Son of Sandman Jarel Pemberton added to “Fight Night In Framingham” card

FRAMINGHAM, Masa. (February27, 2020) – The son of Sandman, Jarel “Sandman” Pemberton, returns to the ring for the first time in nearly two years on the “Fight Night In Framingham” card, presented by Shearns Boxing Promotions (SBP), Gājiens 20, at Sheraton Framingham Hotel in Framingham, Massachusetts.

“Fight Night In Framingham”, the first pro boxing event ever in Framingham, is being held for the benefit ofFighting Life, an after-school youth boxing and academic empowerment program, available 100-percent free of charge, to students beginning in elementary school through high school education.

The 28-year-old super middleweight Pemberton (3-0, 1 KO), fighting out of Revere, MA, is the son of one of New England’s all-time favorite boxers, Scott Pemberton (29-5-1, 24 Kos), the former NABF and IBU World super middleweight champion. Pemberton was a blood-and-guts, highly entertaining type fighter best remembered for a pair of Fight of the Year candidates versusOmar Sheika.

Scott named his son, Jarel, after Superman’s father, but he never forced him into boxing. “Me boxing had a lot to do with him,” Jarel said, “but he never pushed me into boxing. I did go to a lot of his fights when I was young.

“Dad saw a Superman movie and named me Jarel after Superman’s father. I think it’s a great name, it kind of shaped my life because I’m a real comic-book nerd today.”

Jarel played football and basketball at Dartmouth (MA) Augsts, where two of his teammates went on to play in the National Football League, Jordan Todman and close friendArthur Lynch.  Jarel joined the U.S. Marines and he did two tours in Afghanistan as a machine gunner. He didn’t start boxing until after he was honorably discharged, turning pro at 27.

“I wish I started boxing when I was a kid,” he added, “but I didn’t box until after I got out of the military. People tell me I hit hard; I do have natural power.”

Pemberton, who is on the permanent reserve list to become a Revere Firefighter, is ready to get back in the ring on a regular basis, especially after being out of the ring nearly two years.

“I’m back in boxing for the long run,” he admitted. I’d like to fight a few times in the next few months. I’m getting in top shape for this fight and that’s a lot better than getting beat up in training by (22-0, 14 KOs welterweight from Lynn, MA) Rashidi Ellis.  I’m bigger than him but he’s so fast.”

Pemberton is matched against veteran Texas fighterLarry “Slomoshun” Smith (10-43-1, 7 Kos) ar 4 kārtu cīkstēšanās.

(Augusts 19, 2018) – Seven years after his last fight, “Gallo” Jose Antonio Rivera returned to the ring in grand fashion last night (Sestdiena) ar virsrakstu “Homecoming, presented by Granite Chin Promotions in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment, The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

 

The 45-year-old Rivera (42-6-1, 25 Kos), 35 pounds lighter than he was in February when he started training, packed the house in his hometown, fully entertained his supportive fans. Trīs laika, two-division world champion Rivera pressured Larry “Slomoshun: Stiprs sitiens (10-38-1, 7 Kos) from the opening bell and he never let up.

 

 

 

It took a few rounds for Rivera to wear off the rust, but he fed Smith a steady diet of body shots, gradually breaking down his opponent, as he won round after round on points. Twice in the sixth round it looked like Smith was done, but the tough Texan showed a lot of heart to survive.

 

 

 

Beidzot, Rivera closed the show in the seventh round, when Smith broke his hand in the fifth round and was unable to continue, kneeling in his corner, obviously in pain.

