MILITARY VETERANS TO FEATURE PROMINENTLY ON NEF 24 PRO MMA CARD

Lewiston, Maine (Mei 30, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF) presenteert “NEF 24: PROMISED LAND” at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston on Juni 18, 2016. Op die avond, two military veterans will be featured in professional mixed-martial-arts (MMA) uiteinden. Mike “De Snor” Hansen (4-4) will compete in a heavyweight bout while CJ Ewer (1-0) will see action in the welterweight division.

 

Mike Hansen won two state wrestling championships competing for Mountain Valley High School (MVHS) in Rumford, Maine. Shortly after graduation, Hansen began training in MMA and made his debut in the sport in 2005. He would, echter, put his MMA career on the backburner for the next decade to enlist and serve his country as a combat engineer in the United States Army. After retiring from the Army, Hansen returned to Maine and opened Berserkers MMA in Rumford, where he trains other MVHS alum to compete in the NEF cage. OpJuni 18, Hansen will face Robert Laroski (1-1).

 

“I hope he’s been training, ’cause I’ve been active starting this year,” said Hansen. “I’m looking for a win coming off my last fight. I will find his weaknesses and exploit them. I’m looking for the finish, and it won’t take long. Just over 51 jaren geleden, (Mohammed) Ali got the first round, first minute stoppage over (Zoontje) Liston right at the Colisee. My fight will end in similar fashion, under the same roof.”

 

CJ Ewer is a proud member of the United States Air Force security forces. When he is not overseas serving his country, Ewer can be found back home in the Bangor, Maine area training at Young’s MMA. After a successful amateur career, he submitted Zenon Herrera in his pro debut earlier this year. Op Juni 18, Ewer will take on “The Fresh Prince” Phil Rowe (1-2) from Florida.

Hyannis, Massachusetts (Mei 15, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, hield zijn meest recente gebeurtenis, “NEF 23: CAGE THE CAPE” op zaterdagavond in het Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC) in Hyannis, Massachusetts. De HYCC was in capaciteit voor de eerste gesanctioneerde mixed-martial-arts (MMA) tonen ooit op Cape Cod gehouden. Hyannis, Massachusetts (Mei 11, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, zal zijn volgende evenement te houden, “NEF 23: CAGE THE CAPE” dit Zaterdag, Mei 14, 2016 at the Hyannis Youth & Community Center in Hyannis, Massachusetts. The event will be the first sanctioned mixed-martial-arts (MMA) tonen ooit op Cape Cod gehouden. Eerder vandaag, the promotion announced that it would conduct the event weigh-in this Vrijdag, Mei 13, 2016, bij 5:00 pm EDT at Red Face Jack’s Pub. Red Face Jack’s Pub is located at 585 Main Street in West Yarmouth, Massachusetts.

 

Weigh-ins are open to the public. All of the fighters competing on Saturday night will be at the weigh-in, Inclusief headliners Brendan “vergrendelen” Battles (0-0) en Mike “De Snor” Hansen. NEF CAGES THE CAPE ON MAY 14 WITH THRILLING FIGHT CARD

Hyannis, Massachusetts (Mei 6, 2016) – It will be no day at the beach, but they might just leave some blood on the sand. New England Fights (NEF) plans to storm Cape Cod on Zaterdag, Mei 14, 2016 with the first-ever mixed-martial-arts (MMA) event to be held on the popular tourist destination. The northeast’s top regional fight promotion will pack up its cage in one week and make the 200-mile trek south from NEF’s base of operations in Lewiston, Maine to the Hyannis Youth & Community Center (HYCC).

 

The attention the event has received has been staggering. “The Cape Cod community has welcomed us with open arms,” zei NEF mede-eigenaar en promotor Nick Di Salvo. “The HYCC is a great venue with an awesome staff. Patti Lloyd at the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce has been a huge help in making this event happen as well. And we have some fantastic new sponsors on the Cape like Bodystrong Fitness who have helped us spread the word.”

 

Inderdaad, the word has spread and ticket sales have been so strong, and demand so overwhelming, that the promotion had to order more chairs and tickets when cageside inventory sold out last week. “The fans were asking us to add some more cageside seats, so we happily accommodated them,” noted DiSalvo.

 

And fight fans in attendance will be treated to a night filled with wild cage action. The card is stacked with world class wrestlers and martial artists from Maine, Cape Cod and Massachusetts’ South Shore. Hyannis-based Team Juniko will be prominently featured in no less than six of the evening’s bouts.

