HALL OF FAMER “THE GOLDEN BOY” OSCAR DE LA HOYATO ATTEND 2024 HALL OF FAME WEEKEND Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary Celebration set for June 6 – 9
CANASTOTA, NY – MARCH 18, 2024 – The International Boxing Hall of Fame and Museum, which is celebrating its 35th Anniversary in 2024, is pleased to announce that Hall of Famer “The Golden Boy” Oscar De La Hoya will attend the Banquet of Champions and other events planned for planned for the 2024 Hall of Fame Induction Weekend set for June 6-9.
“From Olympic gold to world titles in six divisions, Oscar De La Hoya captured the imagination of boxing fans around the world,” said Hall of Fame director Edward Brophy. “We are very much looking forward to welcoming ‘The Golden Boy’ back to Canastota for the Hall of Fame’s 35th Anniversary celebration.”

De La Hoya capped a 223-5 (153 KOs) amateur career by capturing lightweight gold at the 1992 Juegos Olímpicos. He turned pro the same year and captured his first world title – the WBO super featherweight – in only his 12th pro bout and would go on to win 10 world titles in six weight divisions.

Among the champions he defeated include Jorge Paez, John John Molina, Rafael Ruelas, Genaro Hernandez, Ike Quartey, Fernando Vargas, Ricardo Mayorga and Hall of Famers Hector Camacho, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell Whitaker and Arturo Gatti.

One of the biggest pay per view attractions in boxing history. De La Hoya retired in 2008 with a pro record of 39-6 (30 KOs). En 2002 he established promotional powerhouse Golden Boy Promotions. En 2014 “The Golden Boy” was elected into the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

An impressive list of over 35 boxing greats from the United States and abroad, including the Class of 2024, returning Hall of Famers and special guests will participate in the Hall of Fame Weekend celebration.

“Zurdo” fighting for his legacy, 41-0 Gilberto Ramirez on mission to join elusive 50-0 club

LAS VEGAS (Mayo 19, 2021) – Only five boxers have started their professional careers with a 50-fight win streak and the contemporary leader, 41-0 Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez is on a mission to join the exclusive club, continuing July 9º in Los Angeles againstSullivan Barrera (22-3, 14 KOs). 

Ramírez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, was the first Mexican-born super middleweight World champion, and he is currently the No. 3 rated light heavyweight in the world, por la Asociación Mundial de Boxeo (AMB) y Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB). 

Although he won’t turn 30 until June 19, Ramirez has been fighting professionally for nearly 12 año, and one of his goals is to become a World champion in two different weight classes. “Zurdo” targets Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol

LAS VEGAS (Marzo 31, 2021) – Former world super middleweight championGilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs) is on the hunt and his targets are undefeated Russians, Artur Beterbiev yDmitry Bivol, respectivamente, the reigning WBC/IBF and WBA Super light heavyweight World champions.

The 29-year-old Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, Actualmente ocupa el puesto n. 4 y n. 5, respectivamente, by the WBA and WBO.

Ramirez was unimpressed by Beterbiev’s recent fight and he wonders where Bivol has been the past 1 ½ años, because he hasn’t been in the ring.

Bivol hasn’t thrown a punch during a fight in 17 meses, since winning a 12-round unanimous decision againstLenin Castillo.  Instead of returning against a “name” fighter in defense of his WBA Super title, Bivol will be returning May 1st in London against somebody namedCraig “Spider” Richards 16-1-1, 9 KOs), the WBA No. 8-rated light heavyweight who has never fought outside the United Kingdom.

“I’ve always said Dmitry Bivol was the toughest challenge out there,Ramírez agregó, “which is why I want to make this fight happen. I know he’s got a fight coming up and hopefully he stays undefeated so we can make the mega-fight this summer.”

LAS VEGAS (Marzo 1, 2021) – Undefeated world light heavyweight contender and former world super middleweight champion, Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs), recently signed an exclusive promotional contract with Golden Boy Promotions, primarily because of the strong support he will receive fromOscar De Lay Hoya and his team.

“Ultimately,” the 29-year-old Ramirez explained, “Golden Boy understood the goals and agendas I set for myself and I felt the strong support from Oscar and his team. It’s a multi-fight deal with potential for something longer pending this first experience. From all the conversations my team and I have had with Golden Boy, I felt comfortable with them and the future opportunities that will arise from our relationship.

“Oscar is a great guy and it’s been nothing but a pleasure dealing with him and his team. As my relationship with Golden Boy continues to grow, I’m sure we (Oscar) will become closer. He’s a champion and one of the greatest to ever lace up the gloves. I look forward to working to him closely.”

Ramirez’ goal is to become the undisputed light heavyweight champion world, something he will have a better shot of accomplishing with Golden Boy in his corner.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Vuelta. (Noviembre 19, 2018) – El tardío Emanuel Steward, posiblemente el mejor entrenador de boxeo de todos los tiempos, es un miembro de la clase de 2018 siendo admitido en el Salón de Asociación Alumni USA boxeo de la fama.

Steward fue un boxeador, entrenador extraordinaria, y comentarista de HBO hasta su muerte prematura en 2012 a la edad de 68. Su carrera en el boxeo culminó con su inducción al Salón de la Fama Internacional de 1996.
