NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CALIF. (Hydref 26, 2021) – Unbeaten two-time world champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez and his older brother, longtime contender José Benavídez, previewed their respective showdowns before they enter in the ring in their hometown of Phoenix, Ariz. ar ddydd Sadwrn, Tachwedd 13 live on SHOWTIME in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center.

David will battle former champion José Uzcátegui in a super middleweight title eliminator bout that headlines the event, while José faces Argentina’s Francisco Emanuel Torres in the 10-round co-main event. The Benavídez brothers have their sights set on impressing their hometown fans in long-awaited homecoming bouts November 13, which will mark their first time entering the ring in Phoenix since 2015.

Mae tocynnau ar gyfer y digwyddiad yn fyw, which is promoted by Sampson Boxing and TGB Promotions, are on sale now and are available for purchase through Ticketmaster.com.

Here is what the Benavídez brothers, plus their father and trainer Jose Benavídez Sr., had to say from training camp in North Hollywood, California:

DAVID BENAVÍDEZ

“Everything has been amazing in camp. We’re sparring 12-13 rounds and running six or seven miles a day. I’ve worked very hard and I can’t wait to put on a show November 13.

“Uzcátegui is a tough competitor and he was a former world champion, so I have to give him that respect. There are big fights on the horizon for me, so I have to prepare accordingly for Uzcátegui.

“I feel like I’m the better fighter. I have the better skills, more power, more speed and I’m hungrier too. It’s going to be a great night for my team. I feel like I’m going to go in there and get the knockout victory.

“A lot of people in Phoenix are excited for this one. I’m excited to go back. The timing is perfect. I mi, this is the biggest fight of my career. I’m ready for anything that comes my way November 13.

“We’re just focused on Uzcátegui, but of course there are bigger fights for me in the future. If I win this fight, I’m in the number one spot for whoever wins between Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant.

“Facing Canelo would be a huge fight in the super middleweight division, but I have to go out there on November 13 and get this victory first.

“Right now, with the level I’m at, the fighters that I’m seeking to fight are champions and former champions. Whether it’s Canelo, Plant or Jermall Charlo, I feel like we’re all going to end up facing each other at some point.

“Canelo vs. Plant is a great fight for the division. It’s a fight where both guys have a lot to prove. Those kinds of fights tend to bring the best out of everybody. There’s a lot of pressure and a lot of glory on the line, so I feel like they’re going to be the best they’ve ever been. I’m going to be ready for the winner next.

“I’ve been a pro for eight years already. I just want the biggest fights out there. This is the level I’ve been working to get to for a long time, and we’re finally here at this moment. I want to fight the best of the best and prove myself. I want to show that I’m the best super middleweight in the world.

“Uzcátegui is strong and he has a will to win, but I just believe that I have the better skill set. These are the types of fighters that I need to test myself against. It’s definitely going to be a war, but I’m going to come out on top.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ

“It feels great to be on this card with my brother, and to be making my comeback in my hometown. There’s going to be a lot of support for me. It’s a great feeling and I’m looking forward to giving my fans a great outcome.

“I had to take a break, but now I have a different kind of mindset. I just want to keep fighting, training and staying ready. I want to get to the top of the super welterweight division.

“The delay has just given me more time to train, more time to get stronger and more time to get ready. I’ve just been making the most of it.

“I’m going to be an animal on fight night. I’m coming for everything. Rwy'n llwglyd. I’ve been out of the ring for years, so I need to make a statement. That’s what I’m looking to do November 13.

“We have a great team here. We all came from nothing and we all started this journey at the same time. We learned day by day and that’s what makes our bond strong. Without my team, I wouldn’t be boxing.

“I have a lot of friends, family and fans who are coming out for my return. That’s really what’s motivating me. I’m happy that people still want to see me in the ring.

"Nid wyf yn gwybod gormod am fy gwrthwynebydd, and I honestly don’t care, because I’m taking him down. No matter who they put in front of me, good luck to them.

“After my fight, which I’m going to end early, I’m going to be ready to walk out with my brother and support him for his fight.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time with my wife and my two daughters during this time off because there were so many things I wasn’t able to be around for earlier in my career. It’s been amazing but I’m excited to be back. I still have a lot to prove.”

JOSÉ BENAVÍDEZ SR., David and José’s Father and Trainer

“David is looking very strong right now. With every fight he gets stronger and stronger and matures more and more. He’s just getting his man strength, so I think everyone is going to see something spectacular November 13.

“Words can’t even describe how it feels to be coming back to Phoenix training my two sons for this big show. It’s something I’ve only dreamed of. Now it’s happening, and we’re super excited.

“I always have to continue adjusting and growing as a trainer. I have to understand that these are grown men now. I had to stop thinking of them as my little kids. I’m always trying to learn more so that I can support their careers as best I can.

“I’m super proud of Jose for getting to this point after his injury. Everything he does now is just extra, it’s up to him to stay focused and work hard. He’s very strong both physically and mentally and that’s why I never gave up on him.

“We’ve been dedicating ourselves and sacrificing every day so that we can give our people in Phoenix a really good show. They’re going to get an exciting night and I can’t wait.”

“I am happy to be bringing David ‘El Bandera Roja’ Benavidez back to his hometown to fight after so many years away,” said Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing. “It is going to be a sensational welcome party for him and all the fans.”

Still just 24-years-old, Benavídez (24-0, 21 Kos) enters this fight having knocked out his last four opponents, including a September 2019 knockout of two-time super middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell. Mae'r rhan fwyaf diweddar, he earned stoppage victories over Roamer Alexis Angulo in August 2020 and Ronald Ellis in March of this year. Benavídez is trained by his father José Sr., alongside his brother and former title challenger, José Jr. Yn 2017, he became the youngest super middleweight champion in boxing history by defeating Ronald Gavril on SHOWTIME at just 20 mlwydd oed. Representing his native Phoenix, Ariz., Benavídez went from a 15-year-old prodigy sparring with Gennady Golovkin and Peter Quillin, to world title contender with a 10-fight knockout streak from 2015 trwy 2017, including a highlight-reel knockout of Rogelio Medina with a seven-punch combination that earned him his first title opportunity.

“I’m super excited to fight in front of my hometown fans,” said Benavídez. “It’s a dream come true for me to come back home as a two-time world champion. I’m training for Uzcategui like he’s a world champ because he has a lot of experience and he’s a hungry fighter. I know that he needs this win, but I won’t let that happen. I’m staying dedicated and motivated to win on August 28 on SHOWTIME and I want to look impressive doing it in order to get even bigger and better fights in the future.”

Born in Venezuela and fighting out of Tijuana, Mecsico, Uzcategui (31-4, 26 Kos) captured a 168-pound world title in March of 2018 by stopping veteran contender Andre Dirrell after eight rounds. The 30-year-old put himself in position to fight for a title with four-straight stoppage victories from 2015 trwy 2016, including a win over then-unbeaten Julius Jackson. Since losing the title to unbeaten champion Caleb Plant in January 2019, Uzcategui has rebounded to win three of his last four fights, including knockout wins in 2021 over Jaime Hernandez Lopez and Josue Obando.

