BETHLEHEM, PA. (April 5, 2017) – Former title challenger Edner Körsbär (36-7-2, 19 Kos) won a competitive decision over Omar Douglas (17-2, 12 PRISER) i den viktigaste händelsen iPremier Boxning Champions TOE till tå TISDAG på FS1 och Boxning Champions på FOX Deportes Tisdag night from Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pa.
Cherry came out aggressive from the opening bell, landing a strong left hook and backing up Douglas early and often over the first few rounds. Douglas attempted to control the fight with his jab and movement and had some success moving his head to avoid many of the power punches from Cherry.
Douglas did well as he increased his attack to the body in the middle rounds and continued to move backward to avoid the power punches being thrown by Cherry. The differing styles left the judges with a decision to make in weighing the movement and technique of Douglas versus the aggression of Cherry.
Till slut, the consistency of Cherry’s attack, who frequently targeted Douglas with combinations to the head, was more effective in the minds of the judges. The final score totals were 98-92 och 96-94 twice for Cherry.
Additional action featured Philadelphia’s Stephen Fulton (11-0, 5 Kos) earning a unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Luis Rosario (8-1-1, 7 Kos) in their eight-round super bantamweight contest.
Rosario was the more aggressive fighter in the early rounds, but it was Fulton who timed his opponent first and built up an early lead with a combination of check hooks and power punches. Fulton was patient against the attack-minded Rosario and was able to counter effectively while avoiding Rosario’s power punches.
Fulton continued to have success in the middle rounds as Rosario’s attack slowed, but the Puerto Rican fighter came out with an increased level of aggression in round seven and tagged Fulton during several exciting exchanges.
Despite the increasing pressure, Fulton was able to stay composed and fend off Rosario over the final two rounds on his way to winning a unanimous decision by scores of 78-74, 79-73 och 80-72.
The opening bout of the telecast saw Bethlehem’s Frank DeAlba (22-2-2, 9 Kos) score a unanimous decision over Ryan Kielczweski (26-3, 8 Kos) i en åtta Ligt superfjäder skjutningen.
The hometown fighter got off to a slow start as Kielczweski appeared to control the early rounds using his movement and tagging the southpaw with right hands. DeAlba began to work on the inside of his opponent and found more success starting in the fourth round.
Once he had closed the distance, DeAlba began to land hooks to the head and smothered much of Kielczweski’s offense. With an increased emphasis on body-punching in the late rounds, DeAlba turned the tide of the fight in the judges’ minds and earned a unanimous decision by scores of 77-75 två gånger och 80-72.

“I feel good winning my first eight-round fight and televised bout. I feel great after that performance. The fight went exactly how I thought.
“I knew he would try to drop combinations on me, but I worked my jab and moved so I would not be in a straight line for his left hand.”
LUIS ROSARIO
“Fulton is a good boxer. He did not want to fight man-to-man, but he moved well. He was shying away from exchanging with me.
“I thought it was a close fight that could have gone either way. I blocked a lot of his punches with my gloves.”
FRANK DEALBA

“It was a good fight for me and I stuck to my game plan. In the seventh round he hit me with a body shot and knocked the wind out of me.
“It was a close fight but I thought I won 5-3. I could have lived with a draw. He got the close rounds, but every round? Come on.”

Nelson of Philadelphia has a record of 13-2 med en knockout.
Den 26 year-old Nelson is a six-year professional who won his first 12 bouts with wins over Korey Sloane (1-0), Esteban Rodriguez (5-1-1) and Jerome Rodriguez (6-0-3).
The only two blemishes on the resume of Nelson are decisions losses to former world champion Mickey Bey (21-1-1) and to Alejandro Luna (20-0). Nelson took the Luna bout on less than 24 hours notice.
Wiggins of Newburgh, New York har ett register över 7-3 with six knockouts.

