Tony Lopez, Jr. plans to get back into bantamweight mix by defeating unbeaten prospectThe Baby-Faced AssassinMax Ornelas

MAX ORNELAS vs. TONY LOPEZ
Vacant WBA NABA United States Bantamweight Championship
Samedi nuit, Avril 20, 2018 ● Cox Pavilion ● Las Vegas, Nevada
Avril 20 on beIN Sports live from Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (Avril 4, 2018) – Mexican bantamweight Tony Lopez, Jr. (13-3, 4 KOs) believes an impressive victory April 20th over his Roy Jones Jr., Promotions de boxe (JJR) stablemate, unbeaten bantamweight prospectThe Baby-Faced AssassinMax Ornelas (10-0-1, 4 KOs), will get him back in the mix.

Ornelas vs. Lopez, Jr., presented RJJ Boxing Promotions, will air live on beIN Sports, à partir de 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, from Cox Pavilion on the University of Nevada at Las Vegas campus.

The vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Association nord-américaine de boxe (Aussi) USA bantamweight title will be on the line in the eight-round main event.

A UNLV sophomore who lives in Las Vegas, the 19-year-old Ornelas is ranked by the World Boxing Association (WBA) au n °. 14 dans le monde. “I’ve had several fights where my role was reversed, and I was fighting in my hometown in front of my fans, friends and family,” Dallas resident Lopez, Jr. spoke about fighting Ornelas on the road. “I wanted to put on a show and they were screaming like crazy before the opening bell. Once the fight started, bien que, I didn’t see or hear them. It was just me and my opponent. I’ve fought in Las Vegas a few times and I’m comfortable fighting him (Ornelas) là. I understand that this is part of my job, a requirement, regardless of fighting him in his hometown. I like pressure.

Lopez, Jr. was born in Mexico, but he’s lived nearly his entire life in Texas. Son père,Tony Lopez, Sr., was an ex-fighter from Mexico who got his son into boxing when he was six. Maintenant, Lopez, Jr. fights for Roy Jones, Jr.

It’s surreal,” the rugged southpaw admitted. “I’m fighting for a living legend, arguably one of the greatest boxers of all time. Il me connaît, he’s seen me fight. It’s an honor to wear his gear, not only as a fan of his, but to represent his company. It’s one of the coolest things in this business.

Ornelas is also promoted by RJJ Boxing Promotions and they’ve fought together on two RJJ cards. They’re familiar with each other and, if styles truly make great fights, this one could turn out to be an instant classic.

“Il est (max) a very clean fighter, by the books, not wanting to get into scrapes,” the 24-year-old Lopez spoke about his opponent. “He strides and moves, not looking to bang or exchange. He likes to fight on the outside, using his size and length. He’s fast but doesn’t have a lot of power. It’s hit and not get hit for him. He has a lot of holes and me being the more experienced fighter, I plan to expose some of those holes.

Back in May of 2016, I fought and undefeated opponent, Jerren Cochran (11-0-1), and I knew it was an audition for Roy and RJJ. I came out in a full attack mode because I wanted to make a statement. ((Lopes knocked our Cochran in the second round.) I’m looking to make another statement this time around by fighting like I did earlier in my career.

“Je suis plus rapide, stronger and have better head movement than him. I’m still young but I have more life experience than him (Ornelas). I’m still young, seulement 24, but I have more experience than him going into this fight. I’ve fought a former world champion (Rico Ramos). I’m part of a new team and my FHG Gloves teammates are John Vera, who just fought for a world title, et Edwin Vasquez. An impressive victory will put me right back in the mix for a big Saturday night fight for an even bigger title.

Unbeaten World Boxing Council (WBC) United States welterweight champion Pince-monseigneur “Quiet Storm” Williams (14-0-1, 5 KOs), a former college football player from New Haven, Connecticut, tangles with Houston’s Marquis Taylor (8-1, 0 KOs) dans les huit rondes, co-featured event..

Abduraimov won a bronze medalist at the 2015 World Amateur Championships, as well as gold at the 2015 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships.

HanzelRude Boy” Martinez (23-2, 19 KOs) visages Emmanuel Quartey (20-2, 19 KOs) in the 10-round main event for the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) International super bantamweight championship.
Dans la co-métrage de 10 rounds, Lopez, Jr. (11-1, 4 KOs) squares off against unbeaten Young (14-0-3, 6 KOs) for the vacant WBA North American Boxing Association (Aussi) bantamweight title.
The 22-year-old Lopez, se battre hors de Dallas, is coming off of a jaw-dropping second-round stoppage of Jerren Cochran this past May at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. The former WBC Youth Intercontinental bantamweight champion is rated No. 7 by the NABA.
I remember growing up and watching all the greats as a young kid and thinking that’s going to be me someday,” Lopez a dit. “Thanks to RJJ, Neon Star and CBS Sports Network that dream is a reality. I’m a small town kid living out my dreams; I’m on the right path and the journey I am on is something big.
Despite his opponent having an advantage in terms of their comparative amateur backgrounds, Lopez doesn’t feel that will be a factor in their fight, which he predicts will be very exciting.
Amateurs are a different ball game,” Lopez commented. “It gave us knowledge and experience but at the end of the day, our records are just numbers. I don’t look at the numbers or the fighter, I’m only going to look at the fight because my job is to get in the ring and bring home the win.
I’m a versatile fighter; if I have to brawl, I brawl but I can adjust to whatever I see fit. It’s going to be an exciting fight because I have everything I need to win. I’m a lot smarter in the ring and I’m coming to get the win.
NABA rated No. 2 Jeune, 27, is a southpaw with a rich amateur pedigree background having compiled an 86-13 record, including a silver-medal performance at the 2011 Championnats nationaux Golden Gloves.
I don’t really know too much about Lopez,” Young remarked. “I know he’s from Texas and he’s 11-1, which means he already know what it feels like to lose. He’s a decent fighter but nothing I can’t handle. I can fight any style, but one thing for sure and two for certain, whichever style I choose to fight will be a good showing. I’m coming to WIN!”
All three of his draws were fought on the road, including his last fight this past April at Turning Stone Casino in Verona, New York, in which he and 14-0 Nikolay Potapovbattled evenly for 10 tours. Cependant, Young doesn’t appear to be overly concerned about fighting on the B side against an RJJ opponent.
I really don’t worry about getting a win by decision,” Young explained. “I just feel like I will have to do a little more just to make it a one-way fight. And if the KO comes, I will love that.
Las Vegas junior lightweight Randy Moreno (4-0, 2 KOs), a2008 World Ringside Championships gold medalist, will make his national television debut in a 4-round bout against an opponent to be announced.
In the third title fight of the night, undefeated WBA-NABA USA super welterweight champion Jean “Le Phenom” Vera (14-0, 9 KOs) fait sa première défense de titre contreMiloradMickoZizic (12-1, 6 KOs) dans un combat de huit rondes.
In keeping with its philosophy to showcase demain stars now, especially those from the talent- rich Las Vegas market, this installment of “Knockout Night at the D” will also see in action undefeated prospects such as welterweight Jérémie “J-FlashNichols (5-0, 2 KOs) and 18-year-old bantamweight max “Baby Face” Ornelas (4-0, 2 KOs).
