QUINCY, Masse. (Juillet 31, 2017) – Samedi nuit, Août 5, three-time world title challenge Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO) is taking on former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 KOs) en cas de co-vedette de huit rondes sur la “Fight Night at the Bay” carte, largely to try and better position herself for one final world title shot.

Fight Night at the Bay” carte, présenté par Granite Chin Promotions, will be held at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Former New England. champion poids welter Derek Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Salem (MA), rencontrera l'ancien challenger titre mondial Michael “Sang-froid” Clark (44-16-1, 18 KOs) en cas de huit tour.
Poland-native Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO), fighting out of Marshfield (MA), is a 37-year-old lawyer who practices in Brockton (MA). She lost a pair of vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) Super Welterweight title fights to a Pole in Poland, Swede in Sweden. Septembre dernier, Lopes lost a 10-round decision to Ewa Piatkowska (9-1) en Pologne; she dropped a 10-round majority decision in Sweden to Mikaela Lauren (22-3) en 2014. En 2013, Lopes lost a 10-round unanimous decision in Rhode Island to Tori Nelson (6-0-3) for the vacant International Boxing Association (IBA) Championnat du monde mi-moyens.
The highlight of Lopes’ 8 ½-year professional career, jusque là, is her 10-round complete shutout (100-90 X 3) decision victory, Juillet 30, 2016, à Szilvia Szagbados (13-6) à Plymouth (MA) for the vacant WBC Silver female welterweight crown. Lopes has also defeated world champions Yvonne Reis et Kali Reis.
Lopes vs. Garland has world title fight implications for the winner. “I’d like to position myself for one more world title shot,” Lopes said. “I’m still learning every fight and I haven’t reached my plateau yet. Garland has good experience, she’s been around as long as I’ve been fighting. I can’t afford to lose this fight, but I’ve always had that in the back of my mind. I need an experienced opponent like her to push me, to learn something new, and I always like to fight at home.
It’s tough to fight here (NOUS.) for a world title. You almost always need to travel overseas. We’re limited here because of the required purse (for the defending champion to come to the states) and sanctioning fees for promoters in America. Women’s boxing is more popular in Europe, Mexico and parts of South America. But I have had a very good run and great relationships with New England promoters, who’ve put me on their cards.
I think women’s boxing maybe, just maybe, will start changing if the trend continues as fighters such as Boucliers de Clarisse et Katie Taylor, women boxers who’ve made names in the Olympics, keep turning pro. Amanda Serrano has gotten some good exposure fighting on television, trop. We’ve had to travel for world title fights but, avec optimisme, things are changing for the better.
Other top N.E. boxers will also be in action Août. 5, including Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 KOs), of Quincy, qui carrés au large contre Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 KOs), of Shelton (CT) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti est également co-promoteur de “Fight Night at the Bay”.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (MA) welters Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 KOs) vs. Norwalk’s (CT) Shakha Moore (12-23-3, 2 KOs), Quincy’s undefeated U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 KOs) vs. Florida light heavyweight “Argent” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 KOs), and Ireland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Philly’s Demetrius Thomas (0-4).

