Coming off the heels of the sold out 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Clash which has amassed over 225,000 online views, Murphys Boxing is proud to announce the creation of the Kode Award Warrior se to celebrate the achievements of New England’s most legendary boxers.



The award’s first recipients will be 2019 Internasionale Boks Hall of Fame inductee,Tony DeMarco and one of Massachusetts’ most decorated amateur boxers, Mike D'Gloeilamp.


Both fighters will be presented with their awards next Vrydag, March 29th at the Murphys Boxing event at Memorial Hall in Melrose, Massachusetts.


Op 87 jaar oud, Tony DeMarco holds the distinction of being boxing’s oldest living world champion and has been a beloved figure in the Boston sports world for over half a century.


Known as ‘Nardo’, the Boston fighter of Italian descent, turned pro unbelievably just a few years after the end of World War II. In 'n 14 year career, DeMarco went 52-12-1 while fighting during boxing’s golden age. His legendary battles with Hall of Famers like Carmen Basilio en Kid Gavilin made DeMarco a star and he won the welterweight world title in 1955 teen Johnny Saxton at the original Boston Garden in a fight that was voted one of Boston’s Top 10 Sports Moments.


DeMarco, who still can be found ringside at Murphys Boxing events and whose statue resides in Boston’s North End where he still lives, will receive the long overdue honor of joining the International Boxing Hall of Fame as a 2019 inductee this June.


“Murphys Boxing has always been very welcoming to me and my family.”, explains DeMarco.


“They have a true respect for boxing’s history. It’s an honor to be given their first ever award just months before entering the International Boxing Hall of Fame. I am looking forward to the evening.”


Joining DeMarco will be Melrose’s own, Mike D'Gloeilamp, who is considered one of the most successful amateurs ever to come out of the state of Massachusetts.


D’Ampolo was a New England Golden Gloves Champion, 'n 3x New England AAU Champ, 'n 2x Eastern Regional Champion and participated in the 1984 Olimpiese proewebarely missing a spot on the legendary 1984 USA Olympic Team with his weight class ultimately being represented by none other than Evander Holyfield.


On advice from his father, D’Ampolo made the decision to not enter the professional ranks and went onto become a successful businessman with his company, M&L Transit Systems based out of his hometown of Melrose, Massachusetts.


“I’m humbled. Back when we were fighting, there wasn’t much recognition or credit given to amateurs.”, says D’Ampolo.


“I used to be in the paper back then but it’s been a long time and I’m just very grateful to Murphys Boxing for remembering and honoring me here in my hometown.”

Tyner and Chambliss Grudge Match Ready to Explode on October 26 in Detroit

‘Great Lakes King’ Ja’Rico O’Quinn to Face Kenya’s Nick Otieno This Friday in Warren, Michigan

2018 is shaping up to be an important year in the budding boxing career of undefeated Detroit-based bantamweight Ja’Rico “The Great Lakes King” O’Quinn.
“I’m looking to make my TV debut this year,” said O’Quinn, finishing up training for Vrydag se stryd. “Van daar, the sky is the limit. When I get on TV, I’m going to looks so good I’ll become an attraction that people want to see again and again.”
Vrydag, Februarie 23, on a show called “WAR IN WARREN,” at DeCarlo’s Banquet and Convention Center in Warren, Michigan, O’Quinn (7-0-1, 5 Uitklophoue) will kick off the year by facing Kenyan veteran Nick “Kanyankole” Otieno (31-12, 13 Uitklophoue) in a six-round showcase.
“Opleiding het goed gegaan,” he continued. “I’m putting the finishing touches on camp and making sure my weight is good. I know Otieno is a tough veteran who’s not coming to lay down. He’ll put up a good fight and I’m pretty sure he’s got some veteran tactics he’ll try to use in there. I’ll use my youth and skills to come out on top.”
A former number-one ranked national amateur champion, O’Quinn turned professional in 2015 and soon signed with the ever-growing promotional stable of Dmitriy Salita. Flashy and quick-fisted with good power, O’Quinn’s popularity with hometown fans seems to grow with every impressive performance.
“It’s a great feeling. I get a lot of love in Detroit. They chant my name. The crowd loves it. If you can make it out of Detroit, you can make it out of anywhere.”
O’Quinn says he won’t predict what will specifically happen against Otieno, only that he will continue to build his name.
“If it goes the distance, I see myself being dominant and showcasing my talents and skills for all six rounds. If it doesn’t go the distance, I’ll show them what I can do for a while and then get him out of there.”
