Gilberto Ramirez hunting undefeated Russian light heavyweight world champions

“Zurdo” targets Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol

Las Vegas (Marso 31, 2021) – Former world super middleweight championGilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (41-0, 27 Kos) is on the hunt and his targets are undefeated RussiansArtur Beterbiev atDmitry Bivol, buong galang, the reigning WBC/IBF and WBA Super light heavyweight World champions.

The 29-year-old Ramirez, who recently signed an exclusive promotional contract withOscar de la Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, is currently ranked No. 4 at Walang. 5, buong galang, by the WBA and WBO.

Ramirez was unimpressed by Beterbiev’s recent fight and he wonders where Bivol has been the past 1 ½ taon, because he hasn’t been in the ring.

In his first fight in 519 araw (Oktubre. 12, 2019), Beterbiev showed signs of rust and possibly age (36) during his 10ika round technical knockout of his relatively unknown German opponentAdam Deines (19-2-1, 10 Kos).  Ngayon, Beterbiev is talking about next fighting the winner of the April 10ika Joe Smith, JR. (26-3, 21 Kos) laban saMaxim Vlasov (45-3, 26 Kos) sa Abril 10ika for the vacant WBO 175-pound division title. Vlasov, hindi sinasadya, was defeated by Ramirez via a 10-round unanimous decision in 2015.

“I expected a lot more from him (Beterbiev),” Ramirez talked about Beterbiev’s fight with Deines. “I thought he looked flat and dull for the majority of the fight. It’s nice of him to temporarily hold my belts, but he should know that I’m coming for all the hardware and will bring the titles back to my people in Mexico.”

Bivol hasn’t thrown a punch during a fight in 17 na buwan, since winning a 12-round unanimous decision againstLenin Castillo.  Instead of returning against a “name” fighter in defense of his WBA Super title, Bivol will be returning May 1st in London against somebody namedCraig “Spider” Richards 16-1-1, 9 Kos), the WBA No. 8-rated light heavyweight who has never fought outside the United Kingdom.

“I’ve always said Dmitry Bivol was the toughest challenge out there,” Ramirez added, “which is why I want to make this fight happen. I know he’s got a fight coming up and hopefully he stays undefeated so we can make the mega-fight this summer.”

“Zurdo” is on the hunt

JOE SMITH JR. PROVIDED EARLY FIREWORKS WITH 1ST ROUND KO WIN AT MOHEGAN SUN

TARGETING SERGEY KOVALEV TITLE SHOT IN THE FALL
SLUGFEST AT THE SUNRESULTS

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (Hulyo 1, 2018) – Returning to the ring after an 11-month layoff due to a broken jaw, Joe “Ang hayop” Magpanday, JR. provided early fireworks last night (Sabado, Hunyo 30) in the latest installment in the popular Slugfest at The Sun serye, presented by Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing, sa Mohegan Sun Arena sa Uncasville, Connecticut.

Slugfest at The Sunwas taped live and will air Hulyo 19, 8 -10 p.m. AT, sa New England Sports Network (NESN). Star Boxing’s next event, “Rockin’ fights”,Setyembre 21 at the Paramount in Huntington, NY, will also air via tape- delay on NESN.

Rated No. 3 at Walang. 7 sa mundo, buong galang, sa pamamagitan ng World Boxing Council (WBC) and World Boxing Association (WBA), Magpanday (24-2, 20 Kos) hurt Melvin “The Romantic Redneck” Russell (11-5-2, 7 Kos) with the first punch he landed and finished the show, two devastating knockdowns later, sa opening round.

I hit him with a decent shot when I was walking him down and saw that I hurt him,” Joe Smith Jr. explained. “Kaya, I looked to end it. I would have liked to have gotten some rust off, but I’m happy with my performance. My jaw feels great.

We’re looking to go to the top,” Smith’s promoter Joe DeGuardia naglalagay. “Joe’s plan and goal has always been to be world champion. We wanted (Sergey) Kovalev before this fight, but it didn’t work out. We’re hoping to get him in the fall.

Kovalev looks great, he motivates me,” Smith noted. “I think I can take advantage of his conditioning.

Coming off her historic fight this past May against the undefeated Queen of Boxing Cecelia Breakhus, who won a 10-round decision in the first female fight to air on HBO, three-time world champion KaliKO MequinonoagReis (14-7-1, 4 Kos) cruised past Mexican welterweight PattyLas Elegante” Ramirez (11-6, 5 Kos), isang dating mundo pamagat nagdududa, winning all eight rounds.

She was a survivor,” Reis commented. “There was a lot we wanted to work on, body shots, jabs and moregetting more comfortable. I executed the plan my corner gave me and got the job done.

A Native American from Rhode Island, Reis wants a rematch with Breakhus, “I know I need to stay busy, active and remain fighting at welterweight to get the rematch,” Reis added. “I’m going to stay on her tail. I’ll be ready when it happens, I really want it to happen.

