Unbeaten Prospects Montana Love and Thomas Mattice Win In Co-Featured Bouts

SLOAN, IOWA (Février. 3, 2018) – Undefeated super middleweight prospects Ronald Ellis and Junior Younan fought to a split draw in the main event of ShoBox: La Nouvelle Génération Vendredi on SHOWTIME from WinnaVegas Casino Resort in Sloan, Iowa.

While Ellis was the ShoBox veteran with the stronger resume, Younan entered the fight as a highly touted prospect who had never been tested. He faced his first test vendredi in what was the first scheduled 10-round bout for both fighters.

The fight was fought in flurries, with Younan scoring from the outside and Ellis the aggressor. Except for the eighth round where Brooklyn’s Younan displayed his best work, Ellis seemed to push the action and win the second half of the fight. Ellis had a slight edge in power punch percentage and total punches, but Younan was slightly more accurate. The fighters were even with 96 total connects entering the 10th round, but Ellis (14-0-2, 10 KOs) a remporté le 10e on all three judges’ scorecards by out-landing Younan 21-9.

The 10-round fight was scored 96-94 Ellis, 96-94 Younan, et 95-95.

“I thought I pulled it out. I closed the show at the end,»Dit Ellis, de Lynn, Masse. “I was pressuring him and the fans know I won. “I can improve a little bit, I feel I can finish stronger. I’ve only had one eight-round fight before this so this was a big step up for me. I’m growing and learning every fight.

“I’m heartbroken right now. I wanted to win that fight. I want him in a rematch. I know I would win. I know what to do and what not to do.”

Undefeated lightweight Thomas Mattice rallied from behind to score a seventh round TKO of ShoBox veteran Rolando Chinea in the telecast’s co-feature.

Chinea pushed the action as expected from the opening bell, lancement 90 punches in the first round to set a blistering pace for the scheduled eight-round fight. Chinea, who entered having beaten three previously undefeated fighters in his last four bouts, cut the ring off and pressed forward, keeping Mattice largely against the ropes. Mattice did his best work in the center of the ring, but the undefeated Cleveland native was unable to keep the fight from being contested against the ropes.

Down 59-55 entering the seventh, Mattice (11-0, 9 KOs) caught Chinea with a huge right to the chin and, sensing Chinea was hurt, unloaded with a series of combos to the head. With Chinea seemingly out on his feet and falling sideways to the canvas, referee Adam Pollack stepped in to stop the fight at 1:31 of the seventh.

“It was a rough fight,” Mattice said. “I felt like I was behind and my corner told me I needed a knockout. He buzzed me a few times. I caught him in the seventh and he wobbled. At first I was trying for one shot, then I remembered to start using the one-two. Then I landed a body shot, then a hook, and we got what we came here for, which was a knockout.”

Chinea (15-2-1, 6 KOs) was active, throwing an impressive 678 punches over seven-and-a-half rounds, par rapport à 414 for Mattice. But while he was aggressive and effective on the inside, his neglect of defense is what ultimately hurt him.

“I think I did well pressuring him and sticking to my game plane,” Chinea said. “I just got carried away and got caught with the right shot and, malheureusement, it ended the way it ended.

“I’m a little disappointed it ended the way it did, but that’s boxing and a lot of things can happen in the sport and that’s just the way it went.”

In the opening bout of the three-fight telecast, super lightweight prospect Montana Love kept his unblemished record intact with a majority decision over Sam Teah, marqué 78-74, 78-74, 76-76.

The southpaw Love (9-0, 4 KOs) pressed the action from the start, utilizing superior speed and polished footwork to dictate the pace. Cleveland’s Love, who took the fight on just four days’ notice, was seemingly talking trash during rounds, telling Teah what was coming next. But even with the advance warning, Teah was unable to get inside or land anything of consequence. Ouais (12-2-1, 5 KOs) seemed to come alive in the sixth but it was too little, too late for the Philadelphia fighter.

“I just kept boxing and pushing him back,” Love said. “I hurt three of my knuckles in my left hand in about the third round. I’m not sure if they’re fractured or not, but if I hadn’t hurt them I would have ended that fight early.

“Je me sentais fort. I just came from a great camp with Robert Easter, which I think helped in this fight tonight. Sparring with Robert and Adrien [Broner], I’ve learned a lot from those guys.