 

Brendan “vergrendelen” Battles (0-0) of Juniko is scheduled to make his professional MMA debut in the heavyweight main event, locking horns with Mike “De Snor” Hansen (4-3). Battles was a three-time All American wrestler out of nearby Nauset Regional High School where he won two state championships and three New England championships. Hij was 2-0 as an amateur MMA fighter. Hansen has a wrestling pedigree of his own, having captured a state title for Mountain Valley High School in Rumford, Maine. Hansen is a ten-year-plus veteran of the MMA cage.

 

The co-main event of the evening will feature a rematch from “NEF 15” in november 2014. “Onbreekbaar 2.0” Derek Shorey (3-6) will look to avenge a loss to Mat “Ken Doll” Denning (2-2). Shorey’s supporters have claimed for the past year-and-a-half that Denning’s submission victory was a fluke and that Denning would not be able to defeat Shorey a second time should the pair ever meet again. Those claims will be put to the test in Hyannis in this lightweight rematch.

 

“It was a short notice fight that NEF asked for, and I know Derek wanted a rematch,” zei Denning. “After I beat him again, I’ll prove it wasn’t a fluke. I wanted this fight so I could get some new fans in Massachusetts and show my skills. I have had two losses in a row to great guys and want to get back in the win column.”

 

“I thought I could beat him the first time, and he caught me with an armbar,” Shorey admitted. “This time I will leave that cage the victor.”

 

“It’s one of those fights we always get asked whether there will be a rematch,” NEF verklaarde mede-eigenaar en matchmaker Matt Peterson. “This will finally prove, once and for all, whether Matt Denning got lucky coming up with that armbar that night. The bout will be Redman’s professional debut after six amateur fights with NEF in Maine. Boutin is a prolific striker based out of the Choi Institute in Portland. The fight will take place at the middleweight limit of 185-pounds.

 

The amateur headliner will see Dustin Veinott (4-4) in a flyweight showdown with Ryan “Razzle Dazzle” Kane (4-3). Veinott is the former NEF MMA Amateur Flyweight Champion. He dropped the title in a very close split decision loss to Ryan Burgess (2-0) last November. Kane, from Plymouth, Massachusetts, is a member of Team Juniko and an accomplished competitor in the ancient Greek martial art of Pankration.

 

A women’s fight will be prominently featured on the amateur card. Angela Young (1-1) is gepland te staan Kylie O'Hearn (0-0). Young is coming off a big win just two weeks ago against Hannah Sparrell (1-1) bij “NEF 22” in Lewiston. O’Hearn, another product of Plymouth, Massachusetts and Team Juniko, will be making her amateur MMA debut. The fight will take place at the bantamweight limit of 135-pounds.

 

Young's teamgenoot Victor Irwin (1-0) will make the five-hour road trip along with her from Bangor, Maine to compete in Hyannis. Irwin will square off with newcomer Tracey Schryba (0-0) in the amateur light-heavyweight division.

 

Brewster’s ed Forlenza (0-0) makes his amateur debut against Frank Johanson (0-1) in a 160-pound catchweight bout. Forlenza is a 2004 graduate of Nauset Regional High School where he was a standout on the wrestling team. Johanson’s opponent pulled out of their bout on fight day two weeks ago at “NEF 22.” Not one to let a good fight camp go to waste, Johanson agreed to take the fight with Forlenza in Hyannis.

 

In another 160-pound catchweight bout, Steve Bang (3-4) neemt Fabian Miranda (2-0). Bang is a member of the famous father-sons fighting family of Auburn, Maine. Miranda represents Team Juniko and will look to add to his undefeated record in the fight with Bang.

 

Rounding out the fight card is a 190-pound catchweight bout featuring Anthony Spires (0-1) en Thomas Lee Davis (1-0). Spires, an independent fighter from Maine, hopes to rebound from a loss in his debut last fall at “NEF XX.” Davis is a member of Team Juniko.

Eerder vandaag, NEF announced the main event of the fight card. Brendan “Lock Down” Battles (0-0) has signed to face Mike “The Mustache” Hansen (4-3) in a professional bout at a fight weight of 265-pounds.

 

Brendan Battles is a native of Eastham, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. There, he was a three-time All American wrestler for Nauset Regional High School. During his high school career, Battles captured a total of two state championships and three New England championships with an amazing 161 wins to his credit prior to graduating in 2012. A multi-sport athlete, he later played defensive end and tackle for the University of Connecticut. Battles made his NEF debut earlier this year at “NEF 21: THE IMMORTALS” when he efficiently dispatched of Mike Hansen’s Berserkers teammate, Dave Smith (2-2) in the first round via TKO ref stoppage. Battles trains out of Gracie Fitness and is a member of Team Juniko based out of Hyannis.

