Son of Sandman Jarel Pemberton added to “Fight Night In Framingham” card

FRAMINGHAM, Massa. (February27, 2020) – The son of Sandman, Jarel “Sandman” Pemberton, returns to the ring for the first time in nearly two years on the “Fight Night In Framingham” card, presented by Shearns Boxing Promotions (SBP), Março 20, at Sheraton Framingham Hotel in Framingham, Massachusetts.

“Fight Night In Framingham”, the first pro boxing event ever in Framingham, is being held for the benefit ofFighting Life, an after-school youth boxing and academic empowerment program, available 100-percent free of charge, to students beginning in elementary school through high school education.

The 28-year-old super middleweight Pemberton (3-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Revere, MA, is the son of one of New England’s all-time favorite boxers, Scott Pemberton (29-5-1, 24 KOs), the former NABF and IBU World super middleweight champion. Pemberton was a blood-and-guts, highly entertaining type fighter best remembered for a pair of Fight of the Year candidates versusOmar Sheika.

Scott named his son, Jarel, after Superman’s father, but he never forced him into boxing. “Me boxing had a lot to do with him,” Jarel said, “but he never pushed me into boxing. I did go to a lot of his fights when I was young.

“Dad saw a Superman movie and named me Jarel after Superman’s father. I think it’s a great name, it kind of shaped my life because I’m a real comic-book nerd today.”

Jarel played football and basketball at Dartmouth (MA) Alto, where two of his teammates went on to play in the National Football League, Jordan Todman and close friendArthur Lynch.  Jarel joined the U.S. Marines and he did two tours in Afghanistan as a machine gunner. He didn’t start boxing until after he was honorably discharged, turning pro at 27.

“I wish I started boxing when I was a kid,” he added, “but I didn’t box until after I got out of the military. People tell me I hit hard; I do have natural power.”

Pemberton, who is on the permanent reserve list to become a Revere Firefighter, is ready to get back in the ring on a regular basis, especially after being out of the ring nearly two years.

“I’m back in boxing for the long run,” he admitted. I’d like to fight a few times in the next few months. I’m getting in top shape for this fight and that’s a lot better than getting beat up in training by (22-0, 14 KOs welterweight from Lynn, MA) Rashidi Ellis.  I’m bigger than him but he’s so fast.”

Pemberton is matched against veteran Texas fighterLarry “Slomoshun” Smith (10-43-1, 7 KOs) em um ataque de 4 rodada.

WORCESTER, Massa. (Agosto 19, 2018) – Seven years after his last fight, “O Gallo” Jose Antonio Rivera returned to the ring in grand fashion last night (Sábado) a manchete “Regresso a casa, presented by Granite Chin Promotions in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment, no paládio em Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

 

The 45-year-old Rivera (42-6-1, 25 KOs), 35 pounds lighter than he was in February when he started training, packed the house in his hometown, fully entertained his supportive fans. Três vezes, two-division world champion Rivera pressured Larry “Slomoshun: Ferreiro (10-38-1, 7 KOs) from the opening bell and he never let up.

 

 

 

It took a few rounds for Rivera to wear off the rust, but he fed Smith a steady diet of body shots, gradually breaking down his opponent, as he won round after round on points. Twice in the sixth round it looked like Smith was done, but the tough Texan showed a lot of heart to survive.

 

 

 

Finalmente, Rivera closed the show in the seventh round, when Smith broke his hand in the fifth round and was unable to continue, kneeling in his corner, obviously in pain.

 

 

 

“I’ve always been tough,” Rivera said after the fight, “but I was a little rusty. He tested me early but, once he saw I wasn’t going anywhere and knew he was in for a fight. I started warming up in the fourth round. I was always a 12-round fighter. I didn’t know he broke his hand until after the fight. Eu me sinto ótimo. The rematch between Worcester junior middleweight Khiary Grey (16-4, 12 KOs) e Antonio Chaves Fernandez (9-34, 4 KOs) ended in the same fashion as their first encounter did three years ago. Also fighting at home for the first time, Gray blasted out his game opponent, cracking him with a picture-perfect, left-fight combination that put Fernandez on his back. Fernandez beat the count, but referee Bob Benoit halted the action.

 

 

Southbridge, MA junior middleweight Wilfredo “o Sucaro” Pagão (5-0, 3 KOs) permaneceu invicto, using a relentless body attack to drop Engelberto “Guarura” Valenzuela (11-15, 3 KOs) três vezes, the last ending the fight midway through the third round.

