PROMOTER LEWKOWICZ SAYS PERALTA NO LONGER A CAB DRIVER AFTER HUGE UPSET VICTORY OVER ROBERT GUERRERO

Sampson Lewkowicz, promoter of suddenly red-hot welterweight David EmanuelEl Pirata” Peralta, says big changes are on the way for his cab-driving Argentinean fighter.
O Sábado noite, Peralta (26-2-1, 14 Kos), un 70:1 oprimido, came out of retirement to win a surprise 12-round split decision over former world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
The victory, televised nationally on PBC on Spike, has changed 33-year-old Peralta’s fortunes in the talent-rich welterweight division.
He is no longer a cab driver,” laughed a happy Lewkowicz, post-loita. “David came out of retirement to take this fight when I offered it to him. Now his life will change. He will go back to being a full-time fighter and I will find him another big fight to win.
Lewkowicz, credited with discovering Manny Pacquiao and Sergio “Marabilla” Martinez among many others, says his Argentinean fighter was taken lightly because he had never fought outside his homeland, but he knew what he could do.
David is very talented fighter and very tough,” dixo Lewkowicz. “We knew Guerrero was in a tough battle against him, but no one else did. And I thank the great champion Robert Guerrero for giving him the opportunity. He and his team have our utmost respect.
Lewkowicz says he will get to work finding Peralta another big opportunity as soon as possible.
You have to like David. He is very humble and honest and he fought his heart out and now everybody knows his name. He’s a special fighter and I’m very happy to be his promoter. He was only retired because he thought nothing would ever happen in his career. He’s back now and he’ll be in the gym full-time. His cab can wait. I will find him a big fight against another top contender and try to get him in line for a world title shot. Or if Robert Guerrero feels like he wants an immediate rematch, we would give it to him. He gave us the chance.

Robert Guerrero
I got a chance to size him up today. I saw how tall he is. Picking my spotsseeing where I have to go. After looking at him, Sei que está chegando a loitar. I’m expecting a war.
Like all Argentine fighters, I know he’s got that hunger to prove he’s worthy of this big opportunity and make the most of it.
The weigh-in is mañá and I’m just ready to fight. I’m focused and the fans can expect to see me leave everything in the ring like always.
I’ve seen some tape on him. He’s one of those guys that is durable. A durable tall, lanky guy. His height is going to help him.
I am expecting a tough fight for sure. This is like a world title shot for him. I don’t know what he is going to bring to the table and that is exciting for me.
DAVID EMANUEL PERALTA
This is the biggest fight of my career. It is very important. I have to go out there and put on a great show.
I want to go down the same path as Marcos Maidana and Lucas Matthysse. They were given great opportunities in their careers and took advantage of them. I am going to take advantage of this opportunity.
This is an opportunity to learn. Every fight and fighter is different. I have watched Guerrero fight, but every fighter is different. I have a gameplan to beat him.
I am well prepared. I came here to fight. I am prepared to go the distance. I am going to throw a lot of punches, move around and be ready to get the decision.
Alfredo Angulo
I’m very excited to fight o sábado night against Freddy Hernandez.
With two Mexican warriors in the ring, the fans will be the true winners.
I was off for a while but with my new trainer, Romulo Quirarte, I feel much stronger and will fight like ‘El Perroof old with the same passion.
The fans have always been great to me and I can’t wait to put on a performance for them.
Right now I’m only focused on Freddy Hernandez then we will see who I can fight next.
FREDDY HERNANDEZ

