NEF FINISHES 2018 SEASON WITH SOLD-OUT EVENT IN PORTLAND

The event officially sold-out days prior to doors opening. It was the fifth and final NEF event of the 2018 сезон, and what many in attendance insisted was the standout show of the year.

History was made when Рас Хилтън (3-2) и Yorgan De Castro (3-0) faced off to crown the first-ever NEF MMA Professional Cruiserweight Champion in the co-main event. De Castro captured the strap in dramatic fashion with a violent first-round knockout of Hylton.

Мат Пробин (3-0) made his long-awaited NEF debut against Lionel Young (7-16). Probin remained undefeated in his professional career when he forced a referee stoppage to strikes early in the second round.

In the opening fight of the evening, Taylor Thompson (3-0) и Кейти Денинг (1-1) waged an absolute war that had the entire crowd on its feet to kick off the amateur card. Thompson won a unanimous decision on the judges’ скоркарти.

Sanders has held the lightweight title since April 2017 when he defeated Jon Lemke (7-9) in a tournament final. He has won a remarkable eight in a row in the NEF cage, not losing on Maine soil in four years. New York’s Jacob Bohn has won his last two in a row over veterans Kenny Foster (12-13) and Lewis Corapi (8-4) съответно.

 

 

 

Ras Hylton is coming off a highlight-reel elbow knockout of Eric Bedard (6-8) през август миналата година. Despite several previous attempts that fell out due to injury, Blackpool, England-native and current Maine resident Matt Probin has yet to compete on an NEF card. Probin has fought all over the world in numerous combat sports disciplines, including competing in Muay Thai in Thailand and boxing in Boston, Massachusetts. In recent months, he has scored back-to-back first-round knockout wins in Vermont MMA bouts. Probin currently trains with Recon Fitness in Westbrook, Maine.

But it’s here, it’s happening, and I’m pumped about it to finally be fighting in my own back yard. Lionel Young is a longtime veteran of the New England cage wars. He has just entered his tenth year as an MMA competitor. Like Probin, Young has spent his fair share of time as a professional in the boxing ring – a veteran of seven bouts. Hailing from the fighting city of Brockton, Massachusetts – home of legendary boxing world champions Rocky Marciano and Marvin Hagler – Young currently trains with Redline Fight Sports in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Josh Parker is the founder and head coach of Ruthless MMA & Бокс. A two-sport athlete, Parker has split his professional career between the MMA cage and the boxing ring. He has won two of his last three fights for NEF, most recently dominating Andre Belcarris (0-2) for three rounds on his way to a unanimous decision victory in June. Parker will look to continue his winning ways when he meets Probin on November 3rd.

“I want to thank NEF for making this fight,” said Parker when reached for comment. “I’m excited to get back in there. We recently expanded Ruthless and moved to a new location. Our team keeps growing and they are pushing me every day. I look forward to putting on a show on November 3rd.”

Originally from Blackpool, England and now a Maine resident, Matt Probin divides his training between Central Maine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Young’s MMA. Probin went 6-2 over the course of his amateur MMA career. While Probin has not competed in MMA in more than three years, he has been active as a professional boxer and kickboxer in recent years. В 2016, Probin had a stint training Muay Thai in Thailand where he competed at the world famous Bangla Boxing Stadium – one of Thailand’s most venerated fight venues.

Matt Probin delivers a flying knee on a Muay Thai fight card in Thailand

Probin, a well known boxer, kickboxer and mixed-martial-artist, came to Maine and began training in the Pine Tree State in 2015.