Cherry of Wauchula, Florida has had a smooth camp while training in the Sunshine State and is ready for the 46th start of his professional start.
“Everything is good, and we will be prepared for everything on 4 april,” said the 34-year-old Cherry.
“På 4 april, whatever Douglas brings, we will be prepared for. This is not the first time, that I’ve been in this position. He is the guy who has to prove he can perform. I have been there before, so the pressure is on him.”
Cherry has been a top contender at both the 130 och 135 pund divisioner, and he even challenged for a world title at 140 pounds. He believes there are many reasons that he has remained a viable contender who has only lost once in the last nine years and 13 slagsmål.

Douglas has been training at home in Delaware, has been working hard for this fight, which could be a breakthrough fight on the heels of his narrow defeat to former world champion Javier Fortuna last November.
“Allt är bra. This has been a long camp. I have been getting great work,” sade 26- year-old Douglas.
“I am the better fighter. I have known about him for a long time. I watched him a lot when he fought på fredag Natt slagsmål.”

Douglas believes that a win over Cherry is his path to a world title.
“I think that it is time. I just happen to be crossing paths with Cherry. This fight makes sense for me. I will let people know that I am player at 130 pounds, and a win will earn me a title shot. I have shown that I will fight anyone. Look at the records of my previous opponents. Fortuna was 30-1 and one fight removed from being a world champion. Alexei Collado was 19-1; Frank De Alba was 17-1. So wins over those guys plus Cherry should have me right there, but I am focusing on Edner Cherry. He is a great veteran, men på tisdag night I will be victorious.”

Körsbär, av Wauchula, Fla., enters this fight after a victory of Haskell Rhodes in June of last year and is 11-1 sedan 2009. His only blemishes since 2007 are losses to Timothy Bradley and Paulie Malignaggi at 140-pounds and his title challenge in 2015 against Jose Pedraza in which he dropped a split decision. Körsbär, som föddes i Bahamas, owns victories over Vicente Escobedo, Monte Meza Clay and Wes Ferguson and will look to take down another contender on his way to another title shot.
Fighting out of Wilmington, Delaware, Douglas looks to bounce back after losing a narrow decision to former world champion Javier Fortuna in November. The 26-year-old impressed in his previous two outings when he defeated De Alba in a step up fight in 2015 and followed it up with a seventh round knockout of Alexei Collado in June 2016. Douglas has had his last five fights in Pennsylvania after an amateur career that saw him become a five-time Pennsylvania Golden Glove champion.
Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Fulton is coming off of a 2016 that saw him stop previously unbeaten Adalberto Zorrilla and Cristian Renteria. The 22-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 and will be looking to make it a perfect 11 segrar i 11 pro starts when he enters the ring on April 4.
En pro sedan 2013, Rosario fights out of Cidra, Puerto Rico and was unbeaten in his first six bouts before making his U.S. debut i juni 2015 with a third-round knockout of Aaron Hollis in Alabama. He followed that up in Cincinnati with a fourth-round stoppage of Aaron Hollis and most recently he won an eight-round decision over Saul Hernandez.
The 29-year-old De Alba had a 19 fight unbeaten streak snapped in December 2015, when he dropped a narrow majority decision to unbeaten Omar Douglas, but he has rebounded with four straight victories since. His last win came over German Meraz in February and he will be fighting for the fourth time at Sands Bethlehem on April 4.

Läsning, PA (Juli 2, 2016)–Below is the weigh in video for kvällens Premier Boxing Champions fight card at the Santander Arena. I main event, undefeated and former U.S. Olympian Jamel Herring squares off against former world title challenger Denis Shafikov. In the co-feature undefeated Patrysk Szymanski battles Wilky Campfort in a junior middleweight bout.
Also there is a video imterview with former world champion Kermit Cintron, who fights Carlos Garcia in an eight-round welterweight bout.