Derek Silveira making up for lost time HeadliningFight Night at the Bay

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE
Samedi nuit, Août 5, in Quincy, MA
QUINCY, Masse. (Juillet 18, 2017) – Former New England. champion poids welter Derek Silveira Is trying to make up for lost time, 3 ½ years of ring inactivity from the summer of 2013 until this past April, as he prepares to headline the August 5eFight Night at the Bay” carte, présenté par Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), fighting out of Salem (MA), affrontera l'ancien challenger titre mondial Michael “Sang-froid” Clark (44-16-1, 18 KOs) en cas de huit tour.
The 31-year-old Silveira fought for a long time with bones spurs in his right elbow. He underwent surgery and later went to training camp in Las Vegas for a fight that, malheureusement, fell through. Puis, as a worker for a moving company, he fell through steps, resulting in torn labrum in his left hip. It took a terribly frustrating 1 ½ years for his insurance company to finally approve the operation, which was followed, bien sûr, by a lengthy therapy program.
A long process,” Silveira said. “It was tough watching everybody fight while I was unable. I even had to watch guys fight for the New England title that I never lost in the ring but was unable to keep because I couldn’t fight.
Silveira was a decorated New England amateur boxer with more than 300 allumettes, including six consecutive Central Mass (Lowell) Golden Gloves titles and two New England championships (he lost a decision one year to current world junior middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade), as well as multiple Rocky Marciano Tournament gold medals to go along with those he won at the Silver Mittens and Junior Olympics.
Maintenant 31 and having fought the past 20 ans, Silveira is hungry to prove himself on a grander scale, départ Août. 5 with Clark. “He will be a good test for me for a comparison to where I was in the past,” Silveira commented about his veteran opponent. “Clark is a veteran who fights on his toes. I used to watch him when he was on The Contender (televised realty show). My sparring partner back then was (la fin) Jeff Fraza, who also was on The Contender. It’ll be good to see where I am.
I grew up as a boxer. I had huge legs, strong upper body, and good footwork. I played soccer as a kid. I lacked power. The last few years I’ve worked on my power. Maintenant, Je suis un boxeur-puncheur. Pour ce combat, I will start out boxingmy endurance will be thereand then I’ll look to take him out in the later rounds. I want to look good and not get hit by his strong right hand.
Silveira has one of the largest fan-bases in New England, largely from North Shore (de Boston) communautés, and Derek knows that they will be out in force supporting him Août. 5. “My fans travel,” he insisted. “Quincy isn’t too far from the North Shore, certainly closer than Foxwoods (Mashantucket, CT), and I had a lot of fans there. My fans are overpowering; so loud and a little crazy.”.
Many of NE’s other best and most popular professional boxers will be in action Août. 5. The eight-round fight between three-time world title challenger, welters Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO), of Marshfield (MA), and former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 KOs) has been elevated to co-feature because of its potential world title fight implications for the winner.
Quincy fighter Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 KOs) visages Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 KOs), of Shelton (CT) for the vacant New England cruiserweight title in an eight-round bout. Traietti est également co-promoteur de “Fight Night at the Bay”, in addition to being a former World Boxing Council (WBC) United States cruiserweight titlist, college graduate and Iraq War veteran.
Fighting on the undercard in six-round bouts are Dorchester (MA) welters Gabriel Duluc (11-2, 2 KOs) vs. Norwalk’s (CT) Shaka Moore (12-23-3, 2 KOs), Quincy’s undefeated U.S. Marine veteran Brandon Montella (7-0, 6 KOs) vs. Florida light heavyweight “Argent” Mike Sawyer (7-8, 5 KOs), and Irreland-native and Quincy junior middleweight Paddy Irwin (3-0, 2 KOs) vs. Philly’s Demetrius Thomas (0-4).

This is still a make-dominates sport. I tell young girls to box as a side job. I have two Master’s Degrees and I’m a full-time teacher in New York. Boxing is my hobby. Very few women can make enough money boxing to make a good living. I don’t know if it’s because I was born in Greece and boxing is in my blood, but I love this sport and that’s what keeps me going. Budding star Irvin Gonzalez Starting to make waves in Super featherweight division

POUR DIFFUSION IMMÉDIATE
“L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre 3” 10 juin à Worcester, MA

WORCESTER, Masse. (Mai 24, 2017) – New England’s top prospect with 10 pro fights of less, undefeated hometown favorite Irvin Gonzalez, is on a fast track going into his June 10e headline fight in the third installment of the “L'avenir de la Nouvelle-Angleterre” série, au Centre DCU (Salle d'exposition) à Worcester, Massachusetts.