(Agosto 15, 2018) – Três vezes, dois divisão campeão mundial “O Gallo” Jose Rivera has a new opponent for his comeback fight this Friday night in “Regresso a casa”, apresentado pelo Promoções Granite Chin (GCP) in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), no paládio em Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

 

The 45-year-old Rivera (41-6-1, 24 KOs), who was matched against Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan, didn’t find out until yesterday (Terça-feira) that Galvan had broken a finger the night before. Texas veteran Larry “Slomoshun” Ferreiro (10-37-1, 7 KOs) is the late replacement for Rivera in the eight-round main event.

 

 

 

“I am not a fan of late changes,” Rivera disse, “but at this point it’s either that or no fight, and I’ve trained too hard not to fight.”

 

 

 

Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

 

 

 

The name of the event is “Regresso a casa” because five fighters in action are from Worcester, including three who’ve never fought there before as professionals.

 

 

 

Super peso médio Bola Kendrick, Jr. (9-1-2, 6 KOs) and junior middleweight Khiary Grey(15-4, 11 KOs), both promoted by CES Boxing, will be fighting at home in Worcester as pros for the first time in a pair of six-round bouts. Ball faces Mexican Fabian “El Lobo” Valdez (2-3) no evento co-destaque, while Gray (15-4, 11 KOs) rostos Antonio Chaves Fernandez (9-33, 4 KOs), of Brockton, MA, in a rematch of a fight won by Gray.

QUINCY, Massa. (Abril 2, 2018) — This Saturday night’s “Fight Night at The Zone”, apresentado pelo Promoções Granite Chin, has been strengthened by the late addition of hot prospect Irvin Gonzalez to a card already showcasing some of the best young, professional boxers in New England.

 

 

 

Granite Chin Promotions is on a mission to establish a fan-base in the Granite State, providing a fan friendly, full entertainment experience at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.

 

 

 

Gonzalez (8-0, 7 KOs), fighting out of Worcester, MA, era um 2015 New England Ouro campeão Luvas, who qualified for the 2016 Olimpíadas. The 21-year-old featherweight prospect will face Mexican Francisco “O macaco” Medal (12-12, 8 KOs) em um ataque de seis rodada.

 

 

 

Gonzalez, who hasn’t fought since December 1 1 (sensational third-round knockout of previously undefeated 13-0 Marlon Olea in Providence), was supposed to fight St. Dia de Patrick em Boston, but he was informed the day of the weigh in that his opponent hadn’t cleared medicals.

 

 

 

I’m always in the gym working hard because I like to stay busy and be ready,” Gonzalez disse. “No layoffs for me. I’ve been sparring 3-4 times a week to polish my craft. Estou sempre preparado. I was disappointed a few weeks ago, but I’m fighting on this card, and back on the right track.

QUINCY, Massa. (Julho 6, 2017) — Many of New England’s best and most popular professional boxers will be showcased Sábado noite, Agosto 5, no “Fight Night at the Bay” cartão, apresentado pelo Promoções Granite Chin, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
O ex-N.E. campeão dos médios Derek Silveira (12-1, 6 KOs), lutando fora de Salem (MA), will headline against an opponent to be determined in the eight-round main event.
Na co-metragem de oito rodada, cidade natal favorito Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 KOs) e Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 KOs), de Shelton (CT), square off for the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship. Traietti, fighting at home in Quincy, is also the co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”. Um ex-Conselho Mundial de Boxe (WBC) United States cruiserweight titlist, Traietti is a college graduate who did one tour of duty in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Força Aérea.
Three-time world title challenger, welterweight Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO) will be in action versus former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 KOs) in an eight-round Special Female Welterweight Attraction. The popular Lopes is a native of Poland who lives in Marshfield (MA), Garland hails from York, Carolina Do Sul.
“Granite Chin Promotions is turning it up a notch for our Agosto 5th evento,” co-promoter Chuck Shearns dito. “We are keeping promising, well-known young fighters busy. They’re fighting in front of their hometown fans, in some good scraps that promises to be an entertaining show. By the time the night is over, I expect we will have had a few surprises. Tickets are priced reasonably for this family-friendly venue on the beautiful South Shore.”
Unbeaten Brooklyn middleweight Carlos Gongora (8-0, 7 KOs) faces battle-tested Texan Larry “Slow Motion” Ferreiro (10-33-1, 7 KOs) em uma luta de seis rodada.