“I give my overall performance a B or a C+. I think I could have done a lot more.”

Teah made no excuses about facing a last-minute opponent.

“He was a crafty southpaw. I knew he was slick, but he was quicker than I expected,” Teah said. “I would ball up to try to come inside and he was sharp with his right hook. Fighting guys on short-notice is the way I expect it. That’s the sport. I was preparing for a southpaw and I got a southpaw. No excuses.”

RONALD ELLIS contre. JUNIOR YOUNAN – 10-Round Super Middleweight

 

Ellis returns to ShoBox in his first bout since defeating Christopher Brooker via a unanimous decision in Atlantic City last January. In his ShoBox debut, Ellis fought Jerry Odom to a majority draw in Atlantic City in February 2016.
 

Originally from Lynn, Massachusetts, the 28-year-old Ellis currently lives and trains in Los Angeles at the Iron Gym under trainer Jerry Rosenberg and his father Ronald Ellis Sr.
 

“It’s going to be fireworks from the jump,»Dit Ellis, who was scheduled to fight Taneal Goyco in November, but the fight was scrapped when Goyco weighed three pounds over the super middleweight limit. “Younan is a good little fighter, but we are trying to get him out of there. WELLINGTON ROMERO vs. SAM TEAH – Eight-Round Super Lightweight

 

Romero is originally from the Dominican Republic now fighting out of Newburgh, New York. A southpaw, he fights under the Roc Nation Sports promotion and represented the Dominican Republic in the 2012 London Olympics, where he lost to eventual Gold Medalist Vasyl Lomachenko.

 

An accomplished amateur with 268 combats, Romero earned a bronze medal at the 2010 Central American Games and made back-to-back appearances at the 2011 World Amateur Boxing Championships and the 2011 Pan American Games as a teenager.
 

The 26-year-old Romero fought twice in 2017, recording TKOs in both wins over Kevin Womack Jr. and Mike Fowler.
 

“This fight on SHOWTIME is a great opportunity for me to showcase my talent and I want to thank God, my team and everyone involved for this opportunity,”A dit Romero. “I’m going to deliver a world class performance for all the boxing fans out there to enjoy. This won’t be the first time Philadelphia’s Teah is facing an undefeated fighter on ShoBox. In Las Vegas in 2015, Teah scored a unanimous decision over previously undefeated O’Shaquie Foster. The 30-year-old’s only loss came against then-undefeated Lavisas Williams in 2014.
 

Né au Libéria, Teah did not start boxing until the age of 19. His last four fights have been close to home with three in his hometown of Philadelphia and the other two in Bristol, Pa., and Atlantic City, N.J.
 

“I know my opponent was an Olympian, and he has been in front of a lot of great fighters,” Teah said. “I am excited to face him and take the big challenge. I know I will be his toughest opponent. I am ready to see what he is made of.”
 

THOMAS MATTICE vs. ROLANDO CHINEA – Eight-Round Lightweight
 

A 27-year-old from Cleveland, Mattice turned pro in 2014 and had an amateur record of 72-18. He was a three-time Ohio State Golden Gloves champion, and bronze medal winner in the USA National Tournament in 2014.
 

In his last fight on Nov. 11, Mattice beat Orlando Rizo via seventh-round stoppage in Georgia. Mattice, who has recorded four straight KOs and eight overall in 10 combats professionnels, is a boxer-puncher who likes to attack the body.
 

“It’s a tough fight for sure,” Mattice said. “I checked him out. It’s going to be a rough fight, but I am prepared for a war. I am prepared for whatever he will bring. The 26-year-old Chinea returns to ShoBox after handing previously unbeaten Kenneth Sims Jr., the first loss of his professional career via majority decision on July 14. The win moved Chinea’s ShoBox record to 2-0. He had previously won an eight-round split decision victory over O’Shaquie Foster in 2016.
 

A Puerto Rican native now living in Lancaster, Pa., Chinea suffered his only defeat against the hands of Ismail Muwendo in 2015. He has won five straight since, including two unanimous decisions over previously undefeated Ladarius Miller and Mel Crossty, as well as the unbeaten Sims. His last four opponents had a combined record of 38-1-1.
 

