GLOVER VACATES; A NEW LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION TO BE CROWNED AT NEF 25

It was a bitterly cold night in Lewiston last February when Ryan Glover (3-1) won the New England Fights (NEF) losakanizika asilikali-zaluso (MMA) amateur light-heavyweight title. The months to come would see Glover accept a new job that would take him up and down the East Coast. With little time to train to defend the title, and in the interest of doing right by the division, Glover recently made the difficult decision to relinquish the championship.

Irwin was a standout wrestler at Brewer High School in Brewer, Maine at 195-pounds where he was a Class-A state champion. His love for the sport is so strong that when Irwin attended Eastern Maine Community College (EMCC) and learned the school did not have a wrestling program, he created one himself. As a college freshman in 2014 Irwin went to Nationals and achieved All-American status. He currently trains out of Young’s MMA in Bangor, Maine.

 

“I’ve thought a lot about this fight and I’ve come to the conclusion that it doesn’t matter what I say,” said Irwin, “it matters what I do, ndipo anabwera September 10thyou’re gonna see some serious doing.”

 

2015 was a great start to the MMA career of Nick Shea. In February of that year, he won his debut fight over the much more experienced Jacob Cameron (1-5) kudzera woyamba chonse luso knockout. Kevin Ross Earns Unanimous Decision Victory Over Justin Houghton

In a featherweight kickboxing bout, Kevin Ross (32-9) took care of business with a unanimous decision victory (29-27, 29-27, 30-26) zoposa Justin Houghton (7-3). Nicknamed “The Soul Assassin,” Ross was able to land 86% of his shots over the course of the fight, thoroughly dominating Houghton and tacking on another victory to an already historic 11-year career. Ross now remains undefeated under the Bellator Kickboxing banner, building upon his victory at “Bellator Kickboxing: Torino.”

MacFarlane Displays Phenomenal Ground Game En Route to Submission win Over Ruth

In the second MMA battle of the evening, Ilima-Lei MacFarlane (4-0) was able to continue her rapid ascension to the top of the women’s flyweight division and remain undefeated with an impressive rear-naked choke submission over Rebecca Ruth (6-2). MacFarlane’s remarkable ground game and jiu-jitsu skill set was on full display tonight, forcing the veteran Ruth to tap out three minutes into the second round. For Ruth, the loss is just the second of her career and first since 2014. The win is “The Ilimanator’s” third since joining the promotion and is her first submission victory of the rear-naked choke variety.

Gloria Peritore Takes Split Decision Victory From Denise Kielholtz

 

In the opening kickboxing bout of "Bellator: Dynamite 2,” Gloria Peritore (11-1-1) was able to edge out Denise Kielholtz (44-3), taking home a split decision victory. It was an even battle from start to finish, but in the end it was the judges’ scorecards that read 29-28, 28-29, 29-28 in favor of the Italian. The loss is just the third of Kielholtz’s career and left the Dutch powerhouse completely speechless in the center of the ring. For the 27-year-old Peritore, the win gives her 11 since making her professional debut only two years ago.

Matt Mitrione Ignites Full House in Opening Bout of “Bellator: Dynamite 2”

Mat Mitrione (10-5) was able to absorb an early blow from Carl Seumanutafa (10-7) basi 20 seconds into round one and answered with a flash of brilliance 3:22 into the opening frame. The come-from-behind knockout victory is the ninth of that variety and tenth of Mitrione’s career. “Meathead” proved his ability to outlast yet another opponent in what will surely go down as one of the greatest Bellator MMA debuts of all time. Tsopano, Mitrione sets his sights on returning to the cage as quickly as possible, with the goal of winning Bellator gold on his mind.

Fishgold and Boussif set for Lightweight title challenge

Chris Fishgold (14-1-1) will clash with Adam Boussif (9-3) to contest the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship’s vacant lightweight title at CWFC 77 next month.

The tussle will take place at the Camden Centre in London on July 8; the main card will stream on UFC Fight Pass and will also feature the headline bout for the middleweight title between Jack Marshman (19-5) and Christopher Jacquelin (8-2).

Chris Fishgold is a top ten-ranked domestic lightweight who is an aggressive grappler with a punishing top game. Hailing from Liverpool and training under Paul Rimmer who is also coach to Paddy Pimblett he boasts 12 wins by stoppage – two TKOs and ten submissions.

Panthawi 24 zaka, Fishgold is a veteran of the European MMA scene having made his is pro debut in March 2010 clocking up a 10-0 record in four years with three CWFC wins against Steve O’Keefe (CWFC 52), Marcin Wrzosek (CWFC 57), Olivier Pastor(CWFC 62).

