday, March 29h at Memorial Hall in Melrose, מאַססאַטשוסעטץ (590 Main Street). Doors open at 7pm. טיקקעץ זענען אויף פאַרקויף איצט בייַ: www.murphysboxing.com

Granite Chin’sRumble at The RIM” באַאַמטער רעזולטאַטן

Good to finish because he eats his spinach
Russell Kimber wins pro debut
HAMPTON, נ.ה. (דעצעמבער 9, 2017) — Colorful light heavyweight prospect ריטשארד “פּאָפּייע די סאַילאָר מענטש” ריוועראַ געבליבן ונדעפעאַטעד (5-0, 4 קאָס), וועטעראַן ראָבערטאָ “די אַלטע” וואַלענזועלאַ, last night (שבת) אין די “Rumble at The RIM” הויפּט געשעעניש, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at The RIM Sports Complex in Hampton, New Hampshire.
ריוועראַ, fighting out of Hartford (קאָרט), controlled the action from the opening bell against his battle-tested opponent from Mexico, who had a tremendous experience advantage in his 147טה pro fight, compared to Rivera’s fifth.
Valenzuela spent most of the time on the ropes, while Rivera teed-off on him, until a beautiful placed left hook by Rivera decked Valenzuela, who failed to get up until after referee מייק רייאַן completed the 10-count.
A busload of Rivera’s fans drove five hours from Hartford through a snowstorm, arriving just before Rivera entered the ring. “That means a lot to me,” Rivera smiled as he spoke about his fans. “We’re more than a gym, מיר ניטאָ משפּחה.
I was so used to an amateur style but now I’m a pro. I’m relaxing and picking my punches. ווייַטער, I want to win the New England title. It’s vacant and I want it!”
This was our first show in New Hampshire and I consider it a success,” co-promoter Chuck Shearns האט, “despite some things going against us like tonight’s weather. We’re grateful for the support we received from Hampton, New Hampshire, the commission and local businesses. They worked with us and we can’t wait to return.
The son and nephew of multiple-time world kickboxing championsfather Tommy and uncleworked his cornerPeabody, מאַ Russell Kimber had a promising pro debut against tough Nathan Schulte in a match contested at a 185-pound catchweight. The 32-year-old Kimber, who was the crowd favorite having lived several years in New Hampshire, overcame the determined Schulte for a hard-fought victory by way of a four-round majority decision.
I was a little nervous with this being my first time in a pro ring,” Kimber admitted after his fight. “I hadn’t been in a ring for 1 ½ years and there was some ring rust. איצט, I know what I need to good, and I’ll be a lot better next fight. This was my first camp and I’ve learned a lot. I’d like to stay busy, come back in late January, early February.
Undefeated Whitman, MA junior welterweight prospect מייק “Bad ManOhan, דזשוניער.charged across the ring, unloading a powerful right that immediately sent Bardraiel Smith to the canvas. Smith somehow got to his feet but Ohan quickly ended Smith’s night, only 30-second into round one, as referee Ryan waved off the action.
New England cruiserweight champion and the show’s co-promoter, Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (25-5, 19 קאָס) outclassed Fabian Valdez en route to a win by second-round knockout in a stay-busy fight to close out 2017. In a non-title fight contested at a 185-pounds catchweight, the Quincy, MA-based Traietti floored his game Mexican opponent with a straight right midway through the opening round, closing the show in the second round with a series of unanswered punches.
The only New Hampshire native on the card, Claremont junior middleweight Ricky Ford(1-1-1) won his first pro fight, taking a lop-sided, four-round unanimous decision over pro MMA fighter Andy Aiello, who made his pro boxing debut.
In another stay-busy fight, former world-rated ריאַן “די פּויליש פּרינס” קיעלקזוועסקי(27-3, 9 קאָס), fighting out of Quincy (מאַ), needed only 51-seconds to finish off Mexican lightweight פֿראַנסיסקאָ “El MonoMedal. Kielczweski hit Medal with a with a lethal left to the body, leaving Medal in obvious pain and unable to rise before the 10-count.
New Jersey middleweight קריס “Sandman” טאמעס (7-0-1, 4 קאָס) kept his unbeaten pro record intact with a second-round stoppage of Demetrius Thomas. Thomas used a rapid-fire combination to drop Thomas, who beat the count, but he was getting hammered when referee Ryan stopped the fight late in the second round.