Fans can expect someone that will step into the ring with attitude and bravery. I’m a guy that doesn’t hold back and Angulo better be ready.
What’s my secret weapon? Chocolate cake.
I’m just ready for this fight. I worked hard and any time two Mexicans get into the ring, it’s fireworks.
TERRELL Gausha
I had a different experience with the Olympics. I missed the trials. I was taking time off from boxing. I lost the passion for it a little bit and I took some time off, but I was able to fight for a spot on the team, and I wont every fight I was in leading into the Olympics.
I am excited for this fight. I trained really hard. Sometimes you have to take chances. I am ready to be aggressive and I am ready to change up my style in order to counter him.
“Sei que iso vai ser unha loita dura. It is going to be my toughest fight to date. It is important for me to take a step up and show the world what I can do.
I appreciate my fans for sticking with me. Without fans, there would be no boxing. I appreciate my fans and I want to go out there o sábado night and give them a great show.
STEVE MARTINEZ
Our fight is going to steal the show. I think its really competitive and exciting. We’re hungry. We came here to execute the game plan and win. It is going to be explosive.

Fighters prepared for their impending bouts and spoke to media about their matchups, the exciting weekend of action in Southern California and more. Aquí está o que os loitadores tiñan que dicir:
Robert Guerrero
Peralta is a tall guy but I’m used to it. Kamegai was bigger than I thought he’d be, but I handled it. I have to feel him out and go from there.
I’m going to try and execute my game plan. We want to put pressure on him. I’ve had really good sparring for this and I’m ready to go.
My opponent is kind of a laid back fighter. He’s going to wait for me to come to him and try to counter. I saw a lot of him laying on the ropes, so I’ll come inside and try to give the fans a great performance. I’m excited to get in there.
I’ve worked on a lot of things during camp. I’m working on staying more on my toes and breaking some of the bad habits I’ve had. I like to just go forward but there is a lot more to my game. I have to work behind my jab and I think I’ll have success.
I’ve had so much repetition in the gym and that’s been key to my game. I have to work hard in the ring. I can’t just mow everybody down.
I’m ready for a world title shot now. I want the Danny Garcia rematch. I feel like I won the fight. He had some flashy shots but he didn’t want to fight. It is what it is and it motivates me to get back to that position.
DAVID EMANUEL PERALTA
I’m physically and mentally prepared for this fight. Robert Guerrero is a great fighter and a great champion. I’ve seen everything he’s done and I think this is my time.
The United States is a beautiful place and I’ve enjoyed being here very much. I’m going to give a very hard fight o sábado noite. I’m going to leave it all in the ring and come out with a victory.
Alfredo Angulo
I have the same hunger and passion that I had in the beginning of my career. 'O Cachorro’ was asleep for a couple of years but he’s woken up now.
Right now the only goal is to win este sábado. I’m hoping that next year I can contend and fight for a world title. I have always fought the toughest fighters and I’ve never been afraid of a challenge.
I feel strong and my weight is good. I hope my opponent had a great training camp. I want him to be at his best so that we can put on a great show for the fans. We are both tough Mexican fighters so you can expect us to stand and throw punches.
It’s very important for me to fight for the fans. This is a huge fight for my career. I want to live up to what the fans expect from me.
There have been a lot of changes in my career. I’ve gone through different trainers but now I have some stability with Romelu Quirtate. I feel very stable and confident with him. There are a lot of good fighters in camp and we push each other.
FREDDY HERNANDEZ
I had a good training camp and I’m going to surprise people in this fight. I know that I need a victory here to continue fighting at a high level.
Everyone knows my style and everyone knows Angulo’s style. We both like to throw punches and we fight with our hearts. It’s going to make it a great fight Sábado noite.
I feel very strong at this weight and I think I have more to give to this sport. I’m going to leave my soul in the ring. I’m looking to hurt Angulo.
TERRELL Gausha
I’m liking the fights and the opportunities that I’ve been getting. This guy is a tough competitor and it’s a chance to show the world how good I am.
I’m ready for anything my opponent brings. I know that he is going to bring pressure. I won’t back down. It will bring out the best in me.
I want to keep working towards bigger fights. But I’m focused on this fight and I’m going to find a way to win.
My camp has been focused on working my jabs, being smart and moving. I’m staying in great shape and I’ll be ready to go Sábado noite.
I’m ready for any opponent. I feel right now like I can fight for world title and Sábado is my opportunity to show people that. I’m going to prove myself.
STEVE MARTINEZ
I’m coming into this fight with a lot to prove. I’ve known Gausha for a long time and I definitely think I have the tools to beat him and do it convincingly.
This is a great opportunity for me and I’m very thankful for it. I have the chance to breakthrough to the next level with a victory here. I’ve worked too hard not to get a win.
My training camp was very long and we worked hard from start to finish. Now all that’s left is to get in the ring and I can’t wait.
There’s nothing better than coming to an opponent’s home and getting a victory. He’s comfortable out here now but I’m going to make him real uncomfortable Sábado noite.”

