Light Heavyweight Bout Featuring Yoel Romero Against Melvin Manhoef Added to BELLATOR’s Return to Paris on May 6

In addition to the main and co-main event, a lightweight tilt pitting the last man to defeat media darling Paddy Pimblett, Søren Bak (15-1) against England’s Saul Rogers (15-4) is also official. Bak has only tasted defeat once in his 16 professional fights and held both the featherweight and lightweight titles in Cage Warriors before joining the BELLATOR roster. Fighting out of Denmark, “The True Viking” is riding a seven-fight win streak into battle against the SBG Manchester product, Rogers. Known as “The Hangman,” Rogers also has amassed 15 victories on his resume including wins over Artem Lobov, Ryan Hall and Georgi Karakhanyan.

The preliminary card is guaranteed to feature a showcase of French talent and has begun to take shape with the return of Yves Landu (16-9), who takes on Liverpool’s Gavin Hughes (10-2) in a lightweight affair. “Bringing BELLATOR to France in 2020 was one of the highlights of my career, and I knew that it was the start of a long run of big events in Paris,” BELLATOR President Scott Coker said. “Here we are ready for our second trip to France and this time we are bringing a heavyweight world title rematch featuring arguably the most recognizable French mixed martial artist in our sports history. It’s personally important to me to help grow the sport in France and give these athletes a chance to perform on a large stage.”

A former two-division champion, Bader has defeated nine of his last 12 opponents at both heavyweight and light heavyweight. Fighting out of Chandler, Ariz., the former two-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler from Arizona State University opened his professional career by winning season eight of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Never one to shy away from an opponent, Bader has had nothing but high-profile bouts since signing with BELLATOR MMA in 2017, defeating Fedor Emelianenko, Hari Mo, Mat Mitrione, Linton Vassell, Lyoto Machida, and Phil Davis. In his initial 265-pound title defense against Kongo, Bader controlled the action before referee Mike Beltran stopped the contest due to an accidental poke to Kongo’s left eye at 3:52 sa opening round.

Already an MMA legend at 35-years-old, “Cyborg” will be looking to further her legacy as the greatest woman’s mixed martial artist of all-time when she meets Arlene Blencowe on Oct. 15. After winning the Bellator belt in her 12th career title fight, “Cyborg” made history by becoming a world champion in her fourth major promotion, previously holding belts in both the UFC and Strikeforce. With a professional record of 22-2, 1 NC, lakip 18 wins by way of finish, the Brazilian-born fighter holds victories over tough competition such as Budd, Holly Holm, Felicia Spencer and Gina Carano.

With wins in six of her last seven fights, including five knockouts, “Angerfist” has put herself in position to challenge for the women’s featherweight title. Coming off a unanimous decision victory over Leslie Smith, the former two-time boxing world champion will look to keep her momentum rolling and claim her first MMA title. A longtime MMA veteran, Paul Daley has competed professionally since 2003, amassing over 60 career fights. ANG ANGHEL - France has approved the practice of mixed martial arts and has placed the sport under the supervision of the French Boxing Federation (FFB). With these recent government approvals, Bellator is pleased to announce that it will become the first promotion to hold a major MMA event in France with a monumental show on Saturday, Oktubre 10, 2020 at Accor Arena in Paris. Following the governmental decree, the French Boxing Federation is responsible for the implementation of MMA in France. “If I made the choice to initiate a delegation procedure for MMA, it was for its recognition; it is to liberate, supervise and develop its practice,” indicates the Minister of Sports, Roxana Maracineanu. This is a turning point in the history of French sport, as MMA is a discipline that is enjoying growing success, proven by these events capable of bringing together thousands of people and attracting millions of spectators.

Holding an impressive MMA record of 30-10-2, 1 NC, France’s Cheick Kongo returns to action following a title fight against heavyweight champion Ryan Bader last September. The former kickboxer remains unbeaten since 2015 and will enter the Bellator cage on home soil for a rematch against a familiar opponent in heavyweight contender, Tim Johnson. With the most fights (15) and wins (12) in Bellator heavyweight history, as well as victories over Vitaly Minakov, Mirko Cro Cop, Antoni Hardonk and Matt Mitrione, the Parisian is planning for a successful homecoming on Oct. 10.

On the heels of a dominant TKO victory over veteran Matt Mitrione atBellator 243 sa Agosto, Tim Johnson is set to compete for the third time in 2020 seeking revenge in a rematch from 2018 against Cheick Kongo. Now training out of Las Vegas, Johnson has quickly earned his place near the top of the Bellator heavyweight division with his recent wins, including a viral knockout over top prospect Tyrell Fortune in February. Argentinian WBA super welterweight interim champion Brian Carlos Castaño (14-0, 10 KOs) travels to France to make his first world championship title defense against challenger and former EBU titleholder Cedric Vitu (46-2, 19 KOs) live from La Seine Musicale, sa Paris, France.
“I look forward to the fight with the Frenchman Cedric Vitu. I want to put on a couple of great fights for the year coming up and the first should be with Cedric Vitu,” Castaño said.
Back in July, Castaño got his biggest win to date when he defeated Michel Soro in Evian, France. Castaño is arguably the most gifted Argentine boxer to come along in many years. Prior to turning pro in 2012 he was highly regarded as an amateur.
During his amateur career that yielded nearly 180 daog, he beat 2012 Olympic Silver medalist Esquiva Falcao, U.S. Olympian (and current IBF welterweight titleholder) Errol Spence Jr. and current middleweight standout Sergey Derevyanchenko.
Cedric Vitu held the EBU light middleweight title between 2015 ug 2017, with three successful title defenses. Vitu first challenged for the EBU title in 2012, facing the undefeated Sergey Rabchenko in Manchester on the undercard of Ricky Hatton’s comeback bout against Vyacheslav Senchenko. Rabchenko, promoted by Hatton, prevailed on a split decision.
Sa Hunyo 2015, Vitu got another shot at the EBU title against Orlando Fiordigiglio in Brescia. He won the title beating Fiordigiglio by technical knockout in round 11. Back in France, Vitu retained his belt against Roberto Santos in December 2015 and Ruben Varon in March 2016. He was named European Boxer of the Year by the EBU on June 2016. Vitu notched another successful defense against Isaac Real on January 2017. Sa Mayo, he fought in an IBF title eliminator against Marcello Matano. Vitu defeated Matano with a round 10 KINSA, becoming the mandatory challenger to IBF champion, Jarrett Hurd. Following his win, Vitu vacated the EBU title.
The Super Welterweight championship fight will be supported in an explosive matchup between Souleymane Cissokho and Pavel Semjonon, and Ringstar Sports prospect, Salapi Powell, IV vs. Gadzhimurad Ibragimov in a Super Middleweight bout.