 

 

 

“I’ve always been tough,” Rivera said after the fight, “but I was a little rusty. He tested me early but, once he saw I wasn’t going anywhere and knew he was in for a fight. I started warming up in the fourth round. I was always a 12-round fighter. I didn’t know he broke his hand until after the fight. Es jūtos lieliski. (Augusts 15, 2018) – Trīs laika, Divu nodaļa pasaules čempions “Gallo” Jose Rivera has a new opponent for his comeback fight this Friday night in “Homecoming”, presented by Granite Chin Promotions (GCP) in association with Rivera Promotions Entertainment (RPE), The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

 

 

 

The 45-year-old Rivera (41-6-1, 24 Kos), who was matched against Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan, didn’t find out until yesterday (Otrdiena) that Galvan had broken a finger the night before. Texas veteran Larry “Slomoshun” Stiprs sitiens (10-37-1, 7 Kos) is the late replacement for Rivera in the eight-round main event.

 

 

 

“I am not a fan of late changes,” Rivera said, “but at this point it’s either that or no fight, and I’ve trained too hard not to fight.”

 

 

 

Rivera last fought in 2011, taking an eight-round decision over Paul Mpendo, at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut.

 

 

 

The name of the event is “Homecoming” because five fighters in action are from Worcester, including three who’ve never fought there before as professionals.

 

 

 

Super middleweight Kendrick Ball, Jr. (9-1-2, 6 Kos) un junioru vidējais svars Khiary Grey(15-4, 11 Kos), both promoted by CES Boxing, will be fighting at home in Worcester as pros for the first time in a pair of six-round bouts. QUINCY, Masa. (Aprīlis 2, 2018) — This Saturday night’s “Fight Night at The Zone”, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, has been strengthened by the late addition of hot prospect Irvin Gonzalez to a card already showcasing some of the best young, professional boxers in New England.

 

 

 

Granite Chin Promotions is on a mission to establish a fan-base in the Granite State, providing a fan friendly, full entertainment experience at The Sports Zone in Derry, New Hampshire.

 

 

 

Gonzalez (8-0, 7 Kos), fighting out of Worcester, MA, bija 2015 New England Golden Cimdi čempions, who qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials. The 21-year-old featherweight prospect will face Mexican Francisco “El Mono” Medal (12-12, 8 Kos) ar sešu kārtu cīkstēšanās.

QUINCY, Masa. (Jūlijs 6, 2017) — Many of New England’s best and most popular professional boxers will be showcased Sestdiena nakts, Augusts 5, uz “Fight Night at the Bay” karte, presented by Granite Chin Promotions, at Marina Bay Sportplex in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Former N.E. papildsvars čempions Derek Silveira (12-1, 6 Kos), fighting out of Salem (MA), will headline against an opponent to be determined in the eight-round main event.
Jo astoņu apaļā sadarbības funkciju, dzimtajā favorīts Chris Traietti (23-4, 19 Kos) un Nick Lavin (4-5, 4 Kos), of Shelton (CT), square off for the vacant New England Cruiserweight Championship. Traietti, fighting at home in Quincy, is also the co-promoter of “Fight Night at the Bay”. A former World Boxing Council (WBC) United States cruiserweight titlist, Traietti is a college graduate who did one tour of duty in Iraq while serving in the U.S. Gaisa kara flote.
Three-time world title challenger, papildsvars Aleksandra Lopes (17-4-2, 1 KO) will be in action versus former world super lightweight champion Lisa Garland (15-7-1, 8 Kos) in an eight-round Special Female Welterweight Attraction. The popular Lopes is a native of Poland who lives in Marshfield (MA), Garland hails from York, South Carolina.
“Granite Chin Promotions is turning it up a notch for our Augusts 5th notikums,” co-promoter Chuck Shearns teica. “We are keeping promising, well-known young fighters busy. They’re fighting in front of their hometown fans, in some good scraps that promises to be an entertaining show. By the time the night is over, I expect we will have had a few surprises. Tickets are priced reasonably for this family-friendly venue on the beautiful South Shore.”
Unbeaten Brooklyn middleweight Carlos Gongora (8-0, 7 Kos) faces battle-tested Texan Larry “Slow Motion” Stiprs sitiens (10-33-1, 7 Kos) in a six-round fight.
