NEF FINISHES 2018 SEASON WITH SOLD-OUT EVENT IN PORTLAND

UŽ nedelsiant paleisti: Portlandas, Meino (Lapkritis 18, 2018) - Naujosios Anglijos Kovų (NEF) held its most recent mixed-martial-arts event, “NEF 36: Mūšis dėl aukso,” on Saturday night at Aura in Portland, Meino. The event officially sold-out days prior to doors opening. It was the fifth and final NEF event of the 2018 sezonas, and what many in attendance insisted was the standout show of the year.

Į pagrindinį renginį, Ryanas Sandersas (18-9) put the NEF MMA Professional Lightweight Title on the line against Jacob Bohn (7-6). Sanders retained the championship after the cageside doctor stopped the fight due to a cut on Bohn’s head in the second round.

History was made when Ras Hylton (3-2) ir Yorgan De Castro (3-0) faced off to crown the first-ever NEF MMA Professional Cruiserweight Champion in the co-main event. De Castro captured the strap in dramatic fashion with a violent first-round knockout of Hylton.

Matt Probin (3-0) made his long-awaited NEF debut against Lionel Young (7-16). Probin remained undefeated in his professional career when he forced a referee stoppage to strikes early in the second round.

In the opening fight of the evening, Taylor Thompson (3-0) ir Catie Denning (1-1) waged an absolute war that had the entire crowd on its feet to kick off the amateur card. Thompson won a unanimous decision on the judges’ veiklos rodikliais.

Later on in the amateur card, Megan Rosado (0-1) ir Glory Watson (2-0) battled back and forth in another crowd-pleasing thriller that went the distance. Watson was victorious via split decision in a very close fight.

In the third and final women’s fight of the evening, Chelsea Tucker (1-3) picked up the first win of her amateur career with a late-fight technical knockout of BJ Garceau (1-1).

Zacas Richardas (3-0) remained undefeated with a first-round submission of Chris Lachcik (0-2). It was a fight that Richard had dedicated to the memory of his older sister Lacey who passed away from cancer six years ago this weekend at the age of 23.

Likewise, in a post fight interview, an emotional Henris Clark (5-4) dedicated his victory over Killianas Murphy (1-2) to a friend of his named Justin who recently passed away.

NEF further announced that its next event, “NEF 37: SUB ZERO,” would originate from the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor, Maine on Friday, Vasaris 1, 2019. The main event will feature Joshas “Hook On” Harvey (5-0-1) ir Bilas “Jonesi” Jonesas (13-11) squaring off for the vacant NEF MMA Professional Featherweight Title.

Portlandas, Meino (Lapkritis 2, 2018) - Naujosios Anglijos Kovų (NEF) surengs paskutinį mišrių kovos menų renginį 2018, “NEF 36: Mūšis dėl aukso,” šeštadienį, Lapkritis 17 „Aura“ mieste Portlande, Meino. The professional side of the card will be headlined by a pair of title fights as Ryanas Sandersas (17-9) defends the lightweight strap against Jacob Bohn (7-5) ir Ras Hylton (3-1) atitinka Yorgan De Castro (2-0) to crown the first-ever NEF cruiserweight champion.

 

 

 

Sanders has held the lightweight title since April 2017 when he defeated Jon Lemke (7-9) in a tournament final. Despite several previous attempts that fell out due to injury, Blackpool, England-native and current Maine resident Matt Probin has yet to compete on an NEF card. Probin has fought all over the world in numerous combat sports disciplines, including competing in Muay Thai in Thailand and boxing in Boston, Masačusetsas. In recent months, he has scored back-to-back first-round knockout wins in Vermont MMA bouts. Probin currently trains with Recon Fitness in Westbrook, Meino.

Lionel Young is a longtime veteran of the New England cage wars. He has just entered his tenth year as an MMA competitor. And while Young’s record might look like that of a journeyman, he has faced some of the top talent the region has to offer, including the likes of current 11th-ranked UFC bantamweight Rob Font (15-4). Like Probin, Young has spent his fair share of time as a professional in the boxing ring – a veteran of seven bouts. Hailing from the fighting city of Brockton, Masačusetsas – home of legendary boxing world champions Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler – Young currently trains with Redline Fight Sports in Cambridge, Masačusetsas.

