QUEBEC CITY (Lub Xya hli ntuj 30, 2016) – Light heavyweight world champion AdonisSupermanStevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) delivered a highlight reel knockout victory over ThomasTop DoggWilliams Jr. (20-2, 14 KOs) in the fourth-round of an exciting main event showdown on Premier Boxing Champions rau Spike Hnub vas Xuv night from Centre Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.
It was a firefight,” said Stevenson. “He put pressure on me so I decided to put pressure on him too. It was a fight with two guys who could punch and it was spectacular. It was my daughter’s birthday and I gave her a great gift.
The defending champion Stevenson, fighting in his adopted hometown, put Williams down in round one with a straight left hand. Williams was able to recover and began to fire back in round two. However, Stevenson’s jab consistently sent Williams backtracking, while Williams abandoned the jab and attempted to cut the distance with power punches from difficult angles. Williams staggered the world champion several times, using an effective counter right hand while getting the best of many exchanges.
Both men were hurt in an exciting third round that saw momentum swing in each man’s favor before the bell rang to end the round. A cut opened up over the left eye of Williams in the end of the round that was tended to in his corner. Williams hit the canvas as a result of a low blow early in the fourth, but regained his footing shortly after.
The notorious power puncher Stevenson eventually landed the deciding blow of the night when he caught Williamschin hanging in the pocket and delivered a straight left hand that put the challenger to the floor. The Washington, DC area-native was unable to recover, prompting referee Michael Griffin to stop the bout 2:54 into the fourth round.
Additional televised action saw rising middleweight contendersImmanuwel Aleem (16-0-1, 9 KOs) thiab Demond Nicholson (17-1-1, 16 KOs) fight to a majority draw in their eight-round bout.
Neither fighter was able to control of the fight with Nicholson attempting to use his length and jab while Aleem tried to cut the distance and attack with short punches. Nicholson appeared to have the more effective attack in the early rounds, while Aleem began to have more success as the fight shifted to toe-to-toe action in the second half of the fight.
The judgesscores reflected the close nature of the fight as one judge had it 77-74 for Aleem while the other two judges had it a 76-76 draw.
The televised opener saw EleiderStormAlvarez (20-0, 10 KOs) keep his perfect record intact with a unanimous decision victory over New Zealand’s Robert Berridge (27-5, 21 KOs) in a 10-round light heavyweight affair.
I am happy with the win, but I would have liked a knockout! He was tough, but he did not hurt me at all and I thought that I hurt him. I am ready for my next challenge, which will hopefully be a world title fight.
The top-rated contender for Stevenson’s title, Alvarez established his jab early on while attacking the body of Berridge with right hooks. Alvarez continued to control the fight from a distance as Berridge was slow to begin increasing his output before he started putting the pressure on in round five.
The southpaw Berridge was able to land occasionally on Alvarez with a looping left hand, but never put the undefeated fighter in danger. Alvarez began to have more success varying up his attack with right uppercuts and hooks that eventually left Berridge’s right eye swollen and bruised.
Alvarez took home the decision by scores of 99-90 thiab 98-92 twice.

WBA cruiserweight world champion wants
Denis Lebedev fight to happen this summer

LAS VEGAS (Rau hli ntuj 5, 2016) – World Boxing Association (WBA) cruiserweight world champion Beibut Shumenov(17-2, 10 KOs) stopped No. 11-rated Junior “Nag xob nag cua” Wright (15-2-1, 12 KOs) in the 10th round of their May 21sttitle fight to remain mandatory challenger for unified WBA Super/International Boxing Federation (IBF) cruiserweight world champion Denis Lebedev (29-2, 22 KOs). The WBA mandated a Lebedev-Shumenov fight within 120 days of May 21.

