COLORADO SPRINGS, Lap. (November 19, 2018) – The late Emanuel Steward, arguably the greatest boxing trainer of all-time, is a member of the Class of 2018 getting inducted into the USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame.

 

 

 

The second annual USA Boxing Alumni Association Hall of Fame reception, held in conjunction with the 2018 USA Boxing Elite and Youth National Championships and Junior and Prep Open, December 2-8, will be held December 7, at the Radisson Hotel (215 S. Temple St.) in Salt Lake City, Utah.

 

 

 

 

Steward was a boxer, trainer extraordinaire, and HBO commentator until his untimely death in 2012 pri starosti 68. His boxing career culminated with his induction into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1996.

 

 

 

Pri starosti 12, Manny moved with his mother from West Virginia to Detroit, where his life soon turned to boxing. Steward also served as National Director of Coaching for USA Boxing in the early 2000’s.

The last world champion Manny trained was Adonis “Superman” Stevenson, who remains the reigning World Boxing Council (WBC) World light heavyweight champion since 2013.

 

 

 

“Emanuel would always say, Knockouts prodati!” Stevenson fondly remembered. “He was also the first to tell me, ‘You will be a superstar and a world champion. Just make sure you don’t listen to people with bad intentions because you’ve got natural talent.’ He believed in me even if some people did not think I would ever become a world champion.”

“For years he would come to my National Silver Gloves Tournament that I sponsored and put on in Kansa City just to show his support of the youth program,” added USA Boxing president John Brown dodano. “Every year I would tell him to let me know if he was coming, so I could VIP him, and every year he would ignore me and just quietly show up. I would notice him in the crowd. I would ball him out and then we did the same thing the following year.

 

 

 

“I also used to see him at big fights and he would always make me feel special by saying my company saved boxing in the seventies and eighties by providing safe, well-made, fair priced boxing equipment for the sport. No one else ever gave me that recognition. He was humble and not a blowhard, my kind of guy.”

 

 

 

Emanuel Steward left his mark on earth, not only as a multi-faceted personality in boxing, but he’s also remembered for his magnanimous charity work in Detroit, in which he helped youths in their pursuit of education.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Lap. (Avgust 6, 2018) – The USA Boxing Alumni Association has announced its second class to be inducted into its Hall of Fame, December 7, at the Radisson Hotel (215 S. Temple St.) in Salk Lake City, Utah.

 

 

 

The reception is being held in conjunction with the 2018 USA Boxing Elite and Youth National Championships and Junior and Prep Open, December. 2-8, also held in Salt Lake City.

 

 

 

The Class of 2018 includes U.S. Olympic Team medalists and world (profesionalna) prvaki Roy Jones, Jr., Andre Ward in Claressa Shields, as well as former USA Boxing National Director of Coaching Emanuel Steward and veteran USA Boxing official Tom Cleary. The latter two will be posthumously inducted.

 

 

 

This year’s inductees were selected amongst a group of 17 nominees by the hundreds of registered USA Boxing Alumni Association members during the months of June and July.

Promoter Dmitriy Salita proudly announces his latest installment of “Detroit Brawl,” Sobota night at the Masonic Temple, was a tremendous success, helping him donate over 3000 meals to Forgotten Harvest, one of the nation’s largest food rescue organizations.
In the night’s main event, WBO #5, IBF #5, in WBC #7 and current NABF heavyweight champion, Andy “The Destroyer from Mexicali” Ruiz (28-0, 19 Kos), stayed unbeaten and showed off some fast, powerful fists, as he stopped Miami’s Josh “Dempsey” Gormley at 1:42 v tretjem krogu.

Gormley Confident that Undefeated Ruiz Will Taste Defeat at ‘Detroit Brawl’ na Sobota, Julij 16

Having already experienced being a world-rated TV-level fighter under tremendous pressure to win every fight impressively, Miami-based slugger Josh “Dempsey” Gormley says he much prefers the lowered expectations of being considered the “Nasprotnik” since coming back to boxing.
“There’s a lot of pressure on you as the A-side guy,” explained Gormley. “As an opponent, I’m supposed to lose, so when I win it’ll be that much more dramatic.”
Gormley (22-4, 21 Kos) will face WBO #5-, IBF #5-, and WBC #7-rated and current NABF heavyweight champion Andy “The Destroyer from Mexicali” Ruiz (27-0, 18 Kos) in a non-title fight to soboto v Detroitu. The two bruising heavyweights will meet in the 10-round main event of Salita Promotions’ latest “Detroit Brawl” event at the Masonic Temple.

An intriguing heavyweight showdown will go down on Sobota, Julij 16, as WBO #5-, IBF #5-, and WBC #7-rated and current NABF heavyweight champion Andy “The Destroyer from Mexicali” Ruiz (27-0, 18 Kos) has agreed to face comebacking KO artist Joshua “Josh Dempsey” Gormley (22-4, 21 Kos) in his next ring appearance.

26-year-old Ruiz, from Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, will face the determined and upset-minded 41-year-old Gormley, from Torrance in a non-title fight in the 10-round main event of Salita Promotions’ Naslednji “Detroit Brawl” installment at the Masonic Temple in Downtown Detroit.
Ruiz has made four successful defenses of his NABF Championship. Gormley, who bills himself as a distant relative of former champ Jack Dempsey, reportedly trains with Dino Spencer and Luis “Chiro” Perez at the 5th St. Gym in Miami, Florida. He is on a three-fight KO streak since coming back from a 16-year layoff in late 2015. Despite having had no amateur boxing career, Dempsey fought his way to up-and-comer status in the late 90s and was a fan favorite. He also worked with former champion Lennox Lewis as a sparring partner. Gormley is a former California State Wrestling Champion and MMA fighter and the older brother of UFC fighter Chase Gormley.
Giving the “Detroit Brawl” crowd its usual international flavor will be welterweights Giorgi Gelashvili (4-0, 2 Kos) Brooklyn via Georgia and Serdar Hadurbadyev (2-0, 2 Kos) of Turkmenabat, Turkmenistan in separate six-round bouts.
Prav tako, making his long-awaited four-round pro debut that night will be “Southpaw Prince” Gheith Karim, a three-time national amateur champion from Dearborn, Michigan. A product of the Kronk Gym, Karim was being touted as a future star by legendary Kronk founder Emanuel Steward since the age of 11. He will compete as a junior middleweight.

VERONA, NY. (April 15, 2016) – Undefeated bantamweight prospects Nikolay Potapov in Stephon Young fought to a majority draw in theShoBox: New Generation Glavni dogodek Petek on SHOWTIME from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, NY.

“I most definitely want a rematch. I would like to do that again.”

“He was a good classical boxer, but he’s too straight up and he couldn’t adjust,” Bejenaru said. “It wasn’t as easy as it looked to beat him. I adjusted my style to do that because I knew it would make him hesitate. I knew if I just constantly attacked him he wouldn’t know what to do.”

 

Zubov and Bernardo are now the 146th in 147th boxers to suffer their first pro loss on the prospect developmental series.