Guerreiro, along with his trainer and father Ruben Guerrero, have put together another successful camp in the Bay Area as Robert looks to earn another opportunity at the top fighters in the sport. Here is what Guerrero had to say about his matchup, training camp and more:
On fighting in a special weekend edition of MMA and Boxing on Spike
It’s going to be a great weekend of fights on Spike. O Venres, you got top level MMA fighters like Benson Henderson throwing down. He’s always giving the fans their money’s worth. O Sábado, you got Alfredo Angulo and myself, who always bring excitement to the ring. We’re never in boring fights. Todo en todo, there’s going to be a lot of action packed fights that weekend. Everyone should be tuning in that’s for sure.
On his recent training camp
There’s been a lot of hard work that’s been put into this recent training camp. My dad and I have been grinding daily to get ready for this fight. It’s been a productive camp though. I got a lot of rounds sparring with top guys. I’m in tip top shape and ready to go.
On facing tough Argentine David Emanuel Peralta
Anytime you’re facing a fighter from Argentina you know you’re in for a tough fight. Peralta knows this is his chance to make a name for himself so I know he’s coming with his very best. He’s had a lot of time to prepare for this fight but I’ll be well prepared for anything he brings. He’s going to realize once he’s in the ring with me that I’m not some washed up fighter like some may think. I got plenty of fight left in me and Peralta will find out what I’m all about on August 27th.”
On the importance of coming out victorious
It’s very important that I win this fight at all cost. The welterweight division has plenty of good fighters that I want to get in the ring with. So it’s a must that I win this fight. I’m not taking Peralta lightly. I’m coming to win and win impressively.
On fighting in Anaheim at the Honda Center
Anytime you’re fighting in Southern California, you know the fans are going to be passionate about the fights. They love to see a lot of action and that’s exactly what they’ll see when I step in the ring. The Honda Center is a top level venue where the fans will all have a great seat. I’m looking forward to fighting in front of the SoCal fans once again.

The fighters spoke to media at Ten Goose Boxing as they prepare for a night of action in front of the lively Southern California boxing fans. Aquí está o que os loitadores tiñan que dicir Xoves:
Alfredo Angulo
I’ve been training hard since the beginning of the year. I’m ready to get back in the ring and put on a show for the fans.
I love entertaining the fans. I want to keep going out there and fighting for the fans. I want to be in big fights that fans remember.
I know that this will be a very entertaining fight. My opponent and I both have a lot of pride. We fight like true Mexican warriors and will leave it all in the ring. I don’t expect this to go the decision but I am ready to battle for every round.
Fans don’t question fights between two Mexican fighters. Everyone loves those kinds of matchups, like Morales-Barrera. Those fights are must watch. The Mexican style is to go head-to-head and toe-to-toe.
Fighting a guy like this is always dangerous. I don’t like to beat up my countrymen but this is a business and I want to have the crowd chant my name, just like he does.
I feel better when I have rest in between fights. Eu me sinto máis forte. The rest has helped my body and I’m going to be stronger and sharper when I get back in the ring.
I’m very comfortable with my style and my team. I’ve known Romulo Quirarte for many many years and we’ve worked very well together.
I got married and we have a child on the way so I have a lot of emotions that I put into this training camp. It’s hard for me to explain in words, but I hope that I can show everyone when I get into the ring on Agosto 27.”
TERRELL Gausha
Each fight I feel like I’ve been growing. I’ve been learning and taking something from every experience in the ring. I’m a student of the game. I’m always training and I feel like I’m getting sharper and better.
I know my opponent is an aggressive fighter. He’ll come forward and he comes to win. I know him from the amateurs where he has a great background like myself. I’m looking to pick him apart and prove myself.
It’s hard for me to describe my style, but I make adjustments to opponents. I fight differently depending on my opponent. I’m a thinking fighter. He’s an aggressive fighter and I think it will bring the best out of me. I’m going to exploit his weaknesses and use his aggression against him.
I just have to be myself. Angulo and Robert Guerrero have a lot of heart, just like I do. My style is my own. I’m smart and I’m sharp. I like to hit and not get hit.
I’ve been watching the Olympics games and catching as much boxing as I can. We already have a medal guaranteed. I love watching all of the Olympics sports.