In the television opener, undefeated junior welterweight “Aksyon” Anthony Laureano (8-0 3KO’s) lived up to his nickname, never taking a backwards step, as he pounded Juan Rodriguez (8-10-1 6KO’s) in the center of the ring from the opening bell through the end for a dominant six-round unanimous decision. Ang 2016 New England Golden Gloves champion Laureano, who fights out of East Hartford, CT, put on an entertaining show in front of his large, loud contingent of fans. Laureano effectively used every punch in his vast arsenal to break down a tough, game Rodriguez.

I thought I did well,” Laureano said after the fight, “but I’d like to see more angles. I want to see more power, masyado. It’s there, he felt it; it’s coming. I have a long road. Susunod na paglaban, I’d like to have an eight-rounder. We’re adding more people to the team. I hope everyone see that I’m getting better each fight. I have more tools and my discipline is there.

Undefeated junior middleweight WendyHaitian FireToussaint (9-0, 3 Kos) lit up an overwhelmed Andy Gonzalez (6-3, 5 Kos), battering him from pillar to post, until referee Steve Willis waved off the fight in the third round. Haiti-native Toussaint, now living in Huntington, NY, used his superior power and speed to make an impressive statement.

Popular South Boston southpaw Joe Farina (3-0, 2 Kos) overcame a flash knockdown during the opening seconds of the fight, using a relentless attack to defeat junior welterweight Steve Moore (1-4, 1 KO), by way of a four-round split decision.

Irish junior welterweightLethalLarry Fryers (formerly known as Gleeson) pinabuting kanyang record sa 7-1 (2 Kos) with a six-round unanimous decision over Anthony Woods (1-7-1). The opening bout of the evening ended in the second round and ruled a “Walang Contest” because of an accidental head butt that left both fightersWilliam “Ang Tahimik mamamatay-tao” Foster III (8-0, 6 Kos) at Tyrome Jones (4-3-1, 1 KO) – with serious head cuts and unable to continue.

Fighting out of nearby Cranston, Ri, Reis (13-7-1, 4 Kos) will face former world title challenger PattyLa Elegante” Ramirez (11-5, 5 Kos), ng Mexico, sa isang walong-round welterweight bout.

Reis vs. Ramirez is the co-featured bout on theSLUGFEST AT THE SUN kard, presented by JOE DEGUARDIA’S STAR BOXING, sa Mohegan Sun Arena sa Uncasville, Connecticut.

Reis is coming off a historic fight last month versus undisputed women’s world welterweight champion and pound-4-pound Queen, 33-0 Cecilia Braekhus, in the first female bout ever featured on HBO. Reis dropped Braekhus for the first time in her professional career, however the judges scored the fight in favor of Braekhus, over ruckus boo’s from the crowd.

Sa pangunahing kaganapan, after eleven months out of the ring due to a broken jaw, ang “Common Man”, Union Local 66 laborer, Joe Smith Jr. returns at the beautiful Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. After coming off a stellar KO win on NBC against Andrzej Fonfara, and knocking out the legend, Bernard Hopkins, clear out of the ring, sa HBO, Smith Jr. has his eyes set on winning a world title. Smith Jr. is currently rated #3 (WBC) at #7 (WBA) sa mundo.

QUOTES AND PHOTOS FROM TODAY’S MEDIA WORKOUT:

I’m so excited to be back fighting at home, especially after our history making fight on HBO. I fought Cecilia Braekhus. We were the first women to ever fight on HBO and there were more than a million viewers. If I knew that many people would be watching, I would have been a lot more nervous.

“Sa papel, it was a loss, but it was really a win-win for me, and women’s boxing. It’s already opened a lot of doors for me. There’s been so much growth for me and women’s boxing. It’s going to open the door for other women to fight on networks. It was a step up for women’s boxing, not just for one event, but forever.

I’m the first female Native American to fight in New England.

I’ve been fighting 18 taon. I played basketball and volleyball in high school, but I love boxing.

I showed in my last fight that I belong to be with the elite. I want to get a rematch (with Braekhus).”

Being a road warrior, I’m familiar fighting away or at home, but it’s more comfortable fighting here at home. My hometown crowd is always very supportive.

“(Sabado) I am going to come out with a victory. My opponent’s taller, but I just need to follow the game plan and execute.

When commenting on her upcoming fight, Reis had this to say, “Fans can expect to see an even more determined, skilled, gutom, evolving WARRIOR in there! The fight on HBO with Braekhus was such a learning experience and I am grateful for making history in not only women’s boxing but my own personal journey as well.

The people are coming to pay money and they are going to get what they paid for. Even in my last fight, people got what they paid for. They came to see action and to see somebody come forward. They don’t want to see nobody dancing around. I’m not saying that style is bad, I can do it too, but people like two guys who come forward and want to fight. I’m that fighter. I’m that fighter that always wants to fight.