 

“I look forward to Mike coming down to my backyard for my first professional fight,” said Battles. “I know he is a tough fighter, but I look forward to showcasing the skills I have acquired thus far as I continue my journey to become a well-rounded MMA fighter.”

 

Mike Hansen is the founding member of Berserkers MMA based out of Rumford, Maine. He won a Maine state championship in wrestling as a heavyweight in 2004. Hansen made his MMA debut shortly after graduating from high school, only to step away from the sport for a decade in order to serve his country as a combat engineer in the United States Army. He returned to the MMA cage in 2015 as a member of the NEF roster. Hansen has become known for taking tough fights against opponents that he is generally undersized next to. Less than two weeks ago, he defeated former top-tanked amateur light heavyweight Jesse “The Barbarian” Baughman (0-2) via first round submission at “NEF 22: ALL ROADS LEAD HERE.” Always up for a challenge, Hansen requested the opportunity to face Battles in his highly anticipated professional debut.

 

“I like this fight because I get to fight in Massachusetts again,” stated Hansen. “I made my pro debut at Club Lido at the ‘Wonderland’ Blue Line stop just over a decade ago. I rode the ‘T’ from Fenway to Wonderland on August 6th, 2005 to make my debut against Eric Brown who I beat by rear naked choke at 1:27 in de eerste ronde. Jumping up two weight classes sucks, but I’ve competed at this weight many times. Battles is a very accomplished athlete with a stacked resume. With only three minutes of cage time, I think it’s time Battles was in the cage with someone ready to fight. I will gladly welcome Battles to the professional ranks and see how he stacks up. NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 22 In Lewiston

Lewiston, Maine (April 23, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, hield zijn meest recente gebeurtenis, “NEF 22: Alle wegen leiden HIER,” Saturday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Meer dan 3,000 fight fans were on hand for the event, making it one of the largest crowds ever to witness an NEF event.

 

On the boxing portion of the card, Brandon “De Cannon” Bes (11-1-1) fought to a majority draw in a six-round contest with James Lester (10-9-1). Many of Berry’s supporters in attendance felt that he won the fight, but two of the judges had it even on the scorecards.

 

The headliner of the amateur MMA card saw Caleb Hall (7-3) captured the vacant amateur featherweight title with a second-round submission of Erik Nelson (2-3). On the professional side of the MMA card, Devin Powell (6-1) took home the lightweight championship by defeating Jesse Erickson (6-5) in the first round via technical knockout.

BOYINGTON RETAINS, THREE NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT NEF 21

Lewiston, Maine (Februari 7, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, hield zijn meest recente gebeurtenis, “NEF 21: IMMORTALS” Zaterdag nacht in de Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The Colisée was a packed house for the promotion’s second hybrid mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional boxing event. Fight fans were treated to a marathon evening of nonstop action featuring 26 bouts in total.

 

In the MMA main event of the evening, in what can only be described as a “thriller,” Bruce “Pretty Boy” Boyington (13-8) defeated Jon Lemke (5-4) via split decision to retain the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title. Boyington and Lemke battled back-and-forth for five brutal rounds in what many in attendance were calling one of the best fights in NEF history.

 

In the boxing headliner, Northeast Junior Welterweight Champion Brandon “De Cannon” Bes (11-1) handed Tollison Lewis the first loss of his professional boxing career (2-1) with a second-round stoppage via technical knockout (WHO).

 

On the amateur MMA portion of the card, three inaugural champions were crowned. Ryan Glover (3-1) took home the light heavyweight title after defeating Mike Williams (1-1), while Johnny Crafts (4-0) captured the bantamweight strap and Ricky Dexter (5-2) won the welterweight championship.

 

NEF also announced that its next event would take place on April 23, 2016, once again at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston.

Lewiston, Maine (Februari 3, 2016) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, zal zijn volgende evenement te houden, “NEF 21: IMMORTALS” dit Zaterdag, Februari 6, 2016 bij de Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. The event will feature both mixed-martial-arts (MMA) and professional boxing bouts with an MMA cage and a boxing ring set up side-by-side. Eerder vandaag, the promotion announced that it would hold the event weigh-in this Vrijdag, Februari 5, 2016, bij 2:00 pm EST at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center. The Ramada is located at 490 Pleasant Street in Lewiston, Maine.

