Webster decisions Riojas in Atlantic City Wins by Seldon, Ajamu, Wikins and Manzueta

Atlantic City, New Jersey (Június 1, 2018)–Super középsúlyú Derrick Webster pounded his way to a 10-round unanimous decision over Oscar Riojas in the main event of a five-bout card at The Claridge Hotel.

 

 

 

Mis Downing Promotions promoted the near-capacity show.

Webster was pinpoint with his jab, which he followed with a solid body work that reddened the sides of Riojas. Webster stunned the gritty Riojas on several occasions, but the visitor from Monterrey, Mexico showed a good chin and remained on his feet for the ten-round bout.

 

 

 

Scores were all 100-90 in favor of Webster of Glassboro, New Jersey, aki most 26-1. Riojas is 16-10-1.

Isiah Seldon scored two knockdowns en-route to a six-round unanimous decision over Lamar Harris in a super middleweight bout.

Ajamu also believes that being in the ring will also help fight for a cause that he has been involved with for sometime.
“What better way to bring attention to child abduction, which is a big problem in this country then to be in the ring and help get the message out there.”
Ajamu said that at age 45 that this is not a one-and-done situation, as he plans to stick around for specific purposes.
“The goal is take this as far as I can. I want to win another title and tie another Camden legend, “Jersey” Joe Walcott,” said the former Pennsylvania, IBC Inter-Continental, WBC Continental Americas, WBC Caribbean, , WBO NABO and World Boxing Foundation Light Heavyweight champion.
Another goal is a rematch with legendary Roy Jones, Jr.
Jones defeated Ajamu in 2006, and its’s more than a coincidence that Jones will be in a attendance as a co-promoter for the event.
“Yes there is definitely a reason why I am on this card, and Roy is co-promoting, but I have to get past Perez. I know he is a tough fighter who comes forward, and he is capable as I know Lavarn Harvell who was undefeated at the time that he beat him.”

“The more that I fight, the more consistent that I am. When I had other people in charge of my career, I was fighting less frequent. Maybe fighting every six or seven months. “My target is WBA champion George Groves. I never wanted to face Harris. I wanted to fight guys with better records and for many reasons including opponents pricing themselves out, but guys won’t fight me. I do appreciate that Harris stepped up for the challenge so I respect him for that. Hopefully I can fight someone like Mike Tiberi next for a major regional title, then have my eye towards a world title in 2018.”

LaManna dominated the action with power shots that he landed behind a long jab throughout the contest. Velasquez was game as he took a lot of shots and landed an occasional power shot. LaManna sealed the deal in the final round when he landed a flush 4-punch combination that put Velasquez on the canvas.

Anthony Young won a eight-round unanimous decision over George Sosa in an entertaining welterweight contest.
Young was extremely active as he landed hard combinations with Sosa landing an occasional hard shot to the head.

Atlantic City, NJ (Június 8, 2017)–Welterweight contender, Tamás “Cornflake” LaManna feels that he is on the brink of a breakthrough win, and he is looking to fight a big name later this Summer that will help catapult himself up the rankings, and on his way to a world title shot.

“I am looking forward to a great fight on Saturday. I am not taking Velasquez lightly as he is a tough veteran who has had 54 harcol,” mondta LaManna. “After I win, I want something big. Myself and Rising Promotions have regional title bouts in mind. Fights with Zab Judah and Kermit Cintron have been brought up. The ultimate goal is to get world rated, and climb up the ladder with meaningful fights that I would like to take place in Atlantic City.”
“Because I have two losses, I get calls all the time to be an opponent. I don’t look at myself as being one. I am one of the biggest, if not the biggest tickets seller in New Jersey, with a tremendous fan base, and myself and my Rising Promotions team would like to capitalize on that and move me along like a real promotional company is supposed to move a fighter. Atlantic City is a great fight town, and I think that we can bring the type of bouts back to the boardwalk that made this town the mecca of boxing that it once was. Since suffering his only professional blemish, a 28 year-old Pham of Atlantic City, New Jersey has stopped his two previous opponents.
Pham believes he will only get better as his trainer, Chuck Eisenbeis will be back in his corner after being absent from Pham’s last couple of bouts.
“It is good to have him back. He taught me everything that I know,” said Pham. “We have been working on footwork, and my jab. I have seen the improvement everyday. Chuck has been working with some UFC fighters and it is great to have him back.”
In Perez he is taking on a durable fighter, who has faced many top prospects, 13 undefeated fighters and a world champion in Jermall Charlo.
“He is a Puerto Rican. I know he is tough as I am Puerto Rican as well. Neki van 27 harcol, so that is three-times more than I have. He is experienced and he goes rounds for the most part. I have seen some film where can be slick, so I have to be cautious of that. I have been working hard, so I am confident that I will get the job done.”
With a win, Pham can see himself getting into contention for some regional title opportunities.
“A win will set me up for a step up fight. I will discuss that with my manager after this fight. I am happy where I am at as this will be the 3rd fight this year for me and this is by far the busiest stretch of my career. I am looking to impress the fans and keep doubling the expectations with each fight. This will be a top-shelf performance. I want to stop this guy. I don’t go in looking for it, but if I see that I have him staggered or hurt, I will try to get him out of there.”

This will be LaManna’s 5th appearance at The Claridge, and 15th start in Atlantic City.
“I have something big planned for the rest of 2017, but I have to handle Velasquez first. I’m talking meaningful titles against meaningful names. I want to keep fighting guys with the experience this way going in to another big fight, I know I’ll be 100%.,” mondta LaManna
“Camp has been awesome with coach Charles Johnson, coach Vince Jackson and Strength and Conditioning with former IBF Cruiserweight Champion Imamu Mayfield.”
“We are looking for another great night at The Claridge,” said Debbie LaManna of Rising Promotions. “We continue to put on great shows, and June 10th will be no different. We feel that the momentum of our shows is starting to help the restoration of boxing in Atlantic City.”
“After Thomas gets through this fight, We will are going to be looking for a regional title belt in one of the the four recognized organizations. If we win that and defend that a couple of times and move through the ratings of the sanctioning bodies, Thomas can earn himself a world title shot,” said Vinny LaManna.
Velasquez of Managua, Nicaragua has a record of 24-28-2 a 15 kiütéssel.
A 37 year-old Velasquez has been a professional since 2005, and has some quality wins on his resume over Danilo Moises Solis (18-1), Maisael Castillo (20-0).
Velasquez has also been in the ring with former world champion Jose Alfaro (21-4), former world title challengers Daniel Estrada (17-1), Michele Di Rocco (25-1-1), Petr Petrov (24-2-2), Matt Zegan (38-5), Rene Gonzalez (28-4-1), Luis Cruz (20-2) & Hank Lundy (25-5-1) as well as contenders Luciano Cuello (25-1), Aaron Herrera (20-0), Mahonry Montes (22-0-1), Adrian Granados (12-2-1) & Dusty Hernandez Harrison (26-0).