Shumenov, 32, is a 2004 Kazakhstan Olympian who lives and trains in Las Vegas. During his 9-year professional boxing career, Shumenov has defeated four world championsGabriel Campillo, Byron Mitchell, William Joppy thiab Montell Griffinas well as seven world title challengers. He is 8-2 (4 KOs) in world title fights
Below find a one-on-one interview with Shumenov:

Evaluate your performance against Junior Wright in your last fight?
BS: “I am 100-percent a completely different fighter than in my previous fight against B.J. Flores. But, at the beginning of this fight, I had a little bit of ring rust. The inactivity is really hard for me. I would like to be busier and fight more often. I already started training and doing light exercises, right after my fight on May 21st. In my next fight, I will be even more different fighter against Lebedev.
How does it feel to be the only fighter from your country to be 2-division world champion?
BS: “I don’t really think about those things. My main goal is to unify all of the titles and fight all the best fighters.
You’ve always wanted to unify as a way of determining who the best or real champ is. Nyob rau hauv 20-11, you almost fought a unification as WBA light heavyweight but then-WBO champion Juergen Braehmer who suddenly went home a few days before the scheduled unification fight. How does it feel to know that you will be fighting Lebedev for WBA super and IBF cruiserweight titles within 120 days from May 21?
BS: “This has always been my goalto unifyand I’m motivated even more knowing that I am going to fight for those two titles very soon.
Do you think a deal will be made between your manager, Al Haymon and Lebedev’s promoter, Andrei Ryabinsky, or will it go to purse bid?
BS: “It doesn’t concern me, whether it goes to a purse bid, or where the location is. However, I hope the parties can get the best deal worked out for everyone involved.
If Lebedev doesn’t want to fight you and he relinquishes his WBA super title belt, where do you go from there, fight second-mandatory challenger Yunier Dorticos?
BS: “I have heard rumors that Lebedev doesn’t want to fight me and, if this is true and he relinquishes his WBA Super belt, then I want to fight Dorticos because every organization should only have one champion in each division. I hope this isn’t the case, as I have been waiting to fight Lebedev since I won the WBA interim title (mandatory) back in July of 2015. The WBA has ordered us to fight within 120 days of May 21st. I am ready, willing and able to fight him and I hope he is ready, too.

PETER QUILLIN
It is hard to celebrate a performance like that, especially when someone is leaving on a stretcher. Unfortunately that is part of the game. I just pray that he gets better and gets home to Australia safe and sound.
I made a bad mistake in my past when I fought Miranda. I learned that you have to give every guy credit.
What’s important is that I’m ready for Danny Jacobs. Now it’s time for Brooklyn to see me and Danny Jacobs. We’ve waited for a long time for it.
I like Danny because I’m a big fan of his. But business is business unfortunately.
“[To Jacobs] We can do it right here if you want to take off that suit and put on those gloves. Lets do it right now.
I’m back in camp on Monday. I’m getting ready for Danny Jacobs.
Right now he’s the champ, I’m the challenger. I like to be in that position. It motivates me. I fight for all the kids who were told they wouldn’t make it.
DANIAS JACOBS, Middleweight World Champion is expected to take on Quillin on Hlis ntuj nqeg 5.
I’m from Brownsville in Brooklyn. I never ran and I never will.
Hlis ntuj nqeg 5 at Barclays Center. I’m the champion and he’s the challenger.
I don’t know how it’s going to go down, but it’s going to be a great fight.
In the sport of boxing, you can’t make too many friends.
It will be one of the biggest fights that Brooklyn has had in a long time.
I’m a mover, I’m a power puncher and I have a high boxing IQ. He has trouble with guys that move and I can think on the fly.
This [fight] is all the motivation I neededwhat other motivation do you need to get your butt in the gym and get prepared?
They call me the ‘Miracle Man’. It’s no secret that I have motivation to be the best I can be. Come Hlis ntuj nqeg 5, Brooklyn is going to have a new star.
JERMALL CHARLO
I’m the champion of the world. It’s all God-given. I couldn’t ask for anything better. I feel good.
You never put a dog in a pen with a lion. I said I was going to do what I was going to do.
This is the future. I am the future of boxing.
I studied and I stayed ready. K-9 got cut and I stayed ready. When I turned pro seven years ago, I didn’t know this would be possible.
I was ready for 12 muab suav, and I knew he was ready for 12 muab suav.
I’ve finally made it to the championship status. To be classified as a world champion, it’s history.
The fight went exactly how we thought it would. It was getting rough and I was ready for it. It was just a matter of time. It’s the best feeling in the world.
I want to become even better. I want to defend my title and show everyone how good I am.
CORNELIUS BUNDRAGE
You win some, you lose some. The problem was, I’ve been inactive. I was in there with a good fighter who has been active and is hungry.
I’m older and have to stay active to stay with these young guys. I’m not going anywhere. I have to stay active to see punches coming.
MARCUS BROWNE
My performance was definitely a statement to everyone in the light heavyweight divisionwatch out. We’re here!
He was standing straight up and my trainer said to hit him with a nice straight jab. I threw the 1-2 and then I followed up.
I took my time and just let it come.
My trainer Gary Stark told me to come around the arms and that’s what I did. You can see it.