“I know Thomas Mattice is another undefeated fighter with a terrific amateur career,” Chinea said. “I am being brought in as his opponent, to make him look good in his national TV debut. I respect Thomas for agreeing to fight me. I am sure that he will bring his best, and it will be another entertaining fight, Chinea style. I am going to be in the best shape of my career. I am going to be stronger, and I am going to hunt him down, rough him up, and beat him. I can’t wait to fight and win again on ShoBox.”
 

DEVIN HANEY contre. HARMONITO DELA TORRE – Eight-Round Lightweights

 

Haney just turned 19 years old last November and already sports a professional record of 18-0 avec 12 KO. Trained and managed by his father, William Haney, he has been active with nine fights in 2016 and seven in 2017. In his last fight on Nov. 4, he scored a fifth-round TKO against Hamza Sempewo in Atlanta.
 

Raised in Oakland, Calif., Haney was a seven-time national amateur champion and compiled an impressive record of 130-8. Haney is currently living and training in Las Vegas, where he sparred with Floyd Mayweather as the pound-for-pound champ prepared to face Conor McGregor, and Shawn Porter. Haney turned professional when he was 16 years old in Mexico.
 

“Fighting on SHOWTIME, specifically ShoBox, where many champions have been made, is something I’ve envisioned since I turned professional in 2015,” Haney said. “I’m in tough against Harmonito Dela Torre, a hungry fighter who is coming off his first pro loss. I know his back is up against the wall, so I’m expecting him to bring everything he’s got. But this is my time to shine on the big stage and I’m not going to let this opportunity pass me by. I’m the future of boxing and everyone will see my talent on February 2, especially Dela Torre.”
 

Dela Torre is a 23-year-old Philippines native who has been training with Osmiri Fernandez in Miami the past few months at the Sanman Boxing Gym.
 

Dela was scheduled to fight last on Aug. 22 in Las Vegas in a super featherweight bout against undefeated Saul Rodriguez, who inexplicably pulled out of the matchup a few days before the fight.
 

Plutôt, Dela Torre entered the ring in Las Vegas on Nov. 18 and suffered his first loss against 2012 Olympic silver medalist Tugstsogt Nyambayar in an eight-round unanimous decision, despite scoring a second-round knockdown. It was the first time in his first nine fights that Nyambayar was taken the distance.

Reigning NABO Junior Welterweight Champion Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (20-0-3, 14 KOs) will face Mexican knockout specialist Juan Pablo “Che Che” Lopez (29-3, 24 KOs) in a 10-round champion defense on the freeview undercard of Miguel Cotto vs. James Kirkland “The Return” on Samedi, Février 25 at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

 

It comes as no surprise the Dallas-native was on hand when Roc Nation Sports, Miguel Cotto Promotions and the Dallas Cowboys organization officially announced the event in December at the team’s newly minted World Corporate Headquarters.

A former NABO and WBC Continental Americas Champion, Kirkland bounced back from his lone defeat against Nobuhiro Ishida in 2011 with five consecutive wins, four coming by way of knockout. Kirkland has defeated Brian Vera, Alfredo “Perro” Angulo and Carlos “King” Molina and handed Glen “Jersey Boy” Tapia his first professional loss by way of a punishing sixth round technical knockout, prior to taking the stage for a 12-round super welterweight war with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on May 9, 2015 at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

