Here is what the fighters had to say Thursday from Toyota Arena:

TONY HARRISON

I’m hungrier now because of the layoff since the first fight. It hasn’t affected my mindset for one moment. Sparring has been intense for me. That’s where I got the rust off. I was pushed every day with guys trying to knock me out, just like he’s going to try to do.

Nothing about me is fake. Everything I say, I do it. It comes from my heart. The beef between us is real when it comes to my eyes. I don’t like anything about him. The tables turned after what he did right after the first fight. I’m a humble beast and he woke me up.

I trained in Florida because I needed to be hungry again. I made the changes for me. I was out a year and I had to get mentally correct. Hy het my wakker gemaak.

Ek is gelukkig. Ek gee nie om oor wat hy en sy span vir hom sê nie. Ek hoef niks anders te doen nie.

“Hy het 12 rondes en het my nooit geruk nie, het my nooit gestruikel nie. Hy het my alles gegee wat hy het. Dieselfde Jermell wat jy in elke geveg gesien het, is dieselfde as wat jy Saterdag sal sien.

“Ons is weer hier en weereens gaan ek presies na wat ek moet doen. Dit is wat aan hom gedoen moet word. Ek is mal oor alles hieroor. Ek hou van alles oor die praat, die heen en weer, en al die geraas.

“Jermell het Jorge Cota uitgeslaan, so hy is weer regs bo? Ek gaan hom weer verneder, dit is my werk. Ek gaan hom van sy pyn verlig. Hy tree op asof hy die sterkste ou in die wêreld is, maar hy is teen 'n dier.

“Ek moet net myself wees en weer wen. Hy kan nie iemand hanteer wat homself is nie. Ek raas hom elke vyf sekondes. Ek moet net die gooi 1-2 daarvan af en ons is goed.”

JERMELL Charlo

“Hy praat baie maar hy moet my Saterdagaand sien. Jy gaan dieselfde ding kry wat ek vir Jorge Cota gegee het. Hy het my net meer tyd gegee om in Junie uit die geveg te kom. Ek is baie sterker, nou baie beter en baie vinniger.

“Ek is 'n vegter wat leef en leer. Ek weet hoe om te vorder. Dis reg vir my, want ek verstaan hoe om af te gaan en terug te kom. When I come back, I come back way harder. They made the true champ come out of me.

They know he’s not on my level. They know what I possess and what I do. Him not liking me has nothing to do with what I’m going to do Saturday.

Nothing he’s said has gotten under my skin. It’s unbelievable to think that you could get inside another man’s head who gets in the ring and puts it all on the line for this.

He will get what he deserves. I’m a man of my word and everyone knows what I do. I’m ‘Mr. Keep Running Your Mouth.’ Dit is wat ek doen.

I want to knock him out and I’m going to knock him out. I’m going to set up the right shots. I’m going to set up what he’s not going to see.

Hy is almal hype.

Iago KILADZE

In die einde, my talent gaan vanself spreek. Ons kan hier bo sê wat ons wil, maar my talent sal vanself spreek.”

RENE TELLEZ GIRON

“Die enigste verlies wat ek gehad het, was 'n geveg wat ek glo ek gewen het, maar jy leer altyd uit 'n geveg. Balderas is 'n goeie vegter en ek respekteer hom, maar hy is in vir 'n oorlog.

“Ek was oral in taai gevegte so ek weet hoe dit Saterdag gaan wees. Hy is vinnig in die ring en ek het video oor hom gekyk, maar dit is niks wat ek nie sal kan oorkom nie.

“Ek weet wat hy kan doen en ek weet dat ek alles het wat ek nodig het om hierdie oorwinning te behaal. Ek gaan hierdie geleentheid benut en ek weet dat ons Saterdag die show gaan steel.”

James takes on the experienced and durable former champion DeMarco in his fourth-straight appearance at The Armory in his hometown. He will look to cement his status in the PBC within the most talent-rich division in boxing.

Kaartjies vir die geleentheid, which is promoted by Warriors Boxing and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and can be purchased at the Armory athttp://ArmoryMN.com/ and through Ticketmaster.