Here is what the fighters had to say Tuesday:
PETER QUILLIN
I was just telling Zerafa when we faced-off that I’ve been in his shoes before and I know how it feels. No disrespect. He doesn’t have to tell me that he’s got nothing to lose, I know that. I’m worried about looking good in this fight and doing what I’ve been working on in the gym.
I know he’s beaten all the best in Australia, but I’ve beaten the best all over the world. He’s not going to be in his backyard and have that comfort he’s used to.
We’re at a point now where I need to showcase my talent at this level. The exposure on NBC is great. We can be seen by so many people and build something that will last for years to come.
Not everyone knows I was raised all my life in Grand Rapids, Michigan just like Floyd Mayweather and he was really one of my biggest inspirations. Fighting on the same day as him is the closest I’ll get to fighting on his undercard, which I’ve always wanted to do. I still get to headline my own event on NBC and I hope that people are inspired by how hard Floyd and I have worked to get to where we are.
I’m excited for the possibility of fighting Daniel Jacobs. He’s been calling for it for a long time and the seats are reversed now, because he’s a champion and I’m not. I’m motivated regardless of the belt, but I want the opportunity to fight one of the best in the world and showcase my talent and show I’m the king of Brooklyn.
MICHAEL ZERAFA
It’s been a good experience coming to the U.S. for my first time. It’s a lot of adrenaline and I have as we get closer to the fight and I’m just looking forward to fighting one of the best in the world.
It’s going to be an exciting fight and I’m going to give it my absolute all. We know it’s going to be a hard fight and our team has trained extremely hard. We have a great game plan and we’re going to give it our best shot.
I didn’t know too much about Quillin when I accepted the fight but he is one of the best in America so we know that it’s going to be a hard fight and we’re going to make it a war. We’ll leave it all out on the table and the better man will win.
I feel good at this weight. I’m strong and smarter with less stress on my body. I’m feeling switched on and very confident.
Losing has made me a better, tougher and stronger fighter. There’s nothing to lose in this fight, I have everything to gain.
MARCUS BROWNE
I’m blessed to be in this position and I’m looking forward to getting into this fight and putting on a great show.
Everything is part of the plan. I’ve just taken it one fight at a time and now we’re here in a great position.
Training camp has been great. We’ve worked on everything and covered all the corners we need to. The sparring with Charles Foster and Lennox Allen has been great and they’ve gotten me ready for the lefty.
Campillo is a veteran and he’s going to be there. You just have to find him and get him out. I’m going to use my use, my speed, my strength my power. All of that will get me the victory.
I’m so grateful for this opportunity and I just want to keep putting on a better performance every time I’m out there.
GARY STARK JR.
I feel great, It’s been a very good camp. It’s tougher with the baby at home but it’s all a blessing. I feel like I’m resurrected.
I fought recently and that first fight back there were some jitters. By the fourth round of that fight I really wanted it again. It’s great to be on a ‘Kid Chocolateshow. I remember when he first started, he was on some of my shows, throwing chocolates to the crowd. Now look where he is now.
I’m looking to work my way towards a title shot. My team pushes me very hard. Everybody believes in me and that’s big. Boxing is all confidence. I’ll always have tons of confidence.
We’ll see the old me back in the ring Hnub vas xaum afternoon. It’s so great to be back in the ring again.