“I’m excited to be back on the big stage for this fight,” said Uzcategui. “I know what I’m up against with Benavídez. Mae'n yn ymladdwr gwych, and that’s my biggest motivation. This is going to be a war and I can’t wait to give the people a great fight. Both of us come to brawl, so this is going to be a classic on August 28.”

The 28-year-old Benavídez (27-1, 18 Kos) is the older brother of main event headliner David and returns to fight in his hometown of Phoenix for the first time in six years. A long-established contender, Benavídez will return to action for the first time since dropping a 147-pound title showdown to Terence Crawford in October 2018. Benavídez had previously earned wins over contenders such as Mauricio Herrera, Francisco Santana and Frank Rojas on his way to that world title opportunity.

“I’m really excited to be back in the ring after being out for a while,” said Benavidez. “I feel more mature, motivated and stronger than ever. Fighting alongside my brother and in my hometown is really a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to making a tremendous comeback. It doesn’t matter who they put in front of me, I guarantee that I’m going to take them out. No one is going to want to miss this night, because me and my brother are bringing the fireworks.”

A native of boxing-rich Buenos Aires, Yr Ariannin, Torres (17-3, 5 Kos) enters this fight the winner of his last nine contests dating back to 2018. The 31-year-old will fight in the U.S. for the third time on August 28, having scored stateside victories over Cleotis Pendarvis in August 2020 and Louis Hernandez in February of this year. Torres most recently won a unanimous decision over Alexi Rivera in June as he prepares for his toughest fight to date against Benavídez.

“I’m very pumped up for this fight,” said Torres. “I want to thank my whole team for this opportunity to participate in such an important fight. This is a great chance for me to go to the next level against a great fighter who’s had an exceptional career. I will work very hard to get the victory on August 14 and raise high the flag of Argentina.”

Castro (26-0, 11 Kos) has climbed the rankings since turning pro in 2012 as he seeks a shot at a super bantamweight championship. The Phoenix-native added two victories in 2020, defeating Jesus Ruiz in February before stopping longtime contender Cesar Juarez in four rounds in July. Castro was coming off a 2019 campaign that saw him score three victories, including 10-round unanimous decision triumphs over former title challenger Genesis Servania and veteran contender Mario Diaz.

“I’m very grateful for this opportunity to fight an excellent opponent in Oscar Escandon,” said Castro. “I’m very motivated to put on a great performance in front of my hometown fans. Ar Awst 28, I’m going to be ready to showcase all of my skills and hard work in the ring so I leave with my hand raised.”

A native of Ibague, Colombia, Escandon (26-5, 18 Kos) has faced a slew of top contenders and champions including featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. and super bantamweight champion Brandon Figueroa, plus hard-hitting contender Tugstsogt Nyambayar. Escandon captured an interim title in 2016 when he knocked out Robinson Castellanos to earn his world title shot against Russell. Mae'r rhan fwyaf diweddar, Escandon scored a first-round knockout over previously unbeaten contender Jhack Tepora in December of 2019.

I’m very focused on training for this fight because I know a win can lead me back to another world title opportunity,” said Escandon. “Castro is a good young fighter who has a solid jab and can move. But I think he’s the perfect opponent for me. There are a lot of things we can do to win this fight and I can’t wait to go in there on August 28 and show it.

LOS ANGELES (Ionawr 13) – The challenger proved to be the aggressor as Caleb Plant became the IBF Super Middleweight World Champion, defeating Jose Uzcategui in the main event of the first Premier Boxing Champions on FS1 and FOX Deportes event of 2019, which took place at the Microsoft Theater at L.A. Yn byw yn Los Angeles. Plant dominated the whole fight as he maintained a fast and aggressive pace from the opening bell.

With scores of 116-110 ddwywaith ac 115-111 in favor of Plant, the freshly crowned champion, Plant fell to his knees overcome with emotion when he heard “and the new!".

“I’ve worked my whole entire life for this,” said Plant. “I buried my daughter in the process of trying to get this belt. I promised I would bring her this title and that is what I am going to do.”

The super middleweight barnburner started out strong with both combatants throwing exchanges, but Plant did everything in his power to never back down. Uzcategui threw hard right hands to start the second round, but Plant quickly turned the round in his favor as he knocked Uzcategui to the canvas with a flurry of punches, only the third time Uzcategui had been knocked down in his career. A small cut opened under the left eye of Uzcategui to start the third, but he fought through it and fended off Plant’s aggression. One minute into the fourth round, a cut opened up under Plant’s right eye causing blood to stream. That did not stop the Nashville native as threw a hard left hook that once again sent Uzcategui to the canvas.

As the fight progressed, the Venezuelan was unable to utilize his distance, thus allowing Plant to fight on the inside. Despite good exchanges in the seventh and eighth, it became increasingly clear that Uzcategui would need a knockout to hold onto his belt. Uzcategui flipped a switch in the championship rounds and came forward, throwing hard blows to the body and head of Plant. But it was too little too late for Uzcategui as Plant’s ring generalship controlled the pace of the fight, ultimately ending in a unanimous decision.

I knew I caught him clean [when I knocked down Uzcategui], but I knew he wasn’t all the way out so I took my time,” continued Plant. “I stayed relaxed. I stuck to the game plan and got it done just like I said I would.

This is overwhelming. I am a kid who came from nothing. I believed in myself and now I’ve been crowned king. Ar hyn o bryd, I am not thinking ahead. I just want to embrace this moment and soak it in.”

“I did feel that I had the advantage heading into the fight,” said Uzcategui. “I went down because I was off balance, but I wasn’t hurt. He started to get tired around the sixth round, which was the plan. Caleb knew how to clench and hold. He was smart. He knew how to stay away from the punches.

“I expected more movement and more boxing out of him,” continued Uzcategui. “I would love the rematch. I think everyone saw a great fight tonight. I gave him the chance at the title and I would hope he would give me the chance to win it back.”

Unbeaten Brandon Figueroa (18-0, 13 Kos) o WESLACO, Texas faced former world title challenger Moises Flores (25-2, 17 Kos) o Guadalajara, Mex. in a WBA Super Bantamweight title eliminator. Figueroa wasted no time attacking Flores in round one as he came forward and threw several hard lefts followed by a body shot that seemed to surprise Flores. Gyda 30 eiliad ar ôl yn y rownd, Figueroa went for the body and worked Flores on the inside. While Flores seemed to find his footing at the start of round three, Figueroa unleashed a flurry of punches that sent Flores to the canvas once and then a second time that ended the fight at 1:35 y drydedd rownd.

“Break him down and finish him,” said Figueroa “This is exactly how I expected it to go. I knew that he wasn’t going to handle those body shots. My message to Daniel Roman is that I am going to go home and prepare.

“I used that body work,” continued Figueroa. “I am really strong. I came in at 110 percent and did my job. I could have done better. I am really hard on myself. I know there are things I can continue to work on and will do that as soon as I get home. I am most definitely ready for a title shot.”

