LAS VEGAS (Avril 16, 2016) – Former IBO World welterweight champion Chris “La chaleur” Van Heerden put himself back into title contention position, winning a 10-round majority decision over Steve “Le dragon” Claggett in this evening’s main event, under the neon lights at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center(DLVEC) outdoor venue.

Van Heerden (23-1-1, 12 KOs), fighting out of Santa Monica, California by way of South Africa, used his 3-inch height advantage against Claggett (23-3-1, 16 KOs), the Canadian champion from Calgary, Alberta.
Neither fighter was hurt during the fight, in which there were continual back-and-forth exchanges of stinging combinations. Claggett battled to apply pressure in order to fight on the inside, while Van Heerden fought effectively from the outside.
The two evenly-matched welterweights patiently waited for the official announcement: 95-95 et 97-93 twice for Van Heerden.
“I knew I won this fight, 120-pour cent, but I knew it was close,” Van Heerden commented. “We’re both winners ce soir because of it was so close and we entertained the crowd. Me and Claggett entertained the crowd…..we delivered. I’ve been through so much and the lord helped me get this win. I look forward to a rematch, but I want to move forward.”
Undefeated California junior middleweight Neeco “The Rooster” Macias (12-0, 6 KOs) had a lot to crow about in the 8-round co-feature against Limberth “El Gallito” Maquereau, Jr.(10-3, 8 KOs). Macias thoroughly dominated the action, firing non-stop shots from every conceivable angle. His unrelenting pressure enabled Macias, whose come-forward approach made him an instant fan favorite, to control the fight from start to finish for a unanimous decision.
“I knew he was going to be the toughest fighter I’ve fought,” Macias said. “I give Ponce much respect. We wanted to give fans a good show.”
Baltimore welterweight Malik “Iceman” Hawkins (7-0, 6 KOs) donné Errol “Spyda” Sidney (6-2-2, 2 KOs) a beating, fully displaying his arsenal of punches, hurting his gutsy opponent on several occasions. Hawkins’ aggressive style early in the fight broke-down Sidney, who was nearly finished at the end of the fourth and fifth rounds. Hawkins trapped Sidney a neutral corner at the start of the sixth round and a powerful uppercut sent Sidney down to a knee. Sidney beat referee Jay Nady‘s count but the veteran official had seen enough and he halted the bout 1:02 into the sixth.

Las Vegas’ promising prospect Randy Moreno (2-0, 1 KO) outclassed Oregon junior lightweight Derek Barthemay (0-3) from the opening bell for a 4-round unanimous decision.
Flashy Las Vegas welterweight prospect Jérémie “J-Flash” Nichols (3-0, 2 KOs) constantly pounded the body of his tough Mexican opponent, Jason “Gibbor” Gavino (3-2, 2 KOs), for a 4-round shutout victory,
Las Vegas’ Sal Lopez (2-0) dropped a game Mat “Le KO Kid” Murphy (0-2), a junior lightweight from St. Louis, in the opening round on his way to an impressive one-sided win by way of a unanimous 4-round decision.

LAS VEGAS (Avril 7, 2016) – South African welterweight Chris “La chaleur” Van Heerden is on a mission to torch his Canadian opponent Steve “Le dragon” Claggett, in their 12-round main event, tête d'affiche “Knockout Night at the D”.