Washington, DC (Mai 14, 2016) - 122 candidat à la livre Luis «Orlandito» Del Valle (22-2, 16 KO) de Bayamon, Porto Rico a marqué une nette, décision unanime en huit tours contre le gaucher local Thomas «KO» Snow (18-3, 12 KO) vendredi, Mai 13 au DC Armory à Washington, D.C.
Combattre sur Roc Nation Sports’ Boxe du trône sur BET, Del Valle a cherché à donner le ton en faisant pression sur Snow basé à DC lors du premier tour. Dans la seconde, l'ancien champion poids plume NABA a décroché un certain nombre de mains droites droites, dont un qui a envoyé Snow vers le bas. Sentant qu'un KO peut être imminent, Del Valle a essaimé de neige mais il a réussi à sortir de la ronde.
Le troisième a vu Del Valle atterrir un crochet gauche parfait qui a de nouveau laissé tomber Snow, qui s'est effectivement attaché après avoir goûté la toile. Del Valle a continué à appuyer sur l'action dans les quatrième et cinquième strophes, tandis que Snow commençait à bouger ses mains mais se tenait toujours fréquemment. Snow a trouvé des moments de succès dans le sixième et a réalisé son meilleur tour au septième, au cours de laquelle il s'est connecté avec un tir dur qui a déséquilibré l'attention de Del Valle. Toujours à la recherche d'un KO, Del Valle a poussé l'action à la huitième cependant, Snow l'a ligoté à plusieurs reprises et a fini sur ses pieds.
Alors que la plupart des fans et des anneaux avaient Del Valle remportant au moins six tours, les scores étaient étonnamment 76-74 sur tous les trois tableaux de bord.
"Thomas Snow était un combattant très ludique et je lui lève mon chapeau pour être un compétiteur coriace,”A déclaré Del Valle peu de temps après la victoire. «J'aurais aimé l'avoir fini, mais il m'attachait constamment. Je pensais que l'arbitre l'aurait averti ou pris un point, mais cela ne s'est pas produit. Ce combat a été une bonne expérience d’apprentissage et, comme JAY Z le dit, «c’est sur le prochain». »
Avec la neige hors de son chemin, Del Valle vise de plus grandes opportunités.
"Je veux mettre la main sur l'un des champions ou des meilleurs prétendants à 122 livres. Depuis que j'ai commencé la boxe, mon objectif était de devenir champion du monde. J'espère avoir la chance de me battre pour l'une des ceintures bientôt car je ne veux rien de plus que de ramener une ceinture de titre mondial à Porto Rico. "

Washington, DC (Mai 12, 2016)– Ce vendredi nuit à Washington, DC, Thomas neige rencontrera Luis Orlando Del Valle (21-2, 16 KO) dans le combat en co-métrage d'une émission télévisée nationale en direct sur BET.

Le spectacle est promu par Roc Nation Sports.

Neige de Washington, DC a un record de 18-2 avec 12 KO et c'est une grande opportunité de se battre sur une grande plate-forme.
“Le camp d'entraînement se est bien passé. C'était un camp parfait et maintenant il est temps de faire quelque chose, et je vais là-bas pour gagner.”
Demandé ce qu'il savait sur Del Valle, Snow savait bien autre chose que quelques informations de base.
“Del Valle est un combattant conventionnel de Porto Rico. Il a un dossier similaire, mais n'a pas combattu beaucoup de bons gars. J'ai vu son combat avec (ancien champion du monde) Vic Darchinyan. (Un combat que Del Valle a perdu par décision unanime en 2012).
C'est un combat que la plupart des experts en boxe considèrent comme un combat à la croisée des chemins, avec le gagnant sautant en lice, mais Snow ne ressent pas la pression du combat.

“Je pense qu'il a plus à perdre que moi. Je monte de deux classes de poids. Je préférerais me battre à 115 livres, mais les opportunités sont venues à des poids plus élevés. Cela étant dit, Je ne pense pas qu'il soit à mon niveau. Je suis donc confiant dans ce combat et la victoire sera une formidable percée.”
Malgré les combats dans sa ville natale, Snow ne pense pas que cela joue un rôle dans la victoire du combat.
“Il n'y a aucun avantage à cela. dans la boxe, il faut juste un coup de poing et cette foule je n'aide pas ça.”
“Je sais ce que j'ai fait au camp d'entraînement et je suis prêt. Je n'ai peur de personne. Dieu m'a béni avec des compétences et je vais faire le travail. Je sais juste qu'en gardant Dieu dans ta vie, tout ira bien pour vous.”
Dit le promoteur de Snow, Marshall Kauffman de King’s Promotions, “C'est une belle opportunité pour Thomas. Il a montré tout au long de sa carrière qu'il a du talent. Ses seules pertes ont été contre des gars invaincus, mais il a eu un camp formidable, et vendredi nuit, il montrera qu'il devrait être l'un des meilleurs prétendants dans la division des super poids coq”

Je suis parti de [se battre avec] Canelo et rentré à la maison pour s'entraîner avec Demetrius Hopkins, Austin Trout et Lamont Peterson. Je ne sais pas s'il y a un meilleur combat que ça. Voici ce que les combattants avaient à dire pendant l'entraînement:

 

DUSTY HERNANDEZ-HARRISON:

«Je pense que beaucoup de gens sous-estiment Mike Dallas Jr. Je pense qu'ils le comptent trop tôt. Souvent, lorsque les gens reviennent d'une dure perte, ils s'entraînent plus durement, ils le prennent plus au sérieux et effacent toutes les erreurs qu'ils ont commises dans les camps d'entraînement précédents, donc c'est ce que je m'attends à ce qu'il fasse. Heureusement Barry Hunter [L'entraîneur d'Hernandez-Harrison] le connaît bien en tant que combattant, donc je suis parti de ce qu'il dit.