Fast-rising undefeated star and PBC Prospect of 2018 Joey Spencer (6-0, 6 Kos) of Linden, Mich., continued his impressive knockout streak as he defeated Brandon Harder (2-2, 1 KO) of Southaven, Miss., in a super welterweight contest that saw Spencer knocking down Harder three times in less than two rounds. The 18-year-old Spencer, who fought 100 ymladd fel amatur, established his jab early and landed at will. He threw and landed a straight right at the end of round one that sent Harder to his knees. Forty-five seconds into round two, Spencer sent Harder to the canvas again followed by a swarm of punches that ended the fight at 1:27 o'r cylch.

“Fans are going to see that I give it my all when I get in the ring and I’m going to put on a show,” said Spencer. “You’re going to get more and more tests in my career and I believe I will rise to the level of my competition. Sometimes you’re in there with an awkward guy, he proves to be a test. I’ll move to six rounds for my next fight. I want to fight four times this year and I’m looking forward to it.”

The Premier Boxing Champions Prelims on FS1 featured three bouts that all ended in exciting knockout victories, kicking off a great night of fights.

The Prelim telecast featured the long-awaited ring return of Guillermo Rigondeux (18-1, 12 Kos) who hadn’t fought since December 2017. The Cuban fan-favorite faced Giovanni Delgado of Tacubaya, Mex. (16-9, 9 Kos) and knocked him out in the last second of round one with an overhand left. Delgado could not be saved by the 10 count and the fight was called in favor of Rigondeux.

This is my division. Mae hyn yn fy amser,” said Rigondeaux. “I am the king of 122 bunnoedd. Roeddwn yn teimlo 100 y cant. Delgado is a good fighter. I take my hat off to him and his team. I came prepared and I am ready to face people that are undefeated. Whoever has a belt, I am taking it. You can expect me back in less than two months.

“I fought my idol tonight,” said Delgado. “I knew he hit hard, but I didn’t know he hit that hard. I have been cleared by the doctor and am fine. Just a little bit in shock.”

A scheduled eight-round light heavyweight bout featuring Egypt’s Ahmed Elbiali (18-1, 15 Kos) against 16-year veteran Allan Green (33-6, 22 Kos) o Tulsa, OK saw Elbiali knock Green down in every round. Fodd bynnag, Green did showcase his experience choosing to go toe-to-toe despite Elbiali’s aggression. Yn y pen draw, it was a right uppercut followed by an overhand right that sent Green to the canvas as Elbiali scored a knockout at 1:16 o rownd tri.

“I was easier than I thought it was going to be,” said Elbiali. “Losing to Pascal the way I did, it messes with you mentally. I was trying to stay on my A-game. Stay focused and thankfully it showed. My game plan clicked really well. I have been sparring with Caleb (Planhigion) and other great guys. That keeps you sharp and alert. I would love to win a world title and be the first Egyptian win a world championship.”

In the opening bout of the Premier Boxing Champions Prelims on FS1, Mexican Olympian Lindolfo Delgado (8-0, 8 Kos) of Linares, Mex. continued his professional knockout streak as he defeated Sergio Lopez (22-13-1, 15 Kos) of West Covina, CA via knockout at 2:48 y drydedd rownd. Delgado has yet to fight 30 rounds in his eight fights as a professional. He was clearly the aggressor throughout the fight and landed almost 50 percent of his power punches.

OAKLAND, MEGIS. (Chwefror 23, 2018) – Super middleweight Andre Dirrell is preparing for his rematch with Jose Uzcategui by working with renowned trainer Virgil Hunter and former pound-for-pound great Ward Andre ahead of his showdown for the Interim IBF Super Middleweight title Dydd Sadwrn, Mawrth 3 yn byw ar Showtime (9 p.m. A/6 p.m. PT) gan Barclays Center, cartref BROOKLYN BOCSIO ™.
The Premier Boxing Champions event is headlined by the highly anticipated matchup between heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder a heriol unbeaten Luis Ortiz.

Gall tocynnau ar gyfer y digwyddiad hefyd yn cael eu prynu yn y Swyddfa Docynnau American Express yn Barclays Center.
Dirrell has moved his training camp out to Oakland to train with Hunter and gain wisdom from being around Ward. Ward for his part, feels Dirrell has not yet reached his potential in the ring.
The way I feel about Andre is the way I’ve always felt, the sky’s the limit,” said the recently retired Ward. “He has the God-given ability and talent to do whatever he wants to do in a boxing ring. Mewn geiriau eraill, he is blessed with the kind of gifts, that if he’s made up his mind that he won’t allow himself to be beat and if he prepares properly in camp, it’s going to be very hard to beat him.
With a fighter with Andre’s experience and pedigree, it’s less physical and more psychological. Do you want to be a champion and do you want to dominate your division? If the answer is yes, which I believe it is, then go do it. It sounds simple and in many ways it is, but you have to be very intentional to condition your mind to think this way and really believe it. That’s the reason he is training with Virgil in the Bay Area. Physical training, mental preparation & spiritual preparation. It all matters.
Here is part of what Dirrell had to say about training camp with Hunter and Ward. Read the full story YMA via PremierBoxingChampions.com.
What are some of the nuances Virgil brings, and will your grandfather, Leon “Bumper” Lawson, remain in your corner?
Virgil is teaching me similarly to the way my grandfather taught me, and I can easily say that he’s picking up where my grandfather left off. My grandfather put my talents in me, making me the fighter Andre Ward had to worry about back in the day.
But my grandfather doesn’t have the ability to coach really anymore because he’s in the beginning stages of dementia, but I still have him in my corner, and I always will. Virgil has taken over, and this is bar-none, the best I’ve felt, yn feddyliol, yn fy ngyrfa. There are little things about Virgil that I had to adapt to.
Virgil’s sense of humor is raw, playful and serious at the same time. If I stop for one minute, he’ll tell me, ‘It takes one second to get knocked out.He teaches with passion, direction and remains focused on the task at hand, really wanting you to instill how important things are, psychologically.
How beneficial is the atmosphere in Virgil’s gym?
There is a positive aura in the gym, which is a winning environment. When you walk into that gym, it’s time to work. Virgil lets you know that simply by staring at you. You have Andre Ward’s posters all around you, other fightersposters around you. There are a lot of fightersfaces up on those gym walls, including Andre Berto’s.
I’m definitely inspired because the atmosphere has everything to offer as far as training. You have the mountains, the beaches. Ac wrth gwrs, ultimately, you have Virgil, who has flair about him and a way to generate that fire within you and bring it out of you. The most important thing with Virgil is listening.
What counsel have you received from Ward?
Andre’s never really showed any hesitation about offering advice and has always been there to give it to me, no problem at all. Andre has always been cordial and honest about wanting to see me hold that championship belt. I believe that he’ll see that this year.
But I can imagine that now that he’s out of the game, he can do it more freely. I recently had a 45-minute conversation over the phone with him about Jesus Christ, ond, face-to-face, we’ve spoken quite often. He came down for a few of my sparring sessions and he’ll be coming to a few more.
We’ve always talked and had a good time, and he’s been quite an inspiration, aside from being a boxer. Andre has a confidence about himself in and out of the ring, so he’s one of the top guys in my life as a motivator for life outside of and beyond boxing.
Has Virgil broken down the Uzecategui fight?
Virgil has watched the fight several times, and I’ve watched the fight several times. We both agreed that the mistakes were definitely all mine and both agree that I didn’t use my ring generalship.
Even with the flaws that I was committing, I still found my groove. I heard myself saying that I had gotten his timing down and was taking over leading up to the end of the fight.
Uzecategui is a fighter, but that’s ithe’s no boxer. He has great punching ability but not great skills and he’s not fast, so I expect him to attack me like the first fight. He knows how to put a one-two-three together, and he’s hungry.
As far as boxing goes, I’ll have to teach him a thing or two about how this game is really played. There’s no question I made the first fight harder than it had to be. I look at that first fight with so much confidence.
I know that I fought it incorrectly, but I was still coming back. He won the first, second and possibly third and fourth rounds, but I was coming back. So this time, I plan on frustrating this boy so much that he’ll be completely off of his game.