One of the staples of boxing at The Armory, Jamal James is ready to make another statement in the welterweight division against the very tough former champion Antonio DeMarco,” said Tom Brown, President van TGB Promotions. “His fourth straight fight at The Armory will give James a chance to thrill his hometown fans once again, as PBC presents another night of action for the fans in Minnesota. With these two fightersstyles, plus a loaded undercard of exciting fights, this should make for a great night at the venue and live on FS1.

James (25-1, 12 Uitklophoue) has become a local favorite and most recently thrilled the Armory crowd in February with a stoppage victory over Janer Gonzalez on FS1. The 30-year-old has rolled off five consecutive victories since suffering the first loss of his careera unanimous decision loss to Yordenis Ugás in 2016. James has compiled three knockouts in his current win streak while defeating the likes of Diego Chaves, Abel Ramos and Jo Jo Dan.

I love being able to fight at home at The Armory, especially against a fighter like Antonio DeMarco,” said James. “DeMarco has the skills and it is going to be a good step up and test for me. We have been chasing this title for the past year. Getting past DeMarco is the way to get there and that’s what I am going to do.

Minnesota fans are a different type of fans. They come out and show support. Having a place like the Armory to fight is a dream come true. There isn’t a bad seat when it comes to fights. We sell the place out in the winter, and now getting to fight in July, I know it is definitely going to be jam-packed.

A former lightweight world champion, DeMarco (33-7-1, 24 Uitklophoue) owns victories over Jorge Linares and John Molina Jr. in a career that has seen him face a cavalcade of champions and top contenders. Representing Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexiko, DeMarco has gone the distance in every fight except against multiple-division champions Adrien Broner and Edwin Valero, en in 2017 he knocked out then-unbeaten Eddie Ramirez on FOX in the first round. Last October he went the distance and lost a close decision to unbeaten Maxim Dadashev.

Here I come again!” gesê DeMarco. “I am going to win this fight and upset Jamal James in his hometown. I have the experience to get the victory and I’m going to use it to make this a great fight on July 13.

Currently riding a three-fight winning streak, Helenius (28-2, 17 Uitklophoue) sal sy U.S maak. debuut op Julie 13 after establishing himself as one of Europe’s top heavyweights for several years. Born in Sweden and fighting out of Mariehamn, Finland, Helenius knocked out Erkan Teper in September to earn his place in the IBF rankings. The 35-year-old has won six of his last seven fights.

Washington (19-3-1, 12 Uitklophoue) is a 6-foot-6 heavyweight who was a former college football standout at the University of Southern California and a U.S. Navy veteran. Fighting out of Vallejo, Kalifornië, Washington challenged heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder in 2017 op FOX. He scored a unanimous decision victory over John Wesley Nofire in 2018 on FS1 before losing to Adam Kownacki on FOX in January.

in 'n 10-ronde swaargewig kragmeting in die mede-funksie (8-0, 7 Uitklophoue) knocked out Luis May in April on FS1 as he continues to progress up the lightweight ladder. The 23-year-old from Santa Maria, Kalifornië, was 'n lid van die 2016 U.S. Olympic boxing team and scored three stoppage victories in 2018. He will be opposed by the 23-year-old Hernandez (9-2, 7 Uitklophoue), who most recently defeated previously unbeaten Desmond Lyons in May. The Chicago-native bounced back from a loss to unbeaten Chris Colbert in January on FS1.

Live.

Here is what the press conference participants had to say Thursday from the Conga Room:

LEO SANTA CRUZ

We were getting ready for Miguel Flores, but in the gym you have to always be ready for any kind of style. We had been already been working with sparring partners who brawl, and that’s what we expect from Rafael Rivera.

I knew immediately that Rivera was a good opponent. He’s young and hungry and that makes him dangerous. He can take punches, so we’re ready for 12 rondes. We’re going to be smart in this fight because we know what Rivera can do.

Seeing my dad going through cancer treatment has been very tough. He motivates me to go to the gym and train hard, because I know if he sees me working hard, it will motivate him as well.

