“Zurdo” targets Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol

LAS VEGAS (Março 31, 2021) – Former world super middleweight championGilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (41-0, 27 KOs) is on the hunt and his targets are undefeated Russians, Artur Beterbiev eDmitry Bivol, respectivamente, the reigning WBC/IBF and WBA Super light heavyweight World champions.

The 29-year-old Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, is currently ranked No. 4 e n. 5, respectivamente, by the WBA and WBO.

Ramirez was unimpressed by Beterbiev’s recent fight and he wonders where Bivol has been the past 1 Anos e meio, because he hasn’t been in the ring.

In his first fight in 519 dias (Outubro. 12, 2019), Beterbiev showed signs of rust and possibly age (36) during his 10th round technical knockout of his relatively unknown German opponent, Adam Deines (19-2-1, 10 KOs).  Agora, Beterbiev is talking about next fighting the winner of the April 10th Joe Smith, Jr. (26-3, 21 KOs) contraMaxim Vlasov (45-3, 26 KOs) em abril 10th for the vacant WBO 175-pound division title. Vlasov, incidentalmente, was defeated by Ramirez via a 10-round unanimous decision in 2015.

“I expected a lot more from him (Beterbiev),” Ramirez talked about Beterbiev’s fight with Deines. “I thought he looked flat and dull for the majority of the fight. It’s nice of him to temporarily hold my belts, but he should know that I’m coming for all the hardware and will bring the titles back to my people in Mexico.”

Bivol hasn’t thrown a punch during a fight in 17 meses, since winning a 12-round unanimous decision againstLenin Castillo.  Instead of returning against a “name” fighter in defense of his WBA Super title, Bivol will be returning May 1st in London against somebody namedCraig “Spider” Richards 16-1-1, 9 KOs), the WBA No. 8-rated light heavyweight who has never fought outside the United Kingdom.

“I’ve always said Dmitry Bivol was the toughest challenge out there,” Ramirez added, “which is why I want to make this fight happen. I know he’s got a fight coming up and hopefully he stays undefeated so we can make the mega-fight this summer.”

In the television opener, undefeated junior welterweight “Ação” Anthony Laureano (8-0 3KO) lived up to his nickname, never taking a backwards step, as he pounded Juan Rodriguez (8-10-1 6KO) in the center of the ring from the opening bell through the end for a dominant six-round unanimous decision. O 2016 New England Golden Gloves champion Laureano, who fights out of East Hartford, CT, put on an entertaining show in front of his large, loud contingent of fans. Laureano effectively used every punch in his vast arsenal to break down a tough, game Rodriguez.

 

 

 

“I thought I did well,” Laureano said after the fight, “but I’d like to see more angles. I want to see more power, muito. It’s there, he felt it; it’s coming. I have a long road. Irish junior welterweight “Lethal” Larry Fryers (formerly known as Gleeson) melhorou o seu recorde de 7-1 (2 KOs) with a six-round unanimous decision over Anthony Woods (1-7-1). Fighting out of Yonkers NY, Fryers floored Woods with a left hook at the end of round two. Woods was penalized a point near the end of the final round for an intentional head butt.

 

 

 

Former U. of New Haven basketball star Cassius Chaney (13-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of New London (CT), manteve sua invencibilidade intacta, dropping Mexican heavyweight Elder Hernandez (5-3, 3 KOs) twice before referee Willis halted the match near the end of the opening round.

REIS RETURNS TO THE RING ESTE SÁBADO No Mohegan Sun
PROVIDÊNCIA, Rhode Island (Junho 26, 2018) – In advance of her fight this Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena, three-time world champion Kali “KO Mequinonoag” Reis held an open media workout today at Big Six Academy in Providence, Rhode Island.

 

 

 

Fighting out of nearby Cranston, RI, Reis (13-7-1, 4 KOs) will face former world title challenger Patty “La Elegante” Ramirez (11-5, 5 KOs), de México, em um ataque welterweight oito-redonda.

