FORMER IBF WORLD CHAMPION JONATHAN “SALOMON KING” GUZMAN SIGNS WITH EL MATADOR MANAGEMENT

QUEENS, NY (May 15th, 2018) – La Management Matador, Inc. has announced the signing of hard hitting super bantamweight contender, Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman (23-1, 22 KO’s). Felipe Gomez will now be managing the career of hard hitting and former IBF World Super Bantamweight Champion Guzman, who hails from Santo Domingo, Dominican Respubliko. Gomez will be working closely with Sampson Lewkowicz (Guzman’ Varbanto) as they jointly look to keep Guzman busy, while guiding him back toward a world title.

 

 

 

Guzman won the IBF World Super Bantamweight Title with an 11-round stoppage over Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KO’s) En Japanio. Guzman then defended his title against Yukinori Oguni (18-1-1, 8 KO’s) in Kyoto, Japan losing a 12-round unanimous decision.

Brand-New IBF Junior Featherweight Champion Jonathan Guzman to be Ringside Friday at Foxwoods

IBF Junior Featherweight Champion Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman (22-0, 22 KOs) won’t be taking any time to rest on his newly acquired laurels.
The Dominican KO artist won his first world championship yesterday (Merkredo, Julio 20) by stopping former #1 contender Shingo Wake in 11 brutal rounds in Osaka, Japanio. Guzman’s power was simply too much for Wake, who fell four times before the end came at 2:16 from merciful referee Wayne Hedgpeth.
The iron-fisted Dominican could easily spend the rest of the summer celebrating the victory, but has no intention to do so.

IBF #2 super bantamweight contender Jonathan “Salomon King” Guzman (21-0, 21 KOs) is hard at work preparing for the “fight of his life” with trainer Hector Bermudez at Peter Welch’s Gym in Boston.
The 26-year-old KO artist from Santo Domingo, Dominican Respubliko, will face IBF #1 contender Shingo Wake (20-4-2, 12 KOs) Sur Merkredo, Julio 20, at EDION Arena Osaka in Osaka, Japanio, for the vacant IBF World super bantamweight title.

Sampson Boxing Fighters Score Four Impressive KOs in One Weekend
Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz has been given the go-ahead to begin negotiating a world-title fight between his fighter, explosive KO punching Dominican Jonathan Guzman, and the promoters for Japan’s Shingo Wake.
As per their rules for vacant championships, Lewkowicz, representing Guzman, the IBF #2 Ekstra bantamweight, and Kyoei Promotions representing IBF #1 Wake were ordered to begin negotiations immediately and have them completed no later than Junio 2 de tiu jaro.

We would then move to the next available contender. Neither fighter can take another fight until this fight for the vacant title is concluded.”
In the event the camps cannot reach an agreement by Junio 2, the IBF will call for purse offers to be held to determine who will promote the bout, when and where it will be held.
The Guzman vs. Wake fight is more good news for Sampson Boxing, who had four different fighters score sensational victories over the weekend.
In addition to the aforementioned Guzman TKO, Sampson Boxing’s Jorge “Pilon” Lara scored a jaw-dropping KO 1 over former world champion Fernando Montiel at the StubHub Center in Carson, Kalifornio, Sabate. Lara had the formidable Montiel on the deck four times in a brutal beatdown that only lasted 1:37.
The same night in the same venue, future world champion and boxing prodigy David “El Bandera Roja/Red Flag” Benavidez destroyed capable New Yorker Phillip Jackson Benson by KO 2. Benavidez, Nun 14-0, 13 KOs, had way too much firepower for Jackson, who entered the ring a respectable 16-2, 15 KOs. Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz of Sampson Boxing proudly announces the IBF has agreed to sanction a super bantamweight voluntary elimination fight between their #7 contender Jonathan Guzman and #14, Daniel Rosas for the #2 position in their ratings.
Under the IBF rules criteria, two of the top five available contenders can compete in a voluntary elimination fight for the second-highest spot in the ratings. Guzman (20-0, 20 KOs) from Santo Domingo, Dominican Respubliko, and Rosas (20-2-1, 12 KOs) from Mexico City, are Sampson Boxing promotional stablemates. (Oktobro, 10 2015) – Brooklyn welterweight Gabriel “Tito” Bracero(24-2, 5 KOs) came into hostile territory and knocked out hometown favorite Danny “Bhoy” O'Connor (26-3, 10 KOs) nur 41 seconds into the first round, headlining tonight’s loaded Superegaj Boksaj #?ampiono (PBC) Sur NBCSN card at historic Lowell Memorial Auditorium in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Bracero, who handed O’Connor his first pro loss four years ago, used an overhand right that O’Connor, fighting out of nearby Framingham (MA) did not see coming. O’Connor was out cold before he hit the mat.
“I worked on that punch for six weeks,” Bracero said after the fight. “In my last fight, I fought a southpaw and made some mistakes. I specifically worked on that punch because Danny’s a southpaw. I slipped to the side and threw the right. This was the first time I went away to camp, away from my family.
“I’m just so humbled and grateful. I knew coming in here that all the pressure was on him (O'Connor); the crowd would try to take the beast out of me and put me on the defense.
Everything is going to work out (regarding his next fight). I’ll let Tommy Gallagher KajLou DiBella take care of my next fight. I’m ready to go right back in the gym.”
O’Connor was taken by ambulance to the nearby Lowell General Hospital for observation.

LOWELL, Amaso. (10/9/15) – Sabate Nokto, Irish world-rated contender Patrick Hyland (30-1, 14 KOs) faces David Martinez on the undercard of the PBC on NBCSN event from Lowell, Amaso. The fight won’t be shown on television, Hyland views this is the most important fight of his career as he works his way back into world title contention.
La bout Sabate night will be the first in a career that dates back to his days as a 9-year-old amateur in Ireland where his trainer, father and best friend Patrick Sr. will not be in his corner. Patrick Sr., better known as Paddy, tragically passed away in the spring of this year. Leaving the Irish boxing community shocked.
“I hear his voice in the back of my head every day. Every day. Especially in the gym though when I am training,” said Hyland Jr.
The loss of Hyland’s father came just weeks before Hyland’s wife Lorna gave birth to their first child, Callum, further adding to the significance of this fight.
“I challenged Javier Fortuna for the world championship,” said Hyland. “I won the Irish world title. I have fought at MGM Grand, the O2 Arena and Madison Square Garden. For me though, this is the most important fight of my career. Not only am I fighting for my newborn son, but I am fighting to keep my father’s legacy alive. He made me the man that I am today and the man that I want my son to one day become. Winning a world title was our dream that we had together. He was always pushing me and my brothers to be the absolute best that we can be, and I won’t stop until I get another crack at a world title.”
La bout Sabate night will be Hyland’s fourth since the lone loss of his career, a highly entertaining 12-round decision for the interim featherweight title against now-reigning super featherweight champion Javier Fortuna. Following the loss to Fortuna, Hyland was out of action for a year and a half, as he sorted through promotional issues. Hyland signed with DiBella Entertainment in June of 2014 and has since put together three impressive victories. Hyland believes that he will be knocking on the door to challenge for another world title in 2016.
“I have a great team behind me. My manager Brian Peters and promoter Lou DiBella are working hard,” continued Hyland. “As long as I continue to win and do what I need to do, I know they will get me the opportunity to prove myself and show that I am one of the best 126-pounders in the world. 2016 is going to be a big year for me and I fully expect to once again be challenging for a piece of the featherweight crown.”