I’m just looking to go out there, give a great fight and help my name continue to grow so that I can fight the best.

I love fighting and training here in Los Angeles. It gives me a chance to be with my family more. When I have them here, it makes me train harder. I do all of this for them and their future.

If I can get this win, we want to unify the belts or make the third fight against Carl Frampton. Indien nie, we will go to 130 pounds and seek a title in a new weight class.

RAFAEL RIVERA

I’ve stepped in late before to a big fight. I’m always ready when it comes. Expect a surprise come Saturday night.

I know that I have everything it takes to bring this title back to Tijuana. We’ve trained hard and had these last four weeks to focus in on breaking Leo down.

I’m prepared for anything Leo brings into the ring. Everyone knows he’s very tough and throws a lot of punches, but I believe I am the faster fighter and I can hurt him with counters.

This is the best opportunity I’ve had, going up against a great champion like Leo. I’m ready for fight and a great show for the fans.

OMAR FIGUEROA

Given our styles, there’s no way this is going to go the distance. I think this is going to be an early night and I’m planning on having my hand raised.

The layoff didn’t affect me against Robert Guerrero, so I don’t see why it will affect me now. That’s why I keep my style consistent. The only difference is the character across from me in the ring. This fight will depend on how John wants it to go, because I’m coming to fight.

I’m just looking to get in the ring and take advantage of this opportunity I’ve been given. I’ve made changes that have made my whole game so much easier. It’s a totally different mentality that I have now.

“Oefenkamp het groot. I’ve made a lot of changes in my lifestyle and I’m dedicated 100 percent to boxing. Things have never been better.

JOHN MOLINA JR.

“Dit is tyd om te veg. The hard work is done and the time is now. Talk is cheap. Saterdagaand, we’ll get down.

I’ve been down this road before. I was never given lofty expectations. There’s no pressure here. I think Omar’s style will accommodate mine and make it a fun fight for the fans.

Whenever I fight, it’s going to be exciting. You can say the same thing about Omar. I’m prepared for any version of Omar. Just like any other fight. I can’t wait until Saturday night to get in there and do what I do best.

I’ve put everything into this camp, like I’m sure my opponent has. That’s what we owe to the fans and it’s going to come to fruition Saturday night.

SEBASTIAN FUNDORA

I expect a good fight. He’s an undefeated fighter and I hope to give the fans a great show and walk away victorious.

We’re totally focused on this fight. I just train and everything else is out of the way. I trained hard and I’m going to do my thing like always.

I’m still growing as a fighter. We’re getting better with every camp and every fight. It’s good that we keep fighting quality opponents, because it helps accelerate that process.

Hopefully we’re going to display a lot more boxing and technique in this fight. I think Marshall is going to come inside and attack the body. I think if I’m able to stop him, it will be from the boxing skills that I show.

DONNIE MARSHALL

I’m ready to dominate the fight like I always do. That’s the only thing on my mind. I don’t care about his height, record or anything else. I’m coming to dominate.

I’ve never been concerned with the height of Fundora. We sparred with some good strong southpaws in Florida including Yamaguchi Falcao. Then we went to Las Vegas for the second half of training camp and worked with some top prospects. I’m more than prepared for anything.

Every fight is a make or break fight. I’ve trained against top fighters and been all around the country in different gyms. I’ve only been pro two and a half years. Ek is 'n jong 30. I’m going to announce myself on Saturday in a big way.

RICHARD SCHAEFER, Chairman and CEO of Ringstar Sports

This weekend is another example why Los Angeles is such a great fight town. We’re going to have a fantastic crowd at Microsoft Theater at L.A. Live on Saturday night. I think that speaks to the strength of this city as a boxing town, and the strength of this card. This is top to bottom one of the best cards I can remember here in Los Angeles.

The tripleheader on FOX and FOX Deportes has three fights that want to steal the night. We will see which fight and which fighter everyone will be talking about after Saturday. There are definitely some fights on this card that have ‘Fight of the Yearwritten all over them.

We are committed to continuing to bring the best and biggest fights to the fans here in Los Angeles, because Los Angeles is the fight capital of the world again.

