REIS RETURNS TO THE RING ESTE SÁBADO No Mohegan Sun
PROVIDÊNCIA, Rhode Island (Junho 26, 2018) – In advance of her fight this Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, three-time world champion Kali “KO Mequinonoag” Reis held an open media workout today at Big Six Academy in Providence, Rhode Island.

 

 

 

Fighting out of nearby Cranston, RI, Reis (13-7-1, 4 KOs) will face former world title challenger Patty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-5, 5 KOs), de México, em um ataque welterweight oito-redonda.

Uncasville, Conn. (jUNE 25, 2018) –With June 30th rapidly approaching, the hype for STAR BOXING’S “SLUGFEST at the SUN” continues to build as two of the premier fighters on the card will be making their New England homecoming. In the co-feature bout, KALI “KO MEQUINONOAG” REIS (13-7-1 4KO) da Providência, Rhode Island will be making her third appearance at Mohegan Sun against PATY “LA ELEGANTE” RAMIREZ (11-5 5KO). Rhode Island’s Native Warrior, Kali Reis, is no stranger to bright lights and pressure. Coming off an impressive performance on HBO against undisputed champion and #1 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world, Cecilia Brækhus, Reis looks to return home, back to New England and put her full warrior spirit out on display at the Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

When commenting on her upcoming fight, Reis had this to say, “Fans can expect to see an even more determined, skilled, faminto, evolving WARRIOR in there! The fight on HBO with Braekhus was such a learning experience and I am grateful for making history in not only women’s boxing but my own personal journey as well.”

 

 

 

The last time Reis fought at Mohegan Sun was in November of last year. She is thrilled to be making this homecoming.

 

 

 

“I am excited to be back ‘home’ at Mohegan Sun June 30th,” said the Rhode Island native. “Star Boxing always has action packed fights lighting up this beautiful area. My fans love coming to Mohegan Sun. There isn’t a bad seat in the house and their hospitality is fantastic. Joe DeGuardia is keeping me very productive since we signed with him back in November. I am so pleased with the decision myself and manager Brian made to sign with them.”

 

 

 

Another local warrior on the card to watch is Anthony Laureano. Laureano earned the nickname “Ação” for his relentless, coming-forward fight style. If the East Hartford native is in the ring, fans can always expect an exciting show from start to finish. Star Boxing’s “Slugfest at the Sun” always brings fireworks to Connecticut, and Laureano looks to continue the tradition with his homecoming at Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

Laureano was asked what he will provide the fans at Mohegan Sun, and his response was simply, “The same thing they always see, ação. Ação, é isso aí. This bout against Rodriguez will mark the third time in his career that Laureano is fighting at Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

When asked about the venue, this is what Laureano had to say, “I love Mohegan…Mohegan is my home. There is no place like it. I love the ring, everything is just so beautiful. Two-division world champion Beibut Shumenov comeback fight for Vacant WBA Cruiserweight World title

ASTANA, Cazaquistão (Maio 10, 2018)) – Dois divisão Associação Mundial de Boxe (WBA) Campeão mundial Shumenov Beibu announced his comeback fight will be held July 7, contra 30-1 Hizni Altunkaya for the vacant WBA Cruiserweight World title, em Astana, Cazaquistão.

Lenin Castillo grabs WBO Gold in Ponce, Puerto Rico

Ponce, Puerto Rico – Former Dominican Olympian Lenin Castillo (18-1-1, 13 KO) won the WBO/NABO vacant light heavyweight title in impressive fashion. Castillo defeated Aaron “Homicide” Mitchell (27-3-1, 21 KO) of Florida by way of technical knockout in the 10th and final round.

 

 

 

 

As a result of the victory, Castillo will now be ranked among the best 175 pound fighters in the WBO.

 

 

 

 

The fight was televised by DIRECTV PR as part of a card promoted by Miguel Cotto Promotions at the Complejo Ferial, Ponce, PR.

 

 

 

 

“I am very grateful to my manager Raúl Pastrana from Spartan Boxing Club, Miguel Cotto Promotions and the WBO for making this fight possible with an important title at stake that will place me among the best fighters of my weight,” disse Castillo, “This victory is for my Dominican people, my dad, my mom and also for the Puerto Ricans who made me feel at home since I arrived on the island for the fight”.

 

 

 

 

“I prepared myself to the max and these are the results of working hard in the gym. Since I landed a good shot at Mitchell, he decided to survive the whole fight and did not let me use everything I had saved for him. Salita Signs Top Light Heavyweight Umar Salamov to Co-Promotional Contract

Dmitriy Salita, of Salita Promotions, proudly announces the signing of world-class light heavyweight contender Umar Salamov to a co-promotional contract, along with KA Promotions.