The hotly contested first match between Dirrell and Uzcategui, which was also for the IBF interim world title, ended in controversy after Uzcategui was disqualified for landing a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round. Dirrell was dropped and knocked out by the punch. The referee ruled that the punch was intentional and disqualified Uzcategui. In the IBF mandated rematch, Dirrell and Uzcategui will look to put themselves in position to fight for the super middleweight title that Caleb Truax recently earned via a majority decision over James DeGale.
Dirrell (26-2, 16 Kos), a bronze medal winner for the 2004 U.S. Olympic boxing team, continues his quest for a world championship. The 34-year-old southpaw from Flint, Michigan lost a split decision to Carl Froch in his first attempt in 2009 and dropped a narrow unanimous decision to DeGale in his next attempt in 2015.
I’m extremely excited to be a part of one of the most dynamic tripleheaders this year,” Dirrell said. “This time around I’ll be phenomenal and leave no doubt who the better fighter is. Rwy'n 100 percent focused on dominating Uzcategui on March 3 and getting another shot at the title.
The 27-year-old Uzcategui (26-2, 22 Kos), who is from Venezuela and now lives in Tijuana, Mecsico, worked his way up to the match against Dirrell with a string of four straight stoppage victories, including a stunning upset of Julian Jackson in 2015. Uzcategui dropped Jackson four times on the way to a second round technical knockout victory.
I’m very excited to go get what’s mine,” meddai'r Uzcategui. “I feel I won the last fight. I didn’t feel I did anything wrong. What happened in the last fight is in the past. I’m going to get what belongs to me. The world will see what ‘Bolivitacan do and they’ll want to see more of me.

National Harbor (Mai 20) – From the MGM National HarborMr.” Gary Russell Jr, (28-1, 17 Kos) had a successful homecoming in front of a nearly sold out crowd as he defended his WBC Featherweight World title with a seventh-round stoppage against the very tough, strong-willed Columbian Oscar ESCANDON (25-3, 17 Kos) yn y prif achos o Showtime PENCAMPWRIAETH BOCSIO.
Russell Jr. took control of the action from the outset, peppering the shorter Escandon at will and dropping him in the third.
Fodd bynnag, the brave Escandon fought his way back into the fight in the fourth and fifth stanzas, but Russell stormed into the seventh, battering the hurt Escandon and dropping him early, causing referee Harvey Dock to stop the fight at the 0:59 mark of the round (Cliciwch YMA to watch the TKO).
About the victory, Russell Jr. Dywedodd, “Yn gyntaf ac yn bennaf, I want to say happy birthday to my father. Secondly, I’d like to tell all the fans that came to support me: I love you all. Diolch yn fawr.
I fought a tough competitor. I knew Escandon wanted to come and bring his best. I knew he was going to come forward. I was ready for him. We are warriors.
I want Lomachenko [nesaf], that’s a no-brainer. I don’t want to do it for the fans or for the media, I want to do it for myself. And I want to do it twice. I’ll knock him out the first time and then, he’ll want me to fight him again.
I’d love to unify against all the other guys in the featherweight division. I’d like Leo Santa Cruz, Lee Selby, Oscar Valdez.
About the knockout loss, “I was getting my rhythm going and I felt like Gary was getting tired. I didn’t see him coming with the big punch he threw at the end and that was it. I went down and was hoping to get a 10 count, but the referee didn’t give it to me and he stopped the fight.
I knew that Gary was going to go fast from the first to the fifth round and it was part of my strategy to let him do that and get tired. It didn’t work unfortunately.
Now we need to go back to the drawing board to rest and see what my manager has planned for me.
Said trainer and father Gary Russell Sr., “I’m ecstatic. I’m really happy. I got three wins. Three stoppages. It’s my birthday. Rwy'n 15 minutes from home and I can go home and relax.
We prepared fully for Mr. Escandon. We knew he was going to do what he didcome forward. I don’t want to diminish or take anything away from Mr. Escandon. He really is a hard, rough fighter. Throughout the course of the fight, I instructed Gary to hit him with some good shots. Some hard shots. It is a brutal sport.
Co-featured on SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING in a 12-round clash for the IBF Interim Super Middleweight Title, Y Fflint, Michigan’s Andre Dirrell, (26-2, 16 Kos), was declared the winner after round eight as Jose Uzcategui, (26-2, 22 Kos) o Merida, Venezuela, was disqualified for a punch after the bell sounded to end the eighth round.
Uzcategui started fast, battering Dirrell from the opening round, cutting off the ring and slamming away with body and head shot through the first three rounds. Dirrell saw success starting in the fourth round, countering Uzcategui and scoring
yn dda.
Over the next four rounds, the contenders traded even as the fight became more hotly contested. At the end of the eighth round, with Dirrell backed into a neutral corner, Uzcategui let loose with a three-punch combination, the last left hand hitting the southpaw after the bell as he fell to the combination.
Following a delay to allow medical personnel to attend to Dirrell, referee Bill Clancy declared that Uzcategui was disqualified with Dirrell being declared the winner.
Said referee Bill Clancy about his decision, “The bell rang to stop the round. The round was over and Andre [Dirrell] was knocked out with an illegal punch. So therefore, Dirrell will win this fight by disqualification.
That’s a blatant foul. Earlier in the fight, I had warned Uzcategui. I warned him. Dirrell wins the fight, he was clearly unable to continue.
About the ending, Dirrell said, “All I remember was him [Uzcategui] throwing a shot at me at the same time the bell rang. After that everything was blurry. I remember a shot and then all went fuzzy.
I forgive Uzcategui. I forgive his camp. I don’t want to win a championship like this. I wanted to win fair and square. But I forgive him.
Following the decision, Dirrell’s trainer and uncle Leon Lawson punched Uzcategui in the corner, sparking a brief altercation in the ring that was quelled by MGM National Harbor security and local police.
I’m sorry for what my coach has done. My coach is my family, my uncle, and he was worried. He cares for me. He loves me. Please forgive him.
I’m going to stand up like a man. I didn’t win like I wanted to, but I’ll be back. I’m going to come back as soon as they let me.
Stated a very disappointed Uzcategui, “I felt very good. I was hurting him the entire fight. I felt like I could hurt him anytime I wanted. Nothing he hit me with hurt me.
I was throwing a three-punch combination and I didn’t hear the bell. I didn’t mean to hit him. The third punch wasn’t that hard of a punch. I was surprised he stayed down.
He did the same thing against Abraham that he did against me tonight. He quit against me and he quit against him. I deserve to be the winner.
The live televised fights in The Theater kicked-off with two-division world championRances Barthelemy (26-0, 13 Kos) winning a 12-round unanimous decision over valiant Kiryl Relikh, (25-3, 16 Kos), of Baranovichi, Byelorussia. Scores in the WBA Super Lightweight eliminator were 116-110, 115-111 ac 117-109.
The opening two rounds of the fight featured excellent action with both fighters attempting to impose their will. In the third round Relikh suffered a low blow resulting in a two-minute delay, Fodd bynnag,, no point deduction was made by referee Kenny Chevalier. Following the low blow, the shorter Relikh became much more aggressive.
With the undefeated, blue-haired Barthelemy switching stances often in the fourth stanza, he was able to score at will against Relikh.
Fodd bynnag, Relikh came out charging in the fifth, battering away against Barthelemy who was caught against the ropes and scoring a knockdown when the ropes held the Cuban up from a barrage of hard punches.
Recovering nicely in the sixth and seventh, Barthelemy badly hurt Relikh with a multitude of body shots from both hands.
In the eight round Barthelemy truly turned the tide for good in the ninth, drilling Relikh to the canvas with a blistering left hook to the body. Through the championship rounds it was all Barthelemy who finished strong against the game but outgunned Relikh.
Said the victorious Barthelemy, “It feels great to be going forward. The 11-month layoff really took a toll on my body and I felt it in the ring.
I knew it was a close fight but knew I should get a unanimous decision.
Relikh was a hard hitter. He surprised me with a right hook in the 5th round and I hit the canvas, so I knew I had to be careful going forward. I knew I had lost that round and had to come back stronger.
I took the sixth round to take a breather and then I came back to work the body. Once I knocked him down, I saw that he was hurt and protecting himself upstairs a lot more so I knew I was going to have to be more strategic to come out victorious.
Replied a very disappointed Relikh, “Of course I thought I won. Even TV thought I won. The referee did his job when he called it a knockdown in the fifth. I thought it was over.
The two low blows definitely affected me. It takes the wind out of you. This is boxing not MMA.
Hot super bantamweight prospect Gary Antonio Russell gwella i 8-0 with six knockouts with a dominating performance and knockout stoppage of Puerto Rico’s Jovany Fuentes, (7-9, 6 Kos). Following knockdowns in the second and third stanzas, the bout was called to a halt at 0:22 o rownd tri.
Making his pro debut, super ysgafn Gary Antuanne Russell, (1-0 1 KO) wasted no time dropping Joshua Ross, (2-4-4) of Monroe, LA to the canvas three times enroute to a stoppage victory at the 2:25 mark of the initial stanza.
Gervonta Davis went on the road in the first defense of his IBF Junior Lightweight World Championship and made a statement with an emphatic third-round TKO of previously undefeated local favorite Liam Walsh in the opening bout of SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING from Copper Box Arena in London.
The southpaw Davis (18-0, 17 Kos) set the pace from the opening bell, connecting seemingly at will with a strong left hook. Yn y drydedd rownd, America’s youngest world champion floored Walsh with a strong left after a series of brutal connecting combos on the inside. Walsh got up, but the onslaught continued seconds later and referee Michael Alexander stopped the championship bout at 2:11, with Walsh defenseless and on unsteady legs.
Tonight we were in the groove,” Davis said. “I think he was hurt pretty bad. The ref did his job and it was just a matter of time. I used my boxing IQ tonight and picked my shots, and when I picked my shots I got him out of there.
I’m still on the rise. I became a champion super-fast, but I’m still rising and there’s more to come.
Promoter Floyd Mayweather was ringside in London to support his fighter, who he’s christenedthe future of boxing.
Walsh (21-1, 14 Kos), who entered the bout as the No. 1 challenger and the decided local favorite at Copper Box, was disappointed with the stoppage.
“Mae'n gyflym iawn, very active, but that was too quick,” Walsh said. “He won fair and square, but sometimes they stop the fight too early. I never got an opportunity. I’m not saying the result would be different, but give me a chance.
I’d love to fight him again. I’d fight him for next to nothing.

