HALL OF FAMER “THE GOLDEN BOY” OSCAR DE LA HOYATO ATTEND 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary Celebration set for June 6 – 9
CANASTOTA, NY – MARCH 18, 2024 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2024, is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya will attend the Banquet of Champions and other events planned for planned for the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6-9.
“From Olympic gold to world titles in six divisions, Oscar De La Hoya captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming ‘The Golden Boy’ back to Canastota for the Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary celebration.”

De La Hoya capped a 223-5 (153 Biaya) amateur career by capturing lightweight gold at the 1992 Olimpiade. He turned pro the same year and captured his first world title – the WBO super featherweight – in only his 12th pro bout and would go on to win 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Among the champions he defeated include Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker and Arturo Gatti.

One of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing history. De La Hoya retired in 2008 with a pro record of 39-6 (30 Biaya). Di 2002 he established promotional powerhouse Golden Boy Promotions. Di 2014 “The Golden Boy” was elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad, including the Class of 2024, returning Hall of Famers and special guests will participate in the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

Kelas 2024 to be honored includes boxers Ricky Hatton, Ivan Calderon, Diego Corrales (posthumous), Michael Moorer, Jane Couch, Ana Maria Torres, Luis Angel Firpo (posthumous), Theresa Kibby (posthumous), pelatih Kenny Adams, manajer Jackie Kallen, publicist Fred Sternburg, wartawan Wallace Matthews and broadcaster Nick Charles (posthumous).

“Zurdo” fighting for his legacy, 41-0 Gilberto Ramirez on mission to join elusive 50-0 club

LAS VEGAS (Mei 19, 2021) – Only five boxers have started their professional careers with a 50-fight win streak and the contemporary leader, 41-0 Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez is on a mission to join the exclusive club, continuing July 9th in Los Angeles againstSullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 Biaya). 

Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, was the first Mexican-born super middleweight World champion, and he is currently the No. 3 rated light heavyweight in the world, oleh Asosiasi Tinju Dunia (WBA) dan Organisasi Tinju Dunia (WBO).

    Ramirez is closing in on boxing history as he fights for his legacy. Five years after he retires, “Zurdo” should rightfully join the four Hall of Famers who are presently ahead of him on the 50-Club list.

“Zurdo” targets Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol

LAS VEGAS (Bulan Maret 31, 2021) – Former world super middleweight championGilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (41-0, 27 Biaya) is on the hunt and his targets are undefeated Russians, Artur Beterbiev danDmitry Bivol, masing-masing, the reigning WBC/IBF and WBA Super light heavyweight World champions.

The 29-year-old Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, is currently ranked No. 4 dan Tidak. 5, masing-masing, by the WBA and WBO.

Ramirez was unimpressed by Beterbiev’s recent fight and he wonders where Bivol has been the past 1 ½ tahun, because he hasn’t been in the ring.

Bivol hasn’t thrown a punch during a fight in 17 bulan, since winning a 12-round unanimous decision againstLenin Castillo.  Instead of returning against a “name” fighter in defense of his WBA Super title, Bivol will be returning May 1st in London against somebody namedCraig “Spider” Richards 16-1-1, 9 Biaya), the WBA No. 8-rated light heavyweight who has never fought outside the United Kingdom.

“I’ve always said Dmitry Bivol was the toughest challenge out there,” Ramirez added, “which is why I want to make this fight happen. I know he’s got a fight coming up and hopefully he stays undefeated so we can make the mega-fight this summer.”

LAS VEGAS (Bulan Maret 1, 2021) – Undefeated world light heavyweight contender and former world super middleweight champion, Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (41-0, 27 Biaya), recently signed an exclusive promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions, primarily because of the strong support he will receive fromOscar De Lay Hoya and his team.

“Ultimately,” the 29-year-old Ramirez explained, “Golden Boy understood the goals and agendas I set for myself and I felt the strong support from Oscar and his team. It’s a multi-fight deal with potential for something longer pending this first experience. From all the conversations my team and I have had with Golden Boy, I felt comfortable with them and the future opportunities that will arise from our relationship.

“Oscar is a great guy and it’s been nothing but a pleasure dealing with him and his team. As my relationship with Golden Boy continues to grow, I’m sure we (Oscar) will become closer. He’s a champion and one of the greatest to ever lace up the gloves. I look forward to working to him closely.”

