Bute was one of the world’s top pound-for-pound fighters for nearly five years (Oktoober. 19, 2007-Mai 26, 2012) as the International Boxing Federation (IBF) 168-nael divisjoni meistriks. In addition to being well compensated, Alvarez had several other reasons to accept this immense challenge against Bute.
“It is a very good opportunity for me, fighting a good opponent who is very popular, especially in Canada,” the odds favorite Alvarez said. “He’s is a southpaw, like Stevenson, plus it’s also a good opportunity for me to rise my popularity. And with all due respect to Bute, someone unable to beat Bute doesn’t deserve a shot at Stevenson.
“Our fight will probably be a boxing chess match, but because of the local angle, at some point our fight will turn emotional. I will retire Lucian Bute for good February 24th!”

Romania-born Bute (32-3-1, 25 Kos), who is a Canadian citizen living in Laval (Kanada), held the IBF 168-pound division title for nearly five years (Oktoober. 19, 2007-Mai 26, 2012), when the wildly popular southpaw ranked among the top pound-for-pound fighters in the world.
Bute has a sterling 10-2-1 (8 Kos) record in world title fights and he has defeated six world champions: Dingaan Thobela, Saki Taurus, Alejandro Berrio, William Joppy, Brian Magee ja Glen Johnson.
The WBC No. 7-ranked Bute will celebrate his 37th birthday four days after his fight with Alvarez. All three of his pro career losses have been to world champions: Jean Pascal, Carl Froch ja James DeGale.

MONTRÉAL (November 1, 2016) – The “GYM 2016-2017 BOXING SERIES” at the Montreal Casino Cabaret, a PRESENTATION OF MISE-O-JEU, IN COLLABORATION WITH VIDEOTRON, will host its second card of the 2016 season and 50th since 2004 ON Laupäev, Detsember 10. World Boxing Nõukogu (WBC) Silver champion and WBC #1 valguse raskekaalu pretendent, Eleider “Torm” Alvarez (20-0, 10 Kos), will face tough-as-nail Polish fighter Norbert “Noras” Dabrowski (19-5-1, 7 Kos).

A real challenge for Dicaire
The charismatic Marie-Eve Dicaire (5-0, 0 Kos), of St-Eustache, Kanada, will fight in the co-main event of the evening. She will face the biggest challenge of his career against former North American Boxing Federation (NABF) race meister, Mehhiko Paty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-2, 5 Kos).

Lafrenière (12-5-2, 7 Kos), the charismatic International Boxing Federation (IBF) International middleweight champion, will make his debut at the Cabaret du Casino. Hüüdnimega, “The People champ,” Lafrenière is known for his aggressive and uncompromising boxing style.
He first became Canadian middleweight champion June 28, 2014, in Lachine, by winning a unanimous decision over Paul Bzdel (5-4-1) from Saskatchewan. A protégé of world light heavyweight contender and 2-time Russian Olympian, Artur Beterbiev, pro-debuting super bantamweight Vislan Dalkhaev (7-0-0, 2 Kos) will try to continue his demolition work in the pro ranks against Rodrigo Adrian Campos (10-4-0, 5 Kos), Mehhiko, in a scheduled 8-round fight.
During his illustrious amateur career, Dalkhaev’s major accomplishment was defeating 2-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez, Kuuba, at a 2010 tournament in Kazakhstan. Ramirez recently beat American star Shakur Stevenson championship final of the bantamweight (56 kg) division at the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil this past summer. Based on his rich amateur pedigree, Dalkhaev has a very promising pro boxing career.

Patrice Volny (2-0, 1 Kos), Montreali, will fight for the third time at the Cabaret of the Casino de Montréal. Quebec City (Juuli 30, 2016) – Light raskekaalu maailmameister Adonis “Supermees” Stevenson (28-1, 23 Kos) delivered a highlight reel knockout victory over Thomas “Top Dogg” Williams Jr. (20-2, 14 Kos) in the fourth-round of an exciting main event showdown on Premier Boxing Champions edasi Ora Reede night from Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Kanada.

Williams staggered the world champion several times, using an effective counter right hand while getting the best of many exchanges.
Both men were hurt in an exciting third round that saw momentum swing in each man’s favor before the bell rang to end the round. A cut opened up over the left eye of Williams in the end of the round that was tended to in his corner. Williams hit the canvas as a result of a low blow early in the fourth, but regained his footing shortly after.
The notorious power puncher Stevenson eventually landed the deciding blow of the night when he caught Williams’ chin hanging in the pocket and delivered a straight left hand that put the challenger to the floor. Washington, DC area-native was unable to recover, prompting referee Michael Griffin to stop the bout 2:54 into the fourth round.
Additional televised action saw rising middleweight contendersImmanuel Aleem (16-0-1, 9 Kos) ja Demond Nicholson (17-1-1, 16 Kos) fight to a majority draw in their eight-round bout.
Neither fighter was able to control of the fight with Nicholson attempting to use his length and jab while Aleem tried to cut the distance and attack with short punches. Nicholson appeared to have the more effective attack in the early rounds, while Aleem began to have more success as the fight shifted to toe-to-toe action in the second half of the fight.
Kohtunikud’ scores reflected the close nature of the fight as one judge had it 77-74 for Aleem while the other two judges had it a 76-76 viik.
The televised opener saw Eleider “Torm” Alvarez (20-0, 10 Kos) keep his perfect record intact with a unanimous decision victory over New Zealand’s Robert Berridge (27-5, 21 Kos) in a 10-round light heavyweight affair.
“I am happy with the win, but I would have liked a knockout! He was tough, but he did not hurt me at all and I thought that I hurt him. I am ready for my next challenge, which will hopefully be a world title fight.”
The top-rated contender for Stevenson’s title, Alvarez established his jab early on while attacking the body of Berridge with right hooks. Alvarez continued to control the fight from a distance as Berridge was slow to begin increasing his output before he started putting the pressure on in round five.
The southpaw Berridge was able to land occasionally on Alvarez with a looping left hand, but never put the undefeated fighter in danger. Alvarez began to have more success varying up his attack with right uppercuts and hooks that eventually left Berridge’s right eye swollen and bruised.
Alvarez took home the decision by scores of 99-90 ja 98-92 kaks korda.