בעטהלעהעם, פּאַ. (אַפּריל 5, 2017) – Former title challenger עדנער טשערי (36-7-2, 19 קאָס) won a competitive decision over אָמאַר דאָוגלאַס (17-2, 12 פּרייסיז) אין די הויפּט געשעעניש פוןפּרעמיער באָקסינג טשאַמפּיאָנס פינגער פונ פוס-צו-טאָו טועסדייַס אויף פס1 און באָקסינג טשאַמפּיאָנשיפּ אויף FOX ספּאָרט דינסטיק night from Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, פּאַ.
Cherry came out aggressive from the opening bell, landing a strong left hook and backing up Douglas early and often over the first few rounds. Douglas attempted to control the fight with his jab and movement and had some success moving his head to avoid many of the power punches from Cherry.
Douglas did well as he increased his attack to the body in the middle rounds and continued to move backward to avoid the power punches being thrown by Cherry. The differing styles left the judges with a decision to make in weighing the movement and technique of Douglas versus the aggression of Cherry.
אין די סוף, the consistency of Cherry’s attack, who frequently targeted Douglas with combinations to the head, was more effective in the minds of the judges. The final score totals were 98-92 און 96-94 twice for Cherry.
Additional action featured Philadelphia’s סטיווען פולטאָן (11-0, 5 קאָס) earning a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Luis Rosario (8-1-1, 7 קאָס) in their eight-round super bantamweight contest.
Rosario was the more aggressive fighter in the early rounds, but it was Fulton who timed his opponent first and built up an early lead with a combination of check hooks and power punches. Fulton was patient against the attack-minded Rosario and was able to counter effectively while avoiding Rosario’s power punches.
Fulton continued to have success in the middle rounds as Rosario’s attack slowed, but the Puerto Rican fighter came out with an increased level of aggression in round seven and tagged Fulton during several exciting exchanges.
Despite the increasing pressure, Fulton was able to stay composed and fend off Rosario over the final two rounds on his way to winning a unanimous decision by scores of 78-74, 79-73 און 80-72.
The opening bout of the telecast saw Bethlehem’s Frank DeAlba (22-2-2, 9 קאָס) score a unanimous decision over Ryan Kielczweski (26-3, 8 קאָס) אין אַן אַכט-קייַלעכיק סופּער פעאַטהערוועיגהט באַוט.
The hometown fighter got off to a slow start as Kielczweski appeared to control the early rounds using his movement and tagging the southpaw with right hands. DeAlba began to work on the inside of his opponent and found more success starting in the fourth round.
Once he had closed the distance, DeAlba began to land hooks to the head and smothered much of Kielczweski’s offense. With an increased emphasis on body-punching in the late rounds, DeAlba turned the tide of the fight in the judgesminds and earned a unanimous decision by scores of 77-75 צוויי מאָל און 80-72.
דאָ איז וואָס די פיגהטערס האט צו זאָגן דינסטיק נאַכט:
עדנער קאַרש
I take my hat off to Douglas. I thought I pulled out the victory. I tried to press for it but it was a back and forth fight.
I’m excited to get the win. I beat a great young fighter. I hate when people say I’m old because I work harder than these young fighters. I drive an hour and a half to the gym every day to do this.
I’m looking for big things. I want to be great and I want the biggest fights out there. I believe I’m going to get a significant fight.
אָמאַר DOUGLAS
I didn’t lose that fight. Period.
The fight went how I expected it would in the ring. I’ve always been a fan of his. I feel like I fight great competition and I was able to out box him with my jab. He tried to bait me in and I showed I was the better boxer.
STEPHEN FULTON
I feel good winning my first eight-round fight and televised bout. I feel great after that performance. The fight went exactly how I thought.
I knew he would try to drop combinations on me, but I worked my jab and moved so I would not be in a straight line for his left hand.
LUIS ROSARIO
Fulton is a good boxer. He did not want to fight man-to-man, but he moved well. He was shying away from exchanging with me.
I thought it was a close fight that could have gone either way. I blocked a lot of his punches with my gloves.
FRANK DEALBA
“עס איז געווען אַ גרויס קאַמף. He is a tough fighter and I felt I did enough to get the decision. I out boxed him. He was just looking for one big shot.
Hopefully this win gets me to another level. He has fought really good opponents, so a win over him gets me to fight bigger fights. I was in great shape. I saw he was tiring and I thought that was the difference.
רייאַן קיעלקזוועסקי
It was a good fight for me and I stuck to my game plan. In the seventh round he hit me with a body shot and knocked the wind out of me.
It was a close fight but I thought I won 5-3. I could have lived with a draw. He got the close rounds, but every round? Come on.