I’m expecting a hard fight, nothing easy, and it will be entertaining.”
The 28-year-old Van Heerden moved to Santa Monica two years ago after he wiped out the top South African fighters in his weight class. UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Septembre 15, 2015) – Organisateur Lou DiBella et gestionnaire / promoteur Shelly Finkel mener une de sept membres de la classe 2015 dans le Connecticut boxe Hall of Fame (CBHOF). Les nouveaux intronisés de CBHOF comprend également l'ancien commissaire de la boxe Peter Timothy et, à titre posthume, boxeurs Carey Mace et George Russo, écrivain de boxe Mort Sharnik et la boxe avocat Arnie Bayer.
“Nous, au Connecticut Boxe Hall of Fame sommes très heureux d'annoncer la classe des intronisés de cette année,” nouveau président CBHOF John Laudati dit. “Nous avons un grand mélange de légendes de boxe internationalement reconnues et un groupe merveilleux et les plus méritants de la redevance de boxe du Connecticut. Personnellement, Je suis tellement heureux de vous présenter cette classe dans ma première année en tant que président de cette organisation incroyable. Je suis impatient de voir tous les fans de boxe notre Connecticut au Mohegan Sun sur Novembre 13e.”
Basée à New York City, DiBella (photo à gauche) est l'ancien chef de la boxe pour HBO, la création d'un grand succès “Boxing After Dark” série. Sa société de promotion, DiBella Entertainment, a promu innombrables événements de boxe au Mohegan Sun Arena et Foxwoods Resort Casino au cours des deux dernières décennies. DiBella possédait également l'équipe de baseball des ligues mineures Connecticut Defenders qui était basé à Norwich. Ses meilleurs combattants ont inclus Sergio Martinez,Bernard Hopkins, Paulie Malignaggi, Jermain Taylor, CBHOF intronisé “Irlandais” Micky Ward, et Autres Berto parmi les plus notables. Un diplômé de Harvard Law School, DiBella est également un producteur de film à succès.
Finkel (photo à droite avec le défunt Emanuel Steward), également de New York, est intronisé International Boxing Hall of Fame qui était un appareil au Connecticut se bat depuis de nombreuses années que ce soit un promoteur ou un gestionnaire. Il est également un gestionnaire de succès dans l'industrie de la musique. Dans les années 1990, Finkel était sans doute le plus puissant gestionnaire de la boxe. Ses clients les plus célèbres inclus Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao, Pernell Whitaker, Meldrick Taylor et Wladimir Klitschko.
Timothée (photo à gauche avec Sugar Ray Leonard) était boxe commissaire de la Commission nationale Mashantucket Pequot Tribal à Foxwoods partir 1995 à 2009. Il a été encadré par la fin John Burns, qui était le fondateur de la CBHOF dont il est aussi intronisé. Pendant son mandat à Foxwoods, Timothy réglementés centaines d'événements pro, y compris 90 combat pour le titre. Faits saillants de son règne inclus CBHOF intronisé John Ruiz–Evander Holyfield III pour le championnat WBA des poids lourds et monde, peut-être, le plus grand combat de l'histoire Foxwoods, le monde IBF combat pour le titre cruiserweight entre James Toney et Vassily Jirov. D'autres stars qui ont combattu à Foxwoods Timothée était en charge comprennent Roy Jones, Jr., Diego Corrales, Shane Mosely et Acelino Freitas, avec intronisés CBHOF Dana Rosenblatt, Peter Manfredo, Jr. et nous. Macis (72-18-2), né à Hartford, commencé à se battre professionnelle dans les années 1940. Sa victoire la plus notable est venu en 1950, arrêtant l'ancien champion du monde Joe Giardello. Mace était un membre de CBHOF membre fondateur Willie Pep's stable et a été classé à un moment aussi haut que n. 8 welters dans le monde. Russo avait 85 combats professionnels entre 1922 et 1934. Il a déménagé à Bridgeport quand il avait six et il est finalement devenu une légende locale dans la boxe, gymnases d'exploitation comme Hall de Red Man, Acorn Club et Avenue East Washington. En 1992, il a apporté la boxe de retour après une absence de dix ans pour la construction de PAL Old à Bridgeport. Russo a également été reconnu comme le “Johnny duc de Southern Connecticut.”
Né à New Haven, la fin Sharnick a vécu presque toute sa vie à Norwalk, avant de retourner en Floride, où il a été élu à la Floride Boxe Hall of Fame en 2012, en grande partie pour la fondation de l'Institut intelligente Boxer. Sharnik était un écrivain de boxe pour 23 ans à Sports Illustrated, mis en évidence par sa couverture de Cassius Clay–Sonny Liston je, sauvagement cité pour avoir dit, “Liston a poings comme des boulets de canon.” Il est ensuite devenu le chef consultant chez CBS depuis neuf ans et a été conseiller en chef et le vrai croyant solitaire dans George Foremanla candidature de retour de 'aboutir finalement à un autre titre mondial des poids lourds. Sharnick était aussi un conseiller pour les membres CBHOF et champion du monde deux fois Marlon Starling, persuader le futur champion du monde pour ajouter Eddie Futch comme son entraîneur en chef. Promoteur Sampson Lewkowicz, l'homme crédité de la découverte d'un talent inconnu nommé Manny Pacquiao aux Philippines en 2000, est fière d'annoncer la signature de cousin au second degré de Pacquiao, Jonel “Le Kid Pacquiao” Dapidran à un contrat de promotion à long terme.
17-ans Dapidran (6-0, 3 KOs) est une perspective léger invaincu de Digos City dans les Philippines. Grand-père maternel de Manny Pacquiao et le père de Junel sont frères.
“Un avocat de San Francisco nommé Sydney salle a Manny Pacquiao à mon attention 15 il y a des années,” a déclaré Lewkowicz. “Aucun des principaux promoteurs accordé une attention, mais nous avons vu quel talent il était. Je travaillais comme un entremetteur pour (puis promoteur) Murad Muhammad, et je l'ai convaincu de signer Manny et l'amener à l'Amérique. Maintenant, en tant que promoteur, Je vais faire venir sa famille proche ici pour la première fois et je crois fermement que ce jeune homme va faire une grande déclaration dans notre sport.”
Dapidran est en de bonnes mains. Dès que son visa est finalisé, il va vivre à Las Vegas, partager un bel appartement avec l'ancien multiple champion du monde et son compatriote philippin, Jonriel Casimero. Il partagera également un entraîneur avec Casimero et rejoindre l'écurie de l'entraîneur juin Agrabio.
“Jonel a le talent pour devenir une star. Je le vois en lui comme je l'ai fait avec son cousin. Il vient ici pour prouver à tous qu'il est un Pacquiao pour la nouvelle génération de la boxe.