NEW CHAMPIONS CROWNED, MAIN EVENT THRILLS AS NEF 31 SELLS OUT AURA FOR PORTLAND DEBUT

Pagrindiniame renginio vakare, hometown favorite Paul Gorman (11-9) took on James Blair (5-2) in a 130-pound catchweight contest. The crowd was on the edge of its collective seat for a thrilling three-round war that will be a definite “Kova metų” candidate for 2017. Gorman pulled off the unanimous decision on the judges’ veiklos rodikliais.

The ever-popular John “Pirmarūšis” Spindulys (3-8) returned to the NEF cage after a three-year retirement. Raio faced a game Zenon Herrera (0-6) and came out with the win in the third round when Herrera tapped out to a guillotine choke.

The amateur side of the card will feature a total of three title fights. NEF Amateur Heavyweight Champion Nikas “The Guardian” Gulliver (4-0) will defend his strap against WWE signeeTerrance Jean-Jacques (2-0), o Nate Boucher (2-0) ir Justinas Withamas (3-4) square off for the vacant flyweight title. Aleksas Walker (4-1) ir Hilarie Rose (4-3) will make history when they battle for the first-ever NEF women’s championship in the strawweight division.

The Walker-Rose fight will be one of four female bouts featured on the “NEF 31” amateur card. Carol Linn Powell (0-0), wife of former NEF Professional Lightweight Champion and current UFC competitor Devin Powell (8-3), is scheduled to make her cage debut against Francesca Morabito (0-0). Jayda “lil Killah” Bailey (0-0) makes her debut just eight days after her 18th birthday, the legal minimum age for competing in MMA in Maine, in a bantamweight bout with Danae Dostie (0-0) o Sarah Matulis (0-0) ir Chelsea Elizabeth(0-0) face off in yet another double amateur debut.

PARKER AND PROBIN TO GO HEAD-TO-HEAD AT NEF 31 PORTLANDE

Josh Parker is the founder and head coach of Ruthless MMA & Boksas. A two-sport athlete, Parker has split his professional career between the MMA cage and the boxing ring. He has won two of his last three fights for NEF, most recently dominating Andre Belcarris (0-2) for three rounds on his way to a unanimous decision victory in June. Parker will look to continue his winning ways when he meets Probin on lapkričio 3-iasis.

Originally from Blackpool, England and now a Maine resident, Matt Probin divides his training between Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Young’s MMA. Probin went 6-2 over the course of his amateur MMA career. While Probin has not competed in MMA in more than three years, he has been active as a professional boxer and kickboxer in recent years. Į 2016, Probin had a stint training Muay Thai in Thailand where he competed at the world famous Bangla Boxing Stadium – one of Thailand’s most venerated fight venues.

“I’m pumped for this fight,” declared Probin. “I don’t think I’ve ever been this excited about fighting someone before. Thanks to NEF for making it happen. Probin, a well known boxer, kickboxer and mixed-martial-artist, came to Maine and began training in the Pine Tree State in 2015. A native of Blackpool, Anglija, Probin had spent time training in North Carolina prior to arriving in Maine. He put together a 6-2 record as an amateur MMA competitor and won a regional title in the Carolinas. While he has not competed in MMA since moving to Maine, Probin has stayed active competing in other combat sports. Jis yra 2-2 kaip profesionalus boksininkas, and he has also spent time training Muay Thai in Thailand in recent years. Probin even competed at the world famous Bangla Boxing Stadium – one of Thailand’s premier Muay Thai venues. He will make his professional MMA debut on Balandis 29 kaip Bangor narys, Maine’s Young’s MMA.

“I feel like this has been a long time coming,” said Probin when reached for comment. “I’m excited to make my debut for NEF and put on a show for my friends and fans in my adopted hometown. Ar nemirksi!”

With more than two-dozen fights since 2011, Rob Best has been one of the Northeast’s most continuously active MMA competitors in recent years.