Cherry of Wauchula, Florida has had a smooth camp while training in the Sunshine State and is ready for the 46th start of his professional start.
Everything is good, and we will be prepared for everything on אפריל 4,” said the 34-year-old Cherry.
“אויף אפריל 4, whatever Douglas brings, we will be prepared for. This is not the first time, that I’ve been in this position. He is the guy who has to prove he can perform. I have been there before, so the pressure is on him.
Cherry has been a top contender at both the 130 און 135 פונט דיוויזשאַנז, and he even challenged for a world title at 140 פונט. He believes there are many reasons that he has remained a viable contender who has only lost once in the last nine years and 13 פייץ.
I am motivated and I believe in myself,” האט קאַרש. “Those are the reasons that I am still here at the top of the 130 און 135 divisions. My family gives me drive every day. אפריל 4 will be another great fight. This is my job and I have to go out and do it well.
Cherry believes a win should gain him another crack at a world title.
A win definitely puts me ahead. It will open doors for better fights and better paydays. A title shot is what I want. But also a bigger money fight that will take care of my family.
Douglas has been training at home in Delaware, has been working hard for this fight, which could be a breakthrough fight on the heels of his narrow defeat to former world champion Javier Fortuna last November.
“אלץ איז גרויס. This has been a long camp. I have been getting great work,” האט דער 26- year-old Douglas.
I am the better fighter. I have known about him for a long time. I watched him a lot when he fought אויף פרייטאג נאַכט פייץ.”
That fight with Fortuna was a major step up, and Douglas had a lot of positive moments, as he dropped the former champion in the 1st round, only to lose by three points on two cards and one point on a third card.
The Fortuna fight let me know and let the people know that Omar Douglas is a world class fighter. Even in a loss, people did not expect me to do well. I thought that I showed a lot that night and I will carry that confidence into this fight on אפריל 4.”
Douglas believes that a win over Cherry is his path to a world title.
I think that it is time. I just happen to be crossing paths with Cherry. This fight makes sense for me. I will let people know that I am player at 130 פונט, and a win will earn me a title shot. I have shown that I will fight anyone. Look at the records of my previous opponents. Fortuna was 30-1 and one fight removed from being a world champion. Alexei Collado was 19-1; Frank De Alba was 17-1. So wins over those guys plus Cherry should have me right there, but I am focusing on Edner Cherry. He is a great veteran, אָבער אויף דינסטיק night I will be victorious.

קאַרש, פון וואַוטשולאַ, פלאַ., enters this fight after a victory of Haskell Rhodes in June of last year and is 11-1 זינט 2009. His only blemishes since 2007 are losses to Timothy Bradley and Paulie Malignaggi at 140-pounds and his title challenge in 2015 against Jose Pedraza in which he dropped a split decision. קאַרש, וואס איז געבוירן אין די באַהאַמאַס, owns victories over Vicente Escobedo, Monte Meza Clay and Wes Ferguson and will look to take down another contender on his way to another title shot.
Fighting out of Wilmington, Delaware, Douglas looks to bounce back after losing a narrow decision to former world champion Javier Fortuna in November. The 26-year-old impressed in his previous two outings when he defeated De Alba in a step up fight in 2015 and followed it up with a seventh round knockout of Alexei Collado in June 2016. Douglas has had his last five fights in Pennsylvania after an amateur career that saw him become a five-time Pennsylvania Golden Glove champion.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Fulton is coming off of a 2016 that saw him stop previously unbeaten Adalberto Zorrilla and Cristian Renteria. The 22-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 and will be looking to make it a perfect 11 wins in 11 pro starts when he enters the ring on אַפּריל 4.
א פּראָ זינט 2013, Rosario fights out of Cidra, Puerto Rico and was unbeaten in his first six bouts before making his U.S. דעבוט אין יוני 2015 with a third-round knockout of Aaron Hollis in Alabama. He followed that up in Cincinnati with a fourth-round stoppage of Aaron Hollis and most recently he won an eight-round decision over Saul Hernandez.
The 29-year-old De Alba had a 19 fight unbeaten streak snapped in December 2015, when he dropped a narrow majority decision to unbeaten Omar Douglas, but he has rebounded with four straight victories since. His last win came over German Meraz in February and he will be fighting for the fourth time at Sands Bethlehem on אַפּריל 4.
א לויפער-אַרויף אין די 2008 לאַנדיש גאָלדען גלאַוו טורנאַמאַנט, the 27-year-old Kielczweski has an exciting style and always makes competitive fights. געבוירן און האט אין Quincy, MA., he won his first first 22 pro fights and enters this contest a winner of four of his last five outings. Most recently he scored a first round knockout over Francisco Medel in December 2016.
