NEW ENGLAND FIGHTS TO HOLD WEIGH-INS THIS FRIDAY AT LEWISTON RAMADA

Lewiston, Maine (Février 3, 2016) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF), Numéro un la promotion de la lutte régionale de l'Amérique, tiendra son prochain événement, “NEF 21: The Immortals” cette Samedi, Février 6, 2016 au Colisée Androscoggin Bank de Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature both mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional boxing bouts with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the promotion announced that it would hold the event weigh-in this Vendredi, Février 5, 2016, à 2:00 pm EST at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center. The Ramada is located at 490 Rue Pleasant à Lewiston, Maine.

 

Weigh-ins are open to the public and free to attend. All of the fighters competing on Saturday night will be at the weigh-in, including MMA headliners Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (12-8) and Jon Lemke (5-3), as well as boxing main event participants Brandon “Le Cannon” Baie (10-1) and Tollison Lewis (2-0). Fans and press are encouraged to attend. For those unable to make it to the Ramada on Friday, weigh-ins will be streamed live on the NEF Youtube page at www.Youtube.com/nefmma.

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, the promotion announced the addition of an amateur light heavyweight championship bout to the card. Ryan Glover (2-1) will face Mike Williams (1-0) for the inaugural NEF amateur 205-pound title.

 

Avant de concourir dans le MMA, Ryan Glover was a standout dual sport athlete at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, Maine. A state champion wrestler, Glover made his biggest mark on the football field where he was named the “Football Player of the Year” by the Lewiston Sun Journal in 2010.

“The weight cut has not been fun, but has gone easier than expected,” stated Glover, when asked about his cut down to 205-pounds. “I feel a lot better as I approach 205 and I think I’ll like fighting at this weight. It’s going to be bittersweet to hold the belt at 205. I lost a close slugfest last June simply because I didn’t stick to our game plan. I dropped the ball that night and you can rest assured that’s not going to happen again. The dizzying debut was enough to earn the impressive young Williams a shot at NEF gold.

 

“This fight is just another step and he’s in the way,” stated Williams flatly when asked for comment.

Currently a member of Team Irish, Tripp will appear in the NEF MMA cage for the first time since May 2013 when he fought at “NEF VII.” He is credited with winning the first fight in the promotion’s history over Tollison Lewis at “NEF I.” After putting together a stellar amateur record of 9-1, and holding the northeast region’s top amateur welterweight ranking, Tripp made his successful professional debut last fall. Alex Henry has yet to taste defeat in the MMA cage. He has amassed a perfect record of 6-0 since beginning his amateur career in 2013. Henry will make his professional debut at “NEF 21.” He is a member of New York State’s Team Bombsquad, a camp that has produced past NEF MMA headliners like Darrius Heyliger (4-3) and former NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Champion and Titan Fighting Championship Featherweight Champion Des “Predator” vert (15-5). Henry has won all three of his most recent bouts via first-round stoppage.

Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “Le Cannon” Baie (10-1) will take on the undefeated Tollison Lewis (2-0) in a super welterweight contest scheduled for six rounds.

 

“This is a classic battle of size and strength against technique,” ladite NEF co-propriétaire et promoteur Nick DiSalvo. “In one corner you have a polished boxer with a solid amateur background in the form of Brandon Berry, and he will be fighting in a heavier weight class in this bout. You can’t script a better contrast in styles for a bout like this. Just about anything could happen. It’s anyone’s fight. It’s going to be wild in the Colisee when this one goes off.”

 

Berry is coming off what many consider to be the defining win of his still-young professional career over gritty Mexican veteran Roberto Valenzuela (73-70-2) last November at “NEF XX.” Despite suffering a bad cut above his eye early in the fight, Berry maintained his composure and looked sharp on his way to a unanimous decision victory in the first eight-round fight of his career. The West Forks, Maine native was a 2013 Northern New England Golden Gloves champion as an amateur. The fight with Lewis is expected to be the last Berry will compete in above his usual 140-pound junior welterweight division.

 

“It’s great to be getting back in action inside the ring so soon, especially after suffering such a nasty cut over my eye from my last fight in November,” said Berry. “Thank you NEF for putting yet another very tough opponent in front of me. Tollison is a class act in and out of the ring, and I think our styles will make a crowd pleasing bout. I remember being undefeated still and I know how important keeping the ‘0’ on the record is. Tollison is a big, strong athlete and I’m sure he will be more than prepared. Both him and I understand competition, and will most likely be friends after this event. Tollison Lewis’s foray into the boxing world was unplanned. Lewis is a member of Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CMBJJ) in Lewiston where he trains under boxing coach Scott Frost.

FLYWEIGHT SCRAP PROMISES EXCITEMENT AT NEF 21

MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT ADDED TO NEF 21 Carte de combat

Plus tôt aujourd'hui,, NEF announced the addition of a professional middleweight bout to the “NEF 21” carte de combat. Michael “La Moustache” Hansen (3-2) a signé pour répondre Zach “The Torch” Elkins (0-1) à un poids de combat de 185 livres-.

 

Hansen is the head coach and founding member of Berserkers MMA based out of Rumford, Maine. He won a state championship as a heavyweight wrestler for Mountain Valley High School (MVHS) en 2004. Hansen began his MMA career shortly after his high school graduation, but put that career on hold to serve in United States Army as a combat engineer. Au début 2015, Hansen returned to the cage as a member of the NEF MMA roster. Zach Elkins is no stranger to the NEF fans. A member of Team Riot in Orange Park, Floride, Elkins appeared previously for the fight promotion headlining the amateur portion of the “NEF XIII” fight card in the spring of 2014. That evening, Elkins made short work of the northeast’s then-top ranked amateur middleweight Buck Pineau (1-2), scoring a first-round TKO. Elkins was ranked nationally as an amateur, and he held the ISCF Florida State Middleweight Championship for over a year. He lost his professional debut in the fall of 2014, and now Elkins is looking to pick up the first win of his pro career.

 

“I want to thank Matt and Nick (Peterson and DiSalvo, NEF owners) both for having me back on their show in February,” said Elkins when reached for comment. “I will be ready to put on another exciting fight for the fans in Maine and bringing home another ‘W’ for my team in Florida, Riot MMA.”

Boyington and Lemke have stood atop the NEF lightweight division together for several years now, their careers paralleling one another. Le combat sera une revanche de “NEF XX” le mois dernier à Lewiston. La lutte précédente a pris fin avec une soumission au premier round victoire pour Lamonte. Arbitre vétéran John English a arrêté le combat quand il semblait que Lamonte avait une clé de bras verrouillé en profondeur sur Boyington. Lewiston, Maine (Novembre 22, 2015) - Combats Nouvelle-Angleterre (NEF), Numéro un la promotion de la lutte régionale de l'Amérique, a tenu sa dernière événement, “NEF XX: A History of Violence” Samedi nuit au Colisée Androscoggin Bank de Lewiston, Maine. Certains 2,500 emballé le Colisée pour les historiques tout premiers hybrides mixtes arts martiaux (MMA) et une carte de boxe professionnelle dans le Maine.

 

Dans l'événement principal de la soirée de boxe, Brandon “Le Cannon” Baie (10-1) est allé huit tours pour la première fois de sa carrière, vaincre le vétéran mexicain graveleuse Roberto Valenzuela (72-70-1) par décision unanime.