I love to face the best fighters out there. Leo is a fighter who throws a lot of punches. We’ve seen it and we’ve studied it. But I don’t think he’s very fast. I’m faster than he is and I have to take advantage of that. I have to counter him when he comes in and do my job.

OMAR FIGUEROA

I’m looking to come back strong against Molina. My style is always to go in there for the knockout and give the fans a great show. The sooner we get him out of there, hoe beter.

We know that John Molina is a tough fighter. He’s been in there with some of the best in the world and he’s given them problems. We expect him to bring a great fight.

We’ve seen Molina box before and make things difficult for certain fighters. I’m going to try to make the fight my style of fight and we’ll see if he obliges. Once he feels the power, he might choose to box.

I don’t think this goes past six rounds. I’m confident about that. We’re going to be ready for anything Molina brings.

I’ve been doing a lot of healing physically, verstandelik en geestelik. I’m looking to show on Saturday that I’ve got everything together.

JOHN MOLINA JR.

I feel excited and confident. Maybe overconfident, but I am ready. We did our job in the gym and now we are ready for the fight.

I have to expect the best version of Omar Figueroa. He is a smart kid. I don’t know if he is trying to entice me into a war right away. I don’t know what his game plan is, but we will find out on Saturday.

Fans need to tune in on FOX and FOX Deportes February 16. This is going to be a war and I believe we’re going to steal the show.

This isn’t my first go around against a Joel Diaz-trained fighter. I did it before with Ruslan Provodnikov and now it is my job to beat Figueroa.

I am not affected by being considered the underdog. Every one of my fights, fans make money. I think Provodnikov I was 11-1. When you become a veteran in the sport, you stop worrying about stuff like that. Talk is cheap.

There is a lot at stake for me. I don’t feel pressure, but there is a lot at stake. Every fight of my career I have something to prove and Saturday is no different.

DONNIE MARSHALL

This is my first big opportunity and I’m ready to take full advantage. I’m going to show everybody where I’m at.

I’m going to take it as it comes in the ring. We have a game plan, but I’m a creator in the ring. I create on the go. I’ll fit in where I can and go with the flow of the fight.

The only challenge I see is his height. He’s obviously very tall at six-foot seven-inches. We know what we have to do to break him down. I don’t even really see the height as a challenge, because I spar with heavyweights all the time.

“Ek is 10-0, but I only started boxing when I was 20, oor 10 jaar gelede. I don’t have the time like young prospects who want to play around, I want to fight any and everybody I can right now.

Dit is 'n goeie toets vir my en 'n goeie teenstander wat my sal laat gebruik waaraan ons gewerk het in opleiding.

I feel excited and anxious to get back in the ring. I’m ready physically and mentally. I know that my opponent won’t be ready for the heat I’m going to throw at him.

This year I’m looking to be busy. I want to be back in the ring in April if everything goes well on Saturday. After this fight I’m going to move to Los Angeles and add trainer Roberto Alcazar to my team. He’s had a lot of experience in big fights and I think he’s going to be a great help. I can really understand clearly what he’s trying to teach me.

I’m going to show everyone that I’m the real deal once again. I’m going to prove why these fighters can’t make it through a fight with me. This year is all business for me.

LOS ANGELES (Februarie 5, 2019) – WBA veertje wêreldkampioen Leo Santa Cruz, one of Los Angelesmost popular boxing stars, hosted a media workout at Fortune Gym in Hollywood Tuesday as he nears his primetime showdown againstRafael Rivera that headlines Premier Boxing Champions on FOX and FOX Deportes Saturday, Februarie 16 at Microsoft Theater at L.A. Woon in Los Angeles.

Santa Cruz, who was joined by his father and trainer Jose Santa Cruz, showed off the skills that have made him a can’t-miss attraction. Santa Cruz was originally scheduled to face Miguel Flores, but he was replaced by Rivera after Flores suffered an injury in training.

Here is what the workout participants had to say Tuesday in Hollywood:

LEO SANTA CRUZ

We kept our training camp going despite the change of opponent. We always train the same no matter who the opponent is.

