HORNSTRA ON FIGHT WITH CUSHING: “BRING UMBRELLAS, BECAUSE I’M SENDING TEETH INTO THE CROWD”

PER IL RILASCIO IMMEDIATO: Portland, Maine (Gennaio 17, 2020) - Combattimenti New England (NEF) will hold its next mixed-martial-arts (MMA) evento, “NEF 42: Symphony of Destruction,” il Sabato, Febbraio 8, 2020, at Merrill Auditorium in Portland. Earlier today, NEF announced the addition of a professional catchweight bout to the card.Keegan "La Flu" Korf(4-11) assumeràRyan “The Roosta” Cushing(0-0) con un peso di lotta 160 libbre.

Keegan Hornstra is a longtime veteran of the New England MMA fight scene, having made his amateur debut a decade ago. He returned to the cage last April after a three-year absence and defeated Zenon Herrera (1-8) by first-round submission at “NEF 38.” Hornstra had a quick turnaround for his next fight, taking on Dom Jones (2-3) just a few weeks later at “NEF 39.” Unfortunately for Hornstra, he was on the losing end of that contest. He will look to get back in the win column on February 8. Hornstra currently represents Evolution Athletix based in Saco, Maine.

“He won’t show,” predicted Hornstra of his opponent. “If he does, bring umbrellas, because I’m sending teeth into the crowd.”

Ryan Cushing will make his professional debut at “NEF 42.” He is an independent fighter based out of Massachusetts. Cushing was a perfect 2-0 as an amateur with both victories coming by way of first-round submission.

“Keegan is a fantastic person and a veteran that I really respect,” said Cushing.  “He also has really turned himself around lately and looks better than ever, and he is someone I always got along with when I crossed paths and spoke with him, so it’s going to be pretty cool sharing the cage with him. I’m excited to test myself against him in the cage and in the ‘best facial hair’ battle at weigh-ins.”

LA SECONDA DONNA È STATA AGGIUNTA AL NEF 39 FIGHT CARD

PER IL RILASCIO IMMEDIATO: Lewiston, Maine (Maggio 29, 2019) - Combattimenti New England (NEF) sabato torna all'Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Giugno 22 con il suo prossimo evento di arti marziali miste, “NEF 39: TUTTI AMERICANI.” Proprio oggi, la promozione del combattimento ha annunciato l'aggiunta di un bantamweight di donne amatoriali alla carta. Megan Rosado è prevista per affrontare Sarai Knapp con un peso lotta di 135-libbre.

Megan Rosado è attualmente pari 1-1 da quando ha debuttato nella gabbia NEF alla fine dell'anno scorso. Ha assunto Glory Watson a “NEF 36” a settembre e ha fatto la distanza in avanti e indietro, gara elettrizzante. Watson è stato in grado di tirare fuori una decisione divisa sui giudici’ scorecard per prendere la vittoria. Rosado è tornato il mese scorso alle “NEF 38” a Portland, Maine per affrontare Amanda Bennett (0-2).  Di nuovo, la lotta è andata ai giudici’ scorecard, ma questa volta è stato Rosado a uscire dalla gabbia con la vittoria. Rappresenta Evolution Athletix di Nate Libby con sede a Saco, Maine.

"Sono davvero entusiasta di tornare nella gabbia per il mio terzo combattimento amatoriale,” detto Rosado. “È sicuro di dire che sono dipendente da tutta l'esperienza di combattimento! Potrei non avere un disco perfettamente pulito e imbattuto, ma avere un assaggio di una perdita e una vittoria è ciò che ti rende più pericoloso, secondo me. Non so nulla del mio avversario, ma questo non inizia nemmeno a spaventarmi. Lo porterò, e vincerò a giugno 22. Non perderlo!"

Sarai Knapp farà il suo debutto amatoriale in MMA a “NEF 39” il 22 giugno. Farà il viaggio di 1.000 miglia dal suo stato d'origine dell'Indiana per competere contro Rosado. Knapp rappresenta Lee Brothers MMA con sede a Fort Wayne.

“L'allenamento di arti marziali miste ha cambiato la mia vita,” osservò Knapp. “Sono solo entusiasta di sfidare me stesso contro un avversario duro come Megan. Il mio allenatore mi dice che tutti quelli della palestra di Nate Libby sono forti, quindi ci stiamo preparando per una lotta.”

L'incontro tra Rosado e Knapp è la seconda lotta femminile annunciata per il “NEF 39” carta. Anche sulla carta amatoriale quella notte, Glory Watson (4-0) incontreremo Caree Hill (4-1) per il campionato dei pesi liberi delle donne libere.

A NEW MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPION WILL BE CROWNED AT NEF 39

PER IL RILASCIO IMMEDIATO: Lewiston, Maine (Maggio 22, 2019) - Combattimenti New England (NEF) sabato torna all'Androscoggin Bank Colisee, Giugno 22 con il suo prossimo evento di arti marziali miste, “NEF 39: TUTTI AMERICANI.” Proprio oggi, the fight promotion announced the addition of an amateur title fight to the card. Carlton Charles (3-2) dovrà affrontare Jordan Norman (2-1) for the vacant amateur middleweight belt.

Prior to entering the MMA ranks, Carlton Charles made his mark on the football field. He played for Windham High School in Windham, Maine and later led the team to a Class A title as an assistant coach. Charles went on to play fullback for the University of Maine Black Bears. He made his NEF debut in the summer of 2017 with a 23-second knockout win. He would top that performance with a 12-second knockout victory in February 2018. After an unsuccessful attempt at capturing the amateur welterweight title against Duncan Smith (5-3) lo scorso giugno, Charles returned to the cage one month ago in New Hampshire and picked up yet another first-round knockout win.

“Come sempre, I feel blessed and very grateful for the opportunity to fight for the belt,” said Charles.  “I know Jordan has come a long way in this sport and is always training hard and improving. I will be looking to not be caught by one of those big meat hooks that he has for hands. He’s a big powerful guy, and I’m going to be training hard as always to be able to go out and perform to my best ability. I know my coaches will have me ready for this one! have no doubt in my mind the fans will be in for a real treat with this one.”

Jordan Norman has indeed come a long way since his NEF debut last June. He lost that evening via first-round knockout, but Norman would come firing back in his next two bouts. He won a split decision over John Assam (0-1) lo scorso autunno, and just last month finished Greg Ishihara (0-1) in the second round. Norman represents the Bad Little Falls Dojo.

“I’m honored for the opportunity to get into the NEF cage and compete for the amateur title against someone like Carlton,” exclaimed Norman. “He and I will put on one hell of a show for the Lewiston crowd. Both of us come to fight and it won’t be any different on June 22nd. I have nothing but respect for him and his team. I’m excited for the task at hand and scrapping it out for the middleweight title.”

The middleweight title fight between Charles and Norman is the fourth already announced for the “NEF 39” card. Josh “Hook On” Harvey (6-0-1) is scheduled to defend the professional featherweight title against Jordan Downey (5-4), while Nate Boucher (4-3) will square off with Robert Presley (5-4) for the vacant amateur men’s flyweight belt, and undefeated Glory Watson (4-0) takes on Caree Hill (4-1) to crown NEF’s first amateur women’s flyweight champion. Also announced for the card, Jesse “The Viking” Erickson (9-7) faces Lewis Corapi (8-5) in a professional lightweight bout.