An 18-month break from the domestic scene followed due to injury and then a brief spell in Thailand at Phuket Top Team. While in Asia, an under par Fishgold recorded his first loss against Gi Bum Moon by decision in Korea. On his return to the UK he fought Ryan Roddy in an entertaining contest, which was scored a draw. Now Fishgold is riding a four-fight winning streak – his most recent, ndi 64 second submission at CWFC 75 in April against Jordan Miller.

"I can’t wait to be the Cage Warriors lightweight champion," Fishgold said. “It’s an honour to fight for the belt. I’m looking forward to showing my ever improving skill set.”

Adam “Boa” Boussif has clocked up a five-fight winning streak in the space of 16 months and like his opponent is an accomplished finisher with all of his nine victories coming via stoppage – seven submissions and two TKOs.

The 27-year-old Brit comes to this fight as the underdog but will have a noticeable size advantage – not only is he 6’0 to Fishgold’s 5’8 he has spent part of his career at welterweight although his most recent victory was at lightweight.

Boussif was based at Force MMA but in April 2016 travelled to Thailand and won a one-year sponsored scholarship to train and live at Tiger Muay Thai and be a part of the in-house Fight Team. A month later, as part of their team he traveled to Seoul, Korea where he defeated Jung Min Kang by rear-naked choke in the 2nd round of their bout at Top FC 11.

Boussif who is from Hertfordshire, England said, "Cage warriors has been a great platform for fighters to showcase their skills to a wider audience. I’ve been putting in the work, which will show when I become the Cage Warriors lightweight champion.”

Fishgold and Boussif will be vying for the title that was vacated by Stevie Ray before his move to the UFC

Las Vegas, Nevada – Kuuka Pomenyana Alliance (RFA) president Ed Soares announced today that the RFA is heading to Texas at the end of July. Waukulu mwambo RFA 41 will feature an explosive showdown between two of the sport’s top middleweight prospects. “Capo” Joe Gigliotti and Trevin Giles have finished every man they have faced in MMA and will now take aim at each other. RFA 41 – Gigliotti vs. Giles will take place Friday, July 29th at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio, Texas. Gigliotti (7-0) has quickly gained the reputation as one of MMA’s most feared fighters. The 22-year-old Ohio native has finished all seven of his opponents. That includes the 58-second destruction of former RFA title challenger John Poppie at RFA 37 mu April. That fight took place with UFC President Dana White sitting cageside. The UFC boss had very positive things to say to Gigliotti after the bout, which he used as added motivation heading into his next fight that was scheduled as the featured fight of RFA 39 ichi kale Friday in Chicagoland. That fight, Komabe, fell apart when his opponent Daniel Vizcaya backed out of the fight after badly missing weight. The Bellator and The Ultimate Fighter vet Vizcaya showed up to the RFA 39 weigh-in a whopping 7-pounds over the contracted weight. Gigliotti said he would fight Vizcaya anyway without even taking a percentage of his purse. The hometown veteran fighter Vizcaya backed out of the fight regardless.
Giles (6-0) is cut from the same cloth as Gigliotti. Not only is he a top undefeated middleweight prospect who has showcased his talents on AXS TV, but the 23-year-old Texan has also finished every man put in front of him. Chofunika koposa, Giles is down to fight anyone, kulikonse, anytime and happily accepted the invitation to fight “Capo Joe” in his hometown of San Antonio. The Co-waukulu mwambo RFA 41 will feature a high-stakes featherweight war between a former RFA lightweight title challenger and a seasoned MMA vet from the Amazon region of northern Brazil. Jamall Emmers (9-3), who fights out of Pinnacle MMA in southern California, is coming off an action-packed lightweight title challenge in the main event of RFA 38 earlier this month. Emmers stepped up on a week’s notice and took RFA lightweight champion Thiago Moisés into the fifth round. The fight impressed UFC President Dana White, who was sitting cageside for the event.
Emmers will return to his former residence of San Antonio to face Rivaldo Junior (15-5-2), who is a native of Manaus, Brazil that now calls San Antonio home. The longtime Brazilian veteran of MMA has fought professionally for over 10 Zaka. He has fought for prestigious Brazilian promotions Jungle Fight and Shooto Brazil and at one point had a fight scheduled with Raoni Barcelos, who is currently the reigning RFA featherweight champion. Junior looks to make his long-awaited international MMA debut in a bout he hopes will take him one step closer to finally challenging his fellow countryman Barcelos.

NEW ENGLAND FIGHTS ANNOUNCES THE RESULTS FROM LEWISTON

Lewiston, Maine (June 18, 2016) - New England Kumenyana (NEF) held the fight promotion’s latest event, “NEF 24: PROMISED LAND” lachiwelu Usiku pa Androscoggin Bank Colisée mu Lewiston, Maine. The event featured a full slate of professional boxing, amateur mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional MMA bouts. A special video tribute was presented honoring Ali prior to the beginning of the event.
