Adam Lopez Reunites With Former Trainer For Must-Win Fight This Friday On ShoBox: The New Generation

Lopez Battles Undefeated Arnold Khegai Live on SHOWTIME® At 10 p.m. EN/PT From 2300 Arena In Philadelphia

 

Nutley, N.J. (Mei 9, 2018) – Super Bantamweight prospect Adam Lopez has reunited with his former trainer for his eight-round matchup with undefeated Arnold Khegai deze vrijdag op ShoBox: The New Generation in the opening bout of a four-fight SHOWTIME telecast (10 p.m. ET / PT) uit 2300 Arena in Philadelphia.

In Khegai (11-0-1, 8 KO), Lopez is facing a tough and hard-nosed fighter from Ukraine. Lopez has done extensive scouting on his adversary, who will be making his American debut.

 

 

 

“I have seen just about all of his fights, and he is definitely aggressive,” Zei Lopez. “I know he is a former kickboxer. He is a rugged guy, but I am a veteran, who has faced many styles, so I am ready for whatever he will bring on Friday.”

 

 

 

Lopez has become a favorite on ShoBox and Friday is his record seventh appearance on the prospect developmental series. He is committed and ready to seize this opportunity against an undefeated prospect.

Maryland native Glenn Dezurn says it really doesn’t matter what his normally talkative opponent, Chicago’s Josh “Don’t Blink” Greer (16-1-1, 8 KO) says or does before they meet in their 10-round super-bantamweight showdown Friday, Mei 11 live op Showtime.

The 30-year-old says he’s set one goal in boxing and is enjoying his journey to reach it.

 

 

 

“I want to win a world championship. I set that goal for myself and once I achieve that, I can go on to my other goals in other areas of life. I’m earning my way to the championship the hard way against good fighters. That’s what I want. I’m living my dreams right now. And I will get there one day.”

The lightweight contender moved six hours from his home and two children in Louisiana to train with a new team in Dallas alongside the likes of WBC World Super Welterweight Champion Jermell Charlo and IBF Welterweight Champion Errol Spence Jr.

The 29-year-old Menard says his home state of Louisiana simply couldn’t offer the level of training he is now getting, working with new trainers Nathan Pipitone, Maurice James and Aaron Navarro, while sparring with world champions.

 

 

 

“I’m in Dallas to better my career,” Menard continued. “Louisiana just doesn’t have what I need to take it to the next level and compete. I’m working hard here and it’s what I need. I’m pushing the tempo and sharpening my skills.”

 

 

 

Fighting live on ShoBox in 2016, Menard scored a brutal Knockout of the Year candidate over previously undefeated Eudy Bernardo and got another ShoBox win later that year with an impressive KO over Bahodir Mamadjonov. He then suffered his only loss since 2008, in a short-notice showdown with WBO Lightweight Champion Raymundo Beltran.

 

 

 

He returned from the setback in March 2017 with a decision win, but suffered a serious injury.

 

 

 

“I had a detached front rotator cuff tendon and partial torn biceps tendon. It gave out on me in my last fight in the first round. I’ve had surgery on it, and rehabbed it, and now I’m ready to return to the world stage. I’m in with a good, slick boxer, but my trainers have a game plan and we have been working on a few things that he does, just to be prepared for what’s to come against him. Ik zal klaar zijn. Menard says the hardest part of preparing to face one of boxing’s most talked-about prospects on national television is the loneliness of missing his two beloved daughters, Demi (8 jaar oud) and newborn Amelia.

FRISCO, TEXAS (Mei 2, 2018) – Welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr. received a champions’ welcome in his hometown Wednesday at Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters at a press conference to discuss his homecoming defense Saturday, Juni 16 live on SHOWTIME against unbeaten Carlos Ocampo at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions.

 

 

 

Spence and Ocampo were welcomed with personalized Dallas Cowboys jerseys and an appearance from Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at The Star as Spence prepares to make his first hometown world title defense. He last fought in Dallas in November 2015 but will now have a chance to excite his hometown fans in the first boxing event to take place inside Ford Center.

Spence (23-0, 20 KO) returned home with the welterweight title last May after defeating champion Kell Brook in Brook’s hometown of Sheffield, Engeland. The 28-year-old southpaw from Desoto, Texas made his first defense against former two-division champion Lamont Peterson, stopping him via seventh round technical knockout on Jan. 20 in Brooklyn.

Kownacki, geboren in Lomza, Polen, maar uitvechten van Brooklyn, New York, genoot de steun van zijn geboortestad menigte toen hij gestaag naar beneden droeg Kiladze.

 

 

 

Kownacki was de meer agressieve en nauwkeurige van de twee vechters, landing 43 procent van zijn macht stoten en 35 procent van zijn totale stoten, vergeleken met slechts 30 procent en 18 procent, respectievelijk, voor Kiladze. Ondanks een bloedneus die Kownacki leed in de eerste ronde, Poolse zwaargewicht begon te gieten op en banden Kiladze een reeks uppercuts en een tot twee combinaties in de vierde ronde. “Ik ben zo dankbaar voor al mijn Poolse fans die naar buiten komen en geef me dat extra support”, zei Kownacki, die in de voorkant van honderden van zijn landgenoten vochten. “Ik ga om te vechten voor de fans te houden en geef iedereen een geweldige show.

De Republiek Georgië geboren Kiladze, die vecht uit Los Angeles, was niet in staat om media te spreken toen hij werd meegenomen naar NYU Lutheran Hospital uit voorzorg.

WAT: SHOWTIME Sports reporter Jim Gray sat down with undefeated world champion Robert Pasen Jr. at the famed Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn ahead of his 135-pound title defense against former world champion Javier Fortuna. The pair discussed Easter’s motivations to enter the sport of boxing, his life outside the ring and future aspirations inside the ring.
The IBF Lightweight World Title Bout serves as the co-feature of the Januari 20 Showtime Championship Boxing, a Premier Boxing Champions event LIVE on SHOWTIME (9 p.m. EN/6 p.m. PT) van Barclays Center, het huis van BROOKLYN BOKSEN ™. The event is headlined by IBF Welterweight World Champion and 2012 U.S. Olympiër Errol Spence Jr. making his first title defense against former two-division world champion Lamont Peterson.
“Nothing concerns me about Fortuna”, Said Pasen. “He hasn’t been in the ring with no one like me with my attributes. I’m going to show him why he didn’t want this fight.”
Looking ahead to what a successful title defense op zaterdag night would mean for his career, Easter made it clear his goal was to unify the division. “Mikey Garcia, Jorge Linares – either or, het maakt niet uit. It’s all in these guys’ hands if they want to face me.”
