“I feel great right now. I’m strong and in really good spirits. I feel like I’m going to be peaking at the right time. I’m on weight and on track for fight night.

 

 

 

“I have to be a poised and relaxed Abner Mares on June 9. I can’t go in with the same exact mentality as last time and try to knock Leo’s head off. Mám moc, but I’m not a one-punch knockout artist.

“I was at the first fight and I thought that Abner looked for big single punches too much and fought too rough of a fight. He made it harder on himself. It was still a very close fight despite that.

“We’ve been getting sparring partners that are a little taller and throw a lot of punches and the results have been great. Super welterweight is one of the deepest and most ferociously contested divisions in boxing with unified champion Jarrett Hurd and Charlo on a collision course for supremacy in the weight class. Virtually all of the most significant fights in the division are taking place in 2018 na SHOWTIME, with the three consensus best fighters, and at least five of the consensus top-10, facing off in what has become an unofficial tournament.

 

 

 

 

Charlo (30-0, 15 KO) has blasted his way to the top of the division, having stopped four of his last opponents by knockout. The 27-year-old from Houston won the title with a knockout victory over John Jackson in 2016. Since then he has successfully defended it twice, including scoring a devastating first round knockout victory over top contender Erickson Lubin in his last fight in October and a Knockout of the Year contender against Charles Hatley in April. Charlo and his twin brother, Jermall, were the only twin brothers to hold world titles in the same weight class simultaneously before Jermall relinquished his 154-pound championship to campaign at 160 liber.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Trout is no journeyman. He’s a former world champion, someone who has a name and he comes to fight. The name means he’s worthy of another title challenge,” Said Charlo. “Trout is the man that has been chosen for me and I have to take care of him. I’m super excited to be fighting and defending my title again.

 

 

 

 

 

“The only thing I’m going to tell you about what I’m going to do against Trout is, I’m going to surprise you guys. I plan to show my skills and show why I’m the best at 154 liber. The most important thing is to make my mark and claim my territory.”

 

 

 

 

The 32-year-old Trout (31-4, 17 KO) is one of most accomplished boxers in the 154-pound division, having stepped into the ring against champions like Miguel Cotto, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Erislandy Lara, Jermall Charlo and Jarrett Hurd. Representing Las Cruces, Nové Mexiko, he won the super welterweight title with a unanimous decision victory over Rigoberto Alvarez in 2011. He successfully defended the title four times, including a victory over Cotto, before losing the championship to Alvarez in 2013 and a decision to Lara eight months later.

 

 

 

 

After winning four straight, Trout stepped in for a world championship against Jermall Charlo but lost a close unanimous decision in 2016, although he is the only person to go the distance with Jermall since 2015. Last October he took on Hurd for the title, but lost via 10th kolo TKO – the first time in his career that he’d ever been stopped. Trout is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Juan De Angel on Feb. 17.

Santa Cruz (33-1-1, 18 KO) and Mares (30-2-1, 15 KO) first met in August 2015 at STAPLES Center and went toe-to-toe for 12 fast-paced rounds, with Santa Cruz eventually earning the majority decision and a vacant featherweight title. The popular Mexican-American Santa Cruz fights out of Los Angeles and most recently stopped Chris Avalos in October 2017 after a pair of high stakes showdowns against Irish star and two-division world champion Carl Frampton. While Santa Cruz lost a close majority decision in their first matchup, he bounced back in January 2017 to defeat Frampton by majority decision and regain his 126-pound title. Argentinian WBA super welterweight interim champion Brian Carlos Castaño (14-0, 10 KO) travels to France to make his first world championship title defense against challenger and former EBU titleholder Cedric Vitu (46-2, 19 KO) live from La Seine Musicale, v Paříži, Francie.
“I look forward to the fight with the Frenchman Cedric Vitu. I want to put on a couple of great fights for the year coming up and the first should be with Cedric Vitu,” Castaño said.
Back in July, Castaño got his biggest win to date when he defeated Michel Soro in Evian, Francie. Castaño is arguably the most gifted Argentine boxer to come along in many years. Prior to turning pro in 2012 he was highly regarded as an amateur.
During his amateur career that yielded nearly 180 vyhrává, he beat 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Esquiva Falcao, U.S.. Olympian (and current IBF welterweight titleholder) Errol Spence Jr. and current middleweight standout Sergey Derevyanchenko.
Cedric Vitu held the EBU light middleweight title between 2015 a 2017, with three successful title defenses. Vitu first challenged for the EBU title in 2012, facing the undefeated Sergey Rabchenko in Manchester on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback bout against Vyacheslav Senchenko. Rabchenko, promoted by Hatton, prevailed on a split decision.
Června 2015, Vitu got another shot at the EBU title against Orlando Fiordigiglio in Brescia. He won the title beating Fiordigiglio by technical knockout in round 11. Back in France, Vitu retained his belt against Roberto Santos in December 2015 and Ruben Varon in March 2016. He was named European Boxer of the Year by the EBU on June 2016. Born and raised in Ughelli Delta State, Nigeria, Efe Ajagba began boxing in 2011 at the age of seventeen and quickly discovered his craft on this way to a 41-2 (30 KO) amatérský záznam. Born in the Philippines and living in California, Donaire burst onto the scene in 2007 after a stellar amateur career when he stopped previously unbeaten Vic Darchinyan in the fifth round to capture a flyweight world title. Donaire would defend the title with three more knockouts before he moved up to bantamweight and defeated unified champion Fernando Montiel in 2011 to becoming a two-division world champion.
Donaire’s next challenge came at super bantamweight as he made it 27 consecutive victories by knocking down and defeating Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. v 2012 to become a champion at 122-pounds. A banner year for Donaire continued with a title-unifying victory over Jeffrey Mathebula and knockouts over Jorge Arce and Toshiaki Nishioka. After the impressive run Donaire was recognized as the 2012 Fighter of the Year by the BWAA, ESPN and Ring Magazine.
A loss to Guillermo Rigondeaux ended a 30-fight win streak for Donaire, but he continued to add to his resume as he won a world title in a fourth weight class by winning a featherweight championship via technical decision over Simpiwe Vetyeka in 2014.
Another world title was added to Donaire’s ever-growing trophy case in 2015 when he defeated Cesar Juarez to capture a world title at super bantamweight. He defended the title successfully in the Philippines before losing a close decision to unbeaten Jessie Magdaleno last November.

An accomplished amateur representing Kaunas, Litva, Stanionis is looking to become the next Eastern European fighter to make a splash in the U.S. The 22-year-old had a 141-19 record as an amateur and earned four senior national championships before winning gold at the European Olympic Qualifier to earn his trip to the 2016 Games. A gold medalist at welterweight at the 2015 European Amateur Boxing Championships, Stanionis was impressive in his pro debut, scoring a first round TKO of Rasheed Lawal in April.
Born in Germany, where his former boxer father was stationed in the military, Powell IVdedicated himself to boxing for good when his family moved back to the U.S. v 2011. “The Olympics were a very good experience for me. I won a lot of tournaments to get there and that road has led me to this moment.

“I’ve been working with Misael for about three months after Abner brought him to me. With Mexico behind him and winning a bronze medal, that’s huge already. We have a game plan with this kid that we’re going to execute.
“Misael was only on the Mexican team for two years. He was the least experienced member of the team. He’s going to get a lot of experience while fighting as a pro.
“We’re going to keep him busy and definitely want him fighting in Mexico. He’s going to keep gaining more confidence each time he enters the ring.”