GARY RUSSELL JR.
“Dwi byth yn chwyddo digwyddiad, er ei fod gartref. Mae'r amcan terfynol yr un peth o hyd. Ond rwy'n credu ei bod hi'n cŵl bod pawb yn ein cymdogaeth yn cael cyfle i fod yn yr arena a gweld beth rydyn ni'n ei wneud.
“Rwy'n 100 y cant yn barod yn gorfforol ac yn feddyliol ar gyfer yr her ac rydw i ar ben popeth y gallaf fod.
“Pan fyddwch chi'n cael eich dal yn yr hype, mae'n ddiffyg ynoch chi'ch hun. Mae'n rhaid i chi allu canolbwyntio ar yr amcan dros bopeth arall.
“Rwy'n credu yn fy ngallu ond hefyd yng ngallu fy mrodyr. Felly dwi ddim yn nerfus amdanyn nhw. Rwy'n gwybod beth maen nhw wedi'i ddysgu. Maent yn ymddwyn fel dynion ifanc i mewn ac allan o'r cylch.
“Rwyf am gael pwl uno ar ôl hyn. Rwy'n barod ar gyfer unrhyw un o hyrwyddwyr eraill y byd. Gallwn eu leinio i gyd yn yr un noson os ydych chi eisiau. Os na allaf gael yr ymladd hynny, Rydw i'n mynd i symud i fyny mewn pwysau a bwlio o amgylch y dynion mwy hyn.
“Rwy'n edrych ar bob ymladdwr fel eu unigolyn eu hunain. Nid ydym yn paratoi'r un ffordd ar gyfer pob gwrthwynebydd. Mae'n ymladdwr caled sy'n dod ymlaen. Mae'n gorfforol iawn ac rwy'n disgwyl iddo fod ar ei orau ar ddydd Sadwrn. Mae i fyny i mi wrthweithio yr hyn y mae'n ei wneud.
“Rwyf wrth fy modd y gamp hon. Rwyf wrth fy modd yr hyn yr wyf yn ei wneud. Rwyf wrth fy modd yn gallu paratoi ar gyfer neb arall, ond y person ar draws y cylch ac yna ei ddatgymalu.
“Fe wnaethon ni weithio ar amlochredd fwyaf. Rydym yn credu yn y wyddoniaeth felys. Mae llawer o'r dynion hyn yn ennill oherwydd eu bod yn gryfach ac yn gyflymach. Rydyn ni eisiau bod yn fwy technegol gadarn hefyd.”
OSCAR ESCANDON
“Mae hon yn frwydr bwysig iawn ar gyfer fy ngyrfa. Mae hyn yn mynd i fy nyrchafu i'r lle rydw i eisiau bod a rhoi'r llwyfan i mi wneud unrhyw beth yn y gamp. Rwy'n barod iawn ar gyfer hyn.
“Rwy'n teimlo'n gryf ac yn iach ar 126-pwys. Rwy'n canolbwyntio ar yr ymladd hwn Dydd Sadwrn nos. Byddaf yn ymladd yn erbyn unrhyw un ond ar hyn o bryd mae'n rhaid i mi fynd heibio i Gary Russell Jr..
“Yn fy ymladd diwethaf fi oedd yr isdog. Roedd pobl yn fy nghyfrif allan. Mae'r un peth yn berthnasol yma. Rydw i wedi gwneud y gwaith ac rwy'n hyderus fy mod i'n mynd i ennill.
“Nid oedd gen i wersylloedd hyfforddi cyflawn gyda fy nghyn hyfforddwyr, ond nawr rydw i gyda Ruben Guerrero. Rwy'n dysgu cymaint. Gallwch edrych arnaf yn fy ymladd blaenorol a byddwch yn gweld gwelliant enfawr nawr.
“Rydw i eisiau'r gwyrdd hwnnw (CLlC) gwregys llawer. Gwyrdd yw fy hoff liw. Rwyf am fod y gorau ac i mi, mae ennill y teitl hwnnw'n arwydd mai fi yw'r gorau. I wneud hynny mae'n rhaid i mi guro'r gorau, a dyna Gary Russell Jr..
“Nid wyf yn hoffi siarad llawer ond dywedaf fy mod yn dod i ddod â'r teitl byd hwn yn ôl i Colombia. Rwy'n parchu Gary ond fy meddylfryd yw fy mod i'n mynd â'r teitl hwn adref.”
ANDRE DIRRELL
“Mae wedi bod yn daith galed hir i mi. Ond rydw i bob amser wedi llwyddo i ddringo yn ôl ar ei ben. Bydd y gwaith caled rydw i wedi'i wneud yn ei wneud Dydd Sadwrn gwaith hawdd nos.
“Mae fy ngwrthwynebydd yn ymladdwr gwych. Os dylai unrhyw un fod yn unol â theitl, y dyn hwn ydyw. Mae ganddo'r pŵer ac mae ganddo'r sgil. Rwy'n credu ei fod yn erbyn gwrthwynebydd gwell a chaletach.
“Rydw i'n mynd i fynd yn y cylch ac arddangos fy holl alluoedd. Rwy'n hyderus iawn ac yn barod. Mae'n bryd i Andre ddod ar y brig ac aros ar ben.
“Rydw i wedi bod allan o'r cylch ers tro ond yn bwysicaf oll, Rydw i wedi aros yn y gampfa wrth hyfforddi trwy'r amser. Rydw i wedi cadw'n bositif yn feddyliol hefyd. Mae popeth yn mynd i fyny ar hyn o bryd ac rydw i'n mynd i fanteisio.
“Mae gan Uzcategui bopeth sydd ei angen ar bencampwr y byd i gyrraedd y teitl hwnnw, ond mae'n wynebu cystadleuydd mwy medrus Mai 20. Mae'n haeddu'r cyfle a dyna pam y gwnes i hyfforddi mor galed ar gyfer yr ymladd hwn.
“Mae'r teitl yn golygu'r byd i mi. Rydyn ni'n ymladd am y teitlau yn gyntaf. Rydyn ni i gyd yn dod o'r amaturiaid lle cawson ni dlysau. Bydd fy nghariad bob amser yma gyda'r gamp tan y diwrnod y byddaf yn ymddeol.”
JOSE UZCATEGUI
“Nid ydych chi eisiau colli unrhyw un o'r ymladdiadau hyn ar ddydd Sadwrn nos. Mae'n gerdyn gwych ac rydw i'n bwriadu dwyn y sioe.
“Rwy'n hoffi pan fydd fy ngwrthwynebydd yn siarad llawer. Ni all unrhyw un o'r pethau y mae fy ngwrthwynebydd yn eu dweud ei helpu yn y cylch. Dim ond fi, ef a'n dyrnau.
“Mae'n llawer o gyfrifoldeb i fod y prif gystadleuydd ar gyfer y gwregys. Rhaid imi ei gwneud yn glir ein bod yn haeddu hyn fel y gallaf symud ymlaen at bethau mwy a gwell.
“Mae pobl yn mynd i gael gweld fy ngrym yn cael ei arddangos Dydd Sadwrn nos, ond hefyd fy sgiliau eraill. Gallaf wneud y cyfan yn y cylch ac rydw i'n mynd i'w brofi.
“Ar ôl hyn rydw i eisiau cyflogi James DeGale a Gilberto Ramirez. Rwy'n dod i lanhau'r rhaniad cyfan hwn a bod yn ddiamheuol. Mae'n dechrau ar ddydd Sadwrn.”
RANCES Barthélemy