Ramirez’ goal is to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion world, something he will have a better shot of accomplishing with Golden Boy in his corner.

This past December, Ramirez launched his own promotional company, Promosi Zurdo, which will remain active.

“Zurdo Promotions will continue and stay active,” Ramirez said. “Going forward, all my fights with Golden Boy will be in association with Zurdo Promotions. I will host fights in Mexico to be a bridge between Latin America and the United States. There’s tremendous talent in that region and I hope to use my platform to help and support the underserved fighters in Mexico.”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Putaran. (November 19, 2018) – The late Emanuel Steward, arguably the greatest boxing trainer of all-time, is a member of the Class of 2018 getting inducted into the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame.

Pada usia 12, Manny moved with his mother from West Virginia to Detroit, where his life soon turned to boxing. He also trained Julio Cesar Chavez, Miguel Cotto, Oscar de la Hoya, Naseem Hamed, Evander Holyfield, dan Mike McCallum. Manny also trained a young Detroit rapper, Eminem, how to box at Kronk Gym.

 

 

 

The last world champion Manny trained was Adonis “Manusia unggul” Stevenson, who remains the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) World light heavyweight champion since 2013.

 

 

 

“Emanuel would always say, KO menjual!” Stevenson fondly remembered. “He was also the first to tell me, ‘You will be a superstar and a world champion. Just make sure you don’t listen to people with bad intentions because you’ve got natural talent.’ He believed in me even if some people did not think I would ever become a world champion.”

 

 

 

“Emanuel Steward impacted the lives of so many who walked through the doors of Kronk Gym,” tersebut Chris Cugliari, Direktur Eksekutif Asosiasi Alumni Tinju AS. “While he’s most recognized for his achievement at the professional level, his impact was significant in the amateurs. Manny serves as a model coach for USA Boxing today, and his impact will be felt for a long time. No one else ever gave me that recognition. He was humble and not a blowhard, my kind of guy.”

 

 

 

Emanuel Steward left his mark on earth, not only as a multi-faceted personality in boxing, but he’s also remembered for his magnanimous charity work in Detroit, in which he helped youths in their pursuit of education.

(Bulan Oktober 19, 2017, 2017) – Dia dilantik ke dalam Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame (CBHOF) pada hari Sabtu malam, Bulan Oktober 28, sebagai bagian dari Kelas enam anggota 2017, akan membatasi karir tinju hakim pensiunan Clark Sammartino di 13TH tahunan CBHOF Gala Dinner Induksi di Ballroom Uncas di Mohegan Sun.
Penerima CBHOF baru lainnya adalah petinju perintis “Profesor” Charles Hadley, dokter cincin Dr. Tony Alessi, wasit / juri Dick Flaherty, penulis tinju Dan Parker dan kontributor petinju / tinju Hugh Devlin, Sr.
Lulusan Universitas Brown, Sammartino yang sekarang berusia 80 tahun telah menikmati dua karir lain sebagai ahli bedah mulut dan penasihat investasi di Blue Fin di Providence, selain perannya sebagai juri tinju internasional sejak itu 1985.
“Saya pertama kali terjun ke tinju karena Joey Angelo menikah dengan sepupu saya,” Sammartino menjelaskan. “Dia melawan di awal empat puluhan. Joey melawan Willie Pep dua kali dan Sandy Saddler. Itulah yang membuat saya memulai. Kami dulu memiliki yang hebat Hari Senin Perkelahian Malam di Auditorium Rhode Island dan saya ingat menonton perkelahian Rocky Marciano “Harimau” Ted Lowry di sana.”

Sammartino, yang dengan bangga mengatakan dia tidak pernah melewatkan satu hari pun untuk bekerja 40 tahun, telah memutuskan untuk pensiun, meskipun dia akan tetap menjadi penggemar tinju selama sisa hidupnya. “Saya mulai melambat pada usia saya, melakukan pertunjukan lokal dan mungkin tiga atau empat pertarungan gelar dunia setahun, kebanyakan WBO dan IBF,” Sammartino berkomentar. “Saya pernah menderita pneumonia yang berat di masa lalu 5-6 berbulan-bulan dan itu membuat kerja menjadi sulit.”