This bout against Rodriguez will mark the third time in his career that Laureano is fighting at Mohegan Sun.

When asked about the venue, this is what Laureano had to say, “I love MoheganMohegan is my home. There is no place like it. I love the ring, everything is just so beautiful. The atmosphere, the crowd, my hometown crowd is there, and when they’re there it’s loudMohegan is my home, walang duda. The casino treats me good, and when I go there I feel this is where I belong. There is a lot of talent in New England and that’s why we have so many Connecticut fighters on this card. I want the fighters here to understand the importance of a press conference. They will gain valuable experience speaking in public and being interviewed by the media. One of the primary reasons we’re promoting is to give young fighters a platform to box and prepare them for their pro careers.
A.J. Rivera, RPE President/Matchmaker: “The support we’ve received has been tremendous and we exceeded expectations in our first year. This is just the begining for RPE. We’re going to get better this year. We’re not satisfied just being a small promotional company. Boxing is the loneliest sport in the world and these boxers need fanssupport. There’s a lot of talent in New England and much of it is concentrated in Connecticut. We have more Connecticut fighters on this card than fighters from Massachusetts.
Richard Rivera: “Ito ay isang malaking pagkakataon para sa akin. Rivera Promotions accomplished so much in its first year. I fought in the co-main twice of two previous RPE shows I fought on. This is going to be an awesome show, not just the main event. There are competitive boxers up and down the card. Huwag magpikit, don’t go to the bathroom because any one of these fights could end at any time.
This is a big step up for my career. Boxing is my passion. We’re both coming to fight. Manalo, lose or draw we’ll see who the Alpha dog is at the end. “I’m ‘Popeye The Sailor Man’, and I’m good to the finish because I eat my spinach.
Kevin Cobbs: “I respect Rivera and believe in what I hear. He seems like a good dude. I’m excited about this fight. A lot of people weren’t sure about what I was doing because I hadn’t fought sa loob ng dalawang taon kapag nakuha ko ang tawag (to fight Rivera). Boxing took me out of the space was in and I never stopped boxing. This is going to be a big year for the Rivera’s. I like to switch it up and I’m ready to go.
Bobby Harris, III: “My opponent wants to redeem his brother’s loss to me. I want to thank RPE for putting me in the co-feature in only my third pro fight. My first two fights were a learning experience and this fight I’m looking to make a statement to showcase my talents. I have a lot to prove as the only Worcester fighter on this card.
Omar Bordoy, JR:I’m fighting a tough opponent. Fighting is easier for me than talking up here. I’m fighting a guy from Hartford. I have a lot of love for his trainer and Hartford. I want my hand raised at the end of the fight.
Derrick Whitley:I want to thank Rivera Promotions for putting me on this card. I fought on two of their shows last year and came out 2-0. I’m looking to be 3-0. It was a learning experience going from the amateurs to pros. Everybody’s goal is to raise your level. I’m in the best shape of my life for this fight and doing things in the gym I’ve never done before. I’m looking for a stoppage.
Wilfredo Pagan: “Ako ay 37 years old and I’ve always had a glad to fight at least one pro fight. A couple of fights fell through but the Riveras opened the doors for me. I put it all into my fights. I was looking for one fight and this will be my fourth. I’m going to be 4-0.
Carlos Marraro, III: I want to thank Rivera Promotions for the opportunity to showcase my talents February 10ika. This will be my first fight on a Rivera Promotions card, but I’m familiar with most of the fighters on this card.

WORCESTER, Masa. (Enero 8, 2018) – Isa sa mga pinaka-popular na New England boxing prospects, undefeated Hartford (CT) ilaw matimbang Richard “Popeye The Sailor Man” Rivera (5-0, 4 Kos), kalooban headline kanyang ikatlong show Sabado gabi, Pebrero 10, sa The Palladium in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Tsikago, IL (Marso 9, 2017)After stopping former world champion, Chad Dawson (34-5, 19 Kos), with a stunning tenth-round TKO, WBC #8 light-heavyweight contender, Andrzej Fonfara (29-4, 17 Kos), is welcoming challenges from everyone in the top ten.

I’m looking forward to my next fight and the possibilities that have opened up with my victory over Chad Dawson,” said Andrzej Fonfara. “My main goal is to avenge my loss toJoe Smith Jr., but if I can’t get him in the ring, then I’m looking to face anyone in the top ten of the light-heavyweight division.
With the light-heavyweight division loaded with talent, Fonfara seeks a meaningful fight with one of the top contenders, more specifically, former WBC super-middleweight champion, Badou Jack (20-1, 12 Kos), who recently vacated his world title at 168 pounds.
Badou Jack seems like the perfect opponent, but I must warn him, this is not the super-middleweight division,” Fonfara continued. “Badou Jack has never faced punchers like those fighting at 175 pounds. He must earn his shot to a world title fight, just like I did when I was coming up. This makes for a perfect opportunity for us to fight, with the winner moving up the rankings.