We spar against fighters who have every different kind of style, because the opponent could always bring something new to the ring. My dad tells me to always be prepared for any kind of style. We are ready for whatever the opponent brings into the ring.

I’m always staying in shape whether I’m in the gym training for a fight or not. When they call us and tell us what the fight is, we’re always ready.

I know that Rivera has fought some good opponents like Joseph Diaz and Joet Gonzalez, and he’s gone the distance with them. He’s given them tough battles. He’s shown that he’s a tough fighter who will leave everything in the ring.

This isn’t going to be an easy fight. Rivera is tougher than people have given him credit for in the past. It motivates me to try to be the first to knock him out. If I have the opportunity for it, I’m going for it. Most important though, is to come out of there with the victory.

Sometimes when my dad is having tough days dealing with the cancer, I want to stay at home with him, but he tells me to go to the gym and train hard. So I tell him that we’re going to work hard for him. We both motivate each other.

“(WBC veergewigkampioen) Gary Russell Jr. is the fight that I want. He beat me in the amateurs, but in the pros I get 12 rondes. I think that I can beat him.

JOSE SANTA CRUZ, Leo’s Father & Trainer

We didn’t worry too much about the opponent change. I don’t think it makes too much of a difference. Leo is going to be at his best and ready for whoever steps into that ring.

We didn’t let the change effect our routine. We continued the same preparations as always so Leo is ready to fight. We respect every opponent too much to ever fall behind in conditioning.

I think this is going to be a good fight. Leo is always very competitive and any time he can win a fight he knows it will be big for his career.

Leo is 30-years-old right now and I think that he will be retired by 35. He has a lot left to accomplish in this sport and our team is going to keep pushing him to be the best that he can.

RICHARD SCHAEFER, Voorsitter & Uitvoerende hoof van Ringstar Sport

Top to bottom this is just a great card. It’s going to be toe-to-toe action downtown at L.A. Live. It’s an affordable ticket at $30, and that gives you the chance to see one of the stars of the sport in a slugfest.

Leo Santa Cruz always brings great action and drama when he enters the ring. You have to be on the edge of your seat during a Leo Santa Cruz fight and I expect nothing less next Saturday night. Rafael Rivera has nothing to lose in this fight, and that is the recipe for a tremendous showdown.

Boxing at Microsoft Theater has caught on. That fight in January between Caleb Plant and Jose Uzcategui had a great atmosphere and it is just a beautiful place to watch the fights. Microsoft Theater is becoming the indoor ‘war groundsof boxing.

TOM BROWN, President van TGB Promotions

Rafael Rivera put up a great fight against Joseph Diaz Jr., and he came back against Joet Gonzalez and lost a split-decision, but he really won that fight. Rivera should only have one loss on his record.

Rivera is going into this fight with the same granite chin that he showed everyone against Diaz. He was prepared and ready when the call came for this fight. He’s a great replacement. Leo better be ready and not take him lightly.

Ontario, Kalifornië. (Sewe. 30) – In a marathon night of fights, Southern California fans were treated to performances in a variety of weight classes headlined by Brandon Figueroa (17-0-0, 12 Uitklophoue) van Weslaco, TX against Columbian Oscar Escandon (25-5-0, 17 Uitklophoue) in an action-packed 10-round super bantamweight bout that ended with a knockout by the young prospect Figueroa in the final round live on FS1 and FOX Deportes from Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Both Figueroa and Escandon picked up the pace early as they went toe-to-toe battling in an entertaining fight from the first bell. Figueroa, who typically fights at a distance, wanted to make a statement that he isn’t afraid to fight on the inside. An accidental head butt caused a large cut over the left eye of Figueroa, as blood poured the remainder of the fight. The combatants continued to throw high volumes of punches throughout the bout, but Figueroa remained more accurate and active as Escandon did his best to stay strong. In die tiende en laaste ronde, Figueroa sealed the win with a powerful combination that ended in a right upper cut to Escandon’s chin, sending him to the canvas rendering him unable to stand at minute 1:42.