 

Weigh-ins are open to the public and free to attend. Lewiston, Maine (September 13, 2015) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, hield haar negentiende mixed-martial-arts (MMA) evenement, “NEF XIX: HOMECOMING,” Zaterdag nacht in de Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Lewiston, Maine (Augustus 17, 2015) - New England Fights (NEF), Amerika's nummer een regionale strijd promotie, zal haar negentiende mixed-martial-arts te houden (MMA) evenement, “NEF XIX: HOMECOMING,” op zaterdag, September 12, 2015 bij de Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, Maine. Gebruikt op de professionele deel van de kaart zal een licht-zwaargewicht matchup tussen zijn Crowsneck Boutin (1-0) en Mike “De Snor” Hansen (2-2). Beide mannen met elkaar concurreren onder NEF ontwikkelingsstoornissen aanbiedingen.

 

Onlangs, Boutin was NEF mede-eigenaar en matchmaker Matt Peterson gastenbeoordelingen op de NEF Podcast. Boutin besproken, onder andere onderwerpen, opgroeien in Lubec, Maine, de komende periode met Hansen, en zijn recente ondertekening van een multi-gevecht NEF ontwikkeling deal. Boutin en Peterson gesproken over hun eerste ontmoeting zo'n drie-en-een-half jaar geleden, kort voor Boutin maakte zijn debuut in amateur “NEF III.”

 

“Ik was opknoping uit met een paar vrienden die een ticket kreeg voor uw (NEF) eerste evenement, dus ging ik naar dat en het was het grootste ding,” herinnerde Boutin. “Ik herinner me praten met mensen en dan contact met u op. Ik was echt niet iets te doen op dat moment. Ik voelde me soort verloren. Ik was een beetje vasthouden aan het gevoel van willen. Ik wilde alleen maar om iets te doen. Meer, Ik vond om te vechten en schroot. Ik heb altijd keek naar de sport. Ik denk dat het gewoon allemaal bij elkaar kwamen in die tijd.”

 

Met geen formele opleiding, Boutin zou zijn eerste aanval te verliezen. Kort daarna, Peterson gezet Boutin in contact met coach Jon Pinette van de Choi Institute in Portland, Maine. Het is daar dat Boutin vond zijn voet in de martial arts, terwijl, op hetzelfde moment, smeden van sterke vriendschappen en relaties met teamgenoten.

 

“Het is een vrij geweldige sfeer,” genoemde Boutin van Choi Institute. “Ik heb nog nooit verbleven in een plaats heel lang mijn hele leven, behalve voor deze plek. Ik zie mezelf niet verlaten. Het is een geweldige sfeer hier. Ik belde Jon. Ik herinner me dat echt nerveus om Jon noemen, Ik zat te denken over dit eerder, maar hij was echt uitnodigend… Iedereen hier is echt uitnodigend, echt ondersteunen. Er is echt een goede mix van mensen hier. We hebben jong tot oud. We hebben alles in tussen. Het is een zeer aanvaarden plek om te zijn. Het is een geweldige plek om te trainen. Iedereen krijgt langs binnen en buiten de sportschool.”

 

Boutin maakte de beslissing om professionele eerder dit jaar zetten na in totaal streden 13 amateur gevechten. Hij zou verslaan MMA Athletix hoofdcoach Ryan Cowette (2-3) in zijn debuut. Daarbij, Boutin kreeg een maatregel van wraak als het Cowette's protégé Brent Dillingham was geweest (1-1) die Boutin had ingeleverd zijn eerste verlies in Boutin amateur-debuut op “NEF III.” Boutin zegt dat er echt geen vijandigheid tussen hem en Cowette, maar de post-fight uitwisseling tussen Boutin en Dillingham op “NEF III” in 2012 is nog steeds in de achterkant van zijn hoofd. Hij geeft toe dat hij een rematch met Dillingham zou graag in de nabije toekomst.

 

“Voor zover Brent Dillingham gaat, Hij is iemand die ik zou echt graag binnenkort vechten op 205 als hij kan krijgen in vorm en me daar ontmoeten,” Boutin verklaard. “Ik zou graag dat gevecht ergens binnenkort.”

 

Boutin zal zijn werk geknipt voor hem met Hansen op September 12 in Lewiston. Hansen is een volleerd worstelaar, een staat kampioenschap voor Mountain Valley High School in Rumford hebben gewonnen, Maine in 2004. Boutin, echter, heeft er alle vertrouwen in zijn eigen kunnen zowel staande als op de mat.