«Je me suis bien entraînée en combat. Je suis rentré à la maison après avoir combattu Canelo Alvarez et je suis allé directement au combat avec Lamont Peterson, Austin Trout, Demetrius Hopkins et autres combattants sur la carte. Juste un très bon combat.

 

"Je suis ravi de me battre sur BET. C'est vraiment cool. Je pense qu’il est bon d’apporter la boxe à un nouveau public. Avec optimisme, Je me suis bien battu pour les divertir. Et nous avons Justine Skye avant notre combat. Elle a une base de fans complètement différente de la mienne et je pense que c'est un autre bon moyen d'ajouter un nouveau public à notre événement.

 

«J'ai retiré beaucoup de choses de l'entraînement avec Canelo lors de son camp d'entraînement. C'était bien d'avoir une perspective différente d'un camp d'entraînement. Habituellement, tout tourne autour de moi, tout est fait pour moi et tout le monde se soucie de moi, c'était donc bien de prendre du recul et de voir comment quelqu'un comme lui au plus haut niveau se prépare pour un combat pour le titre mondial. Heureusement, Je suis parti en sachant que j'ai tout fait correctement.

 

«Se battre dans ma ville natale de Washington, D.C. c'est mieux pour moi. J'ai l'impression d'avoir plus de raisons de me battre. J'ai plus à perdre, ce qui pour moi aide. Vous ne m'entendrez jamais dire "no mas" en D.C.

 

"À mon âge, ma préparation change à chaque combat. Je me souviens avoir combattu dans le Connecticut en avril puis à Miami en août, qui semble vraiment proche, mais Billy Briscoe [Entraîneur adjoint de Hernandez-Harrison] était là et a dit: «tu es devenu tellement plus fort.» C'est juste l'âge que je suis en ce moment. Je suis vraiment en train de mûrir et de gagner la force de cet homme. À chaque combat, je me sens beaucoup plus fort.

«Je me sens très bien avant ce combat… confiant et fort. Je suis juste prêt à sortir et à jouer. Il y a plus de pression sur lui que moi qui combat dans sa ville natale.

«Au cours de ma carrière, quand je jouais au football, J'ai utilisé la boxe comme une autre forme d'entraînement pour le cardio. Orlando Del Valle made his professional debut on April 11, 2008 at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey where he knocked out Rey Rivera in the third round. By October 2009, he had compiled a record of 7-0, including a third-round knockout victory over Christopher Rivera at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Sur Juin 6, 2011, at Roseland Ballroom in New York City, he notched an impressive ten-round unanimous decision victory over Dat Nguyen in a fight telecast on Showtime’s ShoBox. Snow, who supplements his boxing earnings by working as a floor technician at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, began boxing at the age of ten at Round One Gym in Capitol Heights, Maryland, compiling a stellar amateur record of 129-10, which included three Washington D.C. Metro Golden Gloves championships. En 2004, he took home the national PAL amateur tournament title in the 119-pound weight class. Cotto Abner is part of the famous Cotto boxing family of Puerto Rico. Legendary Miguel Cotto is a second cousin, while uncles Miguel Cotto Sr. and Evangelista Cotto were pro boxers themselves. Cotto is looking for his second straight win following a loss in a world-title elimination bout against current WBA Super Featherweight World Champion Javier Fortuna. Sur Mai 13 he faces the vastly experienced Juan Jose Beltran who has faced current World Champion Leo Santa Cruz and former World Champions Eric Morel and Rico Ramos.

 

Brooklyn’s unbeaten Junior Younan faces his stiffest test to date on Mai 13 quand il fait face Austin Marcum. Undefeated in eight fights as a professional, Zhilei was a highly-decorated amateur, winning a silver medal in the super-heavyweight division at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, as well as bronze medals at the 2007 world amateur championships and 2009 AIBA world championships. He faces an opponent to be determined on Mai 13.