“Rwy'n byw breuddwyd ar hyn o bryd na ddychmygais i fy hun erioed mewn miliwn o flynyddoedd. Bob tro dwi'n cael siarad gyda fy mam yng Nghiwba, Rwy'n dweud wrthi am y freuddwyd hon fy mod i'n byw ar hyn o bryd a sut mae'n dal i fod yn swrrealaidd i mi. Er mwyn gallu ymladd ar y cardiau mawr hyn yn yr Unol Daleithiau. ar ôl y daith hir, wedi'r holl anawsterau, Ni allwn fod yn fwy ddiolchgar.
“Mae bod yn bencampwr y byd mewn dwy adran bwysau wahanol yn rhywbeth afreal i mi o hyd ar ôl i bobl amau a fyddwn i hyd yn oed yn dod yn bencampwr y byd un diwrnod. Ond nid yw'r daith hon yn stopio yma i mi. Mae gen i'r ysfa i ddal ati, creu hanes i'm pobl, ac ymladd yr enwau mawr wrth focsio.
“Mae pawb yn fy nhîm yn cefnogi ac yn cymell ein gilydd oherwydd rydyn ni'n gwybod bod yn rhaid i ni fel Ciwbaiaid weithio ddwywaith mor galed â phawb arall. Mae cynrychiolaeth annheg o focswyr Ciwba ymhlith y wasg a chefnogwyr yma yn America. Rydym yn cael ein camddehongli fel diffoddwyr diflas felly rydym yn benderfynol o ddileu'r stigma hwnnw a phrofi i bawb y gallwn ffrwgwd a chynnal sioe dda lawn cymaint ag y gallwn ni focsio.
“Rwyf wedi bod yn gweithio ar rai pethau newydd a gwahanol i'w hychwanegu at fy arsenal y gwersyll hyfforddi hwn. Mae fy nhîm cyfan wedi bod yn anhygoel ac wedi fy ngwthio bob dydd.
“Peidiwch â cholli'r frwydr hon ar ddydd Sadwrn nos. Bydd yn gyffrous ac yn gyffrous. Rwy'n dod i gael buddugoliaeth ysblennydd.”
KIRYL RELIKH
“Rwy'n hapus iawn i fod yma a bod yn rhan o'r sioe wych hon. Fe wnaf fy ngorau i roi gornest wych ar ddydd Sadwrn.
“Roedd y gwersyll yn berffaith. Mae gen i dîm gwych ac rydw i'n barod am unrhyw beth. Fe wnaethon ni weithio'n galed ac fe fydd yn berfformiad gwych.
“Rwy'n barod am unrhyw arddull y gall Rances Barthelemy ddod â hi i'r cylch. Roeddem yn meddwl ein bod wedi cael y fuddugoliaeth yn yr Alban yn erbyn Ricky Burns, ond mae'n anodd iawn ennill ar bwyntiau ar y ffordd.
“Rwyf bob amser yn ymladd mewn gwahanol wledydd felly dim ond un arall ar fy rhestr yw hwn. Mae'n normal i mi. Rwy'n barod iawn ar gyfer yr her ac rwy'n disgwyl ymladd mawr.
“Gobeithio bod pobl yn hoffi fy steil. Rydw i'n mynd i ddifyrru'r cefnogwyr a chael buddugoliaeth dros Rances Barthelemy ar ddydd Sadwrn nos.”
GARY ANTUANNE RUSSELL
“Rwy'n cael codi'n iawn lle gadewais i ffwrdd ar ôl y Gemau Olympaidd. Rwy'n ymladd yr un noson gyda fy mrodyr am y tro cyntaf cyhyd. Roedd yn un o fy ymladd amatur cyntaf pan wnaethon ni ddiwethaf.
“Rwy'n teimlo'n wirioneddol dda. Rydyn ni'n gwneud datganiad ac rydyn ni'n creu hanes. Beth sydd ddim i fod yn gyffrous yn ei gylch?
“Yn feddyliol ac yn emosiynol fe wnaeth y Gemau Olympaidd fy helpu yn fawr ar gyfer y manteision. Mae'n rhaid i chi ddatblygu dros amser. Rydyn ni bob amser yn hyfforddi ac yn hogi ein hoffer. Mae hwn yn gam gwahanol, dyna i gyd.
“Gobeithio bod pawb yn barod amdani Dydd Sadwrn nos. Roedd rhai anffodion yn y Gemau Olympaidd. Mae bywyd yn mynd i daflu lympiau atoch chi i ddod drosodd, a dyna beth dwi'n mynd i wneud. Gwell i bawb gadw eu llygaid ar agor Dydd Sadwrn, oherwydd gallai fod yn gyflym.”
GARY ANTONIO RUSSELL
“Rwy'n gyffrous iawn am yr ymladd hwn ac yn cystadlu ochr yn ochr â'm brodyr. Mae'n teimlo'n dda dod adref ac ymladd. Bydd fy nheulu a ffrindiau yn yr adeilad.
“Ni allaf aros i gyrraedd y cylch a dangos yr hyn yr ydym wedi bod yn gweithio mor galed arno. Mae'r holl oriau yn y gampfa gyda fy nhad a'm brodyr yn mynd i dalu ar ei ganfed ar noson ymladd.
“Rwyf wedi gweld rhywfaint o fideo o fy ngwrthwynebydd. Rwy'n gwybod ei wendidau a'i gryfderau. Rydyn ni'n mynd i ddod i'w ecsbloetio ar noson ymladd.”
SR GARY RUSSELL., Tad a Hyfforddwr y Russells
“Rydyn ni'n gweithio'n galed yn y gampfa. Mae gan bawb gynllun nes iddyn nhw gael eu taro. Rydyn ni'n gwybod ei fod yn mynd i ddod â phwysau a byddwn ni'n barod amdano.
“Rwy'n hapus iawn am y cyfle hwn. Gallwn gyflawni'r cyfan mewn un noson a chynnal sioe wych i bawb.
“Rwy'n bendant yn y modd ymladd. Nid oes unrhyw nerfau ychwanegol o gwbl. Rwyf am wneud hyn a gwneud pethau'n iawn.
“Ni allaf roi Escandon yn yr un categori â'r dynion gorau yr ydym wedi'u hwynebu. Mae'n ymladdwr byr. Mae'r rhan fwyaf o bobl yn y dosbarthiadau pwysau hyn yn dalach na Gary. Ar y maint hwnnw, yr unig ffordd y gallwch ymladd yw yn syml. Dyw e ddim yn mynd allan i focsio ni.”
RUBEN GUERRERO, Hyfforddwr Escandon
“Rydyn ni'n barod yma. Rydyn ni'n mynd i wneud yr hyn sydd ei angen. Rydym yn gwybod beth rydym yn ei erbyn. Mae'n un o'r goreuon. Byddwn yn profi pwy yw'r gorau ar ddydd Sadwrn. Mae hyn yn mynd i ddod i lawr i ryfel. Mae Gary yn gwybod beth mae'n mynd yn ei erbyn.
“Cynorthwyais Escandon i sefydlu gwersyll yn Las Vegas ar gyfer yr ymladd hwn oherwydd roedd hwn yn gyfle enfawr. Roedden ni i fyny yn y mynyddoedd a dyna lle roeddwn i eisiau iddo. Mae'n mynd i fod yn wych ar noson ymladd. Bydd yn barod i fynd. Nid yw'n hawdd hyfforddi yn Vegas.
“Rydyn ni'n dod i ennill. Ni allwn reoli'r beirniaid ond rydym yn gwybod eu bod yn deg. Rydyn ni'n disgwyl ysgwyd teg. Rydyn ni'n mynd i reoli'r hyn y gallwn ni.”