The event took place at the Spike headquarters in Santa Monica as the PBC fighters discussed the exciting weekend of action along with the Bellator fighters. Here is what the PBC fighters had to say Martes:
Robert Guerrero
I want to get back in there with the top guys. All the fights are there. I have to get back in that position. I have to get them to stand toe-to-toe with me.
I don’t need to prove anything to myself. I know I can fight. I come in and work hard every day. I have to go and prove it to the fans. The fans are what makes us. I have to prove it to everybody watching that I’m there at the top level.
We definitely want a rematch with Danny Garcia. If I don’t get that, it’s anyone at 147 libras. The guys are all there and I’m ready to battle.
You have to be able to be ready for anything in the ring. I know Peralta is going to be dangerous and at his best. Non estou a buscar por el.
Training has been going great. I have my team together and we’re working hard. We’re staying focused and ready to get the job done.
I have a tough guy in front of me on Agosto 27. I have to take care of him and leave no doubts so that I can get in there against the top guys again.
I think boxing and MMA can co-exist because everybody likes to watch people beat each other up. People like guys getting put down and getting back up. It’s nice to have the two events back-to-back and I’m happy to be the guy out there putting on a show for the fans.
Alfredo Angulo
I want to show people that ‘El Perrois back and that I still want to compete in the biggest fights. If I work hard, I think that I can have an opportunity by next year for a title shot.
I have a great team in training and we’re working hard for this challenge. I want to put on a great show for the fans. I want fans to remember my fights and I think this will be the best fight of the night.
Two Mexicans fighting is always a great fight. We have a lot of experience and we’re both going to come forward and fight with our hearts.
This will be a great night of boxing. I’m confident no matter who I fight. I bring my heart to the ring and fight for my fans until the last bell.
TERRELL Gausha
I’m going to go out there and try to be victorious. This is a tough opponent. Once I dominate this guy I think I’ll be closer to a title shot.
I think I’m ready for a title shot soon. I want to go out there and take care of this guy and show that I’m ready to take over the division.
This is a great chance to showcase my talent. The fans are what’s most important. You want to be the guy that people see and take a liking to.
I don’t need to call anybody out. My way of doing it is by my performance. I’m a laid back and humble guy. I will fight anybody though. It’s a yes to any name.
I know a lot about Steve Martinez. We were in the amateurs at the same time so we really came up together. He’s a tough fighter and a very good test for me. On paper he’s the toughest opponent I’ve faced in the pros.
One thing about me, I make adjustments in the ring. Who knows if he’s going to try and switch it up? I’m ready for anything he has.
I see myself being smart in the ring. Winning each round and picking this guy apart. I’m sharper and faster. I’m going to outclass him. I’m training hard trying to get him out of there.
It’s cool to see us combining boxing with MMA and shedding light on each other’s sport. It’s a really tough sport and I take my hat off to all of those guys. But my thing is boxing and I’m sticking to it.

