Alemanya, United States and Latvia Play Host to WBO Bouts

The World Boxing Organization (OMB), chaired by Francisco “Paco” Valcárcel, will celebrate five interesting title fights; two of which are for world championships. The bouts will take place this Saturday, Maig 12.

 

 

 

Brooklyn native Saddam “World Kid” Ali (26-1, 14 Nocauts), coming off the most important victory of his career against legendary Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, makes the first defense of his WBO junior middleweight world title, when he faces the dangerous Mexican Jaime Munguía (28-0, 24 Nocauts). The fight will take place at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, Nova York. The fight will be televised live on HBO at 10:00 p.m. I.

 

 

 

“We will have a lot of activity this Saturday from the WBO. You have to pay close attention to the performance of the huge puncher Jaime Munguía, who will face a good attacker like Ali. It’s going to be a classic fight of puncher against a boxer. If Munguía wins, he would be placed on a select list of great Mexican boxers who have been world champions at or before 21 years of age”, said Valcárcel.

 

 

 

In Augsburg, Alemanya, women’s boxing takes the stage when the popular former world champion Nikki Adler (16-1, 9 Nocauts) of Germany and the world contender Femke Hermans (6-1, 3 Nocauts) of Belgium, face each other for the vacant WBO world belt of the super middleweight division. The fight will be in the Eisstadion in Augsburg.

 

 

 

“We remain committed and supportive of women’s boxing. Germany is no exception. This great fight has the community looking on because there is a world title at stake and the fight will be liked by the public”, said Valcárcel.

 

In Latvia, three WBO International titles will be in play in 12-round duels in an evening at the Riga Arena. For the vacant International junior middleweight belt, the 13th ranked Ismail Iliev (10-0-1, 3 Nocauts) of Nazran, Russia will face Konstantin Ponomarev (33-0, 13 Nocauts) of Miass, Rússia.

 

 

 

També, the WBO International Lightweight Champion and 5th ranked Isa Chaniev (12-1, 6 Nocauts) of Nazran, Rússia, will defend his title against the strong Venezuelan puncher, Ismael Barroso (20-1-2, 19 Nocauts).

 

 

 

For the vacant middleweight WBO International belt, Artur Akavov (18-2, 12 Nocauts) from Russia, will face against Argentina’s Gonzalo Coria (12-1, 5 Nocauts).

#1-rated IBF Inter-Continental Female Featherweight Champion Elena Gradinar is calling out the rest of her division’s best.

 

 

 

The undefeated 27-year-old, from Saint Petersburg, Rússia, was last seen dominating former world champion Olivia Gerula in March. She has now set her sights on IBF Champion Jennifer Han and the top-rated female fighters in the featherweight division.

 

 

 

“I am very honored to have the Inter-Continental Title and be their number-one featherweight contender,” said Gradinar. “I want to demonstrate the true definition of a top contender and, aviat, I believe a world champion by fighting the very best in every fight. This is a great time and space for women’s boxing and I am happy to be making my mark in this day and age.”

 

 

 

Based on her heavily decorated amateur career, Gradinar attained the designation of Sport Master of Russia in her homeland and has made quite a name for herself overseas. L'objectiu, però, is for her to begin to make an impact in the US.

SANT PETERSBURG, Rússia (Maig 7, 2018

) – The first Spanish Olympia deadlift champion will face one of the strongest Russian athletes May 24 en M-1 Desafiament 92 in M-1 Arena in Saint Petersburg, Rússia.

Undefeated M-1 Challenge middleweight champion Artem Frolov (10-0-0, M-1: 7-0-0), who was mentioned by Fighters Only Magazine among the 20 top MMA prospects for 2018, will defend his title for the first time against American favorite Joe "Diesel" Riggs (47-17-1, M-1: 2-0-1). Frolov is known as a well-rounded fighter who has defeated all ten of his opponents, four of which he knocked out, and the other four submitted. Vyazigin, who stands 6′ 5″ and weights 250-pounds, is coming off a sensational 16-seconds knockout of Zaur Gadzhibabayev this past March at M-1 Desafiament 89.

 

 

 

One other main card fight has been announced as striker Giga Kukhalashvili (9-3-0, M-1: 2-0-0) meets undefeated Khadis Ibragimov (3-0-0. M-1: 1-0-0) in a battle of undefeated Russian light heavyweights.

SANT PETERSBURG, Rússia (Març 31, 2018) – M-1 Challenge welterweight champion Alexey Kunchenko improved his professional MMA record to a perfect 18-0-0, stopping Russian challenger Alejandro “Iron Capture” Butenko in the third round of last night’s M-1 Challenge 9- esdeveniment principal, at M-1 Arena in Saint Petersburg, Rússia.

The special guest will be Joe Riggs – a UFC and Bellator star who will face off against Boris Polezhay in the co-main event.

SANT PETERSBURG, Rússia (Març 19, 2018) – American mixed-martial-arts star Nate “The Train” Landwehr will compete for his first M-1 Global title, when he takes on red-hot M-1 Challenge featherweight champion Khamzat Dalgiev, al M-1 Desafiament 91 main event at the new M-1 Arena in Saint Petersburg, Rússia.

The 29-year-old Landwehr (10-2-0, M-1: 2-0-0), who fights out of Clarksville, Tennesse, made his M-1 Global debut last September at M-1 Desafiament 83, quan es va aturar Mikhail Korobkov on punches in the second round. Landwehr’s last fight was this past November at M-1 Desafiament 85, at which he won a split decision over Viktor Kolesnik.
Since his first fight in Russia, Landwehr has developed into one of M-1 Global’s most popular fighters, largely due to his fan-friendly fighting style, as well as his showmanship. He made his own promo video, talks trash at press conferences, and broke out into an “ass whooping” song after his fight.
“The Train” never takes a step backwards, trading punches with his opponent from the opening bell, which often results in spectacular fights for MMA fans.
Landwehr (dalt) is an all-around fighter who can ground or pound
Dalgiev (10-1-0, M-1: 7-1-0), de Rússia, ha guanyat 10 fights in a row since he lost his pro debut in 2014. Last November at M-1 Desafiament 86, Dalgiev turned in a shocking performance, knocking out longtime M-1 Challenge featherweight champion Ivan Buchinger in the opening round with a thunderous punch that made him an instant star.
Able to defeat his opponent in a variety of ways, Dalgiev has won five fights by submission with three knockouts, including five opening-round stoppages. If rising to the occasion is his forte, Dalgiev should be sky high to fight Landwehr in one of the most anticipated M-1 Global showdowns in years.

Russian Bantamweight Contender Nikolai Potapov Returns with TKO over Saltykov

Former NABO Champion and #2-rated WBO bantamweight contender Nikolai Potapov returned to action last Saturday night with a TKO 3 over his Russian countryman, Alexander Saltykov.

Fighting at the Floyd Mayweather Boxing Academy in Zhukovka, Rússia, Potapov looked sharp while forcing Saltykov to stay on his stool after two rounds of pounding.
The 28-year-old Potapov holds a victory over former world title challenger Antonio Nieves and fought to a draw with Stephen Young, who is fighting for WBA Interim title this weekend.
“I am excited to get the win and look forward to challenging the best bantamweights in the world,” said Potapov, posterior a la baralla. “Every experience is a lesson and I keep improving with each fight and training camp. Training in Detroit at the Kronk Boxing Gym with Javan Sugar Hill Steward has taken my game to the next level. I am grateful to my promoters Salita Promotions and PBL.
