LOS ANGELES (April 16, 2015) – Popular Mexican superstar and former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and dangerous brawler Andrzej Fonfara participated in the final the final press conference Donnerstag at Crowne Plaza Hotel LAX, just two days before Samstag Showtime Championship BOXEN double.

 

Chavez (48-1-1, 32 KOs) of Culiacan, Mexiko, and Fonfara (26-3, 15 KOs) of Chicago by way of Radon, Polen, will meet in the 12-round light heavyweight main event live on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING (10 p.m. UND/ 7 p.m. PT) von StubHub Center in Carson, Calif. Chavez will make his eagerly awaited return to the ring and first start for new trainer Joe Goossen.

“Amir is always confident going into each fight, but he made a mistake in the Maldonado fight. He rolled his right hand and forgot about the left hand and was knocked down. He had to pay for his mistakes but it’s all a learning experience, he still has only 16 professional fights under his belt.

 

“Castillo has a great jab and good combinations. A guy like that throws a lot of punches, but there is a technique to breaking down a fighter like that.

 

“We can’t spend a lot of time on the ropes, and we must go after his body because his body is weak. Castillo is going to get knocked out am Samstag.

“When I was training with Freddie Roach, it was very different. I think Freddie is a great trainer, but Joe also has a lot of experience and we have made a connection together.

 

“I really liked training in Lake Tahoe. The altitude, der Ring, everything I needed was there. I felt very comfortable up there and I would like to come back there to train for a fight again.

 

“I promise a great fight, this is a very exciting fight. Fonfara isn’t an easy opponent, but he has never seen an opponent like me.”

This fight requires great preparation because he is going into the fight at a weight that’s higher than his normal weight and he is facing a very tough opponent.

“I think there has been a 180 degree turn in his career. I see this as a positive because he can really develop his ability and looks very well prepared.

 

“I would’ve liked to have seen him take a tune up fight instead because of his long layoff; I particularly didn’t want this fight.

 

“Juli [Chavez Jr.] wants credibility in this sport and that’s why he made the decision to take this fight, even though it’s a dangerous decision. He must be very prepared for this fight.”

“I’ve been asked over the years who the one fighter was that I would like to work and my answer was always Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

 

“I’ve always really admired his style. I had known him as a kid, his father is a legend. It had always seemed like a dream job for me, and out of nowhere I got it.

 

“Lake Tahoe was tremendous for training camp. You are isolated and it’s not an easy thing. When you aren’t training you are sitting in a hotel room. You are deprived the comforts of home, but it really gives you that concentration and dedication factor and I think that will interpret into some positive results.

 

“I matured over my years, once I had a kid and a family and I think the same has happened with Julio. Life becomes clearer when you put away the immaturity. You realize that you have a future and if you really want to access what’s available to you, then you are going to have to work hard and dedicate yourself to it.

 

“Going to Lake Tahoe and really working hard is a sign of maturity and I think that’s what Julio is going through right now. He really showed it by leaving his home and spending an extended period of time up there. To me that is a great indicator that he is mature, dedicated and taking this fight very seriously.

 

“Of course I believe Julio is ready to fight Fonfara. The fight was made before I even came on board, but that’s the challenge that I am presented with. You must figure out a good game plan and figure out what you’re up against.

 

“Just because Julio has been out a year doesn’t mean that it’s going to be a cake walk for Fonfara. We went up to Lake Tahoe with one thing in mind, and that’s winning this fight and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

Die aggressive gesinnten, 30-jahre alt Escandon captured the crown in his last start via a 12-round split decision over Canadian southpaw Tyson Cave last Dezember. 11. Escandon was making his United States debut and triumphed in a tight fight by the scores of 117-111, 115-113 und 113-115.

 

Escandon was a top amateur -he represented Colombia in the 2004 Olympische Spiele- before turning professional in June 2006. Twenty of his initial 21 fights took place in his native Colombia while he’s also fought in Argentina and Panama. His lone defeat came in his first attempt at the interim WBA title on a split 12-round decision to Nehomar Cermenoon Aug. 10, 2013, in Panama. .