“Lägret var stor. I started in Cincinnati and finished in D.C. with Barry Hunter, Patrice Harris and of course Mike Stafford. During my time in D.C., I sparred with Lamont Peterson, who turned southpaw for me.
“I have a great deal of respect for Shafikov. Tough guy, experienced but he had his chance and it’s my time now. This is my toughest fight on paper but I feel good. It’s my time to earn my respect.
“It’s a huge honor and blessing to headline on ESPN on 4th of July weekend. I want to put on a good show,
“Its extra special to honor on this weekend, being that I was a marine and to headline and I want to put on a patriotic and great performance.
“I believe a win will open the doors for a world title. I mina tankar, I am taking this fight as a world title fight. That is how important this fight is and before the end of the year, I hope to get a crack at a world title.”
DENIS SHAFIKOV
“Everything went well in camp. We had a four-month camp. We were supposed to fight a couple of months ago but when that fight was cancelled, Denis relaxed for a minute and then this opportunity came up.
“Herring has a great record and he represented the U.S. in the Olympics. He is still young and I feel that my experience will be the determining factor.
“I accepted this fight because a win gets us in line for big opportunities, including another shot at a world championship.”
PATRYK SZYMANSKI
“I’m excited about the opportunity to take on an experienced opponent. I think it will be a good test for me and a chance to show off my skills.
“I’ve worked very hard so that I can leave an impression with my performance. These are the kind of fights that I have to win and win in style if I want to reach my goals in this sport.”
WILKY CAMPFORT
“Training camp went very well. I don’t know too much about my opponent but I did see him fight once in Tampa. Såsom Lördagnatt, I will see what he has.
“It means a lot to fight on ESPN. The first fight that I saw that involved a fellow Haitian was Daniel Edouard on ESPN and it gave me a lot of motivation to pursue my career.
“I am not only fighting for myself, but all of the people in Haiti and Florida that have been supporting me.
“A win will put me right back into where I was when I had my long winning streak. A win will put me back in the mix at 154-pounds.”

Born and raised in West Philadelphia, Fulton is coming off of a fourth-round stoppage of previously unbeaten Adalberto Zorilla in April. The 21-year-old is unbeaten since turning pro in 2014 and will be looking to make it a perfect 10 segrar i 10 pro starts when he enters the ring on July 2. He will be opposed by the Tijuana, Mexico-native Renteria who enters the ring coming off of back-to-back knockout victories.

BETHLEHEM, PA. (April 20, 2016) – Ivan Redkach (19-1-1, 15 Kos) och Luis Cruz (22-4-1, 16 Kos) fought to a split draw and both scored knockdowns Tisdag night in an exciting main event on Premier Boxning Champions (PBC)TOE till tå TISDAG på FS1 och Boxning Champions on FOX Deportes from Sands Bethlehem Events Center in Bethlehem, Pa.
In early action, Cruz began to establish his straight right hand when he knocked Redkach off balance and sent him to the canvas in round two. The Puerto Rican veteran controlled much of the early rounds with that right hand, great movement and overall boxing ability.
Redkach was aggressive throughout, kasta 602 punches over the 10-round bout to Cruz’s 485. Emellertid, Cruz’s 33 percent connect rate was good enough for him to dominate the first half of the fight.
Den 2008 Ukranian Olympian began to find a landing zone for his big left hand as the fight wore on and late in round eight he landed one cleanly on Cruz that dropped him hard. Redkach was then awarded a controversial knockdown in an explosive ninth round when Cruz fell to the mat on what he said was a slip as a result of a push.
Both men emptied the tank in the final round knowing that one punch could change the outcome of the fight and ended with several flurries. The scores after 10 rounds were razor thin at 94-93 for Redkach, 94-93 Cruz and 94-94, resulting in the split draw.
The co-main event of the evening featured a fast pace brawl that saw unbeaten prospect Immanuel Aleem (16-0, 9 Kos) earn a hard fought victory over Jonathan Cepeda (17-2, 15 Kos) in their eight-round middleweight contest.
Aleem and Cepeda traded power punches all fight long, with Cepeda taking the brunt of the punishment as he was out landed 272 till 107. Aleem was superior in all regards as he also landed an impressive 42 procent av hans totala stansar.
Cepeda refused to surrender however and used a powerful right hook to occasionally stun Aleem. The still unbeaten prospect was always able to return any punishment and then some, winning by the score of 79-73 på alla tre domare’ styrkort.
In the televised opener unbeaten middleweight prospects collided as Junior Castillo (10-0, 9 Kos) earned a unanimous decision over Kyrone Davis (10-1, 4 Kos) in a competitive eight-round affair.
The Delaware-native Davis was impressive early with his movement and boxing abilities but the southpaw Castillo was soon able to time his opponent and land left hands to the head and body.

