BRISCOE AWARDS SET FOR THIS SUNDAY

PHILADELPHIA – Everything is set for the 11th Annual Briscoe Awards, gehou word hierdie Sondag middag, Maart 25, 2018, 1-4 PM, by die VBA Clubhouse in Philadelphia. “2017 was a memorable year for our local boxing scene, and it will be great to bring everyone together to celebrate it,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “Our event is really just a party – food, drinks, and a coming together of everyone who loves this sport. It’s always great to see the mix of people that come to the Briscoe Awards. The highlight however, is throwing the spotlight on the fighters who worked so hard to entertain all of us fans. It’s always a good day and a fun time.”
Attending the Briscoe Awards this year will be big winner TYRONE BRUNSON, who will receive three awards – vir “Fighter”, “Stryd”, en “Performance of the Year”, AVERY SPARROW, both the “Vooruitsig van die Jaar” en die “Breakout Fighter of 2017”, JARON ENNIS, named “The One to Watch”, DYLAN PRICE, die “Rookie van die Jaar”, MARCEL RIVERS, who scored the “Uitklophou van die Jaar”, RAYMOND FORD, die “Amateur of the Year”, en JEROME CONQUEST, who will receive the “Everett Brothers Award”.

PHILADELPHIA – After ten years of celebrating the biggest and best achievements of the Philadelphia-area boxing scene, the Briscoe Awards will change the timing of their annual event, from October to March.
“For a few years now, I’ve considered moving the awards up to the first part of the year,” said John DiSanto, founder of the Briscoe Awards. “The original Fall time slot caused a lot of confusion, because by the time we gave out the awards, the fights were old news. Moving to March will allow us to give out the awards shortly after the fight year ends. I’m a little nervous about making a change, but in the long run, the move will only make the Briscoe Awards better.”
The Briscoe Awards honor the key fights and fighters of the Philly area every year. A total of eleven awards will be give out HIERDIE SUNDAY MARCH 25TH AT 1 PM ET, which includes prizes for the “Philly stryd van die Jaar”, die “Philly stryd van die Jaar”, die “Uitklophou van die Jaar”, “Amateur of the Year”, “Rookie van die Jaar”, “Vooruitsig van die Jaar”, “Performance of the Year”, “Photo of the Year”, en meer.
The fighters being honored this year include Tyrone Brunson, Jaron Ennis, Kermit CINTRON, Dylan Price, Avery Sparrow, Marcel Rivers, Raymond Ford, Jerome Conquest, and others.

The bout was entertaining as the two landed good shots on each other. Bunting was cut over his right eye from a punch in round two. Mansfield was deducted a point in round four as his mouthpiece came out several times.
Mansfield ended the fight in round five when he landed a hard combination that had Bunting in trouble on the ropes. Several hard an unanswered punches later, the fight was stopped at 36 sekondes.
Mansfield, 162.4 lbs of Burington, NC is 6-1-1 met vier uitklophoue. Bunting, 163 lbs of Asbury Park, NJ is 3-3-2.
Michael en koffie won a four-round unanimous decision over tough Nicoy Clarke in a heavyweight bout.

Juan Sanchez stopped Sergio Aguilar in the final scheduled round of the their four round featherweight bout.
Sanchez scored knockdowns in round one, two in round two, and finished the show with a hard left that sent Aguilar down and out with just five seconds remaining in the bout.
Sanchez, 125.5 lbs of Allentown, PA is 5-0 met twee uitklophoue. Aguilar, 123 lbs of Homestead, FL is 2-7.
Kendall Cannida made a successful pro debut with a four-round unanimous decision over Leroy Jones in a cruiserweight bout.
Cannida, 175.1 lbs of Philadelphia won on all cards by 40-36 tellings. Jones, 174.5 pond Newark, NJ is 2-2.
Martino Jules won a four-round unanimous decision over Malik Loften in a battle of previously undefeated featherweight’s.

Fight of the Year candidate between Kermit Cintron and Tyrone Brunson to have at least four airings in the coming weeks

Philadelphia, PA (Julie 13, 2017) – The scintillating Pennsylvania Junior Middleweight championship bout that took place on June 24th between former two-time world champion Kermit CINTRON en uitklophou kunstenaar Tyrone Brunson will have at least four airings in Philadelphia area in the coming weeks.

Philadelphia, PA (Junie 25 2017) -In a fight that exceeded it’s high expectations, Tyrone Brunson came back from two 4th round knockdowns to come back in the very next round to send former two-time world champion Kermit Cintron to the canvas three times, and win the Pennsylvania State Junior Middleweight title via 5th round stoppage at the 2300 Arena in Suid-Philadelphia.
The spectacular card was promoted by King’s Promotions.
“This was a tremendous fight, and all-around great card. Some fight’s and cards don’t live up to the expectations, but the main was one of the great fights of this year. I am proud of all the fighters who competed vanaand, as they all brought their best, and it showed in quality of the fights,”said King’s Promotions CEO, Marshall Kauffman.
The fight was nip and tuck for the first three-plus rounds, as Cintron looked very sharp early as he landed some hard right hands in the opening frame. Brunson came back and had a strong round two. The fight was fought on event terms until round four, when Cintron
dropped Brunson with a perfectly timed left hand. Later in the round, Brunson went down from an accumulation of punches on the ropes, and as the fourth round was finished, Brunson seemed just about done as well.
Brunson miraculously came back in round five and turned the tables on the former champ, as he landed a beautiful left that sent Cintron to the canvas. Cintron, was hurt and theprodigious puncher, Brunson was ready to finish off Cintron. Cintron never regained his legs and was sent to the canvas two more times, and referee Shawn Clark waved off the bout at1:21.
Brunson is now 25-6-2 met 23 uitklophoue. CINTRON van Reading, PA falls to 39-6-3.

In the co-Feature, Victor Vazquez won a six-round unanimous decision over Anthony Burgin in a super lightweight bout.

Vazquez dropped Burgin in round two from body, and he took the hotly contested battle by scores of 58-55 twee keer en 57-56. Vazquez of Yonkers, NY is now 8-3. Burgin of Philadelphia is now 10-4.

Steven Ortiz registered two knockdowns en-route to a thrilling six-round unanimous decision over Tyrome Jones in a battle of previously undefeated lightweights.
Ortiz scored knockdowns in rounds three and four in a bout where both guys landed some effective blows.
Ortiz of Philadelphia won by scores of 59-53 twee keer en 57-56 to remain perfect at 7-0. Jones of South Bend, IN is now 4-1.
Jerome Conquest won a six-round decision over Jae Ho Kim in a lightweight bout.
Conquest was dropped with a left hook at the end of round three, but he controlled the action, and won by scores of 59-55, 58-55, en 57-56, en is nou 8-2. Kim of Philadelphia via South Korea is now 6-4-1.
Brandon Robinson dominated and took out Rafael Valencia at 2:48 of round two of their scheduled four round super middleweight bout.
Robinson landed a hard right that sent Valencia to the canvas. Valencia got up, but deemed unable to continue at 2:48.
Robinson of Philadelphia is 4-1 met drie uitklophoue. Valencia of Medford, OR is 3-8-1.
Gregory Clark won a six-round unanimous decision over Daryl Bunting in a super middleweight bout.