 

Blumen, 28, macht seinen 2015 debut and third start in a row in the United States. Ein Profi seit August 2008, Blumen’ erste 20 fights took place in Mexico. He’s never gone more than seven full rounds although three of his fights have been scheduled for 10.

 

Known in Mexico for his show stopping-knockouts, the heavy-handed Flores registered three devastating knockouts in 2013, the biggest of which was a brutal second-round stoppage of longtime Mexican contender Rodolfo Hernandez in February of that year.

Flores recorded a seventh-round TKO in his last start over Mario Macias last November. 21 in Tulsa.

 

Omar Chavez, 25, the youngest son of Julio Sr. and three years younger than Julio Jr., will be making his U.S. und 2015 Debüt. All his fights have been in Mexico, where he turned pro at the tender age of 16 im Dezember 2006. The 36-year-old Gutierrez is hoping to bounce back after suffering consecutive defeats. Fighting out of Miami by way of Colombia, Gutierrez has been battle-tested over the years having faced the likes ofJoshua Clottey, Vanes Martirosyan und Luis Carlos Abregu.

“Ich habe mich mit der rechten gefangen und ließ das erste Mal ging ich nach unten. Als er erwischte mich mit dem linken und ging ich später es nicht wirklich auf mich wirken, dass viel tatsächlich. Er ist der Champion aber und er kämpfte einen großen Kampf heute.

 

“Der Kampf auf CBS war eine unglaubliche Highlight für meine Karriere. Ich habe nicht den Sieg zu holen, aber ich auf einen großen Kampf gestellt für die Öffentlichkeit zu sehen.

“Ich wollte wirklich Beterbiev in den späten Runden dieses Kampfes zu drücken, um zu sehen, wie er würde damit umgehen, aber ich war nicht in der Lage, um es getan.

 

“Der wichtigste Schlag war das erste Mal ergriff er mich in der ersten Runde. Nach diesem Schuss war ich nicht in der Lage, mich wieder.

“Es gab keine Unterschätzung Hernandez für diesen Kampf. Wir untersuchten eine Menge Film auf ihn und hatte eine ziemlich gute Vorstellung davon, was er in den Ring heute bringen.

 

“Ich dachte, dass meine Jab und meine Bewegung waren meine beiden größten Stärken in diesem Kampf. Abschneiden der Ring war der Schlüssel.

 

“Das PBC-Serie und mit den Kämpfen auf einem großen Netzwerk wie CBS ist riesig für den Boxsport. Es ist toll, in so viele weitere Häuser erhalten, und ich hoffe, dass es hilft, den Sport immer beliebter. Hoffentlich wird dies den Schülern, wer sich nicht leisten können Premium-Kabel und hilft mehr junge Kinder in den Sport zu bekommen erreicht.

“Williams ist wahrscheinlich der beste Kämpfer, die ich bisher konfrontiert. Er ist nicht der härtesten Hitter, aber er kämpfte eine sehr intelligente Kampf. Er nutzte seine Höhe und Reichweite, um mich weg von meinen Jab zu halten und den Aufenthalt aus meinem Bereich.

 

“Leider musste ich Schläge, um Schläge in diesem Kampf geben. Als ich im Inneren konnte ich meine Schläge steigen, aber ich konnte nicht genug, um den Sieg zu holen tun.

 

“Das war ein großer Kampf für die Fans und kämpfen auf CBS gab mir eine große Chance für so viel mehr Menschen, um diese Kämpfe zu sehen.

 

“Ich bin noch jung an 30-jährige. Ich weiß, dass ich in den Ring wieder. Ich tue dies, weil ich will und ich liebe es, nicht, weil ich muss.”

QUEBEC CITY, QUEBEC (April 1, 2015) – During Mittwochs final press conference at Le Bonne Entente in Quebec City, beide Adonis “Übermensch” Stevenson und Sakio “The Scorpion” Stier promised a knockout when they meet in the main event of the debut presentation of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) auf CBSTelevision Network this Saturday, April 4, bei 3 p.m. UND/Noon PT.

 

The hard-hitting Stevenson (25-1, 21 KOs) will defend his light heavyweight world championship against former super middleweight world champion Bika (32-6-3, 21 KOs) in the main event from the Pepsi Coliseum in Québec.