Neither man allowed the other to gain too much momentum throughout the remainder of the fight, but it was Castillo’s output advantage of 117-92 that bettered Davis’ accuracy advantage of 36 percent to 30 procent.
Castillo won the decision by scores of 78-73, 77-74 och 76-75.

“I think I won, but it was a good fight.
“The knockdown I suffered was me losing my balance. I felt I controlled the fight because I knocked him down twice. I thought I could have stopped him after the first knockdown.
“I am not going to argue with the decision but I feel I won the fight.”
LUIS CRUZ
“I thought the last knockdown was a slip. That was the difference between the draw and my win.
“Jag skada honom. I had the power. I tried to work round-by-round. I feel that I won six rounds and that the knockdown cost me the win.
“I thought I fought well. The draw was better than a loss. Why not a rematch? He is strong and dangerous. He hits hard but I know I am better than him.”
IMMANUWEL ALEEM
“He was a tough guy. I hit him with some good shots but he kept his ground. I respect that.
“I was trying to take my time to get him out. I was being hasty. I was trying to get him every chance I got but he was tough. I am a student of the game and I was taking my time.
“My manager George Peterson has a resume of building up Paul Williams and I trust what he has in store for me. He knows what I am capable of doing. We will go after everybody, just like Paul did.”
JUNIOR CASTILLO
“It was a very good fight. I had some difficulty at first but I felt confident that I would be victorious.
“I kept consistent with my game plan and I was able to knock him down. I thought I would be able to finish him but I got too wild.
“It feels good to defeat an undefeated prospect and also go the distance. I have never gone the distance before.
“I want some kind of title fight. My confidence is much higher right.”
KYRONE DAVIS
“I felt like it was a good fight. I feel like I won. I thought the crowd swayed the judges. I felt like I won but that’s how it goes sometimes.
“78-73 was too wide. I controlled the first two rounds. He crossed over and hit me with a good shot. He may have won the knockdown round and the last round.
“If he gives me a rematch, I would love it. This is just a minor setback. I will improve after this fight and I will move forward.”

Further action will feature a pair of Pennsylvania prospects in their pro debuts as Harrisburg’s Dustin Pague takes on Philadelphia’s Rafael Davis in a four-round welterweight fight, super weltervikt Nicholas Hernandez (3-1, 1 KO) in a six-round bout against Newark’s Jamil Gadsden (0-6), Philadelphia Emmanuel Folly (6-0, 4 Kos) in four-rounds of lightweight action and St. Louis-native Vincent Cruz (9-0, 6 Kos) in eight rounds of super lightweight action against Allentown’s Jerome Rodriguez (7-3-3, 2 Kos).
På bara 21-årig, the rising prospect kept busy in 2015 as he picked up five victories including his last out in Bethlehem where he defeated previously unbeaten Joshua Greer. The Philadelphia-product will look to open his 2016 with a victory over the unbeaten Zorilla out of Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
The 28-year-old De Alba had a 19 fight unbeaten streak snapped in his last outing in which he dropped a narrow majority decision to unbeaten Omar Douglas. Originally from Bayamon, Puerto Rico but now fighting out of nearby Reading, Pennsylvania, he’ll battle the 24-year-old Perales out of Nuevo Leon, Mexiko.