LONDON (Mai 18, 2017) - Pencampwr Byd Pwysau Iau Iau IBF Gervonta Davis, undefeated Dim. 1 cymerodd y cystadleuydd Liam Walsh a'r hyrwyddwr Floyd Mayweather sesiwn jarring yn ystod Dydd Iau cynhadledd i'r wasg olaf yng Ngwesty Landmark yn Llundain ddeuddydd o'r blaen Dydd Sadwrn gwrthdaro teitl y byd ar SHOWTIME o Copper Box Arena.

Davis’s “Tank” Davis, Pencampwr byd ieuengaf America, yn ceisio dod yr Americanwr cyntaf i amddiffyn ei deitl ar bridd Prydain yn llwyddiannus mewn bron i ddegawd *, tra Walsh (21-0, 14 Kos) yn anelu at ddadwneud y dyn bod Mayweather wedi bedyddio “dyfodol bocsio.” (*Nodyn: Paulie Malignaggi vs.. Lovemore Ndou i mewn 2008)

Davis vs. Mae Walsh yn rhan o safle hollt, telecast BOXING CHAMPIONSHIP pedwar-ymladd SHOWTME sy'n dechrau ddydd Sadwrn, Mai 20, yn 6 p.m. A/3 p.m. PT. Yn y prif ddigwyddiad, Gary Russell Jr. Bydd yn gwneud ei ail amddiffyniad teitl pwysau plu a'i gartref hir-ddisgwyliedig yn erbyn yr heriwr gorfodol Oscar Escandon yn fyw o Harbwr Cenedlaethol MGM ychydig y tu allan i Washington, D.C.

Davis, 22 oed, sydd wedi ennill trwy guro i mewn 16 o'i 17 ymladd proffesiynol, yn gwneud yr amddiffyniad cyntaf o'r gwregys IBF i ennill trwy KO dros Jose Pedraza a oedd heb ei guro o'r blaen ym mis Ionawr. Mae'r Walsh, sy'n 30 oed, wedi ennill trwy guro mewn tri o'i bedwar pwl olaf a bydd yn ffefryn lleol penderfynol mewn Arena Blwch Copr disgwyliedig sydd wedi'i werthu allan..

