Training Camp Notes

(quotes from Kendo Castaneda)

Training Camp: “Everything here has been good. I’m ready to rock and get back in the ring. I’ll have no trouble making weight for this fight. My sparring partners are local guys, some pros, and other amateurs. I like helping up-and-coming fighters who want to turn pro. They have natural speed at 18, 19 ane fin vye granmoun, but their strength hasn’t fully developed, yet. They learn and I get good work. My No. 1 sparring partner, Limon, has had more than 100 amateur fights. His style is similar to Alamo’s. He’s tall and lengthy, but not as powerful as Alamo. He throws great jabs and boxes well, which will help me when I fight Alamo.

Yomar Alamo:  “He fights off his back foot a lot. He likes to box and is a good counter-puncher.

He’s undefeated but who knows how he wants to fight?  I like razzle-dazzle and I’ll quickly learn what I’m in for.”

Fighting in Alamo’s backyard: “I’m not concerned about that at all. My first fight with RJJ Boxing was in Las Vegas against a local fighterChuy Gutierrez, and I won that fight. I don’t mind fighting in my opponent’s backyard and I’m getting used to it. My last fight was in Reno against a California fighter, who lived a lot closer to Reno than I do in San Antonio. And I fought a local fighter in New Hampshire, when I had a bare-knuckle fight.”

How do you envision this fight going:  “Alamo will go into the fight thinking it’s going to be a boxing match, almost like an exhibition starting the fight. But I’m going to go in strong, like a street fight, banging him around. I’ll catch him with some surprises, throwing hard blows. In the third or fourth round, I’ll start boxing more. Then it’s going to be too much for him, and I’ll take him out in the eighth or ninth round.”

Bout importance: “I think I’ll possibly get a world championship eliminator fight with an impressive victory. I’m a rare, old-fashioned boxer.”

Prediksyon:  “The referee will be announcing, ‘And the new NABO champion…..’”

Nou devlope yo soti nan pwospè yo konkiran,"Te di Gordon Hall, Egzekitif Pwodiktè nan ShoBox: New Generation a ak Senior Vis Prezidan an Pwodiksyon, Chotim Espò. "Nou te wè Antoine grandi. Li te kòmanse kòm yon pwospè pwomèt, epi nou matche l 'vrèman difisil ak chak ak chak fwa li te fè mete kanpe nan travay la. Aswè a, li gradye nan ShoBox ak yon pèfòmans espektakilè; pa gen okenn dout li se kounye a yon contender. "

"Nou te resevwa sa Antoine Douglas nesesè: Kalite a nan pèfòmans nèt dominan ki fè ou vle wè l 'goumen kont middleweights yo pi byen. Aswè a te gradyasyon Antoine a soti nan ShoBox. Koulye a, li pral deplase jiska pi gwo ak pi bon bagay,” di ShoBoxekspè analis Steve Farhood apre sa:

Douglas te ale 10 jij pou yon dezyèm fwa nan ak upped tras genyen l 'nan senk depi boksè yon trase nan mwa Jiyè 2014.

Mwen espere yo dwe pi di Sherrington, plis prepare. Mwen panse ke m 'te koutpwen kle a. Li mete l 'moute pou tout vaksen yo gwo mwen te ateri ak men dwat mwen y'ap kite zen.

Men, WBA a Pa gen. 12 contender te gen okenn matche ak pou Douglas.

Lè sa a, li mete men sou mwen frèt. Mwen te vin isit la yo rive jwenn yon rèv dire tout lavi m 'yo men li pa te vle di yo dwe. Mwen te resevwa akeyi nan lig yo gwo nan yon gwo prese ak nan fason ki pi mal la. Tout kredi ale nan Douglas pou sa. ''

Farhood te enpresyone ak Shelestyuk, yon ansyen exceptionnelles amatè. "[Terrace] Shelestyuk te sanble ak avyon de gè a pi ki gen matirite sou kat la,'' Farhood di. "Li gen yon bèl bagay jeneyalojik amatè, li te yon Olympic medaye Bwonz. Li t'ap goumen yon avyon de gè ki te fè l 'goumen' voye jete yon anpil nan pwenson — li mwayenn 85 pwenson yon wonn. Li domine batay la soti nan premye tou an sou yo ak sou li te sanble ak avyon de gè a mond-klas ke li te devlope yo dwe.”

Shelestyuk itilize avantaj wotè 3 ½-pous l 'yo domine jwèt la, men surklase Kozaev. M kontan anpil. Mwen te genyen premye pro tit mwen, te ale 10 jij la pou premye fwa te genyen ak tout jij yo,'' Te di Shelestyuk.

"Nèg la te yon advèsè super difisil. Mwen te panse mwen te ale nan frape l 'soti nan yon kèk nan jij yo, men li te pran tout pwenson difisil mwen. Li te yon vanyan sòlda ak te gen yon anpil plis eksperyans pase m '.' '

Kozaev, fè premye kòmansman li nan 18 mwa, te kòmanse vit, men te resevwa outhustled ak outworked soti nan wonn, dezyèm lan sou. "Li se yon avyon de gè byen ak sa ki mwen te bay pi byen m ', men yo pa goumen pou sa yo yon bon bout tan te yon gwo faktè,'' Li te di.

Smith bat yon koupe anbarasan sou je a bò gòch nan yon headbutt envolontè nan sizyèm a, men tounen vin jwenn nòt yon knockdown nan setyèm lan.

"Men, aswè a, li te tankou yon wèltèr goumen yon wèltèr jinyò. Mwen te peze nan nan 141 epi li te nan 147. Men, ale uit jij la pou premye fwa te definitivman yon bon bagay. Mwen jis santi tankou mwen ta dwe rive nan bout pi fò. Move tan an pa t 'yon pwoblèm.' '

Sis premye jij yo mwen coasted. De dènye jij yo fatig mete nan ak mwen te kòmanse santi move tan an, men mwen santi gwo kounye a. ''

Li lè pou mwen pou m regwoupe epi pou yo jwenn li ansanm pou tan kap vini an. ''

Tout men Douglas te fè yo ShoBox debu.