Salamov (20-1, 15 KOs) hails from Alkhan-Kala, Rússia, but is currently in Detroit training at the legendary Kronk Gym with Javan SugarHill Steward.
“Umar is a tall, rangy light heavyweight with crafty footwork and an arsenal of punches,” said Steward. “Being that Umar is only 23 anos de idade, his natural athleticism and creativity in the ring makes me excited to teach him that Kronk magic, which will make him a force in the strong light heavyweight division.”
“I have relocated my training base to Detroit and look forward to a big year,” said Salamov. “My goal this year is to become a mandatory challenger for a world title in one of the four sanctioning bodies and fight for a world title.”
The 23-year-old slugger has already amassed quite a collection of championships as professional. He is the former IBO Youth and World Light Heavyweight, WBO Youth World, Europeu e internacional, and the IBF East/West Europe Light Heavyweight Champion.
“Umar is one of the best light Heavyweights in the world,” disse Dmitriy Salita. “It’s a division that is packed with lots of very good fighters and big names. I believe Umar has the skills and the experience to be the best. He is only 23 years old and has lots of world-class experience on the elite level in the amateurs and the pros. HUMBERTO “TITO” VELAZCO SCORES SENSATIONAL KNOCKOUT IN EL PASO, TX

AGUASCALIENTES, MX (Fevereiro 19, 2018) – Esse passado Sábado, no Don Haskins Center, em El Paso, TX, açúcar Promoções light-heavyweight prospect, Humberto “Tito” Velazco (19-1-1, 14 KOs), scored the knockout of the night, contra Thomas “Melhor cachorro” Williams Jr. (20-4, 14 KOs).
Velazco, who hails from Aguascalientes, México, rallied from an early first round knockdown, which was more of an off-balance circumstance. Velazco wasn’t hurt and evened the score in the second round with his own knockdown, catching Williams with a short right to the face, a punch he didn’t see coming. Williams survived the round but was walking on wobbly legs. Now in a rhythm, Velazco’s timing was on point as he sent Williams to the deck for the second time in round three, this time hurting him badly with combination of punches. Williams survived once again only to be stopped in round four when Velazco, a heavy-handed southpaw, blasted him with a straight left, forcing the referee to stop the bout at the 1:37 marca.

WORCESTER, Massa. (Janeiro 8, 2018) – Um dos mais populares perspectivas de boxe da Nova Inglaterra, invicto Hartford (CT) meio-pesados Richard “Popeye o marinheiro” Rivera (5-0, 4 KOs), vontade manchete seu terceiro show Sábado noite, Fevereiro 10, no paládio em Worcester, Massachusetts.
Na quinta parcela do “Futuro da Nova Inglaterra” série, apresentado por Rivera Promoções Entretenimento (RPE), a 27-year-old Rivera atenda Kevin “Kray 2 UNKL” Cobbs (10-2, 4 KOs), lutando fora de Burlington (VT), para a vaga Federação Universal Boxing (UBF) título de New England no evento principal oito-redonda.
Rivera, que era um 2016 campeão Rocky Marciano Torneio, está saindo de uma segunda rodada nocaute sensacional de veterano 146-luta Roberto Valenzuela em dezembro passado 9 em Hampton, New Hampshire.
“Estou animado para ter Richie boxe para o título UBF New England tão cedo em sua carreira profissional,”” o referido promotor Jose Antonio Rivera, o retirou-3 hora, 2-divisão campeão mundial. “Esta é a terceira vez que já teve o privilégio de ele lutando em um de nossos cartões. Ele lutou no evento principal do nosso último show (Outubro) no Centro DCU. Rivera parece melhor e mais penetrante cada vez que eu vê-lo lutar. Vejo grandes coisas vindo por ele. Ele tem as ferramentas e disciplina um treinador procura e um boxeador precisa de se tornar campeão do mundo. O céu é o limite para Richard e, por enquanto, nós somos gratos para jogar uma pequena parte para ajudar a desenvolver sua carreira profissional.”
Rivera tem comercializado com sucesso seu persona Popeye durante sua jovem carreira no boxe profissional, vestindo um boné de marinheiro para o ringue com uma oscilação tubo Popeye-like tradicional na boca. “Há várias razões para o meu apelido, ‘Popeye’, mas quando eu era muito jovem,” Rivera explicou, “Eu tinha anormalmente grandes antebraços. Ele só ficou comigo ao longo dos anos, quando as pessoas se referiu a mim no ginásio, então eu correr com ele. No início, Rivera foi um pouco relutante em combater o Cobb mais experiente, mas, depois de fazer alguma pesquisa, ele aceitou o desafio. “Eu estava um pouco nervoso no início,” ele admitiu. “Alguns estavam questionando se eu estava pronto para a etapa até lutar com ele. Eu fiz alguma pesquisa: ele não tem uma carreira amadora maior, ou lutou mais seis ou oito rodadas lutas do que eu. E eu era o parceiro de treino para o primeiro profissional para vencê-lo, Tyron Burris(TKO2 em 2012). Estou pronto! Eu sou 27 e precisa de uma luta como essa.”