Rivera.
The 21-year-old Gonzalez (6-0, 6 KOs) prend Raul Lopez (10-2-1, 5 KOs), du Bronx (New York), in an eight-round main event for the vacant Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) All-American super featherweight championship.
Pro boxing returns to the DCU Center for the first time en 11 ans, ironiquement, when promoter Jose Antonio Rivera defeated Alejandro Garcia, by way of a 12-round unanimous decision, pour l'Association mondiale de boxe (WBA) World super welterweight title.
I am excited to watch Irvin’s boxing career flourish,” promoter Jose Rivera remarked. “He has all the tools to become a world champion. Fighting for the UBF championship will be the first of many and I am glad that we are able to give him this opportunity. I see big things for Irvin and I hope fans come out Samedi nuit, Juin 10e, to support him and the other local boxers.”.
“I’m blessed to be fighting in Worcester for my first title. It’s not a big title but it’s like taking baby steps to a world title. Since I started boxing at the Boys & Girls club, I always wanted to be like Jose, a three-time world champion. Maintenant, it’s my turn, and I’m fighting again in my city.
Gonzalez has a perfect pro record: six rights, six wins by knockout. Cependant, he’s only had fought a grand total of eight rounds, et Juin 10e he’s in a scheduled eight-round match. The well-spoken youngster isn’t concerned with the step up in rounds and opposition.
I’ve been asked about that by a lot of media, trainers and other fighters,” il a expliqué. “I’ve always trained like it’s for a world title fight, 12 tours, so I’m not worried about going into deep water. I’m in magnificent shape, three weeks before the fight, and even in the amateurs I’ve always gotten stronger as the fight went along. In sparring, I get stronger, so going eight isn’t a problem for me.
I don’t really know much about my opponent. He won a few national titles but hasn’t fought too often. I’ll see what he brings into the ring and then adjust. I know I’m taller.
Gonzalez learned a lot when he was a sparring partner for Guillermo Rigondeaux in Florida that was supposed to be a six-week training camp that ended after three weeks due to Rigondeauxfight being cancelled.
I learned a lot about different training methods that I now use,” Irvin continued. “His techniques are phenomenal. I was around a world champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and I saw his work ethic. After all he’s accomplished, he still has a great work ethic, and I learned from him that a fighter need continue working like he does until the day it’s all over. It’s not all about money, it’s having fun every day, doing what we love.
Former world female heavyweight champions SonyaThe ScholarLamonakis (10-2-2, 1 KO), the New York City teacher who lived in Turners Falls (MA), et LauraLady Ram” Ramsey (10-7, 5 KOs) battle for the vacant UBF World heavyweight title in the eight-round co-featured event.
Pembroke (MA) cruiserweight Vinnie “Cauchemar américain” histoire (16-1-1, 15 KOs) meets invading Brazilian knockout artist Marcelo LeonardoQueizada” da Silva (22-4, 17 KOs) in an eight-round Special Cruiserweight Attraction.

I’m also excited to have five Worcester boxers on our event at the DCU and I hope our Worcester fan-base comes out to support them. I am looking forward to seeing another great night of action-packed boxing.

Mat “Tireur pointu” Remillard's Ring revient sans poisson d'avril

LOWELL, Masse. (Mars 3, 2017) – Western New England won its fourth consecutive New England Tournament of Champions open class team title last night in the grand finale of the 71st annual Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship, à l'auditorium historique Lowell Memorial.
Western NE had seven individual winners to earn the Bill Hoar Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Team. Northern New England finished second with three individual winners and Central New England had two.
“Encore une fois,” Nouvelle-Angleterre Golden Gloves Directeur exécutif Bobby Russo dit, “it was a great tournament with so many good, competitive matches. We had the biggest crowd of the season turnout for the finals. The draw was done by computer, so the marches were nice and fair. I really liked the way these boxers were matched. The fans here in Lowell have been appreciated for a long time watching good fights and we plan to keep that rich tradition going.
Western New England bantamweight Nathan Martinez, qui a vaincu Joseph Valdez on points last night, was named the recipient of the Thomas Costello Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Boxer.
Norther New England lightweight Liz Leddy won her sixth All-New England title with a close points win over Kelsay Kaiser, while three-time National Golden Gloves champion Rashidi Ellis (Central Nouvelle-Angleterre), qui est le Non. 2 rated lightweight in the United States, took a decision against defending N.E. champion Lyndsay Kyajohnian.
Western New England light heavyweight Elivis Figueroa captured his third All-New England crown. His teammate, Hampton Miller (photo ci-dessous), arrêté Sean Gabriel in the second round to win the Rocky Marciano Memorial Award as the Most Outstanding Heavyweight Boxer.
Last night’s open-class winners qualified to be members of Team New England at the National Golden Gloves Championships for men in Lafayette, Louisiane (Mai) et les femmes de Ft. Lauderdale, Floride (Juillet).
.
New England will be sending a strong team to the National Golden Gloves,” Russo added. “We may only have three female boxers going to The Nationals, but each one of them have won national tournaments. Anyone of the male boxers on Team New England could win at The Nationals. I think Elvis (Figueroa), Yarmarco (Guzman) et Josniel (Castro). I will offer the Team New England head coaching position to Luis Rosa from the winning Western New England team. We’ll also be brining Carlos Garcia (veteran coach from Worcester), who will be inducted into the National Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.)
Proceeds from the Lowell Sun Charities Golden Gloves Championship went towards sending the New England Golden Gloves champions to the National Golden Gloves Championship, en plus de soutenir les athlètes locaux et des gymnases de la région, les garçons & Girls club, soupes populaires, refuges pour sans abri, fonds de cancer, bourses d'études et beaucoup d'autres grandes causes caritatives.