Escandon is tough. He is short and it was hard to get to the body,” Said Figueroa. “I can fight both inside and outside, but his size did matter. I had to get in there and he wasn’t backing up. I was ready for this fight. Opportunities like this don’t come often so I had to take it and run with it. I have been training all summer and I am ready to take a few days off and get right back to it.

I knew Figueroa was good, but I was surprised at how tough he was,” said Escandon. “Everyone can get caught with a punch. I wasn’t tired. I just got caught. I am okay. I am going to keep going.

The co-main event saw British Silver Medalist Joe Joyce (6-0, 6 Uitklophoue) make his U.S. debut in a heavyweight fight domnation against Iago Kiladze (26-4-0, 18 Uitklophoue) Georgië. Thirty seconds into the second round, Joyce sent Kiladze through the ropes with a flurry of right hands. Kiladze recovered and fought back, surviving the remainder of the round. He entered the third throwing everything he could, but Joyce hit him with a hard hook to the body forcing him to the canvas again. The fight ended in the with 41 seconds to go in the fifth round as Joyce landed a hard left hook to Kiladze’s body knocking him out.

It is great to be here,” said Joyce. “I started training in the United States because it was the best way to start my career here,” said Joyce. “It is great to have my sixth win here and I look forward to getting in the ring again soon. I think I made a great impression here tonight and I just want to continue that streak.

Also featured on the card was fast-rising star Joey Spencer (5-0, 5 Uitklophoue) of Union City, Kalifornië. Against Cory Macon (0-3-0) of Durham, NC in a four-round middleweight bout. The 18-year-old Spencer, with dreams to become the youngest American with a world title, went to work immediately, going to the body of Macon. He continued to attack the body, but with a hard left hook, he sent Macon to the canvas, ending the fight just inside round number one at minute 2:36.

I stay active and stay in the gym. It keeps me focused and ready,” said Spencer. “My goal is to become a world champion by age 20. Fans need to keep an eye on me and my career because I am here to stay.

Rene Tellez Giron (7-0-0, 6 Uitklophoue) faced Nick Jones (7-1-0, 5 Uitklophoue) of Okmulgee, OK in a six-round heavyweight fight that didn’t even last one round. With a hard right hand, Ajagba sent Jones to the canvas with a devastating knockout in 2:25 van die eerste.

Now we know why my last opponent walked out of the ring. He was afraid that was going to happen to him,” said Ajagba. “I watched tape of Jones and I knew he was slow. I was ready to attack the minute I got into the ring. I want anyone that my management will put in front of me. Ek is gereed. I prepared for six rounds and I can’t wait to get back in the ring.

In a televised swing bout, young prospect Jose Balderas (5-0-0) of Santa Maria, Kalifornië. was tested by Mexican Ivan Martino (3-3-0, 3 Uitklophoue) in 'n kapokgewig, but was able to get his shots off, connected with several left hooks to Martino’s body.

He is a strong guy and he kept coming, but we were ready for it,” said Balderas. “I think I got the rounds he needed. I have been improving since my first fight. I am going to keep learning and keep growing.

Stephen Fulton (14-0-0, 6 Uitklophoue) of the fighting city of Philadelphia faced German Meraz (61-50-2, 38 Uitklophoue) of Mexico opened the telecast in a scheduled eight-round featherweight fight. Fulton, who took this fight with 72 uur’ kennisgewing, used his jab throughout the and dominated every round. In the first minute of the eighth and final round, Fulton knocked Meraz down, setting up the win. In die einde, the judges ruled the bout a unanimous decision.

I wasn’t worried about taking the fight on such short notice,” said Fulton. “I knew I was going to dominate. I might have prepared for someone else, but that didn’t matter. I have the experience to be able to adjust. He could have had 100 fights or five fights and I would have bene ready. I want Brandon Figueroa next.

To kick off the night, FS1 and FOX Deportes broadcasted a slate of preliminary fights. Below please find the results of those exciting match-up:

Jesse Rodriguez of Los Angeles (7-0-0, 4 Uitklophoue) won via unanimous decision against Edwin Reyes of Las Vegas (8-4-3, 5 Uitklophoue) in an eight-round light flyweight bout.
