Porter is auctioning off a pair of worn and signed hand wraps, a pair of signed boxing shoes, “Team Porter” t-shirts and a meet and greet at the weigh-in, in addition to the tickets from PBC for fight night.

 

 

 

“This was something that I really wanted to do so that I could give back and continue to show all of the good that boxing can do for people,” Said Porter, who donated the items to Gleason’s Gym while training there earlier this month. “I’m so happy to give my time to something that will help people who grew up just like me and use this sport to better themselves and the lives of others.”

 

 

 

“We truly appreciate Shawn’s contribution to our Give a Kid a Dream foundation and we’re excited to team up with him,” said Bruce Silverglade, Owner of Gleason’s Gym. “It’s always great when fighters lend a hand toward our goal of helping the kids in our community through the sport of boxing.”

The auction will benefit Gleason’s Give a Kid a Dream Foundation and see Porter auction off a pair of signed, used for sparring hand wraps, a pair of signed boxing shoes, “Team Porter” t-shirts and a meet and greet at the weigh-in, in addition to the tickets for fight night.

NEW YORK (Septembrie 18, 2017) – New York State Boxing Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Silverglade, special boxing program director Alex Montaldo and boxing historian Frederick Roman are Ring 8 guest speakers at its next monthly meeting,mâine noapte (Marți, Șapte. 19, 7 p.m. ȘI start), at O’Neill’s Restaurant (64-21 53rdDrive) in Maspeth, New York.
Silverglade has owned the world-famous Gleason’s Gym since 1983. The iconic boxing gym dates back 80 an, when Gleason’s Gym was originally founded in the Bronx, before moving to Manhattan from 1974 pentru 1984, then to Brooklyn in 1985, and finally into its present location in Brooklyn a year ago at 130 Water Street.
Montaldo developed and operates a special program at Gleason’s Gym – stoPD (Support training to overcome Parkinson’s Disease) designed to help people with Parkinson’s Disease.
Romano has had work experience in boxing for more than 35 years as a research consultant for HBO, as well as a producer and host of a cable television show about boxing, and he is a certified amateur boxing judge in New York. Miercuri will be the arrival into New York. Registration and orientation will be from 12:00 prânz la 5:00 pm. The brackets and match ups will be set following the registration. The gym will be available for loosening up and working out free of charge from

If you like boxing you will love the Camp
The camp will include intensive boxing discussions, training sessions, sparring sessions and training drills. At the end of the camp you will have the chance to showcase your new skills in our Camp Sparring Show.
The camp will give you the chance to learn from world-class trainers, Hall of Fame boxers and World Champions both past and present. Professional and amateur sparring partners will also be available to help with your training. Bărbați, women and children are all welcome. No previous boxing experience is necessary. All levels of skill from beginners to veterans will be present at the camp.

Fight back against Autism with our newest classes specially designed for children with this condition

Gleason’s Gym has been very successful with our stoPD! Program.(Support and Training to Overcome Parkinson’s Disease)
We now want to extend this success with our program to fight children with Autism.
Autism, or autism spectrum disorder, refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. It is now know that there is not one autism but many types, caused by a combination of genetic and environmental influences.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates autism’s prevalence as 1 în 68 children in the United States. This includes 1 în 42 boys and 1 în 189 girls.
Our program will have boxing classes for students on the Autism Spectrum. We will work on socialization, communication, focus and organization through boxing fitness.
The program will incorporate boxing basics and a circuit workout that will be modified to fit all students needs while using supports and prompting procedural techniques.
The instructors are Jessica Margulies (owner of Bout Fitness) a certified Childhood/Special Education Teacher. NASM CPT And Ernesto Colon a certified Assistant Special Education Teacher. NASM CPT
The classes are every Vineri la 7:00 pm.
The fee is $25 per class.