LAUREANO OF CONNECTICUT RETURNS FOR HIS SECOND BOUT AT MOHEGAN SUN

Uncasville, Conn. (jUNE 25, 2018) –With June 30th rapidly approaching, the hype for STAR BOXING’S “SLUGFEST at the SUN” continues to build as two of the premier fighters on the card will be making their New England homecoming. In the co-feature bout, KALI “KO MEQUINONOAG” REIS (13-7-1 4KO) da Providência, Rhode Island will be making her third appearance at Mohegan Sun against PATY “LA ELEGANTE” RAMIREZ (11-5 5KO). Rhode Island’s Native Warrior, Kali Reis, is no stranger to bright lights and pressure. Coming off an impressive performance on HBO against undisputed champion and #1 pound-for-pound female fighter in the world, Cecilia Brækhus, Reis looks to return home, back to New England and put her full warrior spirit out on display at the Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

When commenting on her upcoming fight, Reis had this to say, “Fans can expect to see an even more determined, skilled, faminto, evolving WARRIOR in there! The fight on HBO with Braekhus was such a learning experience and I am grateful for making history in not only women’s boxing but my own personal journey as well.”

 

 

 

The last time Reis fought at Mohegan Sun was in November of last year. She is thrilled to be making this homecoming.

 

 

 

“I am excited to be back ‘home’ at Mohegan Sun June 30th,” said the Rhode Island native. “Star Boxing always has action packed fights lighting up this beautiful area. My fans love coming to Mohegan Sun. There isn’t a bad seat in the house and their hospitality is fantastic. Joe DeGuardia is keeping me very productive since we signed with him back in November. I am so pleased with the decision myself and manager Brian made to sign with them.”

 

 

 

Another local warrior on the card to watch is Anthony Laureano. Laureano earned the nickname “Ação” for his relentless, coming-forward fight style. If the East Hartford native is in the ring, fans can always expect an exciting show from start to finish. Star Boxing’s “Slugfest at the Sun” always brings fireworks to Connecticut, and Laureano looks to continue the tradition with his homecoming at Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

Laureano was asked what he will provide the fans at Mohegan Sun, and his response was simply, “The same thing they always see, ação. Ação, é isso aí. This bout against Rodriguez will mark the third time in his career that Laureano is fighting at Mohegan Sun.

 

 

 

When asked about the venue, this is what Laureano had to say, “I love Mohegan…Mohegan is my home. There is no place like it. I love the ring, everything is just so beautiful. The atmosphere, the crowd, my hometown crowd is there, and when they’re there it’s loud…Mohegan is my home, sem dúvida. The casino treats me good, and when I go there I feel this is where I belong. UNDERCARD FEATURES SIX UNDEFEATED NEW ENGLAND PROSPECTS

Rivera, que era um 2016 campeão Rocky Marciano Torneio, está saindo de uma segunda rodada nocaute sensacional de veterano 146-luta Roberto Valenzuela em dezembro passado 9 em Hampton, New Hampshire.
“Estou animado para ter Richie boxe para o título UBF New England tão cedo em sua carreira profissional,”” o referido promotor Jose Antonio Rivera, o retirou-3 hora, 2-divisão campeão mundial. “Esta é a terceira vez que já teve o privilégio de ele lutando em um de nossos cartões. Ele tem as ferramentas e disciplina um treinador procura e um boxeador precisa de se tornar campeão do mundo. O céu é o limite para Richard e, por enquanto, nós somos gratos para jogar uma pequena parte para ajudar a desenvolver sua carreira profissional.”
Rivera tem comercializado com sucesso seu persona Popeye durante sua jovem carreira no boxe profissional, vestindo um boné de marinheiro para o ringue com uma oscilação tubo Popeye-like tradicional na boca. “Há várias razões para o meu apelido, ‘Popeye’, mas quando eu era muito jovem,” Rivera explicou, “Eu tinha anormalmente grandes antebraços. Eu fiz alguma pesquisa: ele não tem uma carreira amadora maior, ou lutou mais seis ou oito rodadas lutas do que eu. E eu era o parceiro de treino para o primeiro profissional para vencê-lo, Tyron Burris(TKO2 em 2012). Estou pronto! Eu sou 27 e precisa de uma luta como essa.”

CHICAGO, IL (Março 9, 2017) – After stopping former world champion, Chad Dawson (34-5, 19 KOs), with a stunning tenth-round TKO, WBC #8 light-heavyweight contender, Andrzej Fonfara (29-4, 17 KOs), is welcoming challenges from everyone in the top ten.

The 27-year-old Smith (23-1, 19 KOs) is a Union 66 laborer between fights. The Long Island power-puncher from Mastic burst upon the International boxing scene last June, stopping former world title challenger Andrzej Fonfara (28-4) in the opening round for the World Boxing Council (WBC) International light heavyweight title.