 

The case was the same with the co-main event fighters as both undefeated light heavyweight and two-time Russian Olympian Artur Beterbiev (7-0, 7 KOs) and former light heavyweight world champion Gabriel Campillo (25-6-1, 12 KOs) expected to win via KO an diesem Samstag Nachmittag. Campillo, sportliche Tom Brady jersey, even promised he would win in dramatic fashion like this year’s Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots.

“My trainer has given me a great plan. He knows Sakio Bika very well and we’ll see what happens in the ring.

 

“Bika is still going to have the same power moving up in weight. He should actually be stronger.

 

“I’m very focused because I know Bika is very dangerous. I know he’s going to come into the ring and try to give me trouble.

 

“I’m a knockout artist. I can do a lot in the ring, but first and foremost I’m a knockout artist.

 

“I’d love to unify the belts eventually, but I’ll let my manager Al Haymon take care of that.

 

“My mentor Emanuel Steward always told me that as soon as I enter the ring the knockout is what sells. I’ll definitely be going for the knockout an diesem Samstag on CBS.”

“To beat a great fighter you have to be your best. I’m looking to take the WBC title back home.

 

“I’ve fought everyone – I’ve never ducked an opponent – and I don’t know if he can handle the pressure.

 

“I feel more comfortable at 175 Pfund. I want to test the big boy [Stevenson] and I feel like I can do that. Am Samstag we’ll see.

“The way you prepare for an unorthodox fighter like Bika is to make sure your basics are sound. You have to have a good jab, you have to have good movement and you have to have ‘super power’ And I have “Übermensch.

 

“Emanuel also told me the knockout sells. It’s something that we both know and it’s something that is imbedded in us. We’re looking for the knockout on April 4. Sometimes I see things that Adonis is looking to do before he does it. So I’ll just be sitting there waiting for Adonis to catch Sakio Bika making a mistake and getting a knockout.

 

“I’m super proud to represent Kronk Gym. That’s why I wear my hat here. Kronk to me is like my family name and that’s what I live by. I was born into Kronk when I was a little kid going to a tournament with my uncle Emanuel and all I remember is the Kronk fighters winning. And that’s what I do now: Sieg.

 

“Adonis is an artist, he’s a KO artist. Meine Vorhersage für Samstag is a knockout on CBS.

It was good for Bika to hear that because it motivated him. He knows he has an opportunity to do something about it. Am Samstag afternoon he can change all that.

 

“If Stevenson does what he says he’s going to do – meet him in the center of the ring and go toe-to-toe – this is going to be a tremendous fight.

 

“If he comes to the center of the ring and fights and goes toe-to-toe then this fight won’t go the distance. If Stevenson comes to trade I think he gets knocked out. If he runs around the ring and boxes then it could be a different outcome.”

 

 

ARTUR BETERBIEV:

“I don’t think this is a big challenge for me. I’m ready to face the world champions and raise the bar higher. This is just another opponent for me.

 

“This is another step that will move me closer to facing the champions at 175 Pfund. I want to put on a solid fight and show that I’m one of the best fighters in this division.

 

“A knockout is never a goal for me. I’m trying to show my work and my dedication in the ring, but usually that’s what happens. Usually I finish with a knockout but that is not my main goal. My main goal is to box and show my skills.

 

“My motivation is to face the champions. That’s why I work so hard every day in the gym. I will get there soon.

 

“Why not face Kovalev? Ich bin bereit. When I turned professional my goal was to meet the champions. He’s a champion now and I’d like to face the champions.”

 

 

Gabriel Campillo:

“We started training Jan. 1 and camp has been very good. We’ve been working very hard and I think I’m in great condition for this fight.

 

“Beterbiev may not have a lot of professional experience, but he’s had a very long amateur career. So we know that he’s ready and is a good opponent for us. We’ll see how he handles things once we get past the 5th, 6th und 7th Runde.

 

“To get ready for a hard-hitter like Beterbiev required lots of conditioning training. We worked the neck and the chin a lot. We think we’ve got a great chance in the second half of this fight though considering Beterbiev hasn’t really been tested like that.

 

“As for a prediction, I’m going to knock Beterbiev out in the seventh round.”