Undefeated Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade Fighting way back to top of Super Welterweight Division

Demetrious Andrade (photo by Shane Sims / Banner Promotions)
Providencia (Maio 31, 2016) — Invicto welterweight super Demetrious “Boo Boo” Andrade is in a good place as he prepares for his Xuño 11 showdown versus Willie “A gran” Nelson en Showtime Championship Boxing® directo na canle Showtime® (9 p.m. E/6 p.m. PT) from Turning Stone Casino in Verona, N.I..
Approaching the peak of his professional boxing career, the 28-year-old Andrade (22-0, 15 Kos) has moved past a frustrating three-year stretch that, after he won a 12-round decision over Vanes Masrtirosyan for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) 154-pound world title, found him fighting only twice. One was his only title defense, in which he won impressively by way of a seventh-round stoppage of then WBO No. 1 mandatory title challenger Brian Rose. Pero, due to promotional issues, Andrade was later stripped by the WBO for inactivity. His last fight was this past October when he recorded a second-round knockout of Dario Fabian Pucheta for the WBO International belt.
Agora, Andrade has a new three-year promotional contract that gives his company, A Team Promotions, 50 percent of his promotional rights to go along with 25 percent each for Banner Promotions and Star Boxing.
I’ve always been in a good place, mentalmente, because I have confidence in myself,” said Andrade on what he went through during his long stretch outside of the ring. “I continued training hard. The politics of boxing, ben, Non 100 percent there yet. Not until I’m actually in the ring and fighting will I actually know if that’s worked out for me.
I’m satisfied in my future, showcasing myself in the ring. I own 50 percent of myself and thatbeing a promoteris a big factor. I know everything now, including all the real numbers, and I’ve learned about the ins and outs of this business. I’m also meeting the right network of people to help my career.
Andrade is thrilled to be fighting on SHOWTIME for the second time during his career, the first back in 2013 en ShoBox: A Nova Xeración contra Freddy Hernandez. “The top 154-pounders are with SHOWTIME. I’d like to thank SHOWTIME for giving me this amazing opportunity.
Andrade-Nelson is a 12-round WBC title elimination fight to determine the second mandatory challenger for new WBC Super Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo, quen, as the WBC No. 1 contender was matched last May 21 with No. 2 Clasificado John Jackson. Non. 3 Andrade was originally slated to face No. 5 Charles Hatley in a title eliminator to determine the No. 1 candidato obrigatoria. Con todo, negotiations with Hatley’s promoter, Don King, failed to materialize and Andrade moved on to fight WBC No. 10 Nelson. The WBC declared Hatley as Charlo’s mandatory challenger, despite him being ranked lower than Andrade, with the Andrade-Nelson winner now declared the mandatory title challenger for the future Charlo-Hatley victor.
Andrade, aínda, has no hard feelings with the WBC about its decisions. “I’m just thankful to be fighting in this ‘tournament’,” he commented. “Charlo was the WBC International champion and he should have had the opportunity to fight for the vacant title. I have the WBO International title, Hatley the WBC Silver title, so Hatley should probably have been ranked higher than me by the WBC. I respect the WBC’s decision to make him the first mandatory challenger.
Nelson (25-2-1, 15 Kos) and Andrade are familiar with each other through the USA Boxing amateur program, but the two have never met in the ring.
Nelson lets his hands go,” Andrade noted. “He likes to mix it up and so do I. I like to think that I’m a little smarter than him in the ring. This is going to be an interesting fight. I respect him for taking the fight and I’m preparing to fight the toughest opponent I’ve ever faced. He may be the tallest guy (6′ 3″) I’ve ever fought as a pro, but it’s only a few inches, and not a big deal.
Andrade is back on his way to reaching the peak of the 154-pound division once again.
I am ready to set the roof on fire on Xuño 11,” Andrade said. “Once everyone at 154 pounds gets a taste of me, they will know I am the greatest. The Charlos made history by becoming the first twins to hold titles in the same weight division. I will make history by beating both of them. Then I will beat Lara and unify all of the belts.
Stay tuned. I am a force to be reckoned with. I will show the world that the best 154 pound fighter in the world is Demetrius Andrade.