Trodd yr hyrwyddwr mawr punt-am-bunt Mayweather a dau frawd Walsh, cyd-ymladdwyr proffesiynol Michael a Ryan, arwain y jarring yn ystod Dydd Iau dathliadau gyda Mayweather yn honni “Rydw i 40 mlwydd oed a byddaf yn cicio pob un o'ch tri asyn yn yr un noson. ”

Ni chafodd Tîm Walsh “ei ddychryn un darn bach” gan Mayweather na Tank, tra addawodd y depaw Davis “Ar ddydd Sadwrn noson byddwch chi ar eich asyn. Ac yna gall eich brodyr fynd i mewn nesaf. ”

Isod mae uchafbwyntiau o'r hyn oedd gan y cyfranogwyr i'w ddweud ar ddydd Iau:

GERVONTA DAVIS:

“Rydw i ar lefel hollol wahanol. Rwy'n gwybod eu bod wedi eich adeiladu'n dda, ond rydych chi wedi cael eich gollwng o'r blaen. Maen nhw wedi bod yn eich amddiffyn chi rhag y pŵer, felly dwi'n gwybod nad oes gennych ên. Ar ddydd Sadwrnnoson byddwch chi ar eich asyn. Ac yna gall eich brodyr fynd i mewn nesaf.

“Peidiwch â rhedeg Dydd Sadwrn nos.

“Rydw i newydd fod yn ceisio aros pennawd gwastad. Mae cael y gwregys hwnnw yn dod â mi gymaint â hynny'n agosach at yr hyn rydw i eisiau ei wneud - i gymryd drosodd y gamp o focsio. Gyda'r perfformiad a roddais ar ddydd Sadwrn nos bydd yn dod â mi gam yn nes at fod yn seren y bocsio ac yn dilyn ar ôl Floyd Mayweather.

“Mae cael Floyd yn fy nghornel yn rhoi llawer o hyder i mi. Mae Floyd wedi bod yn eithaf ymarferol gyda mi, mae wedi bod yn codi a hyfforddi a rhedeg gyda mi. Fo oedd fy arwr yn y gamp o focsio yn dod i fyny felly mae ei gael yn fy nghornel nawr yn anhygoel.

“Enillais y gwregys a nawr fy ffocws yw cymryd drosodd y gamp.

“Yn tyfu i fyny yn Baltimore, mae ganddo gyfradd droseddu uchel. Mae wedi bod yn anodd. Mae'r lle rydw i o'r gampfa yn y cwfl. Oni bai am y gampfa, byddwn i naill ai yn y carchar neu'n farw. Nid dyna'r hyn yr wyf am fod. Fe arbedodd paffio fy mywyd. ”

LIAM WALSH:

“Rydw i bob amser yn hyderus. Fel y dywedais lawer gwaith, roedd ei berfformiad yn erbyn Pedraza yn dda iawn. Rwy'n ei gymeradwyo. Tanc yw'r ymladdwr gorau i mi ddod yn ei erbyn yn fy ngyrfa hyd yn hyn, ond fi hefyd yw'r ymladdwr gorau y bydd yn dod yn ei erbyn yn ei yrfa hyd yn hyn. Felly mae'n ymladd mawr.

“Mae e’n gorfforol dda iawn. Mae'n gyflym iawn, pwerus iawn. Mae'n dyrnwr da a pherfformiodd y tu hwnt i'w flynyddoedd yn erbyn Pedraza. Ni allwch guro ei berfformiad o gwbl, ond mae yna lawer o gwestiynau o hyd y mae'n rhaid iddo eu hateb.

“Nid yw safiad y de yn effeithio gormod arnaf. Gallaf newid rhwng y ddau. Rwy'n gyffyrddus yn y ddau safiad fel nad yw hynny'n fy mhoeni.

“Dw i ddim yn credu y galla i ei roi mewn geiriau beth fyddai’n ei olygu i ennill y teitl. Mae wedi bod yn freuddwyd i mi ers pan oeddwn i'n blentyn bach. Y teimlad, yr emosiwn, Ni allaf ei roi mewn geiriau. Dyma noson fwyaf fy mywyd.

“Yn bendant mae yna ddiffygion yn ei gêm ac maen nhw yno i mi eu hecsbloetio. Rwy'n bwriadu manteisio ar ei gamgymeriadau. Pan oeddwn yn 22, yn bendant, gwnaethpwyd camgymeriadau na fyddwn yn eu gwneud nawr. Felly efallai mai dyma'r amser perffaith i'w ymladd.

“Dydw i ddim wedi dychryn un darn bach. Nid gan Floyd, nid gan Tanc, nid gan unrhyw un.

“Rwy’n rhagweld y byddaf yn ennill yr ornest. Ni fyddwn yn synnu pe bawn yn ennill trwy guro, Ni fyddwn yn synnu pe bawn yn ennill ar bwyntiau. Ni fyddwch yn fy ngweld yn dathlu fel dyn gwallgof os byddaf yn bwrw Tank allan oherwydd fy mod yn gwybod fy mod yn gallu. "

FLOYD Mayweather:

“Nid un perfformiad yn unig mohono. Mae'n cymryd mwy nag un perfformiad yn unig. Credwn yn wirioneddol y gall fod yn ymladdwr gwych, ond daeth yn ei ornest olaf gyda dim ond 16 ymladd a churo'r pencampwr. Rydyn ni'n gwybod nad yw'n mynd i orwedd. Mae gan y plentyn hwn ddeinameit yn ei ddwy law. Os bydd yn dal i fynd allan yno gan guro diffoddwyr gwych ni ellir ei wadu.

“Pan mae ei oleuadau, camera, gweithredu a'r gloch yn canu, 17 amseroedd y daeth allan yn fuddugol a 16 trwy (knockout).

“Mae ei dîm yn gwneud gwaith rhyfeddol, ond fy ngwaith i fel ffrind a ffigwr tad yw dweud wrtho am ddod i Vegas i gael y gwaith gorau iddo. Roeddem am iddo gael gwahanol edrychiadau. We want guys that were going to push him, give him different styles.

“This kid, he busts his ass day in and day out. We’re going to continue to go out there and do what we do.

“I already conquered your country once (with Ricky Hatton) and now we’re going to conquer it again ar ddydd Sadwrn.

“I don’t miss being in the gym at all. If I can push this fighter to surpass me and break every record, that’s a goal of mine. That’s what we’re here to do. Mae cofnodion yn cael eu gwneud i gael ei dorri.

“I remember when I met Tank on the Canelo (Alvarez) press tour and he asked to take a photo with me. When I took a photo with him I said, ‘there’s something about that kid that looks special.’

“He came to my gym and put in some real good work and I reached out to him and said, ‘whatever it takes to work with you and get you to the next level, let’s make it happen.’ I told him, ‘if you listen to me and continue to work hard I truly believe you can be world champion within 24 mis.’ And that’s just one stepping stone. As of right now he’s one of the only fighters in boxing facing back-to-back undefeated fighters.

“Frank Warren, Liam Walsh, we just want to commend you guys for stepping up to the plate and making this fight happen and giving the fans what they want to see. The fans want to see blood, sweat and tears.

“Tank is always in tremendous fights, he’s a big knockout artist. I truly believe in my man, and I want to work with him until the end of his career.”
